Pet Assistance was more than happy to help with a much needed procedure for my little cat. When times are tough, it is so powerful to know that there are organizations who can empathize and be willing to help out. Thank you to pet assistance for being there when we really needed you.
Pet Assistance saved the day for us! Pet Assistance approved us for a grant for my dog's much-needed surgery but a couple of other organizations also pledged financial support so we didn't think we'd need Pet Assistance. However, one of the other organizations was totally non-responsive the day of my dog's surgery and I was frantic as to how I was going to pay the bill. I reached out to Pet Assistance and they jumped in to help. Thank you so much Pet Assistance for your support!
I'm very grateful for the support Pet Assistance has given me and my pet Perla. Her medical bills would have been a financial hardship on me. The funding and referral to a cheaper hospital has helped us a great deal. Perla is doing well recovering from her lifesaving surgery, all thanks to Pet Assistance!
I can’t say enough wonderful things about Pet Assistance. We reached out for help with a serious health crisis for our Daisy. They were reached out immediately and offered support. I applied to other organizations but only Pet Assistance got back to us. Thank you so much Pet Assistance!
Pet Assistance INC was amazing and prompt with helping for Sissy's Pyometra surgery. We were gonna lose our baby but they helped save her life and we are forever grateful! Sissy is back to her old self and we are happy
My cat had a urinary blockage and pet assistance was able to help me pay! I am so grateful for their help!
I am forever greatful for this organization. My chihuahua Teko was diagnosed with an inguinal hernia, and needed surgery to repair the abdominal opening. This surgery saved his life because if any of the contents of the abdominal cavity became trapped while passing through, it could have killed him. This foundation donated the remaining amount needed for his surgery. At my chihuahuas post-op appointment the vet let us know he healed perfectly and everything looks great. He's doing amazing, he's still so loving, energetic and playful as before. Thank you Pet Assistance for your generous help!!
I am incredibly grateful for the support I received from Pet Assistance during a recent emergency with our beloved cat. When we found ourselves in a dire situation, their assistance made all the difference. The kindness and compassion shown by their team was truly heartwarming.
They offered recommendations for a surgery center close to us we had not heard of before with genuine care throughout the entire process. Our cat is now on the road to recovery, and we couldn't have done it without their help.
Thank you!!
I can't tell you how grateful I am to this organization. My little chihuahua Babybel needed care that I was unable to afford. I had called about 30 different hospitals and clinics (literally) and there was no one in the area that could help me for a price I could afford. I reached out to Pet Assistance Inc. on a desperate whim, and they were able to direct me to a clinic that had a sister store about an hour away where I could afford to take my sweet baby. From there she had her surgery and they took care of her every need. If it wasn't for them my dog would have surely passed away from not eating and drinking for about 3 or 4 days. Thank you!!
On a Friday night, in the process of our family moving to another home, our dog Pogo
slipped out the door. We were so happy to have found him Saturday morning, but saw he was
not himself and took him to the vet immediately. The doctor told us he had a dislocated hip and
would need FHO surgery. We could not afford the price we were quoted.
We've had Pogo since 2012 when we took him in as a foster and adopted him. He is a
member of our family and we wanted to get him healed as soon as possible.
Thanks to help from Pet Assistance, he got the surgery he needed.
Our sweet 8-year-old Shepherd got pyometra. She was listless and stopped eating. I couldn't afford the thousands of dollars the emergency hospital wanted to operate on her and Pet Assistance found us a low-cost hospital. I wanted to reach out and say THANK YOU again for helping rescue our girl and get the surgery to save her life! I would love to give it back with my own donation to an animal in need. You will never know how appreciative we are to wake up and see our girl’s tail wagging with not an ounce of pain !!
I really cannot thank Pet Assistance Inc. enough for their kind and expedient assistance with my cat, Patches, healthcare needs. My kitty stayed to my household while I was in graduate school! Not a great time to take on added monthly expenses but I could not say no to the beautiful kitty or my then 5 yr old grandson :). Patches came to us with Feline Aids and eventually developed stomatitis. I delayed vet care due to an extremely single grandmother parenting and graduate school budget! Eventually Patches was miserable and so was I and the only path to health for Patches was a $785 vet bill. Pet Assistance stepped forward and made it possible!!! Patches is now happy and healthy and so is our household. Thank. you to everyone who made this possible! I graduated recently and once I'm fully licensed I will happily pay it forward.....................best wishes to all the kind and generous hearts in this world Kara Harrison
My cat Dusty has Cerebellar Hypoplasia. His condition makes him very delayed in many areas & at slightly over 5 years old, was just coming into heat. Anesthesia is always a risk, but even moreso for a cat with this disorder, so no vet where I previously lived would agree to neuter him. We had moved to a new state about a year ago & recently found an amazing veterinary office. They did his neuter with no issues. Totally unrelated, he ended up with a UTI with a blockage a week later. I was given antibiotics, but after a week he became very lethargic & painful. I rushed him in on 2/5 & he would end up needing a surgery (urethrostomy) to save his life.
I was confident in the vet even though there were risks. He had the surgery, but there were complications. I thought I was going to lose him. On top of that emotional stress was the financial part. I didn't have the funds available for the neuter let alone a surgery & long hospital stay. I was advised to look up & apply for assistance & one of the organizations that was recommended to me was Pet Assistance Inc. I applied & Ruth was very helpful. Dusty ended up staying in the hospital for 17 days. It was a difficult time, but getting approved for a grant from Pet Assistance Inc alleviated some of that pressure. I was able to focus my attention on getting my boy well. He's been home a little over a week now & he's getting stronger by the day.
My heartfelt gratitude goes to Ruth & the folks that made a tough time a little easier. Thank you!
A great Big Thank you for Pet Assistance, Inc. For providing financial aid for my Fonzi, she is an 8 year old pitbull who I've had since a puppy. Late in January she was diagnosed with a pyometra and needed emergency surgery. While most hospitals here were quoting me way too much and wanted money up front, I could not get approved for their financing so I searched for aid and found Pet Assistance, Inc.
I would recommend them from here on out if I have anyone that needs assistance, Ruth was a great help, helping me find hospitals to call that are low budget and then helping me in her bill, without their help Fonzi wouldn't be here today. I appreciate this non-profit and happy that I came across them!
My precious little 14 Yr old Shih Tzu Teddy has moderate to severe arthritis which caused his back leg to dislocate. He was in pain and I needed to get him to a surgeon fast. My veterinarian could not perform the surgery, so she recommended that I go to a very expensive Orthopedic Veterinarian. I was referred to Ruth at Pet Assistance and she not only helped me out financially, but she took the time to research Veterinarian's in my area and referred me to an affordable and excellent surgeon. Ruth is a wonderful, compassionate person with a wealth of knowledge regarding a multitude of pet health issues. My Teddy is doing excellent and living his best life thanks to the wonderful people at Pet Assistance!!!
My children and I are so grateful to Pet Assistance for seeing that our sweet Berta got the lifesaving surgery she needed. We never could have afforded it on our own.
Your support relieved us of a huge financial burden and helped save Berta's life. It also reminded us that compassion does exist. Thank you for helping our family in our time of need.
To everyone at Pet Assistance, Inc.
I want to sincerely thank you for pledging towards Tucker's treatment.
When I learned how much Tucker's treatment was going to cost, I was overcome with a deep sense of dread because I knew covering the cost was beyond my reach. Knowing that Tucker was in pain and that the persistent bacterial infection wasn't clearing up made it much more stressful.
I reached out to over 20 organizations for help, and when I received the message that y'all were able to pledge towards Tucker's treatment, it nearly brought me to tears.
Y'all kept in contact with me every step of the way, and because of your kindness and generosity, Tucker was able to get treated. He is doing much better now, and we couldn't have done this without you. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart! I will never forget y'all.

Look at Orangie. Just knocked out. I was sitting at the edge of the couch in front of the black bag. I get up and see him like that. Doesn’t he look so comfortable compared to what he looked like before when he was sick and about to die? But thanks to organizations like Pet Assistance, Inc. They made it possible for Orangie to be asleep comfortably next to me, right NOW. Pet Assistance gave me light when I could no longer see in my darkness. I will forever be grateful to you.
I cannot say enough great things about this organization. I have an 8-year-old Weimaraner, and he was suffering from an enlarged prostate, going downhill very quickly due to a UTI that developed from the issue with the prostate. He needed to be neutered right away to eliminate the issue of the prostate and clear up the UTI. I called everywhere to find some kind of assistance. Either I didn't hear anything back, or I couldn't get the help due to Majestic being considered "a senior" dog.
We were on the verge of being forced to surrender him because we could not afford the surgery he needed, and he was in bad shape. It just so happened that my vet gave me the information for Pet Assistance, Inc, and within an hour, I received an email that they would help me cover the amount I was short to get help for Majestic. I thank God that we were able to get our pup the help he needed, and that we were not forced to surrender him to get him help. God came through, and so did Pet Assistance. I couldn't say thank you enough. They were super easy to work with, and I couldn't be happier that my furbaby got the surgery and is now recovering :)
Pet Assistance Inc. and Ms. Ruth are our Guardian Angels. They went above and beyond for me and my Lil guy Floyd and I will be forever grateful to them. This is our story...
I have a 5 year old Miniature Pinscher named Floyd. I took him outside to potty last week and noticed it was taking him an extra long time to pee, and he was straining really hard. I watched him closely all day and as the day went on I could tell he was beginning to not feel well. And by that night he was not good. My happy, spunky, hyper, Lil ball of energy didn't even raise his head when I walked into the room, when normally he would be bouncing and jumping non stop until I picked him up.
This is New Years Eve Weekend and we are headed an hour away to an emergency vet hospital. My heart was breaking I couldn't stand seeing my baby so sick. I thought once we got to the vet I could relax a bit, they would make him better.... After taking him back and examining him they came and told me that he had a stone blockage in his urethra and that they had tried several times to cath him and couldn't flush the stone out. They couldn't push it back through. It wouldn't move at all. By the end of things they tell me that my boy needs surgery immediately. He's at risk of his bladder rupturing and it's a surgery they aren't qualified to do. They called around and found a place that would do it....3 hours away. With a $6,000 quote. Without the surgery he would need to be put down. I think I might have had a mini breakdown. They brought him to me limp and sedated. They knew I couldn't afford a $6,000 surgery so they were advising me to put him down right then bc if his bladder ruptured it would be much worse. After i picked my crying self up off the floor next to him and many phone calls reaching out for help and being denied by all credit sources. I wrapped my boy up and decided I was getting a second opinion. I knew I didn't have much time, and it was a holiday. But I brought him home and got busy on the phone. I found another clinic an hour in the other direction and we headed there. After hearing what the first vet said, they pretty much gave me the same advice. If they can't remove the stone. He will need surgery. This vet was a Lil older and more experienced . They took him away and I sat there trying to come to terms with the fact that I was probably going to lose my baby. After just a couple min the tech came out and said Doc was able to get him some relief!! I went back to see him and there he was , jumping bouncing excited to see me. She was able to push the stone back into the bladder. And basically just buy some time for me to come up with a plan and some money. Bc he definitely was going to need surgery to remove it. That night he blocked back up. Again couldn't pee. So the next day we went back. She cathed him again and stressed the urgency of the surgery. That night, same thing. Blocked. So again we went back to get flushed. This time a few stones came out. I was so relieved. Thinking there was a possibility he could beat this on his own. Two hours later he was blocked and getting really sick. By this time I'm searching and reaching out to every single person and organization I could come across. Basically begging for help. I had made an appointment the next day at the vet in my town. I couldn't keep driving an hour away to flush his bladder and I was broke. The emergency clinics....on a holiday is no cheap visit. Much less several times. We had the appt the next morning but no way to pay for it. I reached out to Pet Assistance Inc thru email like I did every organization I could find on the web. And Ms. Ruth responded. She not only paid for the visit the next day but stayed in close touch with me to see how we were doing. At the appointment I got horrible news. They couldn't move the stone... and he's very sick. I spent the afternoon in tears coming to terms with the fact that I can't continue doing this to him. I'm going to have to put him down. I'm not sure why I called Ms Ruth to tell her the decision I had made but when I did she talked to me and treated me as if I was an old friend.. I was crying my eyes out. And with kind words she put me at ease. As much as was possible. I got there to tell the vet my decision and after calling around with the vet and getting $4000 to $6000 quotes for this surgery a miracle happened! The Dr walked back in and said that the other Vet who worked there was willing to do the surgery the next morning! For $1500 down and I could make payments for the rest!! In my thoughts $1500 might as well be $6000. But I had to try. My first call was to Ms. Ruth... and thank God it was. She was on it! She again donated several hundred dollars and reached out to another organization and got them to donate $500!!! I was able to come up with the rest and Floyd was there at 8 am the next morning for a life saving surgery. Ms Ruth and I spoke several times that day. She called every little bit to see if he was out of surgery and how it went. And has checked on him every day since. We are 4 days post op and my baby boy is finally starting to seem like himself again. He's peeing and eating and a lot of laying around. But he's here!!! And he wouldn't be without the love and care of this very special place! I would have lost my boy without them. They are Angels!!
Beginning of September one of my stray cats was injured. I reach out to Pet Assistance for help with in minutes they reach back to me and offer to help! I took him to a hospital where he received antibiotics and fleas treatments. Hunter was able to heal and i was able to find him a loving home
Thor needed cataract surgery in both of his eyes. Pet Assistance Inc. was sooooo helpful. Without them, we would not be able to get Thor’s Surgery.
He is 3 days Post-Op. The future is bright!
Astarte had a small tumor growing from her inner eyelid. I had been so scared when I first saw it. I didn't have the resources to take her to a vet right away, so I had no idea about the severity of her condition. Pet Assistance quickly came to my aid and supported me in getting "Star" the treatment she needed. My vet helped lower the costs as much as possible and I couldn't have been more relieved to have my companion healthy. Pet Assistance had been easy to work with and provided strong support for Star, thank you so much.
My emotional support dog, Max, became very sick this past weekend. I sent in an application for assistance and was answered almost right away with a pledge for assistance! I can’t express in words the gratitude I have for the assistance I was given to help my sweet Max. I couldn’t have gotten him treated without it! It was a God send and Ms. Ruth, the lady who took care of me from Pet Assistance was so wonderful as well. Thank you so so so much again and God bless you for helping my Max!!!!

