Mission: The medical device innovation consortium (mdic) will bring together the expertise and resources of medical device stakeholders to address strategic and technical issues that affect the medical device industry and the public. The mdic will promote the public health by advancing medical device regulatory science to reduce the time and cost of device development, assessment, and review and advance the safety and effectiveness of medical devices throughout their total product life cycle for the benefit of patients.
Programs: Patient-centered benefit risk (pcbr):establish a credible framework for defining patient preference regarding probable benefits and probable risks of a proposed medical device. Computer
modeling & simulation (cm&s):increase the confidence in safety and efficacy, reduce clinical trial size and accelerate device review through regulatory grade computer models and simulation.
clinical trial innovation & reform (ctir):improve the safety and effectiveness of products being introduced into the market, reduce clinical trial cycle times and costs, and yield earlier access to beneficial innovative technologies for u. S. Patients through innovative new clinical trial designs and methods.
