Mission: Rise up presents and preserves voices and opinions on public affairs often ignored or distorted in the mainstream media. Rise up espouses the notion that public speaking is a high art that deserves a wider audience and greater advocacy. Rise up records, broadcasts, and curates public speeches and interviews with today's best progressive orators to help distribute and preserve critical information for tumultuous times.
Programs: Alternative radio (ar): this weekly one-hour public affairs program established in 1986 by david barsamian, is offered free to all public, community, college, and non-commercial radio stations in the us, canada, and beyond.
ar archive: rise up curates an audio archive of hundreds of speakers covering political, historical, cultural, and scientific topics, which directly supports rise up's mission by providing educators, researchers, publishers, authors and journalists primary and secondary source material in an organized and accessible way.
david barsamian: rise up and ar founding director, david barsamian, speaks at over 40 universities, conferences, peace groups, and benefit gatherings annually. His broadcast and print journalism spans a 40-year career with 20 books and countless articles and interviews for national magazines.
