Mission: NOSHA, INC. was incorporated after operating as an association since August 1999. It provides an opportunity for like-minded people to meet and exchange ideas and to promote to outsiders an awareness of Secular Humanist viewpoints in the community as an alternative to the reliance on supernatural explanations. We were lead sponsors along with several University co-sponsors of Darwin Day 2000 and 2001, commemorating the birthdate of Charles Darwin and his contribution to scientific understanding. We need additional means of bringing the Secular Humanist viewpoint to the large numbers who hold it, but do not know that there are others with whom they can associate. In Louisiana, there is great need to be able to oppose the constant efforts to violate the constitutional separation of church and state.
