This is a rescue group that takes in all greyhounds, retired racers, coyote hunters, strays, breeding females, injured greyhounds, greyhounds that have lost their homes, mixed breed greyhounds, and sadly, abuse cases. GALT provides the best medical care and then volunteers foster the dogs, teaching them the joys of life in a home until the day they find their forever homes. Before they are adopted GALT absorbs the cost of neutering as well as any medical care a greyhound may need including surgeries. There are no employees, everyone involved is a volunteer and the rescue is well organized, efficient, and exceptionally devoted to the care of these beautiful creatures.

These are the finest, most dedicated people you will ever meet. I had the honor of adopting my beautiful Rebekah from GALT and then fostering 2 sweet boys. GALT is one of the things I miss the most since I moved to Florida.

GALT is a wonderful group, for the dogs homed by them and for the adopters. They are a community with a wealth of knowledge, experience, and care. I have volunteered with this group in different capacities over the years, and enjoy many of the events and try to attend them all when I can. Whenever I have questions (and, after over a decade of owning Greyhounds, I still sometimes have questions), someone knowledgeable is there with an answer or a suggestion I hadn't thought of. When it was time for my greys to cross the bridge, my GALT family was there for me. Everyone here cares about the dogs and the people owned by the dogs.

I came to GALT after moving halfway across the country, where I volunteered and sat on the board of another Greyhound nonprofit organization. I was pleasantly surprised to find how open and welcoming GALT members are, and how much they have to offer. There is always an event, activity or fundraiser in the making. Some are big, some are small, but in the end, when you think about it, that's a LOT of work put into this organization to make it what it is, and the amazing dogs get to reap the benefits. Most organizations either do not have the time or do not have the manpower to always have something in the works. The fact that they can keep it going successfully is a testament to their dedication to saving greyhounds.

I love GALT ! The team does so much for greyhounds from the racing industry and strays alike. They give 5 star treatments to all the dogs in their care, the dogs are in foster homes or the kennels, where the TLC team steps in to give them their daily walks and cuddles. I am amazed at the sheer volume of greyhounds GALT has helped over the years.
GALT ROCKS !!!

I've been following GALT for 6 years on FB and what a great rescue they are ! 5 years ago I took the next step and went to visit them, all the way from Belgium and met them in person. I was taken in, into their family and met even more of the volunteers. They all became my extended family and I love them dearly! I run a small rescue in Belgium and would like to be as good as them when we grow up ! GALT will move heaven and earth to help greyhounds in need, No Grey Turned Away are not just words to them it is their goal to help them all.
I have the deepest respect for all the volunteers and the work they do, day in and day out!

I stalked GALT on social media since social media started, so when I found myself returning to the US in 2013 after 10 years in Australia, GALT swooped in and made sure to make me and my Australian greyhounds feel welcome. I have been involved with them in some way ever since. As a volunteer, they are easy to work with. They're organized and helpful. Their fundraisers are entertaining, memorable, and fun, but it is clear that they are raising much-needed funds to support their motto: No Grey Turned Away. That is a huge task, and GALT rises to that challenge daily.
I also became an adopter. Or a foster-failure. One thing that I love about GALT is that even though The George is now mine, GALT shows interest in how he is doing. They still care about him even though they are not directly caring for him.
I see myself being involved with GALT until I shuffle off this mortal leash.

We adopted Zamboni through GALT. My wife had adopted Jettie through them years ago and after her passing, we were ready for a new Grey. GALT was thorough and timely in their home inspection and we hit it off with the veterinarian who was the inspector right away. Zamboni's foster graciously welcomed us into her home and we also bonded with her as he got along with our dogs, who we brought along. The paperwork was processed timely and Zamboni is a beautiful dog who was well-cared for during his fostering and has become part of our family very fast. We would recommend GALT with our highest regards.

GALT is a group of passionate like minded volunteers who give generously of their time , resources and knowledge to benefit greyhounds in need. This non profit has worked tirelessly with great integrity and consistency over many years. Their mission of no hound left behind continues to be successfully met due to the high caliber of the founders, foster families and volunteers. I highly recommend GALT as a fantastic adoption league.

I’ve always loved animals and knew early on they would be an important part of my life. Greyhounds were not familiar to me - and my childhood home was always a cat home (

I’m an adopter and now volunteer with the Greyhound Adoption League of Tx, for the newly formed New Mexico Chapter. We adopted 3 hounds from them last year and we had a really great experience with them. When they decided to expand into NM, I really wanted to see them succeed. The volunteers are extremely committed and the all resources GALT gets goes into helping the hounds who need medical care. They take in stray sighthounds, as well as retired racers, really living up to the phrase “No Grey turned away.”