My dog Pearl who is 9 1/2 years old was suffering from Pyometra. I was in a panic to save her, and received help through Pet assistance inc. I was short on cash to save her. I was contacted by Ruth who basically helped save my dog's life. Now she is home and happy.
Pet Assistance, Inc. was the first organization that helped us in the journey to getting Rosco's life saving breathing surgery. They were wonderful to work with and made the application process seamless!
Rosco was diagnosed with bilateral laryngeal paralysis. He had his first surgery on 9/8/2022 which failed a few months later to no fault of anyone, therefore he was in need of a second surgery. With both surgeries costing in the thousands, our family was maxed from the first surgery. That is when I went searching for help. I was astounded by how many different places there were to get help with your animals, I didn't know that was an option and now very thankful that these programs exists. Rosco is now a happy and healthy dog with many more years to come.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
The Peterson Family
My family and I appreciate pet assistance so much! Our dog snow was in need of desperate emergency surgery for a life-threatening infection called pyometra. They were such a great help with assisting me to get the help I needed!
Hello! Our family wants to thank Pet Assistance Ink for helping us get a much needed surgery for Dodger! He had a fast growing growth on his groin area that was causing him a lot of pain. Unfortunately, we were having to wait due to our finances. Every day that went by it was growing bigger. We are so thankful that the last $250 we needed was donated by Pet Assistance. We were able to have the whole thing removed and our boy is back to his best self! As you can see our very handsome "grand" dog is an integral member of our family. We are all so thankful and appreciative, special thanks to Ruth for being so kind and helpful!!
Well where do i start i applied at almost everyone on the list I found on Google maybe 15 places. Only one responded. But that was a blessing for me and Otis. They were so great and so prompt. I don’t know what would have happened without them. See Otis has had a supposed tumor on his right thumb. 6 yrs plus and many vets and bills and so much pain. Finally found a vet to do the removal. But the cost was too much for me at the time. So I reached out for help. And found the angels at pet assistance Inc They saved my best freind and me. They made it easy and they were so informative. I’m truly blessed to have found them. They are our angels from heaven. GOD BLESS YOU ALL PET ASSISTANCE INC.
Pet assistance inc. helped out so much when my lucky got loose and chased a deer into the road! The nice lady (Ruth) was very kind and caring and she helped me with getting my boy home. 10/10 will definitely be spreading the word to help get donors to help with donations. You guys are amazing thank you!
I had a 11 year old dog named Boo with a tumor on her hip. my current vets said to large to remove. I had already applied to Pet Assistance for help with her surgery and been approved for $150, I was very grateful to them as i am on SSI and limited funds. When vets said thought cancer and don't think can close it after remove the tumor, I contacted Pet Assistance to let them know surgery was off and can release the fund willing to provide. Ruth called me almost as soon as I sent the email, She asked several question about what my vets had said, she didn't like the answer and said want you to get a second opinion and i will pay for it with the money I had already said I would give you. Your pet should be number one and if it was mine I would want another opinion. She had a place in her records Puyallup Valley Vet clinic about 2 hours away from my home, I got in fast and they were extremely nice caring and compassionate. I ended up putting Boo down. The care and concern for the animal was amazing from Pet Assistance Inc. Ruth puts her heart and soul into the care of animals above and beyond just love for animals. Please donate to the pet Assistance.org, fantastic organization with lots of compassion for animals
thank you Ruth, Lorna

Several months ago I wrote to Pet Assistance saying my dog is dying and she needs surgery I can’t afford. Princess needed exploratory surgery. She had swallowed a corn cob and we had no idea where she had gotten it.

My kitten Oliver was injured he had a broken leg I rushed him to the ER and I became Overwhelmed when the Veterinarian told me his surgery will cost $5000 and the last thing I wanted to do was Amputate his leg. I called Around to various animal hospitals to see if I can find any help with this issue with no luck.I Turn to the Internet searching for charities that will help me and Oliver with veterinarian bills there I came across Pet Assistance Inc. A nonprofit organization that actually cared enough about me and Oliver to help us .Miss Ruth the nicest lady I’ve ever talk to help me search for other alternatives to save Oliver’s leg She even helped cover some of Oliver’s surgery cost. I had taken in a dog our local dog pound picked up. Shortly after I found out he required a perianal hernia removal surgery and a mass with cancerous cells removed. I reached out to pet assistance for help. After jumping through their hoops I received a very rude and condescending email.
Facts she missed:
-Perianal hernia isn't a surgery most vets (or at least the ones in my area) can do.
-I in fact called over a dozen vets within 2 hours of me and NONE of them would do the surgery. They all referred me to MedVet Cincinnati and OSU in Columbus.
"We are so sorry to hear about ********. Unfortunately, as our website clearly states, we only financially help with small/medium privately-owned hospitals, not emergency, specialty, VCA, or other large corporate-owned facilities. The latter are grossly overpriced and we need to feel our contribution is making a significant difference to the owner and the pet. In these circumstances, our advice alone often saves pet owners thousands of dollars.
The price on the estimate you submitted is much higher than what we feel it should be for that procedure, and Pet Assistance can not help with overpriced procedures. If you send us a copy of a detailed invoice, we will look and see if there are line items that can be eliminated or reduced..
I suggest you check with other hospitals in your area.I believe that most veterinarians perform this surgery, and that it does not need a specialist..
Please go to yelp.com. Search for "low-cost animal hospitals" near your zip code 45142 (or "veterinarians" near your zip code 45142). Make note of those with at least 3.8 stars or more and several reviews. Call and see if the hospital does perianal hernia surgery. If you send us some names, we may be able to check them out further for you.
Sincerely, Darlene
Pet Assistance, Inc.......where every pet matters! "
Pet Assistance Inc literally saved my dog’s life. When my 8 year old pitbull was diagnosed with pyometra, her health started to decline fast and she required emergency surgery. The ER vet quoted us $6000 which was far out of my reach and I was battling with the fact that I might have to euthanize my poor dog simply because I was a single mom that couldn’t afford an unexpected expensive surgery. I googled assistance with vet bills and thank God I found Pet Assistance Inc. Ruth is an angel and went above and beyond to help me find a vet with more affordable surgery costs as well as helped refer me to other organizations that could assist with the surgery cost. Luckily a local vet would do the surgery for much cheaper and I was able to save my sweet dog Nala. She has made a full recovery and my kids are so happy to see her healthy and playful again. None of this would have been possible without Ruth from Pet Assistance Inc. And I am forever grateful.
My dog got into something he shouldn't have and I had to rush him into emergency care. I applied to many other places none of them were able or fast enough to help me, except for pet assistance Inc. They gave a genuine interest in how he was doing and even helped me when they don't really help with bigger hospitals.
Our kitty Mr Sneakers came to us at the end of May this year after our beloved cat Sandy was killed by a car. Mr Sneakers is about 2 years old and came to the Salem, Ma animal shelter from the Jacksonville Fla area. The Salem shelter didn't tell us that he may have been feral or abused and was VERY timid so when we got him home he immediatly went into hiding. He would sneak out at night to eat and use the litter box but we would never see him thus the name. after 3 weeks of this we didn't know what to do, we didn't want to give up on him, we ended up adopting an 8 week old very outgoing Kitten at the end of June and within 10 minutes of getting him home Mr Sneakers was out interacting with the kitten and although still shy was overcoming that a little every day. On August 15 somehow Mr Sneakers managed to fall off our 3rd floor porch resulting in a compound fracture of his rear leg. We took him to the ER and after 7 hours there they told us it would be around $6000 to wire and pin the leg or about $5000 to amputate. This was well beyond our means and after explaining that we both are on disability they gave us a referal to the MSPCA For amputation the next day and a $ 1600 bill for the xrays, meds and stabilizing the leg. sas soon as we got him home he tore the bandage and splint off so back to the hospital 30 miles away, they wanted another $ 3-400 to rebandage, I said forget it. the next am MSPCA called and said they may not be able to see him for 2 or 3 days . I got on the computer to try to find a vet that would help within our means, I even called Dr Jeffs office in Colorado to see if they could recommend anyone. I reached out to Pet Assistance inc for any suggestions and continued my search, The place we adopted the kitten from (Merrimac River Feline Rescue) website had a list of low cost vet services that I started to investigate calling Tufts Veterinary school in N Grafton, Ma, they said send his records and they would see what they could do. within the hour they called back and said bring him in and they may be able to save the leg or amputate for between $200-$400 so I hopped in my car and left on the 90 minute ride , In the mean time Ruth from Pet Assistance called my girlfriend who was still home and was very concerned that we were going to have to amputate because we couldn't afford any thing else. She had no way of knowing that the leg wasn't stabilized and needed immediate attention. The people at the Lerner center at Tufts were very nice and thought they might be able to save the leg but the damage was too severe and had to be amputated. After a day he was hobling around the house out of pain and now is back to almost normal. I did get in touch with Ruth to let her know the outcome, she is a very caring person trying to help people she may never meet and she could use any financial help we can offer to her organization
I can't tell you how much I appreciate the help I received from Pet Assistance for my dachshund Venus. She needed a dental and was in so much pain that I had to feed her baby food. The vet said she had some infected teeth and they ended up pulling 11 teeth. Venus is 17 years old and she came from a puppy mill and I was her foster mom but I'm a foster failure. I have been Venus' mom for 10 years. She had a really hard time the day after the surgery with pain and it was a good week that I had to give her pain medicine. She is doing so much better and can finally eat dog food and of course treats. Thanks so much for helping my furbaby.
I was in a very bad position and not only were they kind and offered assistance and opinions on what I can do to make my situation better, but they were also very helpful and attentive and was going to help me financially. Fortunately, I was able to find a way to pay for it but they were great to me. I can’t thank them enough!
Dear Ms. Ruth, Thank you very much for helping fix Stuart's eyes. He is very happy now. Here's a picture of Stuart and I snuggling with his sister, Stella. Sincerely, Henry Welch
It is with great appreciation that I write this post. I have been a proud supporter of Pet Assistance for 3-years, after learning about the organization from a dear friend. Then, this past year, my son's cat, Stuart, started suffering from a severe skin irritation near his eye causing bleeding. We took Stuart to multiple vets but no one could figure out what was wrong with him. We reached out to Ruth, the Founder of Pet Assistance, and she became our #1 resource in resolving Stuart's eye issues. Ruth suggested a few simple diet changes, as well as some homeopathic treatments that the vets had not informed us about. Stuart's eye has been problem free for the past 6-months now, and we owe it all to Ruth and Pet Assistance! So, with that, we hope that all animal lovers find it in their hearts to give to Pet Assistance, an organization that truly cares, and it starts at the top! THANK YOU, Ruth! Best and with much appreciation, Jessica Stark and son, Henry Welch and Stuart the cat (Stuart pictured with his sister, Stella, enjoying his healthy eyes!)
I have chosen Pet Assistance as the charity to which I donate every year. The organization truly cares about getting pets the emergency care that they need, and PA provides sound advice to their owners who are under tremendous stress to saved their beloved pet.
All money donated goes to helping pets and owners in dire need of care. They believe that every pet deserves a chance!
Thank you for all that you do.
Wonderful organization, caring and helpful at my cats time of need
Pet Assistance Inc., and Ruth, specifically was there to lend an ear and assistance to help with my pets need.
If your looking for an organization to donate to, this is it!!! Money truly goes to pets in need!!
I want to express my deep gratitude to Ruth and to Pet Assistance. I am a Retired Air Force Navigator and when my Yorkshire Terrier needed Oral Surgery, I was really surprised at the estimated cost. I am on a fixed monthly income and the cost was beyond my budget and income. My Yorkie, Merry, has been with me and my Wife for the past 14 years, and the prospect of putting her to sleep had both of us unable to sleep, worrying about what we were going to do.
After contacting Pet Assistance, and talking to Ruth, we were able to see the light at the end of the tunnel, so to speak. Pet Assistance was able to donate to Merry's surgery and I am happy to report, she is almost back to her old self. I cannot say enough about Pet Assistance and as soon as I can, I will be sending them the money they donated to my Yorkie's operation.
Merry needs a groom ASAP and I will post a Photo when she gets cleaned up a bit.
Well done, Pet Assistance and well done to Ruth.
My cat Jace was having a very serious health emergency. He had been in and out of the hospital for over a month with repeated blockages. They were so expensive I was worried I wouldn’t be able to continue and he wouldn’t make it. I reached out to Pet Assistance and shared my situation with Ruth. She was so helpful, not only with financial assistance but with recommendations and suggestions about my next steps. I found an animal hospital who would rush him to PU surgery. Pet Assistance and Ruth made a donation to his care. I am so appreciative and Jace is now happy and healthy and we think he’ll lead a normal and healthy life. Thanks again!!!
My cat blue is really my best friend. When he got sick with bladder stones, I was devastated. Especially because the cost of the surgery was way more money than I had. I wrote to Pet Assistance, Inc. and they were very kind and gave me some financial assistance for Blue's surgery which saved his life! He is doing so well now. He is back to being my best buddy and my furry little "security guard". I will be forever greatful to Pet Assistance, Inc.. They are such good people. My Blue would not be here without their help.
Snuggles is my 1st fur baby that I got as an adult. He was 3 months old when we got him and is now 13 years old and still spunky as ever. Until he wasn't. He started developing a bump on his rectum that we were watching for a while. It then began to grow rapidly and surgery was beginning to come up in conversations with our Vet. If the mass became too big, there was a possibility it would block his bowels from coming out so surgery was becoming our only option in the near future. However, after seeing a surgeon, financially being able to get the surgery was our next hurdle. I began applying to grants and assistance programs rather viciously. Ruth at PAi reached out offering partial assistance! I really don't know how long we would have been able to hold out on surgery but Ruth came in to rescue us! We are grateful and now Snuggles is back to being his pain free, mass free, comfortable self!
Goosie, my 11 year-old Terrier mix developed two perineal hernias and was in great discomfort. Without corrective surgery, Goosie was at risk of infection and even death.
Thank you, Pet Assistance, for the help you have given in the form of advice and support and for helping us pay for this costly procedure.
Goosie is safe at home now. He is resting, healing, and trying to figure out how to function with a cone on his head. I'd send you a new picture but he has some big eye boogers that he refuses to let me clean. I'll get you a new picture of him as soon as he is made presentable; either by me sneaking up on him or his furry friend, Petunia, licking his eyeballs clean, which he has no problem with for some reason (but me and a damp cloth is torture!)
Thank you again for your much-needed generosity. Your support helped us through this time more than I ever hoped.
A couple of weeks ago my blue nose pit, Cujo got into a fight with a Brindle pit. Cujo was on his leash getting exercise with my cousin walking the neighborhood when the Brindle pit came up to my cousin and Cujo. The Brindle pit was not on a leash, was not supervised, left unattended by his owner who " claims let his dog outside to use the bathroom". This Brindle pit started acting aggressive and barking at both Cujo and my cousin. Once the Brindle pit attacked Cujo unprovoked, Cujo came out of his collar that his leash was attached to. Cujo started attacking back for fear of my cousin Nickie getting hurt. Through the hysterical crying,my aunt and I ascertained Cujo was in a fight with another pit and the situation wasn't favorable for Cujo. Upon hearing this,my aunt and I ran out the front door and down the street to where the dogs where still fighting. As I got closer to Cujo,my heart dropped, Cujo was covered head to tail in blood, yet he was still attacking back to defend himself. The owner of the Brindle pit was in between both dogs trying to break them apart. I ran to Cujo trying to calm him down and was able to pick Cujo up just barely and started to walk home with him in my arms. Fortunately, the owner of the other dog offered to give me and Cujo a ride home in the back of his pickup truck. Once home I ran to the bathroom carrying Cujo and put him in the tub and started cleaning him . The bleeding wouldn't stop due to a main artery behind Cujo's right ear had been nicked during the fight and without emergency assistance from the local veterinary hospital that night, Cujo would not be here today. And if not for the generous donation from Pet Assistance, Inc Cujo would not have come home after emergency surgery having 14 staples and sutures to his right ear. My family and I were unaware and never told that night we brought Cujo in that the balance of the bill needed to be paid before the"patient" was discharged. The final bill came to a grand total of $1,154.00. I found out that the veterinary hospital was entitled to keep pet if the bill wasn't paid. They could sell him to recoup their loss or dispose of pet at the local animal control facility. Cujo is a member of our family not just a pet so I immediately hit the internet researching resources that were available and came across Pet Assistance Inc and Ms. Ruth an absolute angel that provided financial assistance towards Cujo's bill. Without the assistance offered to us, we would not have been able to bring Cujo home. And without Cujo being home knowing he was being "punished" for standing up for himself and protecting my cousin from serious harm, I know I would have succumbed to a depression and anger I couldn't return from. So I wholeheartedly give Pet Assistance Inc 5 stars, being awesome and honest in their word and were concerned so much for Cujo's welfare that this charity were persistent in finally making contact with me and my family when unbeknownst to us our voicemail wasn't set up to receive messages, so Ms Ruth persisted in calling both our phones til we answered. I highly recommend getting in touch with this beautiful charity with any and all assistance you might need with your beloved family member.
her name is tootles and i remember the night she was born right next to me. her mom started screaming and running in circles. i’d never seen a cat act like that i had to act fast so i had my dahlia lay down and try and calm down. when i seen the baby’s little face bebe(dahlias nickname) screamed so i just pushed on bebe around the babies little face and she popped out! I noticed right away the baby wasn’t moving i remembered my mom (whom had recently passed unexpectedly) helping a dog she had in my teenage years and what she did. so i grabbed a rag and started rubbing the baby where her ribs were and blowing in her face a little bit trying to stimulate her to open her mouth and breathe finally she did but she didn’t scream not right away.
It was tootle and this was where her problem started from what I understand this birth and the problem she had attributed to her malformation in the past month she’s been hospitalized twice diagnosed with pneumonia and treated for that are in the process of being treated the second time she went to the hospital they found the birth defect and that may be causing her to have breathing problems it could be from the pneumonia and it’s quite possible that she may need a correct of surgery to save her life. Tootles is a third generation and our family her grandmother is my little brothers cat and her mom is my baby bebe.
i’m waiting to hear from a lady at the specialist veterinarian office That appointment for a consultation with the surgeon to see if she ’s a candidate and exactly what they’d like to do she has a herniated diaphragm and esophagus And I think some of her organs and the digestive system may be up around her lungs squishing her lungs and making it hard for her to breathe and attributing also to her pneumonia her bills now or around 3000 and the guest estimate for the surgery was 3000 to 4000.
my name is jenniffer davis my grand kitten is tootles. toots for short
Our Saint Bernard Ariel developed a growth on her front leg. It began to grow rapidly. She was taken to her vet. The vet said no one in town could had the capability to remove growth because it was "attached to the muscle". We were referred to a animal hospital 150 miles away. We drove Ariel to the hospital. The first thing the vet there recommended was amputation. He then said he could surgically remove it and gave us an estimate close to $4500.00. Not having the financial means for this. I started a GoFundMe page and got on the internet to spread the word. Luckily Ruth answered, and she expressed so much interest in trying to help. Many others didn't. It was Ruth who suggested a second opinion. Something that had not even crossed my mind. She googled vets in my city and gave me the one with the most positive reviews. An appt was made for Ariel. The vet saw her, and she immediately said she could remove it. The very next day Ariel was under the knife and her massive grapefruit-sized growth was removed. This vet couldn't believe we were referred to a place out of town. Ruth made this all possible! Ariel is again running around and enjoying life. The mass was sent to the lab, and it turned out to be an infected hair follicle. Thnx Ruth!!!
I about a week and a half ago I called this nonprofit to get some assistance for my puppies surgery. My puppy had to be taken into a vet hospital because she ate some thing she was not supposed to and it was causing her not to be able to eat or use the bathroom. She got very skinny and very ill very fast so my husband and I tried everything in our power to help her and it was not good enough which is why we ended up bringing her to the vet. We were told that she had a blockage and that she would need to stay overnight and get a surgery to remove whatever was stuck in her intestines and that it would cost $8000 just for the surgery and $2000 to stay overnight not including anything extra they might have to do. I cried so much because my dogs are my family and they mean the world to me and if I could give my life for my animals I would but when I called this nonprofit she made me feel like I was the worst dog owner ever. I don’t know who I spoke to, but I was inconsolable on the phone crying asking for any type of assistance with the bills and she refused to help because my dog was a puppy she said that they do not help puppies and that even if she could help it would only be with a few hundred dollars but she was not understanding that any dollar for me was valuable to be able to pay for whatever I could possibly pay for. As I was trying to tell her what was going on she did not let me speak and she kept making me feel bad about the fact that I was gifted a puppy instead of rescuing a dog from the animal shelter. She ended up denying me but told me to call her back with any updates which is what I did about 30 minutes later I had called her back to let her know that the vet called and told me that she was doing better and they got the blockage removed without having to perform surgery which meant that I didn’t have to pay $8000 out of pocket and that News made me so happy so even though this person was rude I really wanted to let her know the update so I called back and I let her know and she was even more rude than before, she even went as far to go to the point to tell me that it was my fault that that happened to my dog and in other words if I couldn’t afford it I should have just given her up she kept telling me to just surrender my dog like if my dog meant nothing to me. When she started saying this and didn’t even let me talk once again I decided to just hang up and block the number because that is the last thing any animal lover wants to hear when I was doing everything possible to get any penny to pay for my dog to survive! Long story short I got no assistance from them which is fine but I didn’t have to be treated in this manner, I am a pregnant woman saving up money to move into an apartment with an extra room for my unborn baby an extra room for my dogs and trying to save money for my maternity leave which will not be paid for by my job and all that money I had saved up I ended up spending on my dog because of how much I love her so I will definitely not be recommending this nonprofit and I am a part of some dog communities and have already spread the word because this was extremely uncalled for.
Mia is our precious little one; when she got sick everyone kept an eye on her cause we thought the worse. Seeing her so uncomfortable, not able to sleep, and whimpering every night was breaking our hearts. We tried going to the vet and put her on diets, exercise her, but nothing was making it better. The estimates for the surgery were outrageous and the entire process overwhelming. Ruth at Pet Assistance was so caring and helpful throughout the whole process. She guided us and was so nice about our situation. Mia had her surgery and even after her complications she was able to go back to her happy-self mass-free!!!

