Just reading Keller and Calamity's website bring me such joy.Not only is it informative, it is heartwarming as well. As a teacher, I love how it shows that even though u might have a handicap, you can still be very sucessful. Such an important lesson for all.
They’re doing an excellent job showing everyone what not to do, very professional teaching us everything about irresponsible breeding results, I’m so happy to found them, now they’re part of my virtual family too, love them
The work Keller S Cause Inc does to educate the community/world on breeding problems is amazing. I have learned so much from their Facebook page. Thank you.
I have two dapple dachshunds, which means they carry the merle gene that makes them so pretty. Keller's Cause has taught me about the dangers of merle-to-merle breeding, but most importantly they have taught me that special needs dogs can live beautiful, safe, and fulfilling lives. Keller and Calamity are trained to do so much that my full-sight full-hearing dogs don't do! Keller's Cause has given me the knowledge to be an advocate for double dapple dogs in the dachshund rescue community.
I don’t have a Double Merle. I don’t even have a dog (...some day). But I’ve been following Keller’s Cause for over a year and I’ve learned so much as a result. The compassionate yet honest Info that this Non-Profit makes available is so often difficult to find. They never expect sympathy or display anger, but rather offer facts and encouragement.
Keller's Cause has raised so much awareness to educate others about double merles. I am amazed by how much time and love is given to the rescued pups by Amanda, Rose and all the other volunteers. I traveled over three and half hours last year to Lancaster, PA to meet and support them all.
Kellers Cause goes above and beyond to educate people about double merles and provide rescue and adoption for these special pups. Their traing videos and posts also help to take the fear away of adopting a deaf/blind pup which opens more homes for them. They are a wonderful organization, one that I follow daily.
Life can be RUFF for Double Merle's! This tremendous group of people do an amazing job of Educating the public on the terrible practices of breeders who either do not care about or do not know the dangers of breeding two merles. Then they go many steps further to help rescue, foster and find forever homes for these gentle puppy souls. And to top it off they show just how amazing these dogs can be despite what some of us would consider major disabilities. Me and my double merle Willow thank them from the bottom of our hearts for the work they do to try to stop this practice. They are a GREAT NonProfit and Angels in my book!
I have been following Keller and Calamity on Social media for about the last 2 years. I have always been impressEd by this non-profit for the incredible job they due at creating breeding awareness and rescuing pups. I love that they focus on the Abilities of visually and hearing impaired dogs , as well as how to train them. I finally had the pleasure of meeting Keller and Calamity at a Dog Expo in Philly! Needless to say, I was even more impressed when I saw them perform in person. This nonprofit has done an amazing job of bringing out the best qualities In every dog they save and ensuring that they find the forever home every dog deserves.

Millions of dog lovers do not know what double merle means. This is the only non profit I have known that is educating people about bad breeding. They have covered so much ground in a short time. Not only the education value, but also showing people that they can live happy lives and do not need to be destroyed. Amanda and Keller and friends are passionate loving and doing great work. I support them and encourage others to do the same.
My Sister rescued a set of Double Merle Australian Shepherd sisters. Needless to say we each fell in love with one. So, with no idea how to teach, train, anything. I found Keller's Cause on Facebook and was almost overwhelmed with the information and support they offered. Never in my life had I known about these dogs and now, thanks to this wonderful organization, as long as one needs a home, I will have one in this house.

My sister sent me a picture of 2 sweet girls sleeping in her kitchen. Ginger and Rosie, Double Merle Australian Shepherds both deaf and vision impaired needed homes. My sister already knew their homes though, as Rosie was to be hers, Ginger was mine. Sisters with Sisters!! I found Keller's Cause not to long after Ginger came home with me. The wealth of information and knowledge I have found!! I am not alone, the love I have for Ginger is felt by others, but most importantly, these pups are fully able to live wonderful lives...Keller's Cause brought that hope to me. Because of them, if a DM needs a home, my home and heart is open for them.
My husband and I tragically lost our first Double Merle Australian Shepherd in May of 2017. After our wedding, we decided that we were going to start our search for another special needs baby to add to our family. We’ve followed Keller’s Cause for quite some time and we’re actively checking their page for available pups. While on our honeymoon, we came across Rocket & Quill, two 8 week old Double Merle babies and we INSTANTLY fell in love with Rocket. We messaged them immediately and they were so helpful and understanding! We completed the whole adoption process by the day we got home from our honeymoon and picked up our new baby a week later!
Being a professional dog trainer, I love the message that Keller’s Cause shares about how Double Merle’s are equally as capable as any other dog. Rocket (now Kal) holds 3 Trick Dog titles and is always on the go! He has truly completed our family and we are forever grateful to Amanda and Rose for all of their hard work. That’s why in May, we will be traveling to Ohio all the way from Rhode Island to attend the first Special K9 Games!
Thank you to Keller’s Cause for EVERYTHING that you do and stand for!
Several years back my rescue was taking in a double merle puppy. I had very limited experience and really appreciated the support from Keller’s Cause. The wealth of educational resources continues to come in handy for me on a daily basis.
The leadership of this foundation are fully committed and totally engaged in their mission.
Both my rescue and myself personally could not recommend this group highly enough. We are proud to share their story at every opportunity and continue to look for ways to be able to partner with them.
