Programs: Supporting the comfort, safety and care of our residents. Pines of sarasota foundation generates funds to support endowment, capital and programmatic needs. Pines of sarasota and senior care community serves over 3,500 seniors annually. With a 68 year history of pioneering new and innovative approaches to healthcare for seniors, our residents have the comfort of knowing that they will always be secure and well cared for. To that end, a major thrust has been to improve the infrastructure of our campus thereby enhancing the care, comfort and safety of our residents. That translates to replacing outdated essential equipment, like air conditioners in our memory care center and refrigerators in our central kitchen. Pines serves over 1000 meals daily! New, more efficient trash compactors, repair and replacement of walkways and design of a new chiller plant are further examples of some of the capital purchases needed to serve our residents. Caring for the largest number of residents who have outlived their financial resources, while at the same time attracting private pay clients, enables pines to continue to offer its unique and essential mission. To that end, an additional focus has been to improve the appearance of our campus and increase the marketing of our services. Our campus has been markedly enhanced as noted by residents, families and those benefitting from short term and outpatient services. In addition, we have undergone a total brand refresh and display new signage throughout the campus.
campus expansion: supporting the purchase and development of adjacent land. Pines remain the largest provider of long term care for low income people in our region. Sarasota county remains the oldest county by the age of our population, compared with other counties with a population greater than 250,000. To meet this ever-growing need, pines has expanded from 17 to 25 acres with the purchase of the adjoining land; donations have enabled us to underwrite the principal on the mortgage payment this year.
3. Resident needs & education and training:the balance of our fundraising efforts focused both on supporting caregiver dementia training offered to both families and professionals, as well as, resident needs. Indeed, the education and training needs have been so great that our footprint of service area is now international. The creation of 16 dvd's, video streaming, in house training and even underwriting the cost to provide caregiving while the actual caregivers are being trained, are all supported by donations. Fundraising incorporating resident needs have enabled us to underwrite unfunded medical expenses, a variety of resident activities and the purchase additional vital sign monitors. We are deeply appreciative of the ever growing number of donors who facilitate the quality of life of so many individuals and their families.
