This is one of the most active NGOs I know -- and I participate in or receive news from a lot of NGOs! There are weekly lectures with a tasty vegan meal, plus other seasonal and annual major events. SFVS also tables at all sorts of environmental and health festivals and outreach, and is a model of effective advocacy.
Great events - especially the World Veggie Fest that the San Francisco Vegetarian Society sponosors the first weekend of October of each year. Speakers were very informative - and fun. Especially liked the cooking demos! The group also hosts many other events - weekly and monthly. I've been attending their events for about a year and its a very nice group of people.
