Volunteering with the Art of Elysium has been such a transformative and joyful experience. The healing power of art is truly making a difference in the communities they work with. The artists and leaders are so welcoming and creative. It is a wonderful nonprofit to be involved with!
I have been volunteering with The Art of Elysium for many years and love the work they do! The team is committed to both the artists who volunteer (providing many opportunities) and to those they serve in the community. If you are an artist, I highly recommend signing up to volunteer.
I have been lucky to be able to volunteer for this wonderful organization. The work they do to help heal kids thru art and the support they give to artists is inspiring. Their dedication is also uplifting.
I am absolutely taken by The Art of Elysium. They truly embody what it is to give back, making well worthwhile all resources - from time to monetary donations - put their way, and placed in the right hands. They really do want to connect art with those in need, while reminding all those who volunteer for them and support them how far their support can go.
They are run by very talented staff, and they create a warm community that can be both trusted and relied on.
As a volunteer for many years I can’t say enough about how wonderful the Art of Elysium is for our community at large, the never ending devotion and dedication on behalf of the founder Jennifer Howell is nothing short of incredible and inspiring. It is an honor to be able to assist in the charity’s continued success in honoring their mission - ‘Art Heals’.
I have volunteered with The Art of Elysium in the past and have to say
it's truly a great organization run by great people.
You can tell the work they do comes from a place of passion, and they genuinely love helping people in need through art.
I have loved my experience with The Art of Elysium so far and will definitely be returning for more volunteer opportunities in the future.
I have experienced The Art of Elysium's events, their community and most importantly their programs. They have built a community of artists who are dedicated to lifting the spirits of those who are suffering through creative art projects. I look forward to every engagement with this organization and suggest anyone get involved and participate.
I had the privilege of being able to attend one of The Art of Elysium's programs with an artist and experienced firsthand testimony of how art truly heals. The artist volunteered at Yo Lo Tengo at Children's hospital which is a self esteem program which works with children who are patients of plastic surgery. Watching the transformation in the children and how they were able to express themselves through the sculptural art activity was a true living testament to how art can empower and improve coping skills.
I have been a volunteer for AOE on and off for many years. When work allows, I try to volunteer as much as I can. It is the highlight of my week to be able to share creative endeavors with people who otherwise may not be able to express their creative talents. Its amazing to see how being creative can open someone's perception of themselves and others and create the confidence to go for what they want.
I have been a volunteer since 2009 with the Art of Elysium and it has been a moving and rewarding experience. I joined as a way to share my skills and talents with children but I have felt I have gotten much more out of the organization than I could ever put in. I have had the honor of working with both ill and special needs children and young adults. Seeing their eyes light up, the gleeful smiles on their faces and hearing their laughter has expanded my heart and soul in ways I can never describe. It's been a true blessing to be part of this organization and to be honest, I feel guilty sometimes that I am supposed to be the 'volunteer' but in fact, they give me so much more than I can ever give them.
Having volunteered with this organization and being involved in numerous ways over the years, I can say what inspires me the most is how they hand their programs over to the artists to lead the workshops. The benefits of empowering artists to find their own creative way in order to authentically give back is the key to building a philanthropic art community.
I would give this "charity" negative stars if I could. Don't be fooled by the positive reviews; the owner pays people to write them. Does the charity sound scammy? That's because it's a scam. The owner embezzles money and is currently being investigated for fraud. But, not only is it a scam, the owner is an actively dangerous woman. Give her money and she'll want more. She threatens and blackmails donors in an attempt to extort more money. Hopefully she'll be in prison soon, but until then STAY AWAY!
I love this non-profit and what it stands for so much! The Art of Elysium truly believes that through service, art can & DOES become a catalyst for good. I have volunteered with this group for over 8 years and the joy it has personally given me as a volunteer has been life changing. Art and human connection are such powerful tools and when we take the focus off of ourselves and give our time, attention and talents to those in need, it is very fulfilling for both parties. Being able to bring momentary joy to kids that are suffering is truly amazing.
This is such a unique and impactful organization. I was able to take part as a guest vocal coach for a musical revue production, and what I saw of how Art of Elysium supported and enabled these students' creativity and confidence was a highlight of my year. The support that A of E offers is bound to ripple outward and inspire these students to be more confident in themselves and their abilities and involved in and proud of their communities.
I've been volunteering with The Art of Elysium for the last three years, bringing my passions and experience in music, yoga, and theater to the unhoused, seniors, and kids with special needs. Other volunteers work with their own skills, such as visual arts and crafts. The Art of Elysium makes their volunteers feel like family.
It's been a great joy and blessing to have the opportunity to serve others in this way, and to inspire them and uplift their spirits. In turn, they inspire and uplift mine. It is a virtuous exchange of energy that brings more light, love, joy and magic into this often cruel and unforgiving world.
Arts education and exposure is so incredibly important for both kids and adults of all ages. The Art of Elysium is fulfilling a uniquely critical role in directly healing the community of Los Angeles. It has the potential to reach many more in need of its services, and deserves all support, recognition, and funding in order to do so.
I am a sculptor who lives with chronic heart disease and my art is in part an extension of recovery. At each program organized by the Art of Elysium I have introduced myself this way – “when I was 20 I fell down, and kept falling down, again and again and again until I was lucky enough to meet the right doctors and nurses who helped me to stand up and stay standing. Sculpture for me is exactly that – an act of standing up and staying standing.”
The intimate moments with individuals afforded me by Art of Elysium program leaders – a youth suffering from severe Tourette’s and autism who delights in the clay I’ve brought, cleft palate reconstruction survivors finding abstraction tracing muscles of the jaw and face, elders finding community with others grappling with the loss of agency – have allowed me context and connection and healing that I treat as a gift. Very grateful to the team!
I have been working with the Art of Elysium for several years now, and not only is the work they do so fulfilling for both those volunteering and the people we interact with, but everyone who takes the time out of their busy schedules to set up events, meetings, and volunteer activities are the loveliest people I've ever met. It's good vibes all the time. So proud to be a part of this group, and looking forward to the next opportunity to help out!
I’ve volunteered for the Art of Elysium and have been a grateful witness to the wonderful work they do and the joy that the organization manifests for those groups in need of more laughter, art and music in their day. In a mixed age classroom for children with developmental challenges, regular visits for storytelling inspire creativity and confidence that builds over the course of the year. The Art of Elysium is a true heart-based bright spot in the non profit arts sector.
I’ve been a volonteer with the charity for over a decade, going weekly to Kaiser and the CHLA to the wonderful Widney High school, the Art of elysium is the most wonderful part of my journey. Having the opportunity to be part of such a unique, kind and loving community and being able to share art with the kids has brought the most joy in my life for 12 years.
To all the behind the scenes people involve THANK YOU ! You know how much i love you.
I hope to see many more new volonteer and wish for them to meet all the amazing humans i have the luck to call my friends today.

THE BEST!!! I've worked in the nonprofit sector for over 25 years and The Art of Elysium is by far one of the best organizations I have come across. First of all, I love their mission. Now - let's talk about their programs. I love the work they do going into hospitals, institutions and organizations to bring the arts to those who have limited or no access. Whenever I mention them to someone, a huge smile comes across their face. I adore Jen, Leslie and the rest of the staff. Just brilliant, innovative and great energy all of the time. I am also obsessed with their art salons and events! I've watched them plan events and love that it's always with so much grace, compassion and drive. They go out of their way to shine a light on artists and have a special gift for making everyone they come in contact with feel good, which is a very special art.
I have been supportive of this charity for at least 10+ years and can not say enough positive things for all that this charity does for our community. I have been in a few of their programs and witnessed how people can heal their pain through art. The founder Jennifer Howell is such an inspirational leader with true vision and hope that art can heal all suffering and pain. I am so proud to say that I am part of this wonderful organization.
Although I have not yet worked with the Art of Elysuim personally yet, I very much believe in the power of art as a form of communication with God. I have personally seen and experienced how the healing powers of music, dance and art can move your soul into the presence of God. -Vanessa Kathleen Gomez
I have been a volunteer for The Art of Elysium since 2012. They are the most amazing non-profit I have ever volunteered with. They truly care about the communities they serve and work tirelessly to bring these communities life changing programming. I have seen first-hand the difference that their programs make - art truly does heal. And it creates a better world for us all. That is a truly beautiful and inspiring thing. I love what The Art Of Elysium stands for, the work that they do, the people that they bring together, and the more joyful world they are helping to create.
I’ve known Jennifer for several years. I admire her love and dedication to this program. It makes me happy to see the smile on the children’s faces.
By far my favorite NP, I’ve worked with them for years and they always provide for us and for the kids we help
This charity makes me want to be in programs every single day. I wish that my only obligation was to be in the field and be of service to those they serve. Creative connection!
There is nothing more inspiring than seeing Jennifer and her volunteers use their love of the arts to bring so much joy to countless lives. Her dear friend Stephen would be astounded at the impact his life and memory has made.
The Art of Elysium continues to bring happiness to children and adults alike through art, music, and creativity. The charity has helped thousands over the past 25 years and has been a light in the darkness for those going through difficult and often painful times in their life. It is a very worthwhile effort and I hope it continues for many years to come!!
Art, laughter, more art, tears, memories and so much more! If you love art and just being in the moment then this is the organization for you. Getting to create with people who need to be distracted from their circumstances and give back with your talent is just everything!
i’ve been associated w/ this NP for years. i will continue to help them in anyway i can bc of their true & sincere desire to help those in need.
I find it an honor to donate to this charity. The amount of people TAOE touches each and every year is beyond impressive. My dear friend started this ~25 yrs ago and to see her vision continue to grow and flourish is so rewarding!
I volunteer with this charity and it is truly amazing to see all the moving parts within this organization. The countless lives touched are immeasurable. Words can’t describe the many aspects that those served benefit from, as well as those who serve. This organization is truly a blessing to all those involved.
My daughter founded this charity in 1997 in honor of her friend Stephen Hatten. Stephen passed away the following year from leukemia. It was his wish that someone would help people less fortunate that he. Those with no support group, those who without the financial means to obtain need medical help. Jennifer founded the Art of Elysium to honor those wishes. Twenty Five years later his wishes are still being honored. I am so proud of what this dedicated group has accomplished and what they will do in the coming years.

