Mission: The innocence project of texas (iptx) is a nonprofit human services organization that provides investigation and legal assistance to low-income texas citizens who were convicted of crimes they did not commit.
Programs: The innocence project of texas conducts "search and rescue" missions to restore freedom to individuals in texas imprisoned for crimes they did not commit. We review over 1,000 requests for assistance each year. Once we decide to take on a case, our attorneys, aided by law school clinic students at texas a&m and texas tech university, locate new evidence demonstrating actual innocence and seek the prisoner's release using post-conviction legal proceedings.
