Mission: Hmn assists families with home retention, preservation and neighborhood stabilization. Hmn helps individuals at risk of losing their homes, and also transitions abandoned homes to owner occupied therefore achieving neighborhood stabilization. Beginning in fy18, hmn now has responsibility for certain functions of the foreclosure mediation program (fmp), as specified in senate bill 490 passed during the 2017 legislative session. Senate bill 490 continued the nevada state fmp. While the fmp still exists, the nevada supreme court has transferred its duties under the program to the nevada district courts and hmn. Individuals who have received a notice of default on owner occupied housing will now petition the district court when they want to participate in mediation. The district court will assign a mediator who will conduct the mediation. Hmn will provide a supporting role in the fmp and issue certificates that allow the foreclosure process to proceed as required by senate bill 490 and wil
Programs: During fy17 hmn conducted the nevada home retention program (nhrp. ) nhrp assisted individuals and families at risk of losing their homes who had not been helped by other housing programs. The goal of the program was to stabilize home ownership and neighborhoods by reducing home mortgages to current market value. The nhrp was wound down and concluded at the end of fy17.