I love the Art of Elysium and what they do. The use of art to enhance the lives of ill children is an amazing concept. The fact the A of E has been doing this for 13 years is a tribute to how important art is in everyone's life. The fact that the founder of this charity is my daughter, has no bearing on my review (well maybe just a little). Keep on making them smile..................
One of my favourite memories is of GIRL TALK and watching the girls do their dance routine at graduation. It is a moment that will forever live in my heart.

The dedication of bringing art and inspiration through the act of creation to the people who need it the most is the foundation of The Art of Elysium's work. It is incredible to witness the joy brought to those they serve, the staff at the facilities and to the artists themselves. It is a full circle of inspiration and creation. Create. Transcend. Transcend. Create.
It has been so wonderful getting to volunteer and be part of such an artistic and giving community. The staff, the volunteers and the people I get to volunteer with are really more of a gift to me than I could have ever imagined when starting this journey.
An incredible organization where you can see the direct and immediate effect of its work in the involvement and excitement of the children. I feel honored to be part of The Art of Elysium, and to be able to contribute in my small way!
Such a wonderful to place to volunteer and have meaningful experiences with a joyful, caring and compassionate community of artists, health care workers and patients. The work they do is so powerful and rewarding. I feel honored every time I am chosen to volunteer. They are super organized and communication is stellar.
I had a chance to experience the inspirational work that The Art of Elysium provides first hand, when my son broke his arm and had to go through a number of surgeries. While, he was, in the hospital at CHLA, my husband and I witnessed the extraordinary programs this organization brought to recovering children through music and art. I think the inspiration and art therapy that The Art of Elysium brought my children while we had our stay at CHLA was a definite factor in the healing process. Not only for my son but also as a family seeing our children, engaged and expressing themselves artistically while enduring a rough stay at the hospital, truly meant the world to our whole family. Since then my husband and I have volunteered and had the opportunity to be even more inspired by this amazing organization. Each time I engage with The Art of Elysium I am reminded by the enormous power of good this organization brings to the community at large.
The Art of Elysium is such a truly wonderful organization & one that I have had the pleasure of volunteering with for years. From the ease of setting up the initial orientation to the convenience and streamlined way of signing up for volunteer sessions, this non-profit shines behind the scenes, which really helps me & all the other volunteers, giving us the ability to focus solely on being present in the moment during our various volunteer workshops & being able to give our all to the kids we get to donate our time to. Because of The Art of Elysium, I am able to give my time, energy & creativity to something other than myself & I feel incredibly good about it & the tiny positive impact I am helping to make on the world.
A few years ago I started volunteering for Art of Elysium as a musician. I've played in hospitals and care facilities, bringing songs to people of all ages and in all conditions, and it has brought me immense joy. The Art of Elysium performs in invaluable service by bringing those in need of the inspiration of music and art together with volunteers, and it succeeds in this endeavor beautifully. Their staff members are hard-working intermediaries who make the volunteers' job extremely simple. I am grateful for this organization.
The Art of Elysium leads our communities at the intersection of art and humanity. Volunteering for The Art of Elysium is an entirely uplifting experience, and I am ineffably grateful for the opportunity to be involved. This remarkable organization and its incredible founder will stop at nothing to provide beautiful solutions in every place there is a need.
The Art of Elysium never fails to bring art back to the forefront, and refuses to compromise on the quality of care they show the people they work with. It's always an honor and privilege to get to work with and for this stellar organization! The founder's passion moves everyone lucky enough to be in their orbit.
The Art of Elysium has changed my perspective on giving time and creativity back to others. Working with such a stellar group of creatives inspires, enlights, and educates in ways that wouldn't be possible without this amazing nonprofit. To bring life to others through story and love is what it is all about.
Love the gifts this organization gives to the world and those children who need smiles the most! It is such a gift to be able to volunteer with them and be small a part of the joy they spread.
Every time I have an opportunity to volunteer with the Art of Elysium, my heart grows bigger. I am constantly amazed at the creative talents who join forces and bring art to life for children. For a few years now, I've acted out short stories and read books with young patients. The most rewarding experience is when animating these stories for all the young souls I see, their eyes and smiles brighten up the room and their hearts, no matter what challenges they face. They inspire me every day! Thank you Art of Elysium for providing such opportunities to grow with humankind.
During these unprecedented times Art of Elysium has been consistent in bringing a bit of normalcy to our students' academic program though music. We have seen students with low verbal skills engage in music singing with joy. The happiness Art of Elysium brings to our students is priceless. We love you and thank you very much.

I absolutely love this nonprofit and have been volunteering for them for about 6.5 years now. The staff puts everything they have into their work and helps so many people in need. Artists love the opportunity to give back to their community in such a meaningful way. I loved what Art of Elysium does so much that I decided to get my master’s in arts in medicine, all inspired by this organization. ❤️
The Art Of Elysium is a dream come true! As a volunteer, I have witnessed their magic first hand and have been honored to join them on their quest to spread kindness, inspiration, laughter and love! Thank you AOE!! You have me for life! :)

My husband and I have been volunteering with The Art of Elysium since we first met them around 6 months ago. Each and every event has been inspiring, interesting and FUN!!! The organization brings such joy to all of the kids and their families and we are truly honored to be a part of it. My next event is this Thursday and I can not wait!!! :)
The Art of Elysium has made more than an impact on me, it has changed my life. For years, they have given me an opportunity to give back through the arts, by volunteering in children’s hospitals and schools, skid row shelters and with the elderly. Seeing the impact it has on the children, teens and adults has brought a fullness to my life that I didn’t know was missing until I experienced it. As an actor, this business exposes me to a lot of superficialities...this organization grounds me, reminding me why I do what I do and that we are all connected through love and the arts. I’m forever grateful to discovering The Art of Elysium and that we have been so fortunate to touch so many lives over the years. It has been my honor to serve as a volunteer and member of Host Committee because I see how this organization truly makes this world a better place.
I have volunteered with The Art of Elysium for 10 years. I have seen first hand how much joy they bring to hospitalized children and their families. They have also provided me the opportunity to give back to our community by using my skills as a performer. They are a unique and vital organization and I whole heartedly support their mission.

I've had the most wonderful experience volunteering with the Art of Elysium. The staff and other volunteers are caring, warm, generous and supportive. It's exciting meeting the other creatives involved, seeing their artistic gifts and having a sense of shared purpose and family with them. It's been heartwarming connecting with youth through A of E, feeling like what we're doing is uplifting and inspiring to all of us!
We had a wonderful time volunteering all summer with The Art Of Elysium. Their passion for service is so clear in their actions and we are so proud to be part of their organization.
Supporting The Art of Elysium and getting to spend time with ill kids and teens in need has been an incredible experience. One that allows individuals to share love with each other through the arts. I hope to continue the work and to see the volunteering community grow.
Our Senior programs have been partnering with the Art of Elysium for over 4 years now. In the last 4 years, the creative programming they have brought to our Senior Centers has been amazing. Every staff member of their organization has always gone above and beyond to brighten our Seniors live. One of the Highlights last year was a Senior Prom. We had over 100 participants, and the event included great music, refreshments, decorations and we even Crowned the King and Queen and their Royal Court! Currently we have been able to have one of the Volunteers perform for us over ZOOM which was a memorable afternoon . I greatly appreciate everything the Art of Elysium has done for Jewish Family Service of Los Angeles, and we will continue to work together.
I have volunteered with this organization for the past five years, and it's hands-down the best nonprofit I've been a part of. The Art of Elysium truly makes a difference in the lives of children and seniors in care facilities, which is an incredibly beautiful thing.

Volunteering with AOE is one of the best experiences I've had in LA. The organization is super-well structured so that the artists can really connect with the kids. It's such an amazing program, getting to relate to the kids through art and help them enjoy it and have fun. The volunteers are awesome people, as well. I really can't say enough good things about this nonprofit!
I have been volunteering with the Art of Elysium for over 11 years. Even after all this time the same people (with some additional new faces) still have what seems like a never ending energy that inspires and brings out the best in people they encounter whether patients, parents, hospital staff or volunteers. They are like family to me now and fellow volunteers have become good friends. Every single experience has been amazing. Whether it’s doing art with children in the hospital, helping out with a prom for special needs students, holiday parties or special events- they quietly go about making Los Angeles a better place for so many people- myself included. I look forward to volunteering for many more years with AOE! Thank you AOE!
As a volunteer with Th Art of Elysium I've had the opportunity to work with so many great people - the community we serve, the staff and the other volunteers. They work so hard to make experiences that are both memorable and fun for the people we work with. I love what they do and I am so glad to be a part of it!
I have been doing volunteer work with the Art of Elysium for over two years now and it has been very rewarding to create art with kids, adults and the elderly alike. Everyone on the team has been fantastic to work with, they bring so much fun and create such good memories for people in distress - their help is really invaluable and I am very happy to be able to contribute to it. I am looking forward to making more art with them in the future!