The grateful owner writing this review did not mention that Mia is 15 years old. She had a tumor the size of a tennis ball near her spine. PAi is so glad we could help with Mia's costly medical care and that she is back to her adorable, happy self.
My two female dogs got into a fight after being best friends for a while, and one ended up with a huge abscess on her neck with a fever. My daughter had just been diagnosed with a rare disease and had to have injections ($16,000 a month with insurance) and we had no money left to take my dog to the vet. I had used all my resources for our daughter. I called Pet Assistance Inc. and while I was sobbing embarrassingly, I was given comfort, hope, and help for my precious dog Lucy who is now getting so much better and almost fully recovered! Pet Assistance Inc was sent by Jesus to me during a very difficult time!!
My 5 yr old Chiweenie, Moose, suddenly need surgery for Patellar luxation. I started several fundraisers & committed to a surgery date. I had literally contacted every agency I was referred to. So many places couldn't help with the expensive procedure, but I was only in need of a small donation to be able to proceed with the operation.
Pet Assistance Inc let me know right away what I needed to email them & they approved our application immediately & made the whole process so stress free. So many other places wanted all my bank records, a list of all my expenses, tax returns, & much more!
Pet Assistance Inc saved us from having to push the surgery out another week or two while I still tried to raise funds.
Moose's surgery went great & he has been recovering for 72 hrs now.
We greatly appreciate Pet Assistance Inc!
Here are photos of Moose after surgery, hanging out with his cat & just trying to get out to the grass with a homemade sling.
I have been a volunteer at Pet Assistance Inc.for some time now. When I first started, I wasn't aware of the wonderful organization I was a part of. I saw the interest for peoples sick pets taken so seriously. I was amazed at how personal each case is taken and dealt with so professionally. In most cases, the pet's needs were met and they had happy endings. Pet Assistance Inc. is always concerned with pets, their well being and quality of life.
I had gotten in contact with this organization about a month ago. Molly was the person whom had been "assisting" me and emailing regards to a grant that was approved towards my pets surgery. She gave me the grant amount along with an expiration date, she also required me to apply to other organizations that she listed (I still applied even though it didn't fit me or my pets criteria). The organizations eventually declined help. She gave me the grant amount and specified that to notify her when the appointment was and they would contact the vet the day of the surgery to make payments. I've sent her emails stating the organizations declined to help but she never responded so I called and left a voicemail. When she returned my call she was very rude and refused to listen to me. I eventually scheduled the appointment for that same week and I emailed her the date and time of it and also to make sure that I wouldn't have issues with payment the next day. She replied to that email, but she didn't answer my question about arranging a time for the hospital to call them for payment, she ignored that part completely. I emailed and also called the day of her appointment, the vet also tried contacting her and she never responded. She is rude and so unprofessional, how is she going to tell me I have a grant and then not respond when it's the day of the surgery? If she could not or simply did not want to help she could have stated that. I had no reason to rush her surgery for this week. I only did so because she mentioned the grant was expiring soon. Worst mistake relying on this organization along with Molly.

On Mar 25, Ana (Allya506) applied to Pet Assistance, Inc (PAi) for financial help for her dog Sophie's tumor removal. On her application, she stated she could pay $100 for the procedure. PAI offered a grant on April 29 "Pet Assistance, Inc. will be happy to help with Sophie's tumor removal. We will pay the balance of the bill up to $200. We require that you apply to other organizations and keep us updated on other funding you receive. Pet Assistance is always the last to pay. We need a copy of the final invoice when the procedure is finished. Please ask the hospital to send the final invoice to petassistance1973@gmail.com. We then call the hospital and pay by credit card." May 25: Ana wrote to say she received a grant from Poodle Angels, Inc for $500. May 27: surgery was performed. The estimate was for $535. PAi never received an invoice because the bill was paid by Ana ($100) and Poodle Angels ($500) Our money was not needed.
Pet Assistance Inc is a GREAT organization!! They were there for my 16 year old Chihuahua Bentley when we needed help the most for his dental extractions. He required all of his teeth removed both for comfort & for survival!! I truly wish to thank Ruth & Pet Assistance Inc from the bottom of my heart for their generous donation!!
Removing his rotten teeth gave him a new lease on life. His eating improved significantly, he gained a bit of weight back, & the pain from his terribly decayed teeth was gone. It was more than I could have hoped for for him!!
A PET ASSISTANCE volunteer taught me how to TNR my first cat at the age of 20. This is an amazing rescue group who has accomplished tons of miracles over the years. Thank you for your service all over the United States.
When I found out that my kitty had severe infections in her mouth and needed surgery, Pet Assistance Inc was one of three organizations that replied to my request for assistance. Neyoni was scheduled to have surgery the first week of April; however, her infections were worsening quickly so I moved the surgery up. I contacted Pet Assistance, Inc about the sudden change in plans and they were very kind to pay their portion of the bill the day of the surgery. Thank you so much for making it possible to care for my kitty during this unexpected time. Having to pay out-of-pocket was equal to a month's worth of rent, so I am beyond grateful for the kind generosity!
I’m so pleased that Pet Assistance helped our precious Tuffy by providing assistance with vet expenses. Our Tuffy had been in pain unbeknownst to us because of a urethra obstruction. Although, The Cleveland Veterinary Hospital did a great job helping Tuffy, I still struggled paying the bill and Pet assistance was willing to help. I appreciate Ruth and the Pet Assistance team.
We are so grateful to Pet Assistance for helping us care for our sweet Bella! Bella was in need of a costly surgery and they helped reduce the cost of our bill so that we could have the procedure done as soon as possible. Ruth was also very responsive and supportive throughout the entire process, it was clear that they truly cared about Bella's health and well-being.
My brother and I want to express how grateful we are for finding Pet Assistance, Inc. His 15+ year old cat, Breezy had to have surgery, a mass removal level 1. Pet assistance came to our help. They responded quickly to our request and worked with me to get all the information necessary to assist us with paying for his surgery. They are wonderful people to work with, positive and supportive. I am glad that I found them on the internet and would recommend them to anyone needing assistance with paying for treatment for their pets. We cannot thank them enough. Breezy is doing great and thanks them also.
I first heard about Pet Assistance from a neighbor who they approved for a grant, and I’m so glad I did! I can not thank Pet Assistance enough for their help with my dog Sophie. Not only did they help reduce the cost of my bill, they were so very supportive and gave me excellent advice for the future. Thankfully, I was able to pay the bill after everything I learned. They were so professional, attentive, and kind through out the whole process. Thank you Pet Assistance!!!
My dog Bo swallowed a large bone and needed a procedure to remove it, being a college student I didn’t have the ability to afford it especially because she needed it immediately! I contacted Pet assistance early morning and they respond back to me within hours and was so friendly and really cared about Bo’s well being. Thank you Pet Assistance for saving her!
My bestfriend gave me the name of this place Pet assistance I called and spoke to Ruth who was so helpful and considerate she tried to find me help with my 2.5yo male cat Grayson who was having urinary issues and needed to have pu surgery I started a GoFundMe and raise most of the money and pet assistant stepped in and helped me pay the balance owed.We are forever grateful for them being here to help save our boys life. Thank Ruth and pet assistance for all your help!!
Like most of the world 2020 was hard. Covid brought unemployment to our doorstep right when one of our furbabies became ill. Our Lilly needed medical testing but our checkbook was unable to accommodate. We were stressed and heartbroken not knowing what to do next. Lilly's bloody noses were getting worse and we were at a loss. Pet Assistance came to the rescue. Not only did you assist us financially but also with helpful suggestions and such kindness during a difficult season. When we are back on our feet this will certainly be an organization to which we will donate! Pet Assistance not only helped a sweet animal but a beloved pet which in turn made all the difference to our family. We will be forever grateful to Pet Assistance.
I reached at to Pet Assistance Inc after being turned down by other organizations. My 16 month old puppy need orthopedic surgery on both knees totaling of $6k . We were doing only the worst of two due to finances and having no luck getting help. Molly was very quick to respond with a letter saying Cruzer was approved for assistance. I did my part and then scheduled surgery. I followed Molly’s instructions to a “ T” and sure enough they paid the vet. I am furever grateful to Pet Assistance Inc for their quick response in a very caring and professional manner. Cruzer gives you five paws up. Thank you again
Last month, my 10 month old kitten got sick all of sudden. I contacted Ruth at Pet Assistance. She was able to raise several hundreds of dollars in my time of need. Ruth was caring and compassionate during that time. Thank you for your compassion and your help during a VERY difficult time.
A big THANK YOU to everyone at Pet Assistance for your generous gift to my fur baby which really helped. You truly make a difference for us animal lovers and I am extremely grateful! "Baby" is still recovering from surgery. I am so thankful that you folks helped us!
For anyone wondering if this is a legit foundation, they sure are. My fur baby, "Baby", broke her femur and need surgery and her original vet quoted me an arm and leg. I finally found a vet who was willing to do payment plans prior to doing surgery and this foundation was able to help me with some of the down payment, which I am truly grateful for.
I hope I will be able to give back sooner than later so I can also help other pet lovers in need. I’ve included pictures of her being miserable when it first happened and now as she is recovering.
We are so incredibly grateful for Ruth and Pet Assistance, Inc. she helped us do more research to find a more affordable vet for a surgery that was needed and would have been fatal if Maci didn't receive it. She suggested many many options and even other non-profits to help us. Maci had the surgery and we were able to afford it without needing Pet Assistance to help us pay! We will always be grateful for Ruth and Pet Assistance, Inc.
I am so thankful that I found Pet Assistance, Inc. They helped me with an emergency surgery for my kitty, Fluffy. She had an abscessed tooth and severe swelling of her left cheek. Ruth was great to work with and was very responsive to my request.
I can’t express with words how grateful we are to the organization and Ruth for making this possible. Our boy Toto got suddenly sick and hospitalization was needed urgently to lower level of toxins. Toto was so sick and depressed. I was having the worst time, I didn't know what was going to happen to him and also I had no way to cover vet's bill after the 5 days he was admitted. Luckily things starting getting better, vet called with updates as he was responding to treatment and Ruth was amazing and reached out immediately after I emailed Pet Assistance, Inc. with my urgent request. She was so kind and also provided me with a lot of information. Couple days later as I was at vet to pick up Toto and got a bill over 1K, I called Ruth and she promptly reached out to Vet's office and covered $250 from my bill. Their assistance was seriously vital. They do really care about pets and their families.
All I can say is our Toto means a world for me and my daughter. Toto is now home and we are taking good care of him, evolution has been beautiful and we sure have a long way to keep enjoying our furry companion.
I cannot say
enough about pet assist and the assistance they provided to me and my pup. Louie was blind from diabetic cataracts , being that I’m a nurse this was devastating not being able to help my own dog . I may not be low income but I did not have 4000.00 for the surgery . I contacted Pet assist and Ruth was so kind , understood my situation and contributed to Louie’s cause.
Louie was so depressed from his blindness , I saw an instant change after surgery .
I got my puppy back !
Thank you pet assist for helping Louie get his sight back and his personality ! We are forever grateful.
Pet Assistance is an amazing organization that helped us save the life of our beloved German Shepherd, Severus. Without the help of people Ruth and organizations like this one, we never would have been able to afford the surgery Severus' needed to live a long, healthy, and happy life. We're so very grateful and cannot speak highly enough about how wonderful they were to us. Even in the midst of her own health issues, the founder Ruth kept in touch with us and got prompt payment directly to the University performing the operation. She's an angel, no doubt! Thank you, Pet Assistance and thank you Ruth!
Pet Assistance Inc informed me I was awarded a $275 grant towards my pet's vet care of over $700. I notified PAI that I was taking my pet to the vet today using their grant. Throughout the day, PAI called my vet's office harassing the staff and demanded to know why the vet wasn't going straight to surgery versus trying a non-invasive way to resolve my pet's need.
After the entire procedure was complete and it was time to pay the bill today, PAI refused. PAI spoke to me on the phone and it was one of the rudest experiences I have ever had. PAI said they might pay the bill in a couple of weeks or a month. Unfortunately, my pet suffers. My vet said my pet cannot get the sample cultured until the bill is paid.
I can't believe an organization dedicated to helping animals would knowingly let a pet suffer. A pet who the organization agreed to help.
Please help me get the funding to pay the vet bill so my pet can return to health and a normal quality of life.
I have 25 years of non-profit experience and I have never encountered such a disreputable action from a non-profit.
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND USING PAI OR TRUSTING THEM TO HOLD TO THEIR WORD.

