I’ve volunteered with Soldiers Angels for almost a decade. The money you spend goes directly to the soldiers you are supporting because you choose how you support other than a validation fee which is nominal . It is truly a chartity that exists because of its volunteers and offers a direct way to care for our deployed armed forces while also providing assistance to veterans. I couldn’t be prouder to be able to serve those who serve with the assistance of this team.
I really love this organization. I have been with them for over 11 years now and cannot imagine my life without being involved. Supporting our Service Members has always been on my mind since being a young person and being exposed to the Viet Nam war on television. I wanted to make a difference in the lives of our military. I have a notebook full of photos and letters and cards from many of them. Last year I had the wonderful opportunity of adopting a young girl that served as part of a medic team. I was able to make the holidays a lot better for her team, through her adoption. I am still in contact with her now, even after her deployment ended. She is now out of the military after 12 years of service and is in nursing school. She plans to re-join once she is finished with school, proudly as a nurse. I couldn't be more proud if she was my own daughter! This organization has some of the very best administration that I have ever worked with. You can be involved as little or as much as you would like. There is a letter writing team that the team requirement is one letter per month. That's it! After all, it is words of support, from the country these young men and women are fighting for, that means so much! There are 11 different teams of various support you can be involved with. One volunteer said she tells people that we are involved from birth to passing. And it's true. There is a team that has virtual baby showers for expecting spouses of deployed military. We have our veteran support programs to help those who gave so much in past service. I am now a Group Leader for the Deployed Adoption Team because of my love for this organization. It truly is a lot of fun and you will get much more satisfaction from your involvement than you could ever realize. Please check us out!
For me, it began in 2008 as a volunteer Angel for the Deployed Adoption Team. With this organization I found my passion in life. I know in my heart, whether I hear back from my Service Member, that we as a group are making the lives of our military better. To be able to provide words of support, to someone who has signed on the dotted line not knowing what that will bring, is my heart's desire. Yes, we send care packages with comforts of home but it is in our words that we touch the souls of our military. As a group leader for Soldiers' Angels I try to make my group understand it is not in the dollars you spend as much as it is in the meaning of the words you write. Some of these service members are straight out of high school, mere kids themselves. And for the few minutes they can break away from where they are, when they open a care package, they can be kids again. I write a lot to my adopted service members. Why...because can you think of anything sadder than a service member waiting at mail call and their name is not called. Some are cards, some are letters, but all are to just say, hey I care about you and am just checking in to let you know I care. This organization is the best available. Everyone has the same goal. Everyone works together to achieve that goal. There are so many different teams to join. Your involvement can be as little or as much as you have time for. Letter writing team has a requirement of only one letter per month from the volunteers, although I am happy to say than many Angels write many more. Like to bake? Like to sew? Interested in supporting expectant spouses of deployed military with virtual baby showers? Please check us out. There is something here for everyone.
I am a volunteer here who has loved being able to connect with service members who are deployed through handwritten letters and gift packages. I also love being able to interact with Veterans through the Soldiers' Angels organization at the VA hospital in my hometown. I have gotten so many responses from soldiers who appreciate all we do. I get so much joy from being able to write as many letters as I want a week. I love being able to remind a deployed solider that they are always in our thoughts and that all they do never goes unnoticed back in the states. Soldiers' Angels is so user friendly for any type of person who wants to dedicate whatever amount of time or effort to their cause. I have also met so many other likeminded volunteers who express the same joy for what I do. The community is so friendly, and I am so happy that I've been a part of such a wonderful effort that the Soldier Angels program dedicates itself to.
What a wonderful organization this one is.I am so proud to be in Soldiers Angels. We put our Service Members above all for what they do for us .I know we take care of our
This organization does so much for our deployed and their families, and our veterans and caregivers. I’ve volunteered with them for 10 years, sending care packages and letters to service members. It’s a very well run program making a world of difference for those that serve our country. Proud to be helping them thank our service members!
If you want to support the troops this organization has many ways to do it: from 'adopting' a deployed soldier and sending care packages and letters; to writing cards and letters as a one time activity; to baking; crafting; and sewing. You pick what you can do and you decide how much to do. There are many different sub-groups in which to participate. I have volunteered for over 15 years and love it.
I've been involved for a few months now as part of the baking team. Its a great organization with so many volunteers reaching out to our service members by writing letters, baking, sewing, etc. In my experience all the people involved are great - all questions are answered and people involved love helping others. If you have time to give I definitely recommend.
This organization goes above and beyond and provides amazing support to our veterans and deployed service members
Theses folks who needs some help all the time. Our aging vets. Once a month they line up regardless of the weather and pass out food I can use the rest of the month to fill in the “gaps”. It is a charity that helps individuals have food items we probably would not have on the table everyday. Tears well up each time I drive away with bags of food. They are special and I can’t thank them enough.