I have been volunteering for over a year now, mostly helping Krista doing bedside art with the kids in the hospital and teaching seniors new art techniques. It is not only gratifying to see kids and seniors alike having so much fun doing art, it has also been a great experience for me. They bring entertainment and fun to the less fortunate, all the staff is very pro and they are great people to work with.
Volunteering for The Art of Elysium is one of the highlights of my month. I'm a singer and travel room to room at the hospital singing songs for families and patients in the waiting rooms and bedside. It is so fulfilling to connect with people through music, to give a bit of joy in a most likely stressful situation. It creates such powerful moments. I feel such a sense of purpose from each volunteering opportunity. I almost feel guilty about how much I get out of giving to my community. I'm so grateful for Art of Elysium!
I play guitar and sing for Art of Elysium. It truly is such a gift to be able to bring some light to people, mostly children in my case, if only for a few minutes in a day. I always leave my volunteering sessions with an overwhelming feeling of gratitude. I coordinate my dates/times volunteering with Andree Belle Conley, who is such a selfless, soulful person. It really is a privilege to be able to volunteer with an organization like Art of Elysium.
We enjoy the many program that they offer and bring so much joy and so many smiles to many families and children. The fashion and design program is amazing and creative as well as the visual art. Thank you so much Leslie , Amy, Krista and Shannon and the many volunteer that also come with their beautiful art . Bravo Joey too!!!
For the last 3 1/2 years I have been running a program for Senior Adults in the Los Angeles Community. The majority of my participants, live on a fixed income, are food challenged, and many do not have families. I have a very limited budget for "extras" (art, entertainment ect). The Art of Elysium has provided my members with some many wonderful activities which have included , an annual Mother's Day Make Over event, Sweet Hearts Dance, Music, Dance, Studio Art classes, Improv Shows, Fashion and Design programs, hat making, & an amazing Senior Prom which we recently had . The professional staff and volunteers are amazing. The staff is very dedicated to their work and always put their HEART & SOUL into everything they do . The Volunteers show so much compassion for the participants and truly give 150% of themselves when they come to our Center. The program at my Senior Center continues to grow and thrive as a result of the partnership I have with the Art of Elysium. I am grateful for all of the creative programming they bring to our Center every month.
As a volunteer, I look forward to participating in every Art of Elysium event I can make time for. The work they do across all their departments is creative and inspiring, particularly their Fashion Design program, where kids, young adults and seniors are really pushed beyond their creative limits to further create some beautiful things. I highly recommend getting involved in this organization even if you’re not a creative person.
The Art of Elysium provides much-needed fun, art, and enjoyment to children and seniors who need it the most. I've been fortunate to volunteer with them for the past 4-5 years and have been continually impressed with the positive difference they make. Whether it's through bringing in authors to read stories, helping kids create their own stories, playing improv games to make kids smile, or finding new ways to make kids shine and smile, The Art of Elysium provides important, heart-centered services our Los Angeles communities.
The Art of Elysium is an amazing non profit organization! The AOE has provided many resources for high school students such as Fashion and Design, makeup-overs and bringing in professionals + volunteers to this school. It has brought much joy to many students.
The Art of Elysium is the best nonprofit organization. Which provides art, fashion, design, makeovers, music, and theater for our students. Moreover, the staff and volunteers at The Art of Elysium have bonded with our students and enriched their lives.
As a Child Life Specialist, we work with AOE to provide normalcy and assist patients with exploring their creativity within a stressful environment. It is such a pleasure to work alongside the director's and the volunteers they bring. Each director possess' an ability to individualize every project according to our patients strength's as well as recognize and offer additional resources to assist with their coping. Their contribution to our unit is invaluable, their magic is inescapable and their generosity is uplifting!!!
As a volunteer w/The Art of Elysium, the first thing that stands out is how incredibly well organized and thoughtful each exchange is – TAOE makes it logistically easy to volunteer. Beyond that simple but meaningful logistic, the underlying compassion and joy of the organization is contagious and inspiring. Their great work makes you (as a volunteer) want to do more great work, with them.
Art of Elysium has worked with LAFH, providing the music and movement and fashion and design programs. These programs have included and benefited children aged 8-12 greatly at our housing fancily in Boyle Heights (Comunidad Cesar Chavez).
We appreciate the partnership we have with Art of Elysium!
We are extremely grateful to Art of Elysium for coming every week to engage with our children who are experiencing homelessness. The children look forward to AOE volunteers coming every week and we've seen it lift their spirits during their time of transition. Thank you Art of Elysium!
I've been volunteering with this organization for a couple of years and they are such an amazing team! They do a tremendous amount of work with such dedication and poise. They are the best!
Volunteering and using art to support, empower, and bring hapiness to those indivuals in need is priceless! Amazing and gratifying experience.
The Art of Elysium is such an amazing gem for LA, providing creative outlets from terminal patients, small children, to homeless teens and the elderly. The entire staff is exceptional and brings smiles to so many, opening up creative channels and fun interactive projects to feed their creative minds.
I am moved beyond words by the work done by The Art of Elysium. I have participated in several events with the charity and have seen first hand the joy that their outreach program has brought to countless children. I’m looking forward to becoming a volunteer myself.
I love volunteering for The Art of Elysium. It’s the only time I forget all my problems and worries. I always feel like a million bucks when I leave one of their artists programs.
I have volunteered with Art of Elysium for a year and the experience has been very rewarding and beautiful. At a time when the quality of art programs in public schools continues to decrease or they completely disappear, the work Art of Elysium does is very important. And they do it with passion and purpose. Every month I spend 2 hours doing art projects on the pediatrics floor of a hospital in Los Angeles. The joy it brings to the kids is immeasurable. I have met kids experiencing all types of different medical situations and sometimes it is kids as young as 6 going through cancer treatment. And the fun and excitement they get in those 2 hours can give them just a little bit of hope and encouragement. Often the parents of the kids are there and they express how grateful they are to see their kid smiling and engaged in a project while they are in the hospital!
this is one of my favorite charities - has been for such a long time. the experience volunteering is as meaningful for the volunteer as it is for the recipient, and there is so much love involved in all aspects of everything The Art of Elysium and their incredible staff does to help people in need, and the artists who have a gift to give.
I’ve been a volunteer with the charity for 11+ years and in spite of being told I’m giving of my time I feel like I’m being given to more than I am actually giving. Going into hospitals and homeless shelters sharing art and participating in self esteem workshops is beyond rewarding, additionally meeting emerging artists who support the cause while also witnessing them flourish has been amazing. Attending and participating in signature events/fund raisers has also been an incredible experience. The charity has become like home and those involved like family. If you like fashion, music, fine art or film You will love and benefit from becoming a Volunteer, sponsor, donor, art collector or patron of arts.
I have witnessed first hand how this exceptional organization operates. Giving artists the opportunity to use their creativity in service not only inspires the creative process, but empowers varying individuals this organization proudly serves. Thanks to the Art of Elysium, I don’t know who benefited more, the people I had the good fortune to create art with, or me.
The programming with the Art of Elysium has so many avenues to touch our global community and mind set, that by activating our artist community in this way, the world can be forever a better place :)))))
Our children's hospital is so very lucky to have Art of Elysium visit our pediatric patients once a week, providing either music or fashion/art driven projects. Many of our chronic kids look forward to their visits and continue talking about what fun they've had long after they have left. Art of Elysium staff and volunteers do a phenomenal job of connecting with patients and providing them a sense of normalcy. They help break the monotony of their hospital stay and truly bring love, light and laughter to each child. We are ever so grateful for our friends at Art of Elysium.
It is amazing to see how art can brighten someone's day. I applaud the Art of Elysium and everything they do to help our community. It's been a wonderful and meaningful experience working with them!
I volunteered last week with their music program and was moved so much by the experience. The program director’s knowledge, consideration and kindness with myself, the children & elders I volunteered for, and the staff at the facility was next level! The experience was truly inspiring and I can’t wait to do it again xxx

The Art of Elysium is truly a unique organization, filled with kind hearts and brilliant minds. The Art of Elysium is an extraordinary organization dedicated to serving various communities in need by connecting them with artists from all walks of life. Getting to witness first-hand the positive impact we get to make on these individuals is priceless. But one of the finer points nobody prepares you for is the growth each and every artist experiences as a result of their participation. It really cannot be accurately verbalized. The world needs more organizations like The Art if Elysium, for everyone's sake.
The Art of Elysium celebrates 20 years in August! I am so honored to be part of this organization that focusses on empowering those in the midst of challenge and/or crisis by connecting artists to communities of need. I have seen first hand the healing powers that creativity brings to those that need it most and how artists who use their creativity in service, too are changed. I'm so excited about all that the future holds as artists truly have the power to change the world through art!

The Art of Elysium is not only a non-profit organization, it is a full-circle movement that empowers both individuals in communities of need and artists who generously volunteer their time and talents.
The launch of Elysium Bandini Studios has created unprecedented opportunities for artists and communities to come together despite their current challenges and/or crisis. It has been an absolute honor to be a part of an organization that continues to change the face of philanthropy through the healing power of art.
I've known of the charity a few years and have heard of all the great work they do. More recently, I've volunteered and no words can express the wonderful impact it has on the volunteers and the communities served. The work of the charity truly is inspiring and shows the important impact art has on the world at large. Thank you Thank you!
We had an amazing charity event in Santa Monica and one of the reasons it was SO successful was due to The Art of Elysium. We were so happy with the professionalism of this nonprofit organization and now incredibly helpful and accommodating Amy Belknap was with our event. They really did go above and beyond to help us make our event special. We had over 500 people on the day and a lot of children that of course love music, crafts and having their face painted.
We at the Walk for Williams Syndrome Association are all so grateful for the time and hard work that was put in to making our event the best year so far!
We would highly recommend The Art of Elysium and I hope to have them at our future events.
Thank you again for everything you have done for us, we look forward to our future events with The Art of Elysium!

I took the course. A few years later was attacked in a public restroom. The guy was much bigger than me. I knocked him out. I was not raped! I'm a huge advocate!
The Art of Elysium is a special organization that provides an opportunity for creative artists to share their talents in a meaningful way. Most artists know how life enhancing their creative process is for them, and thus how beneficial it can be for others. The Art of Elysium provides access to settings not available to the general public and support to artists in understanding how to adapt their art process to the settings.
Iv'e been a volunteer for this amazing group for over 6 years now. It's such wonderful experience to help out in any way I can.To see these children happy mean the world to me. I don't get to volunteer as much as I would like , but I'm always so blessed to help. The best part is knowing you made a child smile for the day. Wonderful organization!!
I've had the pleasure of working with the Art of Elysium for the past few years and it's been an amazing experience. You're able to brighten a child's day and help them take their mind off being in treatment. The organization makes it very easy to pick days/times that work for your schedule, and plan different projects that you think the kids would enjoy. Being able to brighten someone's day is priceless.
If you want to have fun, work with inspiring artists, and make kids excited about life- this is the organization for you. Our workshops are designed to help kids forget, for the slightest moment, that they are in the hospital. To see the resilience of special needs kids (in a creative environment) is an awesome experience. The Elysium is good for the soul!!! The program directors are very organized, and the art events are really cool. They make it easy to find your way to the work locations, and are always there to make sure you feel comfortable in new surroundings. To be a volunteer, with such a giving organization, offers a great sense of accomplishment and pride. It is easy, super fun, and social.
The Art of Elysium is an amazing organization that works directly with the community to bring all forms of art to people in need. I have had the wonderful opportunity this summer to intern with the organization and see first hand how much time, commitment and passion goes into everything they do. I have been able to learn so much about helping others and seen the lasting impact they leave on every one they touch.
A few years ago I was introduced to the Art of Elysium founder, Jeniffer Howell through a mutual friend.
I could not believe the compassion and love everyone has at AOE!
I went on several volunteer hospital visits, and was so overwhelmed by the children,
They are not sad, they are so engaging and full of love.. I had to go and compose myself a few times, but the love and prayers flowing filled the entire children's wing!
Anytime I'm in town I really try to go back and help! It's a game changer! For the children & ours.
Best always,