When the health of our beloved pet is in danger emotions can run very high. At Pet Assistance Inc., we never take the health and welfare of any animal lightly. PAi. can only make grants within the boundaries outlined by our organization's bylaws. We only award small grants, and the owner must always make a financial contribution. The owner's contribution is defined before a grant is offered. Typically, PAi grants are awarded for urgent care and emergency surgery only, and diagnosis analysis is the responsibility of the pet owner. In this case, the pet owner and veterinary hospital were trying to avoid surgery, and so PAi made an exception and agreed to pay for part of the cat’s diagnostic tests. We have fulfilled this grant as promised. However, the owner is still obligated to make their financial contribution as agreed. Posting a poor review does not excuse her from this obligation, nor shift the responsibility for her cat’s health to us.

We are so thankful for the assistance received. Our old boy needed emergency eye surgery to kill the eye given extreme elevated pressures we couldn’t control. After an expensive ER visit we were short. Ruth quickly replied to us and the organization helped with half the cost. Pepe is doing amazing post surgery ( the source of his pain and issues ) and we are supper thankful to have given him the help he needed given the assistance !! You guys are amazing. Thank you so much for what you do!
Pet Assistance, Inc. has been such a wonderful organization to work with! They so generously contributed to my dog Pippa's eye surgery and I could not have done this without them! Working with them throughout the process was such a pleasure and I'm so thankful for this great organization and members.
Since COVID my husbands hours had been cut and I was on workers compensation. Of course our 6 month old lab / pit mix Poppy had an emergency. We took her to the emergency vet and they concluded she had an intestinal blockage. They gave us 3 options 1 surgery would be $4500. 2 sign her over to a rescue and release our rights to her or option 3 put her to sleep. We tried to get care credit, etc but we were denied. After a long night we took Poppy home to figure out what to do. I was online emailing organizations begging for help. In the mean time we found a vet that would do surgery for $1500. I was continually emailing organizations begging for anything. I put a note on Facebook asking my friends for help and in 35 minutes they came up with $965. In the mean time I received a phone call saying Per Assistance would help us with her bill. They called daily after surgery to check on Poppys progress. She is back 100% to her normal self. It would have never been possible without this great organization and people that run it!!
I have a 1 yr old kitten named Jules that needed to have surgery on his knees. I am on disability and wasn’t able to come up with all of the money for the prosedures. Thankfully the doctor discounted the surgery and due to the donation of Pet Assistance who was able to donate the last $100 I needed he has completed his first surgery and is recovering peacefully at home.
As 5 month old Daffy Roo has to get her eye removed, the surgery cost a lot and we couldn’t be more grateful for the contribution Pet Assistance Inc helped with. Thank you!
One of the many wonderful things about this organization is that it has an incredible resource of data gathered over the 47 years of its existence. Ruth keeps records of every animal/person the organization has assisted with vet bills. Every time someone comes to Pet Assistance with an estimate that will cripple a family, she looks into her database and finds a vet located within driving distance who will do the work for considerably less. She has contacts all over the country and, as you can see from all the other reviews, she is an incredible help to those in financial need.
Pet Assistance is a unique, much-needed service and Ruth treats every case with thoughtful care and consideration. She assesses all details of each situation and in doing so provides valuable advice and support to pet owners in need. And if Ruth determines that financial aid is warranted, she even helps to negotiate the best price and "vets" the vets to ensure the best outcomes. I am extremely proud work with Ruth and to be part of this organization.
I emailed atleast 5 places in panic because I thought Kitty was going to die. I took him to a vet and they said he had a slight blockage but gave 2 shots said if not better by morning bring him back. Kitty hadnt peed at all I was so scared. This was all new to me I never had a sic pet. That next morning Kitty was worse they told me they was booked and I cant come and to find somewhere else. But they was the only near low cost clinic. It was then I got on googled and emailed every place I could find. And PET ASSISTANCE emailed me back. Actually they the only ones emailed me back. And I only sent a simple sentence asking for help. The person messaging me was the best. Showed so much concern and care. With no hesitation they told me when I get to the clinic to email them and they will assist. Omg that melted my heart. However a few hours later Kitty showed signs of feeling better it was like a miracle cause Lord knows I aint have a dime to spare lol. As I monitored I then email PET ASSISTANCE and told them how much I appreciated the help but was no longer needed. The person was still so concerned about Kitty asking about the food meds and follow ups, assuring he was ok and that if I needed help in the future they was available.
Yall if your pet is in need of help or even if you need advice or hope email them. Anyone donating to this organization I appreciate you all. Please continue to bless this organization because they definitely are helping save lives.
Pet Assistance helped us save HMF Superdog after a terrible fight with another family dog. He's doing great, thanks to Ruth and the other kind folks who helped. =) HMF Superdog is a therapy dog for a family with PTSD and auto-immune issues, and he's finally back to work after weeks of healing.
Ruth is wonderful. Our dog was diagnosed with pyometra. She needed treatment right away. We called a few other places but unfortunately it didn't work out, and were not very helpful. We called pet assistance and got Ruth. She is the reason my dog is here today. She went above and beyond for our dog. I am thankful we got in touch with her, she made it all happen. I truly can't put into words how thankful my family and I are. I can never thank her enough. She is amazing at what she does.
Pet assistance Inc. saved my dog’s life. He had Nasal aspergillosis. Most cases of nasal aspergillosis are invasive meaning that the fungus destroys the delicate bones of the sinuses. This is the kind my dog Eddie had. This fungus causes the dog to sneeze often and hard. It causes nasal pain, bleeding from the nose, reduced appetite, visibly swollen nose, and long-term nasal discharge from a nostril. This fungus eventually eats into the brain and is terminal. Eddie was a mess. After he had his procedure to remove the fungus the vet said Eddie’s case was one of the worst she had ever seen. If Eddie didn’t have this procedure he would have had to be euthanized because his quality of life was not good. I cannot thank Pet Assistance Inc enough. Not only did they assist financially, but they were emotionally supportive. I have my dog, he is healing but he is clearly much happier. Thank you so much Pet Assistance Inc.
November 2019, already having financial difficulties, I lost my job. I tried to keep my spirits up and focus on securing new employment. During this time, I exhausted the savings I had left, and maxed out most credit cards to handle food, medical, utilities, and other expenses. You can imagine the panic when my little fur boy got sick and I had no money to get help for him.
I have a wellness plan for him, and my other fur babies that allows me to take them to a vet to be seen and diagnosed, but it doesn’t cover treatment. Prince had been diagnosed with stones that were preventing him from urinating. I was told that if this wasn’t fixed, his bladder could rupture, and he could bleed to death internally. My heart was in a panic. I had enough left on my credit card for them to insert a catheter to drain his bladder, and to cover an antibiotic, but was told that this was a temporary fix.
I was advised to look for charitable organizations that might help me. I applied for assistance to a number of places, but PET ASSISTANCE INC was the ONLY one to respond, and their response was speedy!
I also found a low cost vet to take him to. I couldn’t afford the treatment plan there either, so I had to just bring him a couple days straight to have a catheter inserted to drain his bladder. Pet assisted Inc told me to have the treatment plan sent to them, and they would pay the vet.
Fortunately before they had to pay, Prince was able to urinate on his own. Between them draining and irrigating the bladder with antibiotics, and the antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medications, and change in diet he got better. I’m grateful for the fact they they were about to jump in and help me and my boy during such a desperate time!❣️
A huge valentine to Pet Assistance. I made a blind effort online to find someone for help, sight unseen. I found it in Pet Assistance, the only one who responded to my application. My 15-18-year-old cat Cherry Blossom had stomatitis surgery and Pet Assistance covered the cost. I am still monitoring her condition 2 weeks following surgery (January 29, 2020 - February 14, 2020) but that is a separate issue from Pet Assistance generosity. I cannot express enough gratitude to this organization for its kindness. The first photo shows Cherry Blossom on March 13, 2019. The other photo shows her on February 4, 2020, resuming the daily (never missed a day even with surgery) hall walks. If your pet ever needs a friend look no further than Pet Assistance, Inc. Please, if you are able, please donate to this organization so they can continue to help others.
Ruth from PAI was very understanding and compassionate towards my situation. Lily is my 10 year old Cocker Spaniel who needed to have ear surgery due to a chronic infection. PAI was able to assist me with payment and showed great concern for Lily. I could not have done it without their help! Lily and I thank you for your generosity and empathy. Lily is doing well and is in the recovery stage. Here are some pictures of her! Thank you PAI!
Hello Friends, my story goes back a few years and continues to this very day. I have been out of work since July 2017, needed Surgery which finally happened in May 2019. In that time span I lost 3 cats in a six month period. Without work, emergencies are impossible for me on my small Social Security Income, and needless to say I blame myself for their loss. So when I noticed a lump, a month or so ago on my Big Andy's cheek (white & tan cat) I was beside myself. I searched the internet for help and organized a GoFundMe Campaign for his surgery. The good Lord sent me some wonderful people including Pet Assistance, Inc., CT. The surgery went well and Andy is now on his way to a full recovery. HOPEFULLY, this very morning another beloved cat of mine Suzy (tabby) passed away in my arms. She had been struggling with Asthma. Suzy and Andy where friends from the very beginning when I rescued her from the street. I hope this does not sadden him too much so that he may continue to heal properly. Through my deep sadness of losing Suzy, I am still so grateful to all that helped my Big Andy. God Bless and Happy Holidays. Rachel - El Cajon, California
I am a disabled veteran. My family has experienced a lot of hardships with disability affecting everyone including our pets. Ruth was the first one to respond one night when I was waiting and wondering what I was going to do. I will forever be grateful for her organization help. I have a little different service animal. He happens to be a cat named Dewey. He picked me when his mother carried to our home to have her Litter. He would always come and sit in my lap when I was struggling with our problems. He got sick with urinary blockage problems and it didn't look good. We were able to try surgery and it seems to be working Thank God. This veteran will always be thankful for Pet Assistance. Please support this worthy organization.

I am very grateful for Pet Assistance, Inc. My McCoy was able to get the required surgery he needed to remove two masses from his legs. One of the tumors was large and started affecting his walking. I am a single mom and finances are very tight. I could not afford the surgery all on my own and the help I received was greatly appreciated. They were very supportive and caring from the beginning to the end. McCoy is resting and healing up. We are both looking forward to be able to take our walks again. This all would have not been possible without PAI.
My cat, Riley needed emergency abdominal surgery. I had spent most of my money already with xrays, labs, etc. As everyone knows, Vet costs can add up so quickly. I was panicking that I wouldn't be able to help my baby. I was so worried. I applied to Pet Assistance for help. They were not only extremely nice, but they came through quickly with the money I needed. I am so appreciative. My Riley is like my child and he was suffering. They helped me so much.
Riley had his surgery. He is home and doing well. I don't know what I would've done without their help. To know that there is an organization out there that can help your pet when they are in trouble is just so wonderful. Please keep up the good work. Our pets are so important to us. Thank you.
Louie our family cat ran away from home and came back a week later with a foxtail thorn deeply embedded in his eye. After spending almost all we had in our savings on a few surgeries to remove the foxtail, Louie's eye still ruptured. He needed another surgery to remove his eyeball to protect him from pain and infection that would kill him. Unfortunately we did not have enough money to pay for louie's next surgery. we are so grateful to PET ASSISTANCE INC and our case worker Kathy. Not only did they help pay for most of louie's next surgery they were so kind and supportive. PET ASSISTANCE INC truly saved our Louie. Thank you is just not enough for Angels like them. Thank you so much from Louie and Our family .
My chocolate Lab Piper all of a sudden had no use of her hind legs, her vet after an emergency visit and $300 said she had to have surgery $1500 additional and scheduled her surgery sent use home with antibiotics. I unfortunately just lost my mom and out of work the vet wanted cash that day no exceptions!!! My dog had to have surgery or she'd Die!!! The only thing I have left in my life is my dog so with no where to turn I found Pet assistance, Inc and they reached out to their contacts in my area with their resources they got back to me with in minutes with a local foundation and kept in touch with me making sure Piper was going to get her surgery as well as the emotional support that I so needed . All this was after hours but not once did that ever come up. I call her my Angel . I was turned down and my calls not returned emails not answered for 2 days it was my last attempt to find some help to save my dog when my Angel answered me and that second she made me feel like it was going to be ok she was not going to sleep until she found the assistance I needed . Words can not explain how thankful I am for the help and support I received from Pet Assistance !!!!! thank you
My pug Max was diagnosed with advanced glaucoma is his left eye. I researched many nonprofits organizations for assistance since in my case I had lost my job and needed Max to be taken care of. I reached out to Pet Assistance Inc and got a quick response back and told them my situation. They were eager to help with my situation and brought a great relief to Max and myself by assisting in some of the funds needed to extract his eye that was giving Max pain and pressure. I can't thank them enough and Max sure does appreciate all they have done.
I have had Zeus since he was a kitten, he is now 5. I found him late one night hiding and in a lot of pain, as soon as morning came i took him to the vet to find out that he had a dislocated hip and needed an extensive surgery that was much more than I could possibly afford. With the generosity of Pet Assistance, Inc, I was able to pay enough to get him into surgery. It has now been almost 5 weeks and he is doing amazing and will hopefully be able to go outside and enjoy the sunshine this summer. Thank you to this amazing organization! My life would not be the same without my little buddy.
My 14 year old cat wasn't eating, so after 2 days, I took him to the vet. He had a bad infection in his mouth/gums and needed surgery to remove some of the bad teeth. I live on a very limited income (Social Security) and was very worried about how I was going to pay for his surgery. The clinic manager at my vet suggested I apply to Pet Assistance, Inc. to see if I qualify for financial assistance.
I am so deeply grateful that Pet Assistance, Inc. approved me for a grant to help pay for Junior's surgery. They not only helped us out financially but the woman who handled my case showed her concern about my cat too. We stayed in touch as we prepared for the surgery and after it was done. Thanks so very much to Ruth Pearl, a woman who cares deeply about owners & their pets.

