His library installation was a non-linear, non-chronological installation that embodies gordon's work over 50+ years featuring four collage-covered walls created by gordon that showcased images from his work and life, as well as video projections from his performances, which are now part of the librarys moving image archive. In addition to over 5500 public visitors to the library at lincoln center exhibition for 4 months david gordon: archiveography - under construction there were numerous school class tours hosted by the librarys education department with feedback from the education staff at the enthusiastic response from students all ages to the interactive room that representing an the artists direct voice and increased the number of school tours. The work draws from the method of artistic investigation that has informed gordons previous works, which involves, in his words: sourcing real lives for live theater, focusing new attention on those who drift or are forced to the historic margin.