I don't think there's a group of people more devoted to spreading hope and love than The Art of Elysium! The ladies running the organization are so caring and seriously invested in the patients' comfort, care, respect and engagement, and go above and beyond in compassion for the families and kids that are served. It's truly a pleasure to volunteer with such kind and generous hearts, each and every time!
I was introduced to the Art of Elysium when my husband played at the charity event, Genesis in 2014. The show's producer told me that they needed volunteers and that it was a great organization. I first started volunteering at the children's ward at the hospitals doing art project and this year transitioned to volunteering with Leslie and Amy who are amazing at the McBride Special Education Center and it's been precious to spend time with the students and devoted teachers. Hopefully, will try to take some time off to help at the senior center. Feels like I receive more than I give and giving support is a blessing. _/|\_
The Art of Elysium is an extraordinary foundation that allows children, teens, and adults access to arts in hospitals, special-care facilities and assistant living. I'm very proud to have been able to be a part of the cause by working with children and teens, undergoing medical treatments in hospitals and special needs facilities. It been an honor to introduce fashion design and fashion illustration to many beautiful souls through the Art of Elysium. I'm fortunate that I was able to work with amazing kids and teens and see their creativity first-hand. I'm a huge believer that a happy person is a health person and if someone can share and help another explore the arts (visual, music, theater, and fashion) it will only enrich our society and make us even more human, it's truly a wonderful thing. Thank you The Art of Elysium, it's been an unforgettable journey.
I have been working with The Art of Elysium for 6 years now, and it continues to inspire me more each year! Hundreds of artists benefit greatly from being able to share their talents and creativity to positively affect various communities of need including medically fragile children, seniors, homeless, mental health support groups and many more. The need is endless and The Art of Elysium is truly forging the way to help heal the world through art!

I am so grateful to have discovered The Art of Elysium over 5 years ago as a volunteer, and it only keeps getting better! The work we are able to do with children and other populations of need is extremely valuable. I am blessed to get to see daily the way a hospital room or treatment facility is transformed as laughter, love and art fill the room and change both the patient and the artist volunteer for good. It is an amazing organization filled with some of the best people I've met in Los Angeles! I can't think of a better way to spend your time and invest your resources. Join us in our mission to heal the world through art!
I have been with the Art of Elysium since 2014. It is amazing watching this beautiful foundation grow. What an honor working with the population that we serve, and are so blessed to work with some of the most talented artists in the world! We offer programs in hospitals, schools, centers working with not only children, but now seniors and the homeless. One can volunteer with many curriculum's. We offer artists opportunities to volunteer with fine arts, music, acting, and fashion and design. We are growing exponentially having created the first philanthropic film studio which helps support film projects of students and professionals called Elysium Bandini. We not only heal through art, but it is lovely watching our volunteer artists soar! Come volunteer!

I have had the utmost pleasure to work with The Art of Elysium for over a year now. The Art of Elysium is more than just a job, more than just about volunteering, it is simply a way of life. This organization runs very professionally and efficiently. I enjoy working with fashion and other design professionals to assist medically disabled youth, to make their own creative forays into the world of high fashion, through colorful hospital workshops and bedside projects. Lead workshops that might include: jewelry and clothing design, a fashion photo shoot, makeovers, styling and more. The Art of Elysium has various curriculum for artists interested in volunteering with Fine Arts, Acting / Writing, Music and Movement, and Fashion and Design. It is enjoyable watching them grow as the full circle concept, while they branch out working with elders and the homeless both in Los Angeles and New York!
The Art of Elysium is a non-profit artist organization that empowers artists to bring their creativity to communities of need. It is truly inspiring to see the interactions and how it changes both the artist and the individuals in need.

I have had the privilege to be the LA Program Director for The Art of Elysium for 7 years. I truly believe in our mission and have seen it come to life daily. By facilitating the community artists to share their creativity and passion to medically fragile youth in hospitals and special education schools, I have had the pleasure to see how it positively impacts both the artists, children and families. Not only are we sharing the everlasting gift of art but we are also helping children and families through a difficult time in their life. And in turn we are inspiring artists to continue spreading their talent to the world around us.
It will be 19 years of The Art of Elysium on August 15, 2016 and it has been an amazing journey. I stand in absolute awe of our artists, people that we are able to bring the joy of arts to and the incredible staff that literally bridges the gap between these communities. We started out serving hospitalized children and have expanded to also serve elders and the homeless community. We look forward to taking the healing power of arts into prisons and veterans hospitals and to any other place where people can heal their lives through artistic expression.

I have been blessed to have so many various roles with The Art of Elysium and have seen the organization from all sides. This year the artists have expanded to work with hospitalized youth, elder care facilities, the homeless community and will be expanding into prisons and veterans hospitals. The greatest gift is to be of service through our personal creative process. The AofE bridges the gap between artists and those in need and that is a true blessing.
I have been working with Art of Elysium for over five years now. Going room to room doing Improv games with sick children getting treatments in the hospital and intensive care unit. When we enter these rooms the energy is down. Somber. Quite. By the time we are done playing our games, singing or songs, and getting the child to participate in the fun, the energy has completely changed in the room. Smiles. Light. Love. The Art of Elysium is doing something VERY special. Everyday. Going to where people need it THE MOST. And connecting artists who spread joy and love to those who need it.
To simply say that it is an honor to be a part of this organization is a gross understatement. At AOE we are not only blessed enough to be able to serve communities in need - but the impact that the work has on our artists serves an entirely new purpose. Being able to give the gift of art/happiness to both communities in need and the countless of volunteers that work for us means more than anyone could possibly explain and is a cause unlike any other!
The Art of Elysium is, by far, the most inspirational organization I've ever witnessed. As an artist and business owner, I am continually moved (blown away), by the hard work, vision and heart of the Founder, Jennifer Howell and the devoted team that she has.
Together, their creative outreach programs have touched and have had a priceless impact on countless lives. It's a joy to see The Art of Elysium continue to grow and reach even more children and adults with the healing power of art and love.
One of the most amazing charities I have ever worked with - seeing what they do first hand at the hospitals has been both an honor and a privilege.
The Art of Elysium has been a part of my life for the last 8 years. I have had the pleasure of working with the communities they serve in very facets and love that they have widened the scope of their services to include other people in need of inspiration. Donate your time, money, anything you can to this extremely worthy cause.
The Art of Elysium brings joy to the eyes, minds and hearts of many children and their families! Their programming consistently delivers on their mission.
The Elysium is very fun on many levels, for everyone involved! I joined in 2011 as a carpenter, and now have an amazing sculpture workshop, of my own development, which is the most fun thing I do every month. The kids can't believe their good fortune when I show up with the amazing wood scraps and glue, and I believe that I am having more fun than them! The kids are very inspiring to the adults who work with them, and we always laugh a lot. In addition, the events and fundraising opportunities are really cool. As a professional artist, I can say that this type of work is essential to an artist's continual development. To create a workshop is the best way to learn from our youth, because they are as experimental as we adults should be on a daily basis. The Elysium operates very smoothly, and its communication system is top notch. They make you feel important and create an awesome environment for creativity!
I absolutely love this organization! Such a fabulous idea and a great way to help make someone's day a little bit better. I stumbled across this organization back when I was living in Chico and knew I had to volunteer once I got relocated to LA for a new job. The people who run it are wonderful! I've mostly worked with Krista & Leslie, but I'm sure everyone is great. They very flexible, friendly, and make you feel right at home. I highly recommend any artist, music, designer, actor, or anyone interested in those fields to volunteer. You won't regret it!
I have been privileged to have the Art of Elysium directly affect my family. I have attended many of their benefits in which volunteers are joyfully making art, face painting, singing, and drumming with children who have more challenges in their young lives then I can imagine. The pure joy which is generated by all participants is inspiring. This is my favorite local charity to which we donate. Their work is transformative.
I joined The Art of Elysium's team 2 years ago to help facilitate and manage the Theatre/Media Arts programs we run with critically ill youth in hospitals all over the greater Los Angeles area.
Currently I am the Director of Elysium Industry, which incorporates our artist services side of our mission and brings everything full circle by providing career support for actors, directors, writers and theater production professionals, who volunteer their time to our theatre arts programs. My experience with The Art of Elysium has been life changing. I feel blessed to be moved daily by the beautiful children we work with and the generous volunteers, who dedicate and give so much of themselves to our organization. Jennifer Howell put in place 16 years ago a mission to build an artistic community of artists who are philanthropic first and want to give back and heal the world through art.
I have been volunteering for The Art of Elysium since 2008 and the organization is very dear to my heart. When I tell friends about The Art of Elysium I always start with "It is the only time when I am out of my own head." There is a symbiosis that happens when artists interact with children. Creativity is the common ground and I have found that the volunteers are benefitting from these experiences just as much as the children. The goal of the charity is to offer creative respite for children that do not get a lot of social interaction due to various illnesses, but I can say that the profundity extends to the volunteers as well. Founder Jennifer Howell puts it best when she says, "We aren't a charity, we are a family of artists." I believe this to be true. In addition to serving thousands of children annually, The Art of Elysium takes great pride in its volunteers and makes great efforts to nurture their careers. I'm grateful to be a part of this organization.
My first experience with The Art of Elysium was over 6 years ago when a friend asked me to donate art for a fundraising auction. As he shared how the organization worked with children who were battling serious medical conditions, I felt uplifted. Throughout my childhood my brother dealt with a serious illness that had him in and out of hospitals for many years. After seeing first hand how The Art of Elysium positively impacted so many young people, like my brother, with art, I was forever connected. My roll with the organization has expanded to Curatorial Director where I am fortunate to bring art into hospitals and engage with artists who donate not only their work but their time. The reactions I have witnessed from both children and artists have been truly inspiring.
I have been involved The Art of Elysium as Sponsor first.
I thought this is great organisation for both side.
As a Sponsor will get a lot of Marketing and Communication opportunity and going to goodwill.
And now I am in charge Elysium Collection, this is my dream come true.
Woking with this very unique idea , Full-Circle Model will directly impact more than 50,000 artists and children each year, fueling artistic work and advancing careers while providing improved quality of life.
The staff and volunteers of The Art of Elysium are some of the most dedicated individuals I've ever met and the differences they've made in the lives of hospitalized children in Los Angeles and New York is incredible. It takes a tremendous amount of strength to work with children day in and day out, many of whom are in very dire medical predicaments, and folks at this organization do it with pride, compassion, spirit and dignity.
My association with The Art of Elysium began in 2009 when I joined the organization as an Actor Volunteer. I was thrilled to find an opportunity not only to work with children, but to do so by sharing my particular skill set. Whether I was participating in the Animated Storytelling program or visiting patient rooms to play improv games, I left every workshop with such a feeling of exhilaration and gratitude, having found a way to use my craft to serve hospitalized children. In 2012 I was lucky enough to be offered the position of Theatre and Media Arts Manager within the organization and am still thanking my lucky starts that I get to spend every day facilitating the connection between artists and children, enabling a shared experienced based on self- expression, creativity, and human connection through the medium of Theatre.
As the National Development Director for The Art of Elysium I have had had the opportunity to witness the impact of the artists and children as they engage with one another exploring their own individual creativity and passion. For the child, in the presence of an artist, they are not alone and they are not identified solely by their illness. They have the opportunity to explore various mediums for expression and find their own voice. For the artist, in the presence of a child, they are reminded of the impact of their art and how critical it is to the healing process. They are truly inspired to make change and create a world that promotes expression and creativity.
Having worked for many non-profit organizations over the course of my career, I can say that The Art of Elysium is one of the best. As the Fine Arts Manager, I have the pleasure of working directly with volunteers who share their time with the youth they serve. This organization truly allows volunteers to share their talents directly with children in need, developing art projects themselves. It is rare to find non-profits in which the volunteer's areas of expertise are used so specifically. The Art of Elysium also values the talents of those that volunteer and is committed to a 360 model of philanthropy that gives back to those that give to the organization.
I have been involved with AofE for years, and I am always so humbled by the children they serve. Its an amazing organization that brings joy and a creative outlet to kids that are suffering, and always reminds those who volunteer about the things that are really important in life.
Volunteering with AOE has been super rewarding, I was nervous at first, but as soon as you see the kids you are completely consumed by making art with them, seeing them smile and getting into the project! It always makes my day, i would highly suggest signing up to volunteer!
I have volunteered with The Art of Elysium for years and I am consistently impressed with the passion and dedication displayed by the entire staff. Every AOE staff member is as inspiring as the next. Get involved if you can - I promise you it will change your life.
i am working with aoe on the design of their space - jennifer has an amazing passion for this cause which is not only contagious - it is inspiring
I love working with Art of Elysium. They make it so easy for me to share my music with the kids at the hospital. It's profound to be able to bring art and music to otherwise somewhat cold and clinical environment and I think its so cool that Art of Elysium brings all different artistic mediums to them and allows and encourages them to participate. All kids should get to experience music and art all the time, but especially these kids. It's so important that they get some fun too!
If I get to be even a tiny part of that and brightening up their day with a distraction or something other than doctors and medicine and machines, then I feel like a million bucks and Im just really glad that there's a great structured system for AOE in place to make it so easy to do with out getting in the way of their medical treatment or being disruptive.
The staff is very friendly and all that's required is one orientation. So easy to do.
There are a myriad of Charities from which to choose to donate to, and none are more accessible than The Art of Elysium. Jen Howell's founding story is beyond touching. She moves thousands with her eternal grace and compassion, and you can't help wishing you could do more. The work is magical, and having a niece who was born needing a brain surgery, and sitting in Detroit's children's hospital surrounded by so many little ones whose parents couldn't afford to take off time to spend round the clock to be near their children...was heart wrenching. I truly wish that each and every hospital, and rehab center had The Art of Elysium programs, most hospitals are so dreary, and the kids are already suffering and so scared...they could all be helped so much. It is really amazing how each child lights up when the volunteers show up, and how for those moments they get transported for a quick escape, and they feel so good.
I hope that everyone sees the worthiness of this program, Jen Howell and all of her fabulous volunteers. It is a GREAT Nonprofit.
I wrote about my experience with Art of Elysium on my website:
http://www.daedesign.com/archives/2101
One of the great things about The Art of Elysium is the emphasis on encouraging those touched by illness to participate and to CREATE -- over my many years of volunteering as a writer, actor, and improv performer, I have been directed by children of all ages (including their parents and other family members) to be a pirate searching the ocean for bumblebees, an elephant looking for his daughter in a secret cave under Disneyland, a bad guy who turns all of the ice cream in Los Angeles into broccoli, a tiny, tiny, tiny little boy who can only communicate by clapping, a surgeon who also happens to be King of the Parasaurolohuses, and countless other incredible characters in creative settings. The joy shared by all during The Art of Elysium's programs is palpable and unforgettable.
The Art of Elysium came into our lives 2 days after my 17 yr. old daughter Katie was diagnoised with AML leukemia. It was a dark time for all of us, no reason to smile or laugh. When Nura walked into our room with her guitar and starting singing to us, I felt a reason to smile. That was what we experienced for the remainder of Katie's 6 month hospital stay. Twice a week we knew we could count on these talent smiling faces to cheer us up, make us laugh or make us feel loved. So thankful for you all.