I've always had dogs, since the day I left for college. I knew they were the best ,,but didn't know why.?i had some lucky dogs reach 16 and 18 years old. Deafness was not a topic at my vet. You put them down . No solutions, end of discussion.?Instead , I made up hand signals and they got it quickly! I've read about local chapters and fostered some deaf dogs and loved them . I accidentally started following and buying tshirts from Kellers Cause. They looked new and thought I could do what I could to help from the west coast. Told all dog lovers I knew, told them about the website and FB and how 2?women travelled all over with one, 2, 3, 4 or 5 double Merle's to educate about this preventable deafness and hearing impairment. My father was deaf, too . And I felt sorry for him . But then Kellers Cause taught me impairments or disabilities are what you make them . And they have trained, fostered, raised and rescued a lot of dogs from death row. And their dogs don't just exist, They SHINE! Thank you for all the tips, lessons and videos . Someday I hope you get a van and a big house to help all the dogs in need. If anyone deserves it it is Kellers Cause! ! I'm proud to follow you!!
While I don't have a sight-nor-hearing impaired dog, I have learned so much information by following Keller's site and Keller's Cause. I have been able to pass on what I've learned, both about the double merle and sight and/or hearing impaired dogs. The best thing I think I've learned is that having a dog with a sight and/or hearing issue shouldn't be looked upon as "different" and they lead just as wonderful a life as a dog without those issues! Thank you Amanda!
When I added my first double merle to my family, I expected to have a dog that would never be able to do the same things as the "normal" dogs. Keller's Cause has opened my eyes to the wonderful things that my, and other, double merles are capable of doing. I love educating others about these dogs whenever I can. Because my Lueka (Aussie/Chihuahua) is such an awesome dog, I added another double merle, Colt (Aussie/Corgi) to our family.
I love this site. It has so much information about deaf and vision impaired babies. I received my first DM 3 years ago. I have rescued every type of animal and issue I thought until Abby. She was 8 weeks old and was slated to be killed by a backyard breeder. This was the second litter with the same animals and knew what would occur. I found websites like Keller's Cause and other ones to teach me how to train and work with Abby. Due to this website no one knows she is fully deaf and can only see shadows out of one eye. Abby was younger then my other 3 fur babies and we needed a pal for her. Again through Keller's Cause and other websites I was looking for another similar baby. I finally found one at the Humane Society. Abby is a purebred Aussie. The new baby was an Aussie Pitbull. Both females. They had fights and issues that was difficult to work with. This and other websites gave me wonderful ideas on how to stop the fights and how to avoid them with the language barrier. The fights was the hardest to get through this website gave me hope as I went through this difficult time. I only have partial use of my left hand and back injuries seperation them was difficult. Using the hose watergun umbrella with the button opening startled them enough to stop fighting. These babies had to learn to learn to fight to survive. So when they fight they don't stop. The communication issues and training issues was also addressed in this site. Combining hearing dogs to deaf dogs was also addressed here. All of my dogs are rescue so alot of unique ways had to be learned to help everyone. I recommend this site to everyone including pet stores that try to help guide there customer to help when they need it. Thank you for supporting me on this wonderful journey. I now hooked on these babies and love them so much.
I have learned so much from Kellers Cause. I have 2 little rescue dogs and had seriously considered a DM. However after much soul searching felt that I could not provide what they would need, living in a small apartment and no yard and working full time. If my circumstances were to change I would adopt a DM. This is a wonderful cause, Keller and Braille are inspirations.
Kellers cause is truly an act of love. I am so grateful that this organization is helping to educate everyone. Anyone or anything that helps bring attention to selfish breeding practices deserves our help.
I follow Keller's organization n the Great things they do. I have learned so much from them, things I did not know. Keller is an inspiration! And adorable too!!!
I too have a double merle Australian Sheppard. What Amanda is trying to do is actually twofold. While appealing to the AKC and public to stop the breeding of merle to merle dogs, Amanda is also advocating for them. Many of the puppies that are born from merle to merle breeding are killed shortly after birth. She is showing the world that the dogs, who can have sight and hearing deficits, are still loving companions and advocates for their adoption.
I have been following Keller's Cause since its inception. Being an Aussie owner for years, I feel that this cause and what Amanda and Keller are doing to raise awareness is wonderful. Amanda is an amazing resource for other double merle owners as well. She is well connected with rescues and is always willing to lend support and give advice. I adore Keller and am so grateful to be able to share her life through their Facebook page. I'm pretty sure we can expect to see more great accomplishments from Keller and Keller's Cause in the months and years to come.
We love Keller's Cause!
Having 2 Double Merles of my own I have found so much inspiration from Amanda Fuller & Rose Adler and their amazing dog's, Keller & Braille.
Keller's Cause has given a voice to these amazing dog's for the purpose of educating the public about the dangers of merle to merle breeding in hopes that one day they won't be created.
Keller's Cause plays a huge part also in advocating for these special dog's still waiting for thier forever homes by showing the world how much these dog's are capable of in spite of their "disabilities"
Thank you Keller's Cause and may you continue your wonderful work.
I would like to tell you how amazing Kellers Cause is. I have been following Kellers story for about 2 years now. Her Pet Patent Amanda Fuller is amazing. She is so dedicated to bringing awareness to the breeding of Double Merle's. That is the reason these puppies are born blind or deaf or both. Heartless Breeders need to be brought into the light for doing what they do. Amanda works countless hours trying to STOP this. She has written many letters and has been traveling all over. I applaud her for all that she does.
I love Kellers Cause so much because they are teaching about double merle! Keller is an awesome spokesdog for her cause she is my hero! I love her alot! I never knew about double merles until i became friends with her on facebook! She is awesome!
I love being a part of this organization and part of this community. We founded Keller's Cause with a goal of education, but our ambitions quickly grew as we saw a need for continued support for owners of double merles.
