Mission: Presa community service center is a nonprofit, multi service organization established to meet the social needs of the san antonio community through its major programs. The center provides services in economically depressed areas throughout the city of san antonio and bexar county through the following programs: counseling - addresses the special needs of families and individuals in crisis by a licensed counselor on a sliding fee scale. It offers services that address the prevention of child abuse, substance abuse, family violence and effective parenting that enhances family functioning. Social services - helps individuals and families in crisis by providing emergency food and clothing assistance, baby formula, usda commodities, rent and utility support. Nutrition - provides senior citizens with well-balanced hot meals five days a week and enhances social interaction through field trips and arts & crafts activities. Programs: Parent engagement - the psc partnership is a parent-driven, parent engagement project, operating in 9 schools in the san antonio independent school district. They work with parents of students in the fourth, fifth and sixth grade at the following schools: riverside park academy, herff elementary, page middle school, green elementary,smith elementary,hillcrest elementary, highland hills elementary, young women's leadership academy and rogers middle school. Their goal is to determine what barriers prevent them from being involved with the school, assist them in becoming involved and work with them to get other parents involved.
transportation program provides dispatch and transportation services for medical appointments, dialysis appointments, chemotherapy appointments and grocery shopping for low income senior citizens and persons with disabilities.

other program services - youth programs teach leadership skills, life skills, character development, problem solving skills and dealing with peer pressure. They also provide a safe place for at-risk children to be and provide meals, tutoring and homework assistance. The social services and counseling programs provide counseling services and emergency food assistance to the needy. They also provide substance abuse prevention education. The financial literacy program provides volunteer income tax return services during tax season and smart money courses throughout the year to senior adults and individuals in the community. The financial self sufficiency program provides one on one counseling for individuals seeking employment and resume development. They also offer classes for first time home buyers, budgeting, banking, establishing good credit and work force development. They offer a 10 week small business academy to educate small business owners and potential small business owners in the community. And the community health worker certification program, which is certified by the state of texas, provides training for individuals seeking to become a certified health worker. Presa also provides workshops in both english and spanish.
