TFA/LA has the secret to getting the disadvantaged kids on track to a course that could help get them on to productive lives. The Corpsmembers turn the kids on by giving them a goal the first day of class The goal might be to go to college and every day it is reinforced by stories and in the meantime the Corpsmembers have a personal goal to advance the kids at least a grade and a half durig the school year. After a grueling recruiting, selection and training the corpsmembers are carefully monitored by senior members of the regional office. In many cases the corpsmembers are helped by the tennured teachers in the school. Collaboration and inspiration are the keys.