The pics I posted are two hounds we just got from another rescue who was having a hard time placing them and didn’t have foster homes for them. GALT now has them and they are well on their way to finding forever homes.

GALT is one of the most amazing rescue groups I have had the pleasure to work with. Their love and devotion to saving the greyhounds is so wonderful. I have been fostering and volunteering as an adoption coordinator for several years now, and have adopted several hounds from GALT. I can not say enough good things about this organization and the love and passion that goes into caring for the hounds.

I have the privilege of having two GALT Greyhounds and they are the my loves. I am also an adoption coordinator and foster for GALT. Such a wonderful organization that does such great things for the greyhounds, from strays, to hounds off the track, to puppies that have been dumped, to taking greyhounds (and greyhound mixes) from hoarding situations. All the volunteers work together to get the hounds ready for their forever homes.

My husband and I recently adopted from the New Mexico chapter of GALTX. They have been wonderful! The volunteers were incredibly kind and helpful during the adoption process. They made sure we were informed on greyhounds and their unique needs and differences from other breeds. When we couldn't get to Texas to pick up our new boy, a volunteer drove there himself to bring the pup back. They've been great after the adoption, too. I've been in contact with several of them over some minor issues that have come up. They've sent links, advice, and offers of help. I had no idea that when we adopted that we'd be welcomed into such a loving, supportive community. I can't recommend them enough.

I am so very happy to continue to support GALT. The work that they do on behalf of the hounds and families is inspiring. In 2017, they showed their amazing dedication to the hounds by once again stepping up to help in a large emergency situation, the sudden closure of a pet blood bank. Without hesitation, GALT took scores of hounds in to help them find homes. I highly recommend this organization to adopters, donors and volunteers.

I have the privilege of living with three GALT greyhounds in my home. I cannot thank this fine organization enough for trusting me with them and for supporting me in my efforts to give them the best life possible. GALT volunteers are very professional and truly love their charges. They are very helpful and dedicated to the hounds. I am proud to be a GALT member and give my support to GALT.

After one of our greyhounds passed away, we completed an adoption application with GALT. We had been following their work on line for years and felt they were responsible and compassionate. No greyhound needs a home if GALT is anywhere nearby - they take them all. We were thoroughly checked out and were approved for adoption. They suggested we adopt a 9-month old puppy who had had a badly broken leg. GALT had it surgically repaired (she has a plate and 7 screws.) We drove from Maryland to Dallas to pick up our little girl (nearly 2,500 miles round trip.) They selected the perfect dog for us. We could not be happier. We wouldn't hesitate to adopt from them again or to recommend them to others.

This nonprofit group remains firmly focused on its mission through sharp oversight, professional management, and continuous program improvements. Thanks to smart management and its fundraising strengths, GALT can take in dogs needing even the most expensive medical and surgical treatment or extensive foster home rehab. Potential adopters are thoroughly yet realistically screened (an issue with some adoption groups), and adopters receive post-adoption support with the dog's best interests at heart. My experience with GALT comes as a satisfied three-time adopter and volunteer.

Although GALT's focus is assisting greyhounds, particularly those with a racing background; this organization embodies "leave no SIGHTHOUND behind." I stand in awe of the dedication and teamwork exhibited by the GALT volunteers. Whether the task is picking up a lurcher in the local animal shelter; attending a Meet & Greet; maintaining the website or planning a mega fundraising gala; the members of GALT rise to the challenge with aplomb.

GALT is what every rescue should aspire to be.

I have been involved in the pet industry and have partnered with rescue organizations for over 16 years. The Greyhound Adoption League of Texas is professionally operated with a fantastic network of dedicated volunteers that have been an ongoing pleasure to partner with. They have an impressive schedule of events and meet and greets to successfully place the many hounds they have taken in on their journey to their waiting families. I have had the good fortune to have had 4 GALT hounds placed with me. The support received from the group is exemplary from fostering to adopting to becoming part of the GALT family through a robust social media network. Great organization!

I started volunteering for GALT in 2016. This well-organized adoption group provides excellent medical care for the hounds. They work hard to make sure that the dog will fit in well at its forever adopted home; dogs that will live with cats go to kitty boot camp to live with cats before adoption and dogs that will be only dogs try living alone before they are adopted.
As a volunteer, who didn't have greyhound experience prior to volunteering, the GALT community was incredibly helpful when I had questions.

great they take in retired racers. They show pictures of dogs off leash. Stole their "no grey turned away' from another group & they don't always take dogs. Instead of helping dogs in the US, they are now importing greyhounds. Currently the tracks in Florida repair fractured legs, GALT takes them prior to repair to beg for more money. Check the Group before you donate time & money. Know of friends who have attempted to adopt, but are turned away. Watch the Vet clinic they support, care its substandard.