I have been doing workshops and bedside visits with The Art of Elysium for several years now and honestly I am honored to be a part of such an amazing group of loving and talented individuals ... I am blessed every time I get to work with them ... They absolutely do make a huge difference in the lives of the children and families we visit. They have an incredible hands on outreach into our community that I have not seen with any other organization
I have been volunteering with the Art of Elysium for about two years now. I always leave after volunteering feeling amazing. I am so honored to be associated with an organization that does such incredible and inspiring work. Art truly heals, not just for the individuals and families being served by this organization, but for the volunteers as well. In addition, The leadership is incredible and compassionate. I have only volunteered for the art side (as opposed to the drama and music portions), but I can say without a doubt that Leslie and Krista are two of the most wonderful people I have met and worked with. Volunteering with them has changed my life for the better, and the Art of Elysium deserves to be recognized for the valuable service that they offer.
I have been volunteering with The Art of Elysium for a while now and I thank God for finding them. The work they do by helping kids in hospitals and in specialty schools is remarkable and it's making a difference in those kids lives, in my life and thus making the world a better place!
Such a great organization. Well-organized with great staff. They really respect and show so much appreciation for their volunteers. It is always a pleasure to work with The Art of Elysium, and I have had so many moving experiences in my years of volunteering with them!

The Art of Elysium is the best non-profit I've ever worked with!
I've always wanted to volunteer my time to a worthy cause, but found so many organizations sadly disorganized and difficult to work with.
I've volunteered regularly with the Art of Elysium for 3 years now, and can truly say they are a GREAT organization!
They have AMAZING people working for them, are really well-organized, and take great care of their volunteers...and deeply respect and appreciate the people who volunteer their time..
And of course they are doing fantastic work!
I attended the orientation meeting and am really looking forward to participating with this wonderful organization! The meeting was very casual, friendly, and welcoming.
AOE rocks and is one of the best non-profits around. The importance of creativity to motivate and inspire can sometimes be over looked. AOE provides inspiration and delivers hope.
AOE is a great charity. It brings joy to everyone involved the kids, the parents and the volunteers.
Years back a close friend of mine turned me onto the work of AOE. I remember clearly saying to myself wow what a great idea. I one day would like to do that. Several years passed since that event the seed was planted. Call it maturity or what not I found myself in a place in my life where I deeply recognized the value of being of service and of service work to those around me. I thought for years that money and donations were the solution but in my experience there is nothing more gratifying than being hands on and sharing an experience with another one person/parent and or child. I am grateful to the AOE for giving beyond the scope of their mission, and giving me as well an avenue to which I may also find joy, peace, gratitude and love.
Have been to several events hosted by AOE. Every time I leave, I feel very grateful to have been a part of it. Truly inspiring. Everyone involved is simply incredible.
Every time I volunteer with The Art of Elysium I walk out feeling inspired and grateful. Inspired by the kids who are so excited to create and grateful for the love and life that surround me. Despite the sadness and weight of many of the stories, the children are eager to learn and grow, to smile and to laugh. The perspective and insight into different worlds and experiences they provide is truly invaluable. The lovely people who run the organization are tireless in their passion that art can be a fun conduit to make a difference in so many young people's hearts.
Fantastic. What a loving, giving organization. Channeling the creative force here in Los Angeles in a positive way.
The Art of Elysium is by far one of the best non-profits of all. They help children in Hospitals keep working in their dreams and believing that there's much more in life than just pain and suffer. They represent the Sun shining in the middle of a dark night. Congratulation to the whole team and I hope that they keep their mission up for many, many years to come. They will always have my support!
For over two years my girlfriend and I have been playing music bedside for children in hospitals and care facilities. This a great organization to work with, they are staffed by fantastic caring people and they do wonderful work!
We all know that the creative arts are inspiring, but Art of Elysium has taught us that they are also healing. I am incredibly grateful to Art of Elysium for creating an accessible outlet for artists to volunteer their time and craft to such inspiring and amazing children. I always feel that everyone's day is brighter when Art of Elysium enters a room, from the children, to volunteers, to hospital staff and parents. The power of the smiles Art of Elysium generates inspire everyone involved from one visit to the next.
I've had an amazing experience volunteering with Art of Elysium. They seek to inspire both children who are suffering from medical conditions as well as the artists who volunteer. It has been a joy and a blessing to donate time to a well-organized and thoughtful organization and to brighten the lives of children who are in need of distraction and creative stimulation.
Everyone loves art! This is a fantastic way to see first hand how art makes a difference all our lives.
It has been a pleasure for me to be a volunteer for Art of Elysium. I've been able to do art projects with kids that are going through serious medical procedure. I can say that my experiences as a volunteer have been magical. They go from feeling inspired by a kid that has an amazing spirits despite his illness and loves drawing with the art of Elysium volunteers, to help a kid that doesn't feel inspired to play with us and by the time you leave he has finished his painting and even better he has a smile on his face. I love art of elysium and there work because we help this kids escape their reality and be creative. And when you are creating, you are in the moment and when you are living in the moment you are happy. Every time I leave, I don't feel sad about what they are going through, I feel compassionate and happy to play with them and make them laugh.
It was great working with the kids. I think it is a great program for the children and the parents, It gives them a break from their hospital life. It also gives us the volunteers the chance to participate in their recovery through all the different modalities that they get to experience. Also, The Art of Elysium staff and Hospital staff are very sweet and easy to work with.
I am grateful for the opportunity to share my Fabricated Hearts with all of them.
Art of Elysium is one of the most organized, hands-on groups I've ever volunteered with. After attending the orientation, they let me jump right in and start signing up for volunteer opportunities. Even with my busy schedule, there are plenty of events/workshops that I'm available for. It was so much fun to see the smiles on the faces of patients and family members at the Shriners Halloween Party. And I have to say, I never thought I would be singing Disney songs karaoke-style en Espanol with a clown wig on! Every experience has been unique, memorable, and REAL - this isn't a group that asks you to put on a t-chirt and stand on the sidelines, or wander around soliciting donations. You are right there with the kids, helping them forget their problems and learn and grow as people and artists. Thank you so much Art of Elysium!
Art of Elysium volunteers have brought laughter and music to my child on chemo days. In addition to the vomit and other undesirable side effects of chemotherapy, days spent at the hospital are boring. Exceptionally boring. But the Art of Elysium days end with a smile - and happy memories. Leaving the hospital happy makes a huge difference in my son's chemotherapy experience.
We were also blessed by Art of Elysium volunteers at We Can Brain Tumor Family Camp. In addition to working with the brain tumor patients, the Art of Elysium volunteers embraced the siblings and their unique needs. Being a sibling of a child requiring so much attention would be difficult. The volunteers took the time to understand what that would be like and gave the siblings a chance to express themselves.
This is an organization that uplifts and recharges the spirit of those in need. Thanks!
I have been volunteering for Art of Elysium for about a year now. I absolutely love this organization. I was looking to volunteer for an organization that encourages volunteers to donate their talents on a personalized level. It is a very rewarding feeling to be able to work with these amazing kids and help bring their spirits up. :)
I was looking for an organization to give my talents to in LA. I have been blessed and wanted to help others. I had no idea what I was asking for. When I met the Art of Elysium my life was changed. From the first time I played music at the Children's Hospital for kids that could not get out into the general assembly, I knew this was important. Some of the children are in a hospital bed all of the time and the costs can be so high that sometimes their folks can't always miss work to be by their side. AOE brings the music and arts to them. I have played music in room to room visits where the emotional outpouring of thankfulness was overwhelming. I have led song-writing workshops with children that if not for this great charity, may have never written a song. The therapeutic side of this gift is immeasurable as it gives the kids a voice, a way to show their friends and family how much they love and appreciate them. This is an amazing group filled with loving folks that care about others a great deal. Bringing love through music and the arts to children that other wise would not get this is an amazing gift.
This is a magical charity that has allowed me to play music for children with serious medical challenges. I cannot tell you how much joy Art of Elysium brings to kids. I have seen it with my own eyes!
I LOVE The Art of Elysium!!! All there is to be said! Get involved and see what an incredible organization this is!
I have been working with The Art of Elysium for 6 years now volunteering my time whenever I am in Los Angeles and New York. To see what these children face on a daily basis and the strength within all of them is truly amazing. It is unlike anything I have ever seen or read about before and moves you in a spiritual way that is undeniable. i am a fine artist, and to be able to share what I do with these children and let them be an extension of my art through their own eyes has become something that I just can't live without. I cherish this organization and what they do and am most humbled to be a part of this wonderful family of artists.
My Wife and I both contribute financially to this organization since we do not live in the Los Angeles or New York area, but being a craftsman myself, when I heard about what this organization does in bring creativity and arts into hospitals for children that would otherwise not be able to express this, that was all I had to hear. I am very proud to be a part of this organization and will continue to give as much as I am able to.
I found about The Art of Elysium through my son that works for the organization and am very proud to be able to contribute to this amazing cause. I have seen what an art kit is and what it can do for a child that is hopitalized. That is just a small viewing in the immense world that is The Art of Elysium, and i look forward to continuing my support for many years to come