My family and I would like to thank Ruth from pet assistance inc. organization. Our dog Naiya had a surgical procedure that was unexpected after she was brought to the vet just for a spaye, microchip and vaccines. A $250 procedure ended up being quoted to $2003.13. My fiance and I didn't know what to do. On Saturday morning he called pet assistance inc. and spoke to Ruth. Ruth is such an amazing person. Ruth was very helpful and very passionate about animals. We really appreciate this organization so much. Thank you all for everything!
I have have the honor and privilege of working with, and watching Ruth spend many hours reviewing countless pleas for help with their beloved pets. Each case she takes personally and her genuine passion for helping people is endless. I am proud to not only volunteer for her, but also to call her my friend.

I cannot thank Pet assistance enough for their offer to help with Missy’s mastectomy surgery. Missy is a well behaved trained and spayed female with mammary tumors growing and active around her teats. Missy had tumors on both sides and had her left side operated on first and the vet recommended to wait a few months for the right side to be done. After all was done, Missy’s procedure was just a little less then an hour and did not require much of the funds. I hope you can reuse the $125 granted for Missy’s surgery to help another pet in need. Thank you again.. Missy and her Mom
Hello, I owe Pet Assist my life! Because That is what it would end up costing me if Pet Assist hadn't of answered my need for VeterInary funds to save my precious little doggie "Partner"recently. I am certain I cannot live without my little itty bitty guy! So when he fell quite ill to a degree it became necessary to get him a doctor's help, I reached out for help and a wonderful lady named Ms. Ruth answered with real concern. Pet Assist paid for all the diagnostics and hospital fees without hesitation. "Saving pets lives is REALLY what they do" at Pet Assist. I am forever grateful to this awesome organization. Thank you Pet Assist and a huge thank you to their exceptional Volunteer, Ms. Ruth for all her help and kindness.
Thank you very much,
Lavonne and Poppy
We would like to thank Pest Assistance, Inc for their help, we so greatly appreciate you and all your help with Odin, Odin was in need of emergency medical surgery in order to have his left eye removed, and we had reached out to several other services for help, but no-one was able to help us, we told by others to turn our family pet into the shelter because we were not able to find help, Pet Assistance jumped right in to help and we were able to get Odin the emergency medial attention he needed. Thank you for your help and reaching out to us after to find out how Odin was doing!!!
My cat 'Fin' had an allergic reaction to the food he had been fed for 7 1/2 years suddenly. He vomited for 2 days with diarrhea for 2 days. He lost his appetite, and lost a severe amount of weight. My Veterinarian clinic told me he should have an ultrasound and blood work. I found out about Pet Assistance by my Vet. Pet Assistance didn't help me with my 752.00 vet bill, due to what they stated is that it has already happened, and that they only pay for treatment before it happens. That didn't make sense to me, since I wasn't prepared for Fins allergic reaction in advance, and I had to respond in an emergency. I am on SSI and SSDI, and I couldn't afford Fins veterinary bill. Even though Pet Assistance declined to help me, Ruth has followed up with Fins ongoing treatments of force feedings that I had to complete 4x per day at home, by offering me advice, and being concerned over Fins well being, and being in constant contact with me via email. Fins has finally recovered, Im so relieved! The veterinarian wasn't so sure he would recover. He's returned to sleeping on my bed at night, being very energetic, and playing with my other cat , Wolf. He happens to have bladder stones, as found out by the ultrasound he had to have. I'm hoping Pet Assistance will help me with that bill. Heres my wonderful cat Fin, when I took a picture of him when he was sick, as I was wanting pictures of Fin in case I lost him.
Ruth was kind enough to make a donation towards the vet bill of our beloved Ms Kitty. I am forever grateful to this organization for they really came though for us! Thanks to their help, Ms Kitty is on the mend! Thank you!!!
I am very thankful for the support of Pet Assistance, Inc. I needed emergency assistance due to my dog having this rare disease called Myasthenia Gravis, which caused a secondary problem, Megaesophagus. From there, Jakobi got aspiration pneumonia and this was all within a 2 week timeframe after diagnosis. I contacted them historical and all over the place, and without hesitation, they were able to assist me with one of Jakobi’s hospital stays and I am greatly appreciative of it. Jakobi is doing so much better now!!!
Ruth at Pet Assistance helped me with my male cat urinary surgery quickly. He is now alive and well. I am so greatful this charity helped me financially with the $1300 surgery. It was a life threatening emergency surgery or euthanasia. He was blocked three times in a week even after catheter was placed overnight, and in a lot of pain he was collapsing. We were blessed to have Pet Assistance work with our vet for Calvin our family cat. He is in recovery with prescription medicine and a new vet diet.
I recently had my 11 yr old Lab diagnosed with cancer. She needed to get surgery right away to have the best prognosis. I contacted Pet Assistance Inc and Ruth was nice enough to donate $150 towards Sandy's surgery even after her surgery took place. I was informed that this is usually not the case but an exception was made. This is a charity with heart and they definitely deliver when it comes to concern and kindness. It is also wonderful that they are looking out for older dogs as well. We will be forever grateful for their help. Sandy is recovering from the surgery and is progressing well. Thanks again Pet Assistance.

When my dog, Leela, first went down from 2 ruptured disks in her back, I was devastated. I didnt know what to do. I'm new to being a disabled doggy dad. I love my baby girl very much and she is as important to me as any human child. I was calling around, looking for funding to help get her back surgery when I came across this organization. When I called, Ruth answered, and she listened to me and tried to find out what was wrong. Remember, this is week 2 of her injury. She sat with me, listening to my problems like a therapist. Offering me hope and guidance. She sent me every article and website she could find to offer more assistance. She even called a few vets to find a cheaper surgery. In the end, we had to go with acupuncture because I couldnt raise the additional funds from other sources for her back surgery but Ruth wasnt done helping me. She talked with me about the acupuncture and is currently funding 3 sessions for Leela that appear to be working tremendously. She has worked with me every step of the way and this company deserves the recognition!
My dog Precious who has been with me for 10 yrs. started getting bumps on her leg, I thought they were bites from fleas or misquitoes. Suddenly one of her mammary glands swelled up, not having transportation I had to wait until I could find a ride. Things got worse and being on a fixed income I was concerned with the charges from the Vet (they do not do time payments) but knew I had to get her in somewhere. I researched online and found Pet Assistance, Inc right away. I filled out the form and kept it on my computer until I was sure I could get her to the vet and needed the help. Ruth was extremely quick in corresponding when I had sent emails while waiting, and to the need when I did get her to a Vet. This was a big help and relief off my shoulders. Although we still have a way to go, the load was lighter financially and it was a big help. Ruth's caring attitude was a comfort.
Thank you
Pet Assistance is a wonderful organization that helped me when my dog Foxy was in need of an emergency splenectomy. I’m a senior citizen on a fixed income. Without the help from Pet Assistance I would’ve been able to afford the surgery. I’m forever grateful to the loving people at Pet Assistance!
Blanca and I are so grateful for Pet Assistance. If not for this organization I don't know where my FurBaby would be. She is my Little companion that makes my day, every day. No matter how bad my chronic pain is, she makes it all better. When I took her to the vet. the Dr. told me she had Bladder stones and should be spayed. This was a very expensive procedure for me being on a fixed income. I filled out an application and Ruth Pearl contacted me. She contacted my vet. and helped my Blanca with the procedure needed to make Blanca all better. Thank God for Pet Assistance.
Houdini had been gaining weight rapidly his food intake was the same as was the type of food so I could not understand why he was 20 pounds over his ideal weight. His breed is prone to several weight issues so I started trying to find help to get him diagnosed the bloodwork is very expensive. After endless months of applying for help and even with him being my physiological service dog I almost gave up. I saw a review for Pet Assistance Inc I wrote to them with our story and even with it being a weekend I got the email of Hope we had been looking for. There were no questions about why I could not pay for the Vet just kind words saying they wanted to help us and THEY DID!! With there help Houdini is started on the right path to wellness. Without there help I don't know how much longer he would I'd lived. They are truly kind selfless people.
My baby Trouble had a large bladder stone that needed to be surgically removed. I tried desperately for a month to save my money so I could pay for the nearly $800 procedure. It was extremely difficult to do considering I live paycheck to paycheck. I was desperate and terrified. Trouble has been my best friend for 10 years and I don't know what I would do without him. I had to turn to someone who could possibly help Trouble. I found Pet Assistance, Inc. through a quick google search. Once I filled out the application, a very kind caseworker named Aileen contacted me and was able to help with Trouble's surgery. Aileen was extremely kind and helpful every time I spoke with her. She made an extremely stressful time for me a little bit easier. Last minute, Trouble ended up not needing surgery due to the fact that he passed the bladder stone on his own. Even when the plans changed last minute, Aileen was extremely understanding. She was just as excited and grateful as I was to find out that Trouble didn't need surgery after all. I would strongly recommend this organization to anyone who's pet in need of urgent care that their owner can't afford on their own. This organization is run by amazing people with a big heart. Thank you so much to Pet Assistance, Inc. for everything!
My sweet 15 yr old Tinkerbell had a swollen face one morning. I'm in a panic. Take her to the vet and she needs dental surgery asap to clean and extract some teeth that had calcifications and just all around bad. Being on disability and low income there was no way I was able to afford even half of the surgery. Luckily, my daughter could help with the initial appointment and gave me the contact information for Pet Assistance Inc (My daughter's cat had just had to have surgery to remove a cancerous tumor from her mammary glands and Pet Assistance Inc stepped in and helped her as well) and they came through within two days to cover a major portion of the surgery. Without them, I don't know what I would have done. My Tinkerbell, Trinket(2) and Misty(12) (all cats) are my babies.
My Tinkerbell is back to her sassy old self. Running with her 2 yr old sister, doing her sneak attacks, crunching on treats and most importantly, the cat food in her dish is disappearing. Thank you so much Pet Assistance Inc. You are amazing in what you do.

