Mission: Japan US Community Education and Exchange is an agent for change. We promote civil society by strengthening and linking the non-profit sectors in Japan & the US. We do this through bi-lateral, non-profit internships, fellowships, organizational exchanges and professional training.
Programs: Our vision is to build a global participatory society through work with nonprofit organizations and socially minded people in Japan and the U.S. We believe it is important to build globally minded leadership within nonprofit, community-based organizations. Without an international outlook nonprofit work will become increasingly more difficult and ineffective. JUCEE exists to bridge areas that have traditionally hampered international nonprofit connections. JUCEE facilitates collaborations, internships and exchanges among nonprofit organizations, a sector of society that participates less frequently in global networking. HOW JUCEE WORKS JUCEE has a bilateral base in the U.S. and in Japan. The precise matching of organization to organization (Fellowships Creating Partnerships Program) and the interest fit between intern and organization (Nichibei Pathfinding Opportunity Program and Japan-U.S. Nonprofit Internship Program) happens because JUCEE is physically present and knowledgeable about the nonprofit sector in each country. The resulting high quality JUCEE program is also due to the bilingual/bicultural knowledge that is at the foundation of the organization, as well as the organization s knowledge of the social, economic, and political histories surrounding the nonprofit sectors in the U.S. and Japan. When we say the foundation of the organization, we mean that each and every staff member is a bicultural/bilingual resource.