There is nothing more I love then getting in the hospital and doing art, acting, or music with the kids. I really enjoy going to USC and working with all the children there. They really inspire the creative side of me and make such a difference in my own life. I am very grateful to have this organization as a part of my life and am always speaking about it to everyone I know
I recently experienced the magic and wonders of the Art of Elysium firsthand when one of your employees, Natasha Aiello worked with my niece during a crafts workshop. The enthusiasm of my young niece is something that's unequaled, but when she met Natasha she had met her match. Such an angelic intelligent woman who relates to children on their level is something that seems to fit more into storybooks than 2011 southern California.
In any case, Kaitlynn had the pleasure of working with Natasha on two separate occasions. It was quite awhile between workshops, but the way my niece ran toward her with open arms and shouted her name when she saw her the second time said it all.
Natasha Aiello and the Art of Elysium love children and they understand them.
I LOVE the Art of Elysium! I attended one of their fundraisers and just had the best time possible! The friendly staff answered any questions and their mission and message is truly inspiring! I hope I will get to attend another event sooner rather than later!
I fell in love with The Art of Elysium instantly. I have never met a group of people with bigger hearts and such boundless creativity. They are truly an inspiration to not only the children they work with and the artists they service, but to us all. I am so lucky to to have experienced and learned about their incredible programming and mission.
I was first introduced to AOE by a friend who works there. I quickly became an active volunteer after hearing and seeing the passion behind the charity not only in those that work there but the ones that they serve as well. Each event or fundraiser I have attended has been an absolute blast and very well put together.
A friend of mine turned me into the Art of Elysium. I went to an orientation a few years ago and have been volunteering since. I'm a singer/guitar player and I go to children’s hospitals to sing for the kids. It has been an amazing experience thanks to the generous and caring individuals at AOE, but also in no small part thanks to the amazing children I have met over the years. AOE is an incredible organization and I'm very proud to be associated with them. I encourage anyone reading this to look them up and get involved. Best decision I've ever made!
I came to the Art of Elysium through a dear friend who whisked me away to a songwriting workshop for kids with brain tumors. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I fell in love with the kids and the organization instantly! Experiencing not only amazing and inspiring moments but finding a community of do-gooders who are like-minded and professional, who want nothing more then to inspire the world and make it a better place for hospitalized children.
Thank you the Art of Elysium!!!
As a professional with twenty five years' experience running art therapy and arts education programs in hospital settings, I can say that The Art of Elysium is a truly unique organization that fills a huge gap. With funding for therapeutic and educational arts program at an all-time low, the hundreds of volunteer artists and performers that The Art of Elysium trains and brings into hospitals are the often the only link that so many ill youth have to creative expressive experiences. It's a terrific, responsive organization truly committed to humanizing the healthcare environment and making a direct impact on bettering quality of life not only for pediatric patients, but for their families and medical staff as well!
The Art of Elysium is a fantastic charity. I volunteer mostly with the Fashion Department and really enjoy making jewelry with the kids. It's always amazing to me how many different and creative ideas these kids have!
A great way to give back to the world and to share artistic expression.
There is nothing more rewarding than working with Children through The Art of Elysium. Art offers children going through medical treatment a much needed break from the often grim realities of their day to day life. AOE let's me be a part of that process and i am so grateful.
I began working with the art of Elysium approximately five years ago. I was asked to play a benefit by the club I was performing a weekly standing show at, for the Art of Elysium. I had no idea who they were or what the they were about but I agreed to play as a favor to the club owner.
As fate would have it I've been working with AoE ever since. The experience has brought a perspective to my life which I am grateful for on a daily basis. the entire staff is a pleasure to work with and their goal of bringing some joy to the lives of the children in the various facilities is genuine and great.
The staff I have worked with know so many of the Children by name and over the years, so have I.
There's a verse in the Bihagivat Ghita which says "step out into the world and give of yourself to help others. Do not give to make yourself feel better about yourself but do it for God can not be there alone."
AoE is a perfect example of this giving
I'm a big advocate of giving back. I try to volunteer with different local nonprofits in my area as much as possible. NONE have impacted me the way Art of E has. Everything about the organization inspires me....to be better person, a better artist, a better loved one to my friends and family....and to be thankful for everything that comes in and out of my life, no matter how long!
I get so excited about planning my art projects and getting to share them with the kids in the hospitals. They're all amazing, talented, sweet children that get so happy and excited about the Art of E being there. It's awesome to see them forget about their pain and problems, even if just for a couple hours, and get so wrapped up in the art! Thank you Art of Elysium for giving me the opportunity to create art w the kids.
A songwriter friend of mine introduced me to The Art of Elysium a few months back, and I've been really enjoying entertaining the kids at hospitals. It's been more rewarding than I can put into words. And the organization has done a nice job of making me feel welcome as a volunteer. Highly recommend this organization!
I have been involved with The Art of Elysium for over 10 years. It is an amazing organization that helps terminally ill children cope with their every day lives through the arts. Artists and/or musicians come into the hospital and brighten their days and bring smiles to their faces and hopefully gives them at least a momentary reprieve from their suffering. My experience in the hospital has been life altering. Giving service is clearly the most selfless gift that you can give. Getting out of your self and forgetting about your own worries and focusing on children that need a brighter day has truly been one of the most uplifting experiences I have had. Being there for the children has been unforgettable.
This is an organization that everyone should know about and be involved with. I have seen first hand the events and how the artists have impacted these children's lives and it is truly inspiring. Last year at "Pieces of Heaven" art auction, I saw the generous donations of so many working artists that gave their work to ensure the hospital programs continue. The fact that the art supports the volunteer experience is truly amazing.
I have worked in hospitals with these guys and their enthusiasm and dedication to positive change is seriously inspiring.
Shriners Hospitals for Children Los Angeles loves The Art of Elysium! This amazing organization provides weekly art experiences to our pediatric patients at no charge to our hospital. The staff and volunteers encourage all of our patients (and parents too!) to participate regardless of language or disability. They provide a fun and creative environment for our patients in different areas of our hospital 3 times a week.
Jack Lemmon said something wonderful in his movie "Tuesdays with Morrie"...we must love one another, or die.
Thanks to The Art of Elysium, we can love one another, that's what life's all about.
The Art of Elysium is truly a blessing. They have a very human, immediate positive effect on people, that will last a lifetime.
The way we "feel" inside creates the world we live in. So if playing my Guitar and singing a few songs to kids in the hospital makes them "feel" a little bit better, even for just a moment, The Art of Elysium and I have done our job as human beings.
Nura Creitz is amazing to work with. Not only does she work around my schedule, she also is incredibly positive, encouraging, and makes you comfortable in an environment that is sometimes challenging.
From the 1st class of what the Org is about, to your first hospital experience and after, the staff is professional, warm, and extremely helpful. I'm honored and proud to be a part of such an incredible organization. Thanks to everyone at The Art of Elysium!
The A of E staff is so sweet and comforting to the folks in the hospital, workers, and even to us, the volunteers. Things can get very emotional and they always handle the situations with grace and professionalism!
The Art of Elysium creates and manages programs that allow artists and sick children to share their creative talents. To simply distract children who are in a hospital environment can be helpful; to encourage them to think and imagine and create and laugh can be something wonderful.
I have been volunteering with art of elysium for over 2 years now and the effect its had on my life has been immeasurable. I am a makeup and fine artist and I volunteer in both capacities. The reactions I witness when the kids see their face in the mirror, or look at the piece of art they just created is amazing and makes me remember why I love art as much as I do. Its powerful and life changing, and these children need that in their lives.
I'm a make-up artist and been volunteering for The Art of Elysium for 6 years. Volunteering for them has changed my life in numerous ways as well as the kids in the hospitals and schools. Every time I go in, I see the positive impact they've had in every kid that has been a part of their workshops, programs, and events. The Art of Elysium brings joy and empowers the children to believe in themselves and believe that dreams do come true and that there are no limitations in life. There is a world out there full of possibilities for each and everyone of us.
Time is a precious commodity. In examining my relationship with time, I realized that I do possess more of this commodity than I need for myself and what I do with it can and will define me.
The time that I have spent with Art of Elysium has proven to be time well spent. A sick child doesn't have to be a sad one. As volunteers, we get to stop time with these children. We get to leave our lives and laugh and inspire each other. We get to play games and create art and be present, something that's hard for even the healthiest people. The program is so seamlessly constructed, offering just enough to the children without violating their space or feelings. It's their choice to get involved and I have yet to meet a child that isn't more than delighted to partake in what the program has to offer. It doesn't take much time to change someone's life forever.
I love the Art of Elysium.
I've been a volunteer for about 6 years now.
I'm very honored to be able to be part of this incredible organization. They bring joy to so many kids!
We had the pleasure to work with the Art of Elysium and directly with Ms. Price in the context of workshops we participated in and organized at our studio, with hospitalized children. I could elaborate on how pleasant and profoundly inspiring working with the children was, but the results speak for themselves. The children were so enthused and joyful throughout the workshops, and so were we. In the end, working with the Art of Elysium has been beneficial to us in many ways, creatively, emotionally, intellectually, and overall an incredible experience we wish to renew.
What a wonderful organisation The Art of Elysium is! Giving love and hope to our young people who are very sick. More power to your elbows. God bless you Art of Elysium.