As an active duty service member who served in Afghanistan, I was blessed with an Angel, Teresa who wrote me letters every week for 6 months. Now that I am a combat veteran I give back by sending a box monthly to a female soldier through the LOL- Ladies of Liberty group. I am also a part of a SOF team who sends boxes monthly along with letters of encouragement. I love being able to send a little something from home to these men and women. Soldier's Angels is an amazing organization that helps everyone anyway that they can, from veterans to active duty.
I was supported by Soldier's Angels while I was deployed to Afghanistan in OEF 10-11. Now I give back by supporting LOL (Ladies of Liberty) and SOF groups. As a female Veteran, wife and mother, I can't think of a better organization to help teach my children the benefits of giving back to others. My daughter is days away from graduating Marine Boot camp and I will definitely sign her up for support from this amazing group if and when she deploys.
This fall my husband was deployed, he spent a lot on things he needed prior to leaving, and his unit shared information on Soldiers’ Angels. I received a phone call before Christmas, and a few weeks later a box with gifts for my girls, a gift card for Christmas dinner and holiday card. I don’t know which of the 3 were happier when they opened their gifts and saw some
Of the things they asked for. Such a blessing!
I am so proud of Soldier's Angels and being able to volunteer with them. How many charities can count 100k+ volunteers, serve thousands and thousands of military men, women and veterans with only 16 paid staff members? Wow, that is dedication from everyone!! THANKYOU ALL SO MUCH!! Our military families and veterans are so very grateful for the love and care everyone at Soldier's Angels gives them; I've seen it myself...Jennifer putting her arm around a retired vet and sharing a moment.
It’s an honor to serve alongside such amazing people that truly care about our veterans and their families. I am humbled and grateful to be a part of the Soldiers’ Angels Family. #May No Soldier Go Unloved #May no soldier walk alone #May no soldier be forgotten #Until they all come home
I love this organization for the opportunities they empower me and others with to bless our service members. The support of administrators and team leaders has helped me in getting started with adopting troops over the past months. And their online presence makes getting assignments and reporting service painless!
The way the information is given out are not fair to some veterans. I received the email and applied immediately, not even up to two minutes. I immediately received automated message that it was filled up. I can't even get on the waiting list and this happened to me four months in a row. Therefore I truly believed that there is some inside favoritism going on with this program. I can give my name if I am allowed to and I am not the only one that has been experiencing this. I am a disabled veteran, I know it is a free program, however, you have to do it right or I will take it to further investigations. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks.
Thank you so much for your feedback. The Soldiers’ Angels Veteran Mobile Food Distributions are first-come/first-served. Unfortunately, our events can only provide support to 200 veterans per month. For your particular market, we have an email & text message distribution list of well over 1,000 veterans. When we release the registration link to those lists, the event fills up incredibly fast due to the large amount of individuals in need of support. The event in your market fills in approximately 10 minutes on average. If you don’t sign up to register within the first few minutes, you will not make it before the link shuts down. Based on our records of your email address, for the last four months it has actually been several hours between the time the email was released and you clicked on the registration link. Therefore, the event had been filled for several hours already by the time you attempted to register. We are working to grow our program, but it will likely always fill quickly.
I have been an Angel with Soldiers' Angels for three years. The organization is professional and compassionate and completely fabulous. I first started on the Letter Writing Team. Now I am on four teams including Special Forces, Baby Brigade and Adopt-A-Family (during the holiday season). I love being able to support our troops and veterans and being able to make it personal (i.e. I am writing a letter to a specific person or I am adopting a specific family). Something I didn't expect and enjoy immensely is the comraderie with other Angels primarily through closed Facebook groups (one for each team). We are a wonderful network. If any Angel has a question or situation or wants to share something (good or bad), all of us are there to support, suggest and celebrate. I am very proud to be an Angel with Soldiers' Angels. I wouldn't have it any other way!
I love being a part of Soldiers’ Angels. I am on the Letter Writing Team and write about ten letters per month. Our LWT team has a closed Facebook page where we can ask questions and give/receive tips. Everyone is very kind and supportive.
I got started with Soldiers Angels in the fall of 2017; I have absolutely adored being part of the Soldiers Angels team and helping to support the military! There are so many ways to serve by joining various teams or participating in any of the many events held throughout the year. The support that we receive from our team leaders via email, calls, or social media is very timely and greatly appreciated. Amy chance I get I’m telling others about Soldiers Angels and how it’s made a huge impact on me not only those we serve.
I got involved with Soldiers' Angels last fall while searching for my company's annual service project, I jumped in head first and have never looked back! I have referred many friends and family to the organization based off the overwhelming sense of service that I get every time I send out packages to those deployed. When I hear back from them it's usually them telling me how much I've made their day, little do they know, they've made MINE! I have never felt so passionate about being part of something so huge and am blessed to have the opportunity to work with Soldiers' Angels!
Fantastic Organization that help Soldiers & families. Always helping others and encouraging everyone. Been part of the organization for over a year and so THANKFUL and PROUD to be!
