Mission: Nesri works in partnership with u. S. Community-based organizations to increase their capacity to build a human rights movement. Nesri focuses on economic and social rights, including education, health, housing and work with dignity.
Programs: Partner campaign support: the national economic & social rights initiative (nesri) supports grassroots partners across the country in local and state campaigns that seek to change structures and systems towards ensuring the economic and social rights of marginalized communities. Our work is in the intersection of the experiential and evidence-based strategies in order to align outcomes with human rights-based values. Nesris successfully supported the 20/20 campaign in baltimore calling for public investment in community land trusts to transform the 40k empty homes in the city into permanently affordable housing. Baltimore has now committed to an initial community land trust pilot as a precursor to the larger 40 million dollar a year investment needed to begin bringing this model to scale city-wide.