I have had a WONDERFUL time with the Art of Elysium. I have volunteered at two gallery events as well as two artist workshops. It is always a delightful experience working with their staff and their mission to bring art to children who are ill is a very admirable thing. I support them fully!
I've been a volunteer with Art of Elysium since the fall and it is more rewarding than I could've ever expected. I was very nervous to start since I hadn't spent much time with kids in the past few years. Stacey, the Fine Arts Manager, made me feel comfortable. I look forward to my time painting with the kids and am happy that the At of Elysium exists.
I am sincerely proud of my affiliation with The Art of Elysium. I have learned how to make a contribution through my art by sharing the creative process with others. The Art of Elysium gives me the inspiration to be a better person.
I have been a volunteer for the Art of Elysium for a few years now and have enjoyed every event. When you see the twinkle in the childrens' eyes, it is apparent that the desire to create lies within all of us. To be able to share that experience with the kids at childrens hospitals is like going to a place (for however long) where only art & happiness exists ~ no illness, no worries. I think that is how and why art is very healing. Thank you AOE for allowing us volunteers to be a part of something so speacial! : )
"Wow.." That pretty much says it all. Having an opportunity to work with AoE and the children has given us such a uplifting and inspired outlook. Your staff was ever present with a smile or helpful information and guidance when dealing with the children. I've been blessed to be a part of something so important. Hopefully in 2011 we will have an even larger part to play :)
I commend volunteers and staff of AOE. They are truly angels who bring laughter, smiles and creativity to children who are ill. It is their hard work that continues to bring hope into the lives of kids they service. We all need to see people like those who are involved in this charity. We all have to support the AOE.
truly the most amazing charity in LA. From top to bottom, people who care, who love, and who serve very precious children battling serious medical conditions.
Having the privilege to be involved with The Art of Elysium over the past year and a half has been one of the most rewarding experiences I've had as an artist. Coming from a background as an artist, I have been able to share my talent with hundreds of children in various hospitals around Los Angeles. But, more importantly, these children have given me even more back. Whether it is working with a project as simple as making unique collages with magazines, scissors, and markers, or a Matisse-inspired cut out project, bringing art always puts a smile on the faces of the patients and families I work with. Seeing their appreciation for taking their minds away from being in a hospital for 2 hours or just 5 minutes reinforces how bringing any type of artistic and creative expression can truly improve lives. The staff is always there to guide, support, and inspire my ideas and I'm lucky to be involved with such a great organization!
I have been working with AofE for close to 6 years. The reason I continue to give my time week in and week out is really clear to me. I have seen the "lights" come on in so many children's eye's as a result of them co-creating the different mediums with the different artist. Watching a child's pain elevate as a result of their involvement with Art has forever changed the way I look at Art. I am honored and continually humbled by the chance I get to work another day with a child and with this amazing organization.
Love the whole concept of this program. I've donated to their program on Crowdrise recently because I really liked what they were doing to raise funds for summer art kits. Having returned to school for art, I've come to realize that I was able to articulate complex emotions through pictures and crafts as a child when words failed me. My hope is that these various artistic mediums will help kids use them as a vehicle of self-expression and let the volunteers be their muses.
I have found my purpose in life through Art Of Elysium! I have always been one to search for better ways to be part of our community and share experiences with as many people as possible. What Art Of Elysium offers is the perfect way to be there for those who are sometimes overlooked. The children at our Los Angeles Hospitals are the most stunning people to be around, and what a better way than to simply hang out and play silly games through out the year. Playing dress up and bringing stories to life for these kids is just as rewarding for myself as it seems to be for them. I just can't get enough of em! The staff is awesome and incredibly kind. I just can't praise them and this organization enough. Count me in on whatever endevours they decide to pursue. Thanks!
To have a direct affect on a child in need, to see a smile grow into hysterical laughter from a child in pain, to inspire creativity and imagination from a hospital bed- there is no greater (or easier) contribution to one's society.
Unfortunately hospitals offer little entertainment for their patients, and the numbing boredom can truly take a toll on someone so young and impressionable. As performers and artists we seek for an audience who appreciates our work, our time, and our commitment to a craft. Art of Elysium is the perfect pairing between the artists who yearn to create and inspire and the children who truly need it most.
However it doesn't stop there. Every day I find myself excited and personally inspired by the amazing staff at Art of Elysium. I consider each one as part of my family. The organization can't survive without it's volunteers, and those volunteers wouldn't have access without the incomparable group that leads.
I urge everyone to get in and experience the magic for yourself, for once you enter a child's life, both will forever be changed.
I am a grateful and appreciative volunteer with The Art Of Elysium. For the past 3-1/2 years, every hospital visit and outside event I have been a part of has enriched my life in so many ways. Some Non-Profits are focused purely on the celebrity status and fundraising parties. While these components are important, it defeats the purpose if the children are not truly touched. I chose to volunteer with AOE because we roll up our sleeves together and watch the magic happen. The love, passion, heart & soul that Stacy, the AOE Fine Arts Manager, puts into each daily visit at these different hospitals is truly remarkable. Anyone who has volunteered knows how emotionally challenging it can be at times. I commend her dedication and love for this program and the children involved. They benefit so much. Art is healing. Seeing the faces on these beautiful children (and parents) as they feel free to create and express themselves is such a reward. Every day is a lesson in love, creativity, art history........and life.
The AOE is a phenomenal organization. Through its' professional staff, volunteers and programs it gives children a chance to forget and put aside, for just a moment, the terrible disease that has invaded their lives; and enjoy life and be a kid again. It gives back some happiness and pride, which has been unfairly stripped from their young life.
The professional staff bring a smile back to people who direly need something to smile about. And, that's the most important mission a person (organization) can have. Bravo for what the AOE does!! May it continue for many years
I absolutely love The Art of Elysium! I've been involved since it's very beginning and I can't adequately express in words the change it's made in me and my life as well as the lives of thousands of children and other volunteers. Hope and joy is spread on a daily basis by the AOE army--I am deeply grateful to be a part!
The Art of Elysium is a more than a great non-profit, it is a family of teachers, visionaries, and creatives that truly inspires children and families from all over that are in need of hope and love.
Attending their annual children's exhibition "Little Pieces of Heaven," you can really see the light in the children's faces when they see their artwork on the walls, and they forget that they are sick or in pain. The Art of Elysium brings joy and strength to their families as well, a truly emotional moment. It's not only the feeling of happiness that the children experience, but the artwork is beyond amazing, you can tell that the children are learning a valuable skill and expression through the arts workshops.
All the arts programs and events that The Art of Elysium coordinates is a great gift to the Los Angeles communities and it's been a great pleasure to see their vision come to light!!
The Art of Elysium is an amazing organization that helped me through some of the toughest years of my life. I have been in and out of the hospital frequently for my Cystic Fibrosis and the workshops provided by The Art of Elysium gave me something to take my mind off of what was going on and a creative outlet with which to express myself. I am blessed to be working with them now as an ambassador.
This charity is not only inspiring for art lovers but for lovers of life. It's a true lesson in selflessness and love. It brings everything right back to what life is all about which is giving to others and being inspired constantly by creativity because sometimes that's akk we've got.
The Art of Elysium has truly enriched my life as an Oil Painter and Fine Art Teacher. The sole place I currently share my blind contour technique with students is at Art of Elysium sponsored hospitals. I had a particularly rewarding experience this past week with a young man named Isaac. Isaac let me know that he had not picked up a paintbrush in years as his creative focus has always been music. He was, however, willing to give painting a try. I demonstrated a quick sketch of Isaac, looking directly at him and never stealing a peak at my paper. He laughed at the uncanny resemblance, then gave it a try himself. Making his Grandma nervous with his intent stare, Isaac drew a fun, abstract rendition of his Grandmother. I had Isaac fill in all of his sketch with a variety of wacky colors and patterns. The result was truly whimsical and Isaac even declared himself proud of his unique canvas. We both had a wonderful time. Allowing me to share my joy for art is a precious gift that The Art of Elysium graciously provides.
Volunteering w AOE has been a life changing experience. I'm so happy to have contributed a small portion of my time to such a worthy cause. Being able to bring positive light and influence into the lives of these children facing such challenging medical issues is such a great experience. The struggles the children face is heartbreaking - AOE's mission is crucial.
The Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Los Angeles is forever grateful for the amazing support we have received from the Art of Elysium throughout the years. Our programs, which help individuals suffering from seizures, have ALL been successful thanks in great part to their creativity and willingness to help!
We are honored to be involved with such a wonderful organization and look forward to continuing a great partnership!
I've known of the Art of Elysium for about 10 years now. Things they do everyday both large and small are amazing. So many children are helped in a vast number of ways, which only they can express how much the charity really means. I've been honored to be able to attend several of the events over the years which allowed me to see this charity's work in action. I hope they continue to grow and are able to help many more kids to come.
I have spent several hours, and several days volunteering for the Art of Elysium. In those experiences I have truly been humbled by all that they do and by the integrity in which they do it. It is a gift to help them and support in the giving they share with all the children in their care. No charity works my tirelessly to bring love and art to the world and no charity does it so wonderfully.