Puppers, my 12 year old Chihuahua had an infected uterus. Her stomach was swollen and hard as a rock. I could not find a place to do surgery right away that I could afford. Pet Assistance found us an inexpensive hospital and even paid part of the bill. Pet Assistance, we love you! Thank you!
I wish I could report something good about this organization. Maybe they help some people out but I will tell you who they suggested I euthanize, a kitten. Our kitten was rescued from a barn who was in bad shape, he was malnurished, full of parasites, and covered in flea's. He began to thrive after seeing the vet and being on high protein foods. He fell sick with an upper respiratory infection and soon developed pneumonia. Apparently, because of this and him being hospitalized recently, I was told to "cut my losses". This baby has not had a chance to live. He does not know what autumn looks like, has not seen snow, has not had any firsts. We have raised money for him but potentially need a boost, not to be told to euthanize him. I will never donate to rescues again, over the years I have been lucky to never need help with a rescue so I donate regularly, never again
Ruth was amazing to say the least. I was turned down for help by everyone but Pet Assistance stepped up and quickly. I was humbled by how quickly they helped me. My dog was attacked and needed help immediately an within a day Ruth called and helped pay my bill. I know that people reach out all the time this was my first time ever asking and this organization was a life saver for me and my fur baby. I want to say thank you to Ruth personally and give them the credit they deserve. Others turned me down some would not even consider but Pet Assistance never judged they just stepped up. The application process was easy and Ruth truly cared and checked on us right away. Ruth eased my mind that with her help my Sookie was going to be able to get the care he needed. God Bless this organization they truly care about our fur babies.
My dog Sophie is approximately 10 years old. Before she came to live with me she was used as a puppy mill by an apartment breeder that never invested any of the money she made from the puppies into Sophie's health care. That woman abandoned both Sophie and Sophie's daughter Bella with me when I dog sat for her. It wasn't until the dogs were staying with me that I found out about Sophie being used as a puppy mill. I got the dogs vaccinated and micro-chipped then started saving to get the dogs spayed. Then I discovered that Sophie had a large mammary mass. In just a few months it doubled in size and a few new small mammary masses appeared so we went to see the vet. Her vet recommended that we remove the mammary masses and send them out for histopathology asap. I am disabled and on social security so saving up takes time which we didn't have. I only had $200 saved at the time of the appointment but the estimate was for $366 - $487. So I started searching the internet for help and found Pet Assistance Inc. Ruth got back to me quickly and was able to help with some of the bill. The vet only accepts cash or check so Ruth got in touch with the vet's office and made arrangements to send a check so there were no worries on the day of surgery.
Sophie's surgery went well although the planned surgery was changed to remove just the large mammary mass and send it out for histopathology and wait for the results before we remove the smaller masses and spay her. The results have come in and the mammary mass was not cancer. It was benign. So we will be moving forward with her second surgery as soon as she is healed from the first. We would not have gotten this far without help from Ruth at Pet Assistance Inc.
This was my original letter to Pet Assistance, Inc.:
Shadow was a gift for my 55th birthday. I had recently lost my poodle of 18 years. Shadow was adopted on a Friday from DFW Humane Society. He was in a covered, outdoor portion of the shelter where it was cold and damp. By Sunday Shadow was gravely ill and I had to take him to the Animal Emergency Room. To this day, they aren't 100% sure but they believe Shadow had the Parvo virus. $3000 and many weeks later, Shadow was finally out of the woods. Dr. Brashear at Main Street Veterinary Hospital saved his life. Now he is back at the same hospital needing this surgery. Shadow is the most human creature I've ever known. He is so in tune to my feelings and emotions. He is always quick to give me a kiss or lick my tears away when I'm sad. He is an angel sent to me from heaven and he is my whole world. I am distraught that I am unable to afford this surgery that he desperately needs and that I have to see him in pain. He has several teeth that need to be extracted due to chronic infection into the bone that has not responded to multiple rounds of antibiotics. I am a senior who receives SSI benefits only and I was not approved for Care Credit. I have attached the quote for his surgery and my SSI benefits statement.
With the help of Pet Assistance, Inc. Shadow had an extensive 2 hour surgery to have 10 teeth extracted as well as having gum tissue cut back and debrided. Shadow has an excellent prognosis and came through it like a champ! I have attached a photo of him on the way home after surgery showing off his pearly whites. I don’t think the anesthesia had completely worn off yet!
Pet Assistance, Inc. is a wonderful organization. My dog, Momo, needed surgery to remove soft tissue in his throat (airway obstruction) and to remove a mass from his flank. We were referred to a private animal hospital that quoted a price that would have been impossible for me to pay as a single mother of two. I contacted Pet Assistance, Inc. and dealt with Ruth. She was quick to respond to my e-mail, very helpful and friendly. Ruth found me a great local pet hospital and actually called the hospital for me, got me a contact name and very reasonable pricing (less than a third of what the private hospital had quoted us). It was a great experience. It's stressful to know your pet needs surgery but even more stressful to realize you can't afford to get your pet the surgery s/he needs. I'm extremely grateful Pet Assistance, Inc. was there to make sure my dog could receive the surgery he needed.
The vet told me my dog, Sophie, needed surgery for bladder stones costing $794. With financial constraints this was more than I could pay. I found Pet Assistance and they were an absolute Godsend! I emailed Ruth, who got back to me immediately. By day’s end payment arrangements were made and the next day the vet was paid the donated money. They were so easy to work with and were a miracle when I needed one! Below us a picture of Sophie and the stones that were removed. Ruth even followed up to see how Sophie was doing and to see if she could help me find an effective, less costly dog food. She is a true animal lover! Make sure you contact them first!
Hello all who visit. My name is Treva and my fur baby of 13 years is Kidu. Kidu developed a fatty tumor in Ocotober 2017. The tumor was small at first and I thought nothing of it. In December it grew to a noticeable size. Before long I decided to have it drained , it grew even larger. After the third time of draining and significant signs of discomfort and loosing interest in play, i sought treatment to remove this now tumor was the size of a basketball. The cost was way over what my fixed income could afford. Lucky for me , after research i found the Pet Assistance and the were generous donation allowed me to follow thru with surgery. Kidu is up and running for his ball and has fully recovered. in a couple of months his hair will be grown over to hide his scare.
Thank you so much to Pet Assistance for helping to keep Kidu healthy for the remainder of a long lived, much loved and a huge part of my life. Words really cant express my gratitude.
My kitty had MEGA COLON which is a blocked colon and deadly and was told him was the worst eve r seen by 3 different vets! They tried to convince me to put him down! But my kitty named Bear, started rubbing and being overly affectiontate to even the vets and strangers as if he was telling us to please don't give up on me and help me! Luckily no underlying disease was to blame but likely his long hair and lack of drinking water, wet and healthier food to blame. He underwent 2 different invasive enemas, one vet tried to manually evacuate the impacted stool and was on many medications. These 2 different visits cost over $1200 but didn't work! He then after I cried and begged the vet to please try referred us to a vet surgeon whom had to go in and surgically removed most of his colon but he is now doing so good and remained cuddly and seems so appreciative to have his life saved and pain relieved! I am a disabled alone low income woman and some friends helped but Pet Assistance also paid off one of my balances due and with ease and graciousness! Bear and I can not thank them enough to save his precious life and to add unconditional love this lonely alone woman and give meaning to my life!
My dog max had to have his eye removed due to trauma he endured. I thought with the cost we were given of over $2600 we would have to surrender Max. After research I found Pet Assistance. They responded right away and also helped me find a vet who was not over charging me for the procedure. When Max had his surgery Pets Assistance was on vacation. They took time out of their vacation to help my Max. Thanks to Pet Assistance they helped me with saving Max.
What a great organization. My loving and energic cat, Bron, needed a leg amputation after suffering a severe brake. I am battling cancer, enduring 6 cycles of chemotherapy treatments and financially struggling as a result. I needed help, pet Assistance was there in many ways. Ruth’s knowledge and ability to give many options to save was greatly appreciated. She showed compassion and was quick to respond. I am extremely grateful for all the assistance. Bron has played a huge role in my emotional healing after treatments and without the help from Pet Assistance that would not be possible. He has made a huge recovery in such a short time. A huge thank you to Ruth and Pet Assistance, they helped save my loving tripod.
Abbey, my 10 year old female Chihuahua was in desperate need of dental care. The procedure requires giving the dog anesthesia. Needless to say, it's very expensive. I'm a senior citizen and my only income comes from Social Security. I didn't have the money to take care of Abbey’s medical needs and was referred to Pet Assistance, who helped considerably with the cost of her dental surgery. If it wasn't for their help, I'm not sure what I'd do or how I would have gotten this taken care of. Thank you to all who support this organization! You unknowingly are Angels to animals you've never met. Thank you Pet Assistance, Inc. for your generosity.
Sincerely,
Myra P.
I just wanted to tell everyone what a great service this organization performs. In an emergency they helped my dog get treatment she desperately needed at a time we couldn't afford the vet bill. They also helped out my cat when he had issues. Real lifesavers.
Indiana “Bones” is our sweet and lovable 6-year-old pit bull/lab mix. He is the best buddy of our four boys, all under the age of ten. What started out as a small lump in the bottom left side of Indy’s mouth quickly grew to a large tumor that was affecting his quality of life. The tumor did not allow him to close his mouth, eat crunchy dog food, or even want to be around our boys anymore. After finding out the tumor had to be removed, along with almost half of his bottom left jaw, we reached out to Pet Assistance, Inc. This incredible non-profit was able to provide assistance to our family to have Indy’s surgery done. 2 weeks later, he is doing so well! We are eternally grateful.
30 years ago I appeared on the doorstep of Ruth Pearl's home in New Rochelle. My family was looking to adopt some kitties, and we found Martha, a beautiful tortoise tabby.
Beyond adopting Martha, we were all astonished by Ruth's home which was devoted to animals full force. Consequently, years after Pet Assistance's relocation to New Preston, and my relocation to Seattle, I continue to contribute to Ruth's marvelous organization twice annually. Please support Ruth's intelligent and humane values and her wonderful animal sanctuary. Nina Shilling
A few years ago I made a career change and became involved in bettering animal nutrition for dogs ,cats and small animals. With this change I met many new and interesting individuals. Special people who are dedicated, compassionate and considerate towards the well being of animals. One of them is Ruth of Pet Assistance Inc.. I consider Ruth not only all of the above, but a good friend who I cherish and admire for her knowledge and devotion to helping animals and their owners in need of medical attention. I have read many stories and messages that pet owners have sent to Ruth thanking her for her help, time, energy and assistance with their animal situations.
I am honored to write these words about Ruth and Pet Assistance Inc.. She has touched many lives, both human and animal. Thank you Ruth for all your devotion.
Your friend,
Patti Freemantle
I will forever be grateful for the Help Pet Assistance gave to my family. My Cujo was not recovering from a accident we thought was a pulled muscle. He had been on reduced activity for 3 months and no signs of improvement. He loves LOVES his walks. X-Rays were needed to at least give us a idea what's wrong. Pet Assistance worked with my Vet and paid for the appointment. Turns out these x-rays and how quickly Pet Assistance made sure things were taken care of saved us valuable time with my boy. His x-rays look suspicious for bone cancer. A fast moving and painful cancer. With the x-rays and medication his pain is now being treated. We have a idea where to go from here. We are no longer wasting these good days we have left with limiting activity and waiting on recovery. But getting out and about and enjoying this time. The Photo is a picture of Cujo getting out and visiting folks and getting plenty of attention from people. The thing he loves the most.
Thank you Pet Assistance for this gift. Without it we would have missed the most important days of his life.
Gratitude and Agape Love,
Vicki and Cujo.
Rigsby needed cancerous mast cells removed and a torn ACL repaired. Pet Assistance, Inc. came to our rescue donating $250 towards this very expensive procedure. The application process was not difficult, and I was amazed how quickly I got the necessary approvals. While Rigsby was under anesthesia I got a call from the vet indicating that they were not comfortable doing the ACL repair. Pet Assistance, Inc. was flexible and allowed me to apply funds at the new hospital, Rigsby's health was always a top priority! I am so very grateful, and amazed by the kindness of people that donate their hard earned money to strangers. Even though it's not their fur baby, these people love animals and will to do anything to give them a good quality of life. Please continue your mission, your generosity is truly saving lives. These are not just pets, they are family! They give us so much in return for our love. Thank you!
I was in a panic when my cat Levi got his tail shut in the door. I tried to pay for his care at the vet by myself but the doctor confirmed the tip of his tail needed to be amputated. I didn't know what to do until I contacted Pet Assistant about my baby Levi. All I knew was i had to help him and Ruth brought a lot of comfort for this pet parent. A few months went by that when I took him to the vet for surgery this morning the doctor said it healed nicely because of the scar tissue. I will always be grateful and will keep you in contact. Thank you.
I called Pet assistance because I am a single income home , mother of four and my new puppy was injured while visiting family 9 hours from home. The vet quoted me $2600 to repair her fracture, which there's no way I could've afforded it, the only other option was to amputate or give her up and I definitely didn't want to do either. Ruth from Pet assistance took time out of her day, called places for cheaper quites and offered $200 of help to my puppy. I couldn't believe how awesome she was to go above and beyond to get my puppy help. If you have any extra money and want to donate to an organization, this is the one! Thanks again Ruth!
I will be forever grateful that Pet Assistance paid for my dog's oral surgery. This is an update on your funds' recipient, Buster, He is healing wonderfully! In fact, this is the first week he has acted more like his old self in two months. Playful, awake most of the day, tail wagging, and eating better.
We want to thank you again, wholeheartedly!!! Michele and Buster
Ruth Pearl who is the heart of this compassionate and quite helpful organization gave my 11 year old cat Lloyd and I prompt help and was passionate that we received the best of care. Her organization made it possible for my ailing buddy to get blood work done and although we are still not quite sure what is wrong with this feisty fella who has always been a bit fragile physically - as he was tiny rescue kitten who was very ill when we decided to adopt him.
Lloyd was not too fragile however when my daughter was going to put this runny nosed, pinkeye guy with a hernia back into his cage - he puffed up to as large as possible and made a huge cat cry, "No. .. not back in the cage please." Needless to say his fighting spirit and what we felt plea to come home with us won the day. Since that he has been such a delight that we have an expression in initials now. L.A.L which is short for "Look at Lloyd."
Whatever was troubling him is slowly being resolved . Without Pet Assistance w ewould not have been able to take that first step with the blood work paid. And Ruth 's patient guidance and generous contribution to me as I am on disability was helpful on so many levels. It s so hard when a pet one loves is ill and Pet Assistance made us the three of us - my daughter, kitty and I feel supported and less alone during a frightening time . THANK U!! Pamela. Lloyd & Aimee
My cat fell on his head while making a break for it as I was attempting a flea bath, he ended up fracturing his jaw and I was told he either needed the surgery or I would have to have him put down. I searched all over for someone so could help since I couldn't afford the surgery myself and this organization was the only one willing or able to help us. I recommend them to anyone who needs help and can't find it
My little girl Amethyst has ASTHMA,GLAUCOMA,DIABETES. She needed EYE SURGERY to save her sight. I was $200 short for her much needed eye surgery. I contacted Pet Assistance Inc. and they went above and beyond to make sure I had that $200 Thank you RUTH and Pet Assistance, Inc!!!!! A picture of Amethyst all healed!!
I want to thank Pet Assistance for their help in getting Dottie's teeth fixed. I adopted Dottie a few years back. She is now about 9 years old. Her teeth were badly infected, she was in terrible pain and needed eight extractions. I could not afford this costly procedure. Dottie is now free from the gum infection and pain that goes with bad teeth. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
This non-profit contributed $150 to diagnosis procedures for my dog Kahuna. The application process and approval was fast. Many places will not contribute to diagnostic procedures, and these can be very expensive- our bill came to over $1800 in the end over $1500 just for the main procedure. Kahuna was diagnosed with transitional cell nasal carcinoma. Unfortunately it is pretty advanced and for us Chemo is not an option. The diagnostic procedure somehow has seemed to really help lesson his nose bleeds- at least for now. This is why we were looking for help. He had the worst nose bleeds occurring, sometimes unstoppable for over an hour. We were afraid he was going to die from loss of blood. I am very thankful for the help they were willing to give, it wasn't much but it slightly lessened the burden. And they were the only ones I could find to help in general. The only thing that needs improvement is the process to receive donation. It was a little bit of a hassle and living on opposite coasts did not help. Part of it was issues on the facilities part. When you're already stressed complications like this just add to it though. None the less their help was greatly appreciated. It helped to give me more time with my dog, which I greatly appreciate. His cancer is considered terminal but I am thankful for every additional day we get. It has been since February and right now he is doing okay. I am praying for the best.
Our Lilly had a very serioserious diagnosis of open pylometra, she was on here way out. The night before thanksgiving our 8 yr old Chihuahua became non responsive after a long week of antibiotics and force feeding her she looked to have given up, my husband came home from work and forced her to take water and cream of chicken soup by syringe, myself and our daughters told him he was only hurting her he said this is my dog and I'm not giving up on her. Thanksgiving morning Lilly woke with bright eyes and wàs eatineating and drinking on her own and even playing. So while trying to keep thanksgiving from falling apart, I hoped on the internet and the Pet fund came up, there was a phone number, but I thought for sure I would get a voice mail. To my surprise an angel answered the phone she gave us a miracle within an hr she had donated 380 dollars for a life saving surgery that I truly believe that without, our little Lilly would have died. Thank you so much for helping our family on the holiday, while keeping your own holiday together.
While I have been fortunate enough not to have to utilize the generous services of Pet Assistance myself, I can tell you about the woman who runs it. A number of years ago, while working as an animal control officer, I happened to run into her after moving into her neighborhood. While our dogs investigated one another, we began to chat and I was (and continue to be) amazed at her knowledge of animal health care and behavior. We still get together to hike our dogs, and I can tell you even while deep in the woods her phone continually rings with calls from all over the country. She answers every one. I have to admire her continued dedication even though some of these calls are truly heartbreaking. On a more personal note, when my goat was attacked by a German Shepherd, she helped me nurse him to recovery. As this occurred during a cold winter, she made an area for him IN HER KITCHEN. Now how many people do you know who would go so far to help an animal pal in need?
I have a Great Dane named Mya, who needed to have her toe amputated due to cancer. Pet Assistance, Inc gave $100 gift towards her surgery. It mean so much to me to have them help like they did. Ruth is a wonderful woman. She has emailed to see Mya is doing which means a lot to me. This organization really cares about the welfare of our pets and understands that they are not just pets but our family. I will be keeping Ruth posted about Mya until her stitches and bandages come off. It took a while but she got used to the cone. The biopsy report came back and the cancer is not malignant. Once again thank you to Pet Assistance, Inc and Ruth for the wonderful things they do.
Pet Assistance Inc. contributed $100 for physical therapy needed for Molly, my mother in law's dog. The owner of Molly is 78 and woke up to find her dog dragging herself with paralyzed back legs one day. She had emergency surgery and that depleted her funds, as she is living on fixed income. The post op therapy is needed to get Molly walking again. Ruth at Pet Assistance is super at her job and very concerned with the welfare of animals. She came to help us in this situation and now Molly's future is looking brighter. She has a way to go but the doctors are optimistic. Thanks so much to Pet Assistance for responding quickly and keeping in close contact regarding the care of Molly. Thanks guys so much! More places like this are much needed for emergency care in dogs whose owners can not afford the care. They really came to the rescue! Ruth is very caring and compassionate to dogs!
I like to give my gratitude to Pet Assistance. If it was not for them, my pet Polo would not have gotten the help he needed. Pet Assistance Inc. pointed me in the right direction when no one else did. They even helped me with some of the cost. It gives me great relief to know some people do care and are willing to help others. The sad part is, Pet Assistance is limited to how many people and their pets they can help due to limited funding. Shamrock, a just turned 12 year old Springer Spaniel and just the sweetest baby, was originally rescued from Hurricane Katrina with her sister, Clover. After waiting 18 months to see if their family would be found, I was finally able to adopt them. I took extra care with their health. Clover was the healthy one, but Shamrock always had something: stomach issues, cherry eye, small benign tumors. But even being diligent and getting regular health check-ups didn't prevent her sister Clover from dying in 2015 from liver cancer. So I now I have Shamrock and watch her carefully but even all that couldn't have prepared me for her bleeding from the mouth. An emergency vet visit resulted in her needing surgery to remove a lump the size of a tootsie roll pop from the back of her tongue. Problem was she was diagnosed on a Saturday and operated first thing Monday morning, so most places that might have helped with the financial situation said no because the surgery had already happened. But not Ruth at Pet Assistance, Inc.! She was willing to consider my predicament! Now since the surgery, other issues have cropped up and of course the vet wants his payment. Ruth understood the difficulty and came to my aid for Shamrock. I see Shamrock getting better every day and cannot thank Ruth enough for helping me give her a treatments so she has a chance to live. It is hard when an animal’s life hangs in the balance based on finances. Mine are so limited now due to Social Security which barely covers regular expenses and increases in Medicare take a big bite out of that. I once was a writer and editor by trade but with everyone using the internet, the services I provided are readily available all over the net and the books I have written get lost in the millions now available. Thanks to Ruth and her Pet Assistance Inc. Shamrock has gotten treatment and I am not in the financial dog house for the rest of my life!
I am forever grateful to this wondeful nonprofit for helping to save my cat, Gibbs! No one else seemed much interested, but Pet Assistance, Inc was there for me. Not only did they send financial support, but they sent emotional support and advice that helped me. I just hope one day soon I will be able to return the favor! Thank you so much!
Pet Assistance helped me and Buddy at the time we needed help. Buddy pulled away from me when we were walking and got hit by a school bus. I spent all my money at the emergency overnight and Pet Assistance helped pay for his follow up care. He is doing better. Thank you Pet Assistance for helping me and Buddy.
I have the privilege of volunteering with this organization. Ruth has an obvious love of animals and offers help to many in need. The stories behind some of the cats and dogs are heartbreaking and it is wonderful that Pet Assistance is able to help.
I cannot thank Pet Assistance enough for the help with my dog, Zoe. She had a growth that rapidly grew and needed to be removed. Ruth responded to my email right away and helped me with information as well as for paying for the very expensive surgery. I don't know what I would've done without them.
Pet Assistance Inc helped my family and I when our dog Moose broke his leg. They were friendly and replied to my application extremely quickly! Also, every time I needed to communicate with them about something they would get back to me within a couple hours, if not sooner! This is an amazing organization and I don't know what we would have done without their help! Thank you so much Pet Assistance Inc!!!
My cat Ally whom I've had for 12 years, was diagnosed with diabetes in August of this year. It just out of the blue, she started losing weight rapidly and acting strangely. She drank water like she couldn't get enough and hid in my back bathroom from everyone. She bearly ate and quit grooming herself. A vet that could get us in on short notice told me it was a UTI and medicated her, but she didn't recover so I took her to our family vet who worked hard to
squeeze us in. Our veterinarian told me she had diabetes and had to do several tests to look for any kidney or pancreas damage among other things. I suffered a stroke 8 years ago this month and have been on disability since. When I first started rescuing animals, I had a wonderful job and didn't fear the unexpected. I desperately needed some help with these tests. I couldn't fathom putting my sweet Ally to sleep because she was diabetic and I wasn't able to provide all she needed right away. I too am diabetic so our strong bond....had new glue. I sat up all night long searching the internet for help and I found Pet Assistance Inc. I wrote a letter and they answered my plea for help right away. They had me fill out the application and send pictures of my sweet girl. We talked about the details of the testing, my love of my furry children, and several other things. They were truly interested my my Ally. Well, they approved us and went through my veterinarian to set everything up. Ally is back to her old self again. Gaining weight, socializing, playing and taking her shots like a trooper. Pet Assistance Inc saved her life. They gave us both a new start and saved me from having to say goodbye to this vibrant girl. I just can't thank them enough.