I first became aware of The Art of Elysium about 7 years ago. From the very first moment I had the pleasure of meeting the people involved, I was drawn in by their passion and love for what they do. I became a volunteer and was instantly welcomed into the wonderful family that this organization has cultivated.
Over the years I've seen The Art of Elysium grow and the number of children they are able to serve each year rise to over 40,000. All it takes is attending one workshop to see the impact and importance of this group and the positive and lasting effect it has on the children that they have the honor of serving. It is truly an inspiration to not only work with the kids and see the smiles on their faces, but to also see the volunteer artists and what they take away from the experiences as well. It's a beautiful give and take that can forever change the perspectives of everyone involved for the better.
I have been working with The Art of Elysium for several years now and continue to be an active volunteer. I own my own PR agency and have very few free hours, but always feel that the hours that I spend with TAOE are some of the most valuable hours in my day. I work with several charities and foundations on a regular basis and am on the board of a few, but The Art of Elysium will always have a special place in my heart because I can work hands on with the children and give them an opportunity to feel like a child again, not just a patient. Art has always been an important part in my life and The Art of Elysium truly understands the magical power it can have on a person's life. Even if it just for an hour or two.
If you can, imagine every parent's worst fear and having a child with a serious illness or disability. Then imagine seeing that child smile, even it only for a moment. That is to me the essence fo the Art of Elysium. They bring together artist and everyday people willing to give of their time to bring happiness and a sense of accomplishment to children who face great difficulty in life to say the least.
You would also be amazed at the joy and comfort these activities provide for the parents and siblings of these children.
I first came across The Art Of Elysium when researching charity programs to promote via my music and photography blog. I was immediately drawn due to the emphasis placed on the arts as a tool for rehabilitation as well a process of bringing people together.
On a recent visit to The United States I was lucky enough to witness first hand the work the charity carries out with musicians visiting hospitalized children in intensive care. I was was touched by the positive effect this had on the children and awestruck by the commitment of the artists as well as the volunteers.
In my opinion The Art Of Elysium are working towards an incredibly worthy cause whilst harnessing the skills of some truly talented actors, artists and musicians alike.
I have worked with several charities in the Los Angeles area that work with children and Art of Elysium is in a league of their own in every respect. The staff is incredible and so passionate about what they do that they inspire me both in getting more involved with AoE but also to get more involved with art in general. I am so grateful to have the opportunity to help lift the spirits of children in hospitals while teaching them about art...and it's always a blast! I love to see the smiles on their faces when they complete a project and I'm always looking forward to more opportunities to help out.
Working with the Art of Elysium has really helped me to realize how incredible this type of work can be. Whether I'm in the hospital actually interacting with the children or taking part in one of the many incredible fund raising events, I get to feel like I'm truly making a difference in the lives of the children. Having the ability to bring a smile to the face of even one child who otherwise may have just spent a "regular" day in the hospital is a truly inspiring experience that for those moments brings down the hospital walls and transports the child and myself to a place that can truly be described as Elysium.
The inspiration, strength and hope AOE shares daily is priceless. Giving back to our community is something special we all have the ability to do.
When I first met The Art of Elysium, I was working as a Child Life Specialist at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. The Art of Elysium provided a unique opportunity for children to explore their feelings and experiences. It's hard for many children to express themselves in such difficult times...through a painting, a photograph, a song or play...I was able to see children tell their stories in ways they never knew possible.
Being a member of The Art of Elyisum family for 12 years, I have seen the postive impact on both the children and the artists.
I am honored to have worked with The Art of Elysium for nearly three years now... Observing the magic that occurs between volunteer artists and the children that they visit, is something that I wish everyone gets the opportunity to experience. Whether it be giving a child a voice they didn't think they had in a music workshop, a child expressing themselves by painting in a fine arts workshop, or instilling confidence in a group of young girls in a self esteem workshop... you see these children inspired, and affected in a way that only happens through art. The Art of Elysium is an incredible organization and I encourage everyone to learn more and find a way to become involved and support.
Working with AoE is such a blessing it gives me an opportunity to use humor, acting, games, and creative play with those who are in need. I can work with talented performers with a rolling schedule a few days per week. Simple and sweet is how I would describe my experience with AoE. With that, I have become more aware of a how a persons energy in a room can change just by getting out of a routine, even for a few moments.
I have had the amazing pleasure of working with The Art of Elysium for over a year now and my experience with this organzation has forever changed my perception on not only my life but the lives of these hospitalized children. To watch even one of these children smile from the work you have done with them is worth a lifetime. I feel truly honored and blessed to be a part of this organization and couldn't say enough about getting involved.
I have been volunteering for this organization for a year now.
I'm in the fine arts programs and I absolutely love it.
I hope the impact of this organization is recognized by everyone. The Art of Elysium brings humble volunteers and amazing children together with what can only be described as "passion". The passion for the arts and the passion for life itself makes this organization not only remarkable, but vital in these children's precious lives.
The Art of Elysium gives children hope! It brings to them what today's world is missing the most; art and music! The Art of Elysium has always been on of my favorite charities because the amazing work and staff they have involved make it possible to reach a lot of needy children.
I've heard about The Art of Elysium throughout the various social networks and wondered what was so special about this organization. After reading about them and seeing what an amazing artistic outlet they are providing for so many of these children who are battling various serious medical conditions... I have been moved in their support. Even though I cannot personally volunteer while living in Bulgaria, sharing their stories with others and being a supporter of them is an honor. Best wishes to everyone of the dedicated, hard working members and volunteers!
I just started with the Art of elysium as a volunteer last year. I had heard about the program through two people I respect in the acting community. I cant say enough great things Its hands down the best part of my week. Spending time with amazing kids who are so brave. Everyone I encounter through A of E is genuinely passionate about giving kids a couple hours a day to put aside their medical conditions and just be kids. Whether it's to create an improv & make believe, watch an animated storytelling show or create a sock puppet. These kids get to do just that and in return I get to reminded to be a kid too!! I am so blessed to be apart of such a great organization!
I came across The Art of Elysium website a little over three years ago and have been volunteering with them ever since. I love the fact that I can joke and play around while providing joy to hospitalized kids and their families. It's truly been a blessing to me ever since I got involved and brings a smile to my face every time I participate. I've also made some great friends through my affiliation with AOE which was an unexpected bonus.
I'd been looking for years for the right organization to volunteer with but kept striking out until I found The Art of Elysium. As an actor, I often had intervals of free time on my hands and was eager to give my time for a good cause. However, my unpredictable schedule didn't work with many volunteer organizations that require you sign up for regular shifts. Art of Elysium is incredibly flexible and works with the chaotic schedule of an artist. You don't have to go through months of training to get started, and the program directors and leaders are fantastic. The best part is, we get to use our talents to help brighten the day of hospitalized children.
Simply a fantastic organization! I have been volunteering with the Art of Elysium for about seven months, and the program does such a great job of engaging the kids. There really should be more organizations like this!
I just moved to Los Angeles and started with Art of Elysium a month after I got here. I can't say enough good things about it! Interacting with the kids and playing has reminded me of the power of the arts to bring joy and connection to our society and I appreciate it so much. Yes, the main focus is bringing the kids an uplifting experience...I have to say that every time I've participated so far I've left with a smile on my face big enough to carry me through the rest of the day as well! The other volunteers are incredible and friendly and the staff is accessible and capable as well. Bottom line - it's fun and fulfilling!
I have been volunteering in the theater department of AOE for a couple of years now. i love it. The workshops are energetic, engaging and constantly evolving as we learn more about what the kids respond to and what they don't like. The group of volunteers is amazing--full of really dedicated actors, comics, musicians and all around great people. I find being an actor in LA is an incredibly self involved lifestyle and my work with AOE takes me out of myself and into a completely different world. i treasure my time with these amazing children and always look forward to my sessions.
I have been doing jewelry & clay workshops with the children of The Art of Elysium for over 13 years. I began when it was serving only a few children & would meet the founder JH at Children's Hospital. Her dedication has created a brilliant non profit organisation with visionary programming which directly benefits the children while they stay in the hospital, and during recovery form their illness or conditions.
As an artist this program gives to all who participate. It is invaluable in its healing and service it provides to the children and their families.
I heard about The Art Of Elysium through a friend who was volunteering at the time. She was so excited about her work there that I decided to attend an orientation meeting. I was immediately impressed by the organization and enthusiasm shown by all involved. After a full orientation about the organization, mission and activities I began volunteering at events. My most memorable moment was at in event done at a small Burbank airport in which old 2 seater planes were brought in. The kids were one by one taken up in the skies in these one of a kind planes. The looks on their faces, such joy, was incredible. While they waited their turn The Art of Elysium had set up several craft areas for painting and such. I really believe that I had more fun then some of the kids! It is a true gift to be able to provide moments when the children completely forget about their illnesses and can just be kids.