Our dog Scooter had a mammary tumor that was growing rapidly. Surgery was her only hope. I searched and searched for help for our baby girl. She has been with us almost 13 years. As i searched locally for assistance, and after many "no's" I emailed Pet Assistance. Ruth contacted me and there help saved our dogs life. Ruth got in touch with the veterinary and agreed to help. It was amazing after searching for so long, the quickness in which Ruth responded. It is because of Pet Assistance that our Scooter was able to get her surgery. Ruth even talked with the vet and we are now paying off the bill at $25 a month. There is no way we could of afforded the surgery, and after it was done, it was quite a bit more than we though it was going to be. I spoke with Ruth on the phone. I didn't realize it was 10:30 at night (her time) but not only did she help, she paid more that the original ammount she said she could help us with. Just talking with her helped us at this very scary time. Scooter is now healed from her surgery and doing very well. If not for the kindness she showed, I fear Scooter would not be with us now. This is an amazing organization and I urge anyone who can, to donate to Pet Assistance. They really do help and they were a light in our darkness and we will be forever grateful, Ruth and Jim
My male cat Rufuss had a bad ear infection and hematoma on one of his ears. I didn't have much money to get him into the veterinarian. After some research and many applications, I finally found Pet Assistance Inc. They helped pay the portion of the vet bill that I couldn't cover. They definitely deserve the public's support. There are so many families out there that are unable to get their beloved pets to see the veterinarian. I myself am working on donating as much as I can to give back to the people that so graciously helped get our baby boy Rufuss back to good health.
Thanks to Pet Assistance Inc, Rufuss is completely healed up and back to his old self. Thank you all for everything you do!
Please donate to this charity. They not only helped me financially they offered moral support. Ruth got my itemized bill for my dogs surgery and made suggestions to trim it. She was there every step of the way.
My dog Chico was diagnosed with bladder stones and required surgery to remove them. I contacted Pet Assistance, Inc. They responded very quickly and helped me with the surgery. Chico is now doing very well. I am forever grateful for their assistance. Please donate to this great organization so they can help other pets.
Ms. Ruth from pet assistance is such an amazing individual! I called pet assistance at 6 am on July 4th when my precious dog coco was in labor and had an puppy stuck in her birth canal. Even with it being so early Ruth helped me look for places that would help and provided assistance when I needed it. My dog ended up losing her puppies but not her life. I am forever greatfull for her help and for helping me remain calm durinf the emergency. My dog coco is very dear to my heart and I don't know what I would have done if I would have lost her. Thanks to Ms. RI think I won't have to find out.
I will be forever grateful to Pet Assistance, Inc. My mom is trying to support herself, her animals, and my sister and her two kids, with no job (she is in the very long process of getting disability, for she can no longer work). I give any spare money I get to them, to help them get by. Our family is very emotionally attached to our animals and have a lot of love for them. Our dog Josie had a tumor that was growing very quickly, she could barely walk or anything. It was the size of a football when it was removed. I could only pay for half of the surgery, and Pet Assistance, Inc was amazing enough to help with the other half. Please donate to this heart-filled and amazing company. I know I will be, when I get better situated.
Awesome!! Amazing! They were willing to help me in my time of need!! Ruth is a very awesome person, she very helpful and friendly!!
I'm quite isolated, due to being disabled. Luckily, I have my dog Tank! He is my constant companion. When I received the estimate for his surgery, and it was several hundred dollars above my monthly disability income, I reached out to every organization I could find. I was shocked when I called Pet Assistance Inc., and a HUMAN BEING answered the phone! Sometimes it's difficult for me to ask for help, but I was treated with the utmost respect! Ruth is SO knowledgeable! She understood the severity of Tank's condition, and immediately offered to help! Tank was able to have his surgery, and is recovering well! This would not have been possible, if not for Pet Assistance Inc., and it's donors!
Deepest Gratitude,
Angie
I wanted to thank Pet Assistance Inc for their assistance in getting my parents dog, Sugar Baby’s tumor removed from her chest. The tumor was continually getting larger and without Pet Assistance Inc help, they could not afford to help Sugar Baby. When I called Pet Assistance Inc., Ruth welcomed me with open arms and truly wanted to help. My family will be forever grateful for the help they gave and for the many years of happiness Sugar Baby will bring to my family. Thanks again.
I cant thank Miss Ruth enough for stepping in and helping my dog Vega. Vega is a dog we rescued from the streets, she had a hard life. She was diagnosed with stage 4 heart worm. And we have been doing the slow kill method on Vega , On 7-15-2016 I seen that Vega breathing was very labored and she just did not look good. SO we rushed her to the vets. I am on disability I had enough money for the visit . The dr came in and diagnosed Vega with a bad lung infection , and the antibiotics that Vega would need were very expensive. But this medicine would be the only way to get Vega better. I was frantic because I new I could not afford these meds and Vega would just get worse. I started looking on the internet and came across Miss Ruth , and explained to her Vega situation , not to long after Miss Ruth called me back and told me she would help Vega , I couldn't have been more happy , I cant thank Miss Ruth enough for stepping in and helping Vega, with out here I dont know what I would have done, or what would have happened with Vega. Vega is feeling much better after getting the medication she needed . Again thank you Miss Ruth :)
my yellow lab gidget had two life threating tumor's that would have taken her life if it wasn't for ruth at pet assistance. thank you for saving part of the family.
I am ever grateful to Ruth for helping my beloved Earle get the surgery he needed.
Ruth contacted me quickly, was available to speak, seemed experienced in assessing the situation, gave me good advice, and was willing to help. Thank you Pet Assistance Inc., and Ruth.
This is Sapphira my 8 year old Siberian husky furbaby last night she was admitted for emergency life threatening removal of an egg sized bladder stone. Surgery cost $2600 I was referred to several foundations some very very well known to which I will write my own review to them separately. I live in CA Ruth lives in CT, SHE was to my amazement the ONLY person who reached out to me and treated me like a person in need NOT applicant "#25".....she called me through out the day to see how my baby was doing and also was able to refer me to other great foundations. Thank you Ruth for not losing sight of the TRUE reasons for such foundations as yours the NEEDS OF THE BABIES!
INCREDIBLE !!! I searched the entire internet for assistance to help us get the surgery that our pet Annie needed, and only " 1 " on the entire internet would help us. The rest of them would only help certain kinds of dogs. Aren't all dogs precious? Ruth Pearl helped us with no questions asked and now our dog Annie is healthy and living a wonderful life. God Bless Ruth and Pet Assistance, inc.
I am so thankful to Ms Ruth and Pet Assistance Inc. My 7 year old Mastiff mix had torn her other ACL. 1st ACL surgery was 11/2014. With the Pet Assistance contribution to my Sadie's surgery, we were able to get it done this week 4/19 with great success. This is a wonderful non profit organization that without them, I would not have known whet to do!!
Sadie is on the mend and doing great!
Thank you Pet Assistance Inc!!!!
I cannot express how grateful I am for Ruth and Pet Assistance. My baby (Dog), began to have trouble urinating on a weekend. I got him into a vet, to find out he had bladder stones and needed immediate surgery or he would not make it. The amount of the surgery was way beyond my means, and the only other option was euthanization. I was told to go home and think it over, say my goodbyes if no other option, and then contact them back. I was able to contact Ruth who, not only talked to me like a human being with care and compassion, but she also was able to help towards his remaining medical care, and even had other organizations to contact to help towards it as well. She has kept in contact to check on my fur baby, and he and I are so grateful for her and this organization.
Thank you Ruth and Pet Assistance for giving me and Bubby the support so that he can live longer with me and that I did not have to make the devastating decision to chose between medical care or death for him. You are truly an Angel and I cannot say thank you enough. I am hoping one day to pay this forward and be able to donate so that others may be helped as well.
My rabbit recently stopped eating due to some teeth issues. I didn't have the money so I researched getting some help. Ruth called me the next day and said they could help. You have no idea the relief I felt. my animal is my baby!!:-)
I want to thank Ruth/ Pet Assistance very much for helping me and my fur baby threw a very hard time. If there is anyone out there that cares it's them!!!!! I again must thank you very much!!!

In New Year's Eve my dog got hit by a car and was put in the pound went to pick him up and told me to get him out will be $800 which included medical expenses... I have 3 lil kids and my wife does not work made it very difficult to even get my dog out, but anything to save my dog would have been helpful well thanks to the vet I took him I was recommended to look into pet assistance in. They came to the rescue and helped with anything they could now my dog Chico is at home with us thanks
I am extremely grateful for the help that Pet Assistance Inc has provided for my dog Lola. Lola needed an emergency procedure on her leg and I could not afford it financially. I didn't know what I was going to do. I went online to look for any options for assistance and Ruth called me immediately. She calmed my worries and gave me some very helpful advice. She also helped me with half of the vet bill. Because of Ruth, Lola was able to get the emergency care that she desperately needed and is now on the road to recovery. Ruth was definitely a God send and I am looking forward to paying this forward as soon as I am financially able to do so.
We are so very grateful for the assistance we received from Pet Assistance Inc. Because of Ruth's wonderful organization, we were able to get my cat Cooper the lifesaving treatment he needed. I don't know what we could have done without them. A thousand times... Thank you, Pet Assistance Inc.
It took me two days to realize that my sweet "gentle giant" brown tabby named Jackson wasn't urinating. It was later in the evening in San Diego when I emailed Pet Assistance, since I was worried about him and in a major financial bind. Not only did I get a call from Ruth at Pet Assistance right away, but she advised me to get Jackson to a vet immediately. I quickly picked up on her concern and that she truly cared. I was able to find a vet that was open after normal business hours, had him checked out, they performed what they needed to get done for him, gave me his medication and Ruth with Pet Assistance took care of the rest so I could focus on getting him better. I cannot begin to express the relief of finding such a valuable non-profit. It is a terrible feeling with your fur baby isn't doing well and you do not have the money to get them the help that they need. And my older ginger cat who is also having health issues would miss his warm snuggles every night. So far he is healing well and Ruth has checked in asking how he is doing several times. I will forever be grateful for the love and generous support that they provided. Not only will I be donating to their non-profit once I am able to, but I highly recommend that anyone else who is considering donating choose this organization.
Good evening,
My name is Kevin Bonneville and I wanted to tell everyone how great Pet Assistance Inc., has been to our beloved and beautiful Zeus. Zeus is a 3 year old Rottweiler who has had Addison's Disease for 2 years, and is newly diagnosed with Diabetes.
Pet Assistance helped Zeus with his medical expenses and we are just so amazingly gracious for the grant that Ruth provided.
I hope that when I am in the position to do so, I can offer a donation so other companion animals may have Pet Assistance as well.
Thank you for helping Zeus recover and feel better. We love him and cannot imagine life without our "sweet boy."
This organization and Ruth were unbelievable in my time of need. Not only was the application process understandable but the contact with a live person, Ruth, was excellent. While waiting for the surgery date she helped me find other organizations that could assist. Not only that she was a wealth of knowledge when asking me about the vet and his practice and what to look for and what costs are necessary and were not. She was with me from the beginning to the end. Without her my baby boy Elvis the Rat Terrier would not be on his way to a full recovery and a long life. He still has his cone on and is refusing to let that stop him from trying to play fetch or even soccer. THANK YOU SO MUCH
It still hurts my heart to think that without this wonderful organization, our Sammy would not be with us today. Just before Christmas 2015, he became lethargic and seriously ill; upon examination, it was discovered that he had an intestinal blockage and pancreatitis (caused by blockage). Sammy needed emergency surgery, but we just didn’t have the money to spare. If it had not been for Pet Assistance, we would have had no choice but to humanely euthanize my young canine friend.
A HUGE thank you to Ruth and Pet Assistance, Inc. for your support, for giving us a future with Sam & for enabling a lifelong friendship for these two (picture of Parker & Sammy heading out for a hike). May your charity be as blessed as those whom you have served!
Thank you, Pet Assistance Inc. for helping me pay for surgery for my cat, Gar!
Gar had chronic urethral blockage and needed perineal urethrostomy surgery, but after pouring all of my savings into Gar's emergency medical costs before the surgery, I didn't know how I was going to finance Gar's life-saving care. Pet Assistance Inc. helped me with Gar's surgery bill and now the stress over payment is one less major worry as my boy recovers. Ruth Krebs, the company agent I've been in contact with, has been supportive 100% of the way, and has even been concerned with following up on Gar's recovery! I've never been so touched by and impressed with a charity's involvement in a benefactor's well-being.

This is such a great charity. They helped me with the surgery cost on my cat Barkley. He fractured his left femoral head on his back leg. If it wasn't for Pet Assistance Inc. I could not have came up with enough money for it. I would recommend anyone to donate what they can to this charity. My family can't thank them enough for the help. As I can I am going to donate to this charity so they can help other families with pets.

I highly recommend Pet AssistanceInc. as it gives practical, compassionate and KNOWLEDGEABLE guidance to pet owners who feel they have no alternatives other than to go to expensive franchise clinics and large corporate
owned hospitals. The guidance one receives from this organization is priceless. They truly care, they help in whatever way is possible for both the animal and their loving owners.

Ruth Pearl you are an angle ,thanks to you and the foundation Pet Assistance, my dads loyal companion Boogers, now has a second change at life.
Boogers electrocuted himself after biting an electrical cord in half, we had no way of paying for his medical treatment ,he was unable to eat or drink on his own and his mouth had a very foul smell. I took him to BANDFIEL HOSPITAL because I got a coupon for a free exam, well he was there 24 hours and the only thing the would tell me was that it would be 800.00+ dollars to begin treatment ,they held Boogers hostage for 180.00 for treatment he didn't receive until a call was made from Pet Assiance and he was released . and I took boogers to an awesdome vet that Ruth Pearl, herself, called to see what Pet Assistance could do to ensure the wellbeing of boogers AND IS IN CONSTANT CONTAct whith me and the doctor.Pet Assistance is God sent!I prayed for help and I received it !!!! this is an organization that really carts about your pet but they also care about the pets parents and they have given me back my faith in humanity!!!

Pet Assistance, Inc is absolutely amazing! I had come to the unfortunate realization that my dog Matty had gotten in to the neighbors trash, ending up with a turkey bone lodged in his throat. :/ He was in quite a bit of pain.... I am a single mom who just spent all I had on Christmas gifts for my son. Pet Assistance, Inc showed wonderful patience and tremendous care for my family through such a difficult time. Matty is doing wonderful after going through an endoscopy to remove the turkey bone, he was blessed with a second chance at life! And my family is blessed to have him with us for the holidays. I don't know what I would do with out him! Thank you Pet Assistance, Inc for all that you do!!!!!

Pet Assistance Inc is absolutely wonderful! They assisted me with diagnostic testing for my border collie when no one else would. My dog was exhibiting symptoms of a UTI or possible bladder stones and she needed a urinalysis and x-ray. Pet Assistance stepped forward to assist me immediately and got my precious pup the care she needed. Absolute angels! I am so thankful for this organization!

This from a satisfied client. My lab-mix Riley, & I, a retired 'old guy', live in the mountains of So California. Lots of things can go wrong for dogs up here. Ruth came through "big time" for us. Riley had been suffering for 3 months, with no significant results, despite standard vet care. Very quickly, a plan was hatched for surgery. Long story short, I didn't have the money & could not foresee when I would. When needed, Ruth stepped up with a generous donation which made it all possible. Quick, efficient & most of all, caring. Providing help when needed. How else do you rate a charity organization, but on results? This one is a winner!!! Gratefully, Riley & Jerry

The help pet assistance provided our family is priceless! Their assistance made it possible for us to provide the care our pup needed to keep her in our lives happy and healthy! Ruth is compassionate, caring, patient, and kind. Thank you for taking the time to get to know our family (our pup, Brooklyn, is a loving family member). We sincerely appreciate your support, and generosity during a difficult time. We are forever grateful. Your caring emails and phone calls to check on Brooklyn after her surgery made us feel special. Ruth treated us as if we were family. Ruth and Pet Assistance are forever a part of our family!

I have nothing but praise and gratitude for Pet Assistance Inc. Our dog Carlo had an urgent need to be seen by a veterinarian after a cyst ruptured and caused a rapid infection. After speaking to Ruth by phone and explaining our situation, she was able to get us the help we needed to get him timely care. He received antibiotics and thanks to Pet Assistance our beloved boy is on the mend.

My neighbors dog Mojo got attacked by another dog, he had taken him to the vet where Mojo needed staples in his head. His owner was able to pay for the staples, the pain meds and antibiotics, But failed to get a cone for the dog. The next day Mojo had gotten all of the staples out of his head and when I saw it, It was already getting infected. Because the gash was so big I thought he would need to get it re stapled but his owner couldn't afford it and neither could I. I offered to take the dog so he could heal at my house and get his meds twice a day and I bought a cone for him, and I started looking into organizations that could help get the staples put back in when I got an email back from pet assistance Ruth was very helpful! and gave me a lot of great advice. Mojo ended up healing just fine without needing the staples again. thanks to all the great advice I received Mojo is 100% healed up and doing better than ever! thank you Ruth!

Our 7 year old dog Cooper recently fell ill. We took him to a vet who did an X-ray which revealed he either had a large tumor or had eaten a foreign object that was lodged. We were told that the next step would require an MRI just to diagnose the problem. The costs for just that (without even knowing what the next step would involve were in the thousands). My husband had been recently laid off and with 4 children we just could afford it. I called almost 20 different places for help and no one would offer any type of assistance. My last "Hail Mary" call was to Ruth at Pet Assistance. Not only was she willing to help me financially, but she found a Veterinarian who was also willing to help. Ruth being the caring person that she is, met me at the Vets office and helped walk me through everything and continues to follow up with us. Because of her and Pet Assistance, Cooper is doing well and back to his old self. Without them I really don't know what we would have done! I'm so grateful for everything she's done!

Dakota, my best friend and rescuer, has suffered an immense amount in his life. I adopted him from a local rescue that rescued him from being locked in a bedroom of an abandoned house. He had physical deformities and, due to the gross negligence of the rescue itself, was a very sick boy. When I picked him up, he had kennel cough so badly that he was near death. We spent the first six months of our relationship on the living room floor together as I stayed with him, comforting him as his body battled violently. Needless to say, a strong bond developed. Once recovered, Dakota, who is a chocolate lab, turned out to be the most fun-loving, loyal, and entertaining dog. Little did I know, the tables were about to turn. A couple years later, I became ill and near death myself. It was Dakota who then became my rescuer, getting me up to eat and take meds. when I couldn't get up on my own, and tenderly offering companionship by my side. I owe my life to my friend. Later in life, Dakota developed fear aggression that was aggravated by becoming epileptic. After working with many trainers and getting him on the right dosage of seizure meds., he is much better but, can be unpredictable due to the seizures. Later still in his life, he suddenly went lame in one leg. Upon several examinations, it was determined that his entire knee had disintegrated and the tendons around it were torn. The surgery was more costly than i could afford. We are preparing for surgery now thanks to Pet Assistance who offered to help that last portion of what needed to be raised. Most other assistance organizations could not help him either due to lack of funds or because Dakota has multiple issues. It is heartbreaking not being able to help your very best friend. Thanks to Pet Assistance I will be able to get Dakota's much needed surgery and give him the rest of his life pain free. I couldn't be more overjoyed and thankful!

Rapheal is our boy our protector and our best friend. He was just having a normal day until he was digging and I am guessing a brown recluse bit him on his private area. We took him to Applewood and they were so swollen that we had to come back a week later he was on 3 antibotics. After about a week we thought he would be better but the infection was opened and started bleeding and he started crying in pain so we decided to take him to the emergency clinic and they were gonna hospitalize him for 1000 dollars but we couldnt afford it so we had to take the less expensive treatment and bandage it and give him a pain med until the morning to see the daytime vet well thats what we did. We brought him in today and they took him for emergency castration surgery. We could of had very severe consequences if it wasnt treated but with this wonderful charity they helped us get him healed. Yall are such beautiful angels and when I get on my feet I will donate back to this charity. Words cannot explain how thankful I am to get help from your organization. We love you and cherish you Fawn n Will

My beautiful boy, Simon, developed a urinary blockage, and had to have an emergency catherization. Of course this had to happen on the weekend, after all regular vet offices were closed in my area. The only place open was the ER facility. The prices are about double the usual rates. I didn't have the money to pay for the procedure, and they don't offer payment plans. I was getting desperate, as Simon's condition worsened. I spent hours trying to get help with phone calls, and internet applications. Frantic, crying, and desperate, I found Pet Assistance. I called, and a wonderful woman named Ruth answered.
I was expecting an answering machine, and was surprised to get an actual person. Ruth asked some questions, and verified my information. In less then 30 minutes she spoke to the ER staff, and arranged payment for my cat's procedure. During the next few days she gave me advice, and inquiried about Simon. Ruth and Pet Assistance, literally, saved my cats life. The vet said he wouldnt have made it to morning without the catherization. I am so grateful to Ruth and Pet Assistance. They were an answer to my prayers, and because of them I still have my little buddy.
I would like to start of by saying that Ruth is a wonderful and very caring person. I sent an e-mail asking for help with my dachshund named Dino, he is our baby. She was ready to help the minute she called me. Her knowledge and guidance saved us money and took us to the right people to help Dino. Dino had a very large fat tumor on his belly and needed some work on his teeth. Ruth was there for us through all the appointments and still emails and calls to see how Dino is doing after his surgery. Thank you so much we couldn't have done this without you.
Our dog was hit by a car and hurt his leg. We couldn't afford the xrays and medicine he needed and would have had to leave without it. We contacted Pet Assistance Inc and they helped us get the xrays and medicine. We are so grateful to Pet Assistance Inc for caring about our dog and helping us get him the treatment he needed.

Without the help and generosity of Pet Assistance, our beloved cat Tristian would no longer be with us. We will be forever grateful to this organization. Although Tristian is not registered as a companion pet, he is a therapy companion for our young son who has autism and, cognitive awareness disorder. Tristian has now fully recovered and his Vet Doctor says he sees Tristian now living a long and full life. Pet Assistance is one of the most wonderful organizations we have even come to know. Please help spread the word about them on any social network sites you can. They are non-profit so donations are needed to help keep them running. Even if you cannot help, by spreading the word, others may be able to help.

I have a 17mon old Shih-Tzu/Tibetan Spaniel who was diagnosed with Alanto-Axial this a bone based between 2 Vertebrae. Hachi's Neurologist recommended surgery but also wanted us to get a second opinion from UC Davis Vet. We seen UC Davis Vet for small dogs & the same diagnosis was given but was recommended surgery to be done ASAP, with the concern that as constant that Hachi's front paws give in & him falling forward if he were to hit chin or fall bending neck forward this can snap his Vertebrae causing him death. I called Pet Assistance asking for help & explained my little boys issue. I spoke to Ruth, VERY KIND & SWEET who was very kind to help us with a donation directly to UC Davis. I truly believe out of about 30 Organizations I contacted she was the kindness & so concerned for Hachi's well being & him being able to live the life he so well deserves... THEIR ARE NOT ENOUGH WORDS TO DESCRIBE HOW GRATEFUL WE ARE FOR PET ASSISTANCE KIND HELP...

I called Pet Assistance on a weekend not expecting any answer and only to leave a message when I got an answer from a woman named Ruth. I explained that my dog Tootsie a dapple mini dachshund was very sick being seen at the vets in the last two weeks and on antibiotics, prednisone and pain killers for suspected bladder stones. The weekend day my dog Tootsie took at turn for the worse and Ruth suggested that I get the dog to the emergency clinic as soon as possible. I am all alone having recently a massive heart attack and subsequent quadruple bypass surgery. It was very hard for me and Tootsie was my inspiration every morning to grit me through recovery and then rehabilitation. Always willing to be by my side and walk as much as I could never complaining. I brought her to the emergency vet and I was very worried about Tootsie and very worried about the charges after hour vets charge. Ruth was there through all of it with me , she talked yo the staff, and to the vet taking care of Tootsie. She was the friend I needed at this critical time. The vet said after reading the X-rays she had a bladder stone stuck in her urethra. I asked what could be fine and the vet explained she had to remove or get the stone pushed back in the bladder or undergo emergency surgery. I called Ruth and she talked to the vet and she suggested that I approve the vet yo try to free the stone. The procedure was a success and Ruth was there to help pay girl the bill. I font know what I would have done if Ruth was not there for not only emotional support but financial help for Tootsie and I . I have been out of work since my heart operation and had little funds to spend on vet bills. Ruth and Pet Assistance were there to help me through this difficult time. Tootsie subsequently had to have Bladder surgery to remove the stones. Ruth was there throughout the process with not only financial assistance but that support that a friend could give. I am humbled yo know that Ruth and Pet Assistance is there for people and their pets offering financial assistance and compassionate understanding. Tootsie is doing wonderful now, and we both thank Ruth and Pet Assistance from the bottom of our hearts!

Hi, last week my cat was very ill due to a uti, she was lifeless and had a fever of 104.5. My cat seems to get uti's every six months and usually I scrape money together and take her to the vet. This time I had no money to take her to the vet. I looked all the web for programs that offered vet assistance. Each one that I applied to or contacted couldnt help. I took a chance with Pet Assistance Inc. Ruth was like a beacon in the night she called me back and not only helped me but listened to my problems and concerns. Ruth is an angel placed on earth to help those in need. My vet bill was only $22.00 for the antibiotics, but I didn't even have that, Ruth helped me and saved my cat Oodles. Thank you Ruth God bless you, I will never forget what you have done for me.

Ruth is an extremely humble and beautiful woman! She helped my little guy when no one, not even I could. She is full of knowledge, information, kindness and humility. Gafah thanks you Ruth, as do I. You are truly an angel on earth and when we live in a time full of selfish, wicked and self-serving people, you are a reminder that there are still good God-Fearing people left here on earth. You have single handedly restored my faith in humanity. Thank you again so very much!

Ruth Pearl @ Pet Assistance, Inc is truly a guardian angel to animals and families in need. She was there immediately to help me with assistance in the cost of surgery for the removal of a cancerous tumor on my little dog Teyha (means little girl).

There are no words to express how thankful I am for this organization and how well organized and quick responsive they are.
My dog Poofy was having serious trouble breathing one night and after a trip to the animal hospital I wa stood she needed surgery in order to survive. I am a single other who works 2 jobs just to make ends meet and paying for her surgery just wasn't possible. I reached out to several organizations and Ruth was one if the first to respond. She called me and seemed genuinely interested in my little dogs problem and immediately said she could help. Thank you so much for everything! This organization is truly filled with heart!

My cat Zizou had eaten a piece of plastic that tangled around his intestines. He had to have surgery in order for him to survive the next 24hrs. I am a full time student who couldn't afford the surgery. I called many pet organizations but only one actually had a live person on the other end of the phone. A wonder woman named Ruth who was so wonderful not only by sponsoring part of his surgery but also just being there to talk things out with. I can gladly say that Zizou is recovering from his surgery very nicely & has kept his food down and his fever is diminishing. I would definitely recommend this fantastic organization not only for assistance but also a great organization to donate to. I plan to donate part of my summer job income to this great organization & hopefully contribute to another pet lover in need.

(A public thank you to Ruth at Pet Assistance Inc)
Ruth, I can not thank you and Pet Assistance Inc enough. It was an incredibly stressful time, finding out that a very special doggie needed surgery and trying to make it possible. I can not thank you enough for your warmth, your resources, and your generosity. Your contribution went a long way towards making her surgery possible. She had surgery Tuesday evening, was allowed to come home Wednesday evening, has a lot of post-surgical healing to do, but is definitely enjoying being home and having her special post-surgical meals. Without your help, I don't know if it would have been possible. Thank you very very much.
