Mission: The Hearing Society believes everyone has the right to communicate and works to enhance the quality of life for deaf and hard of hearing of all ages. The Hearing Society, founded in 1915, provides information and guidance; audiological and mental health counseling; assistive listening devices; and group programs for youth and seniors. Special programs for youth include family counseling.
Programs: The Hearing Society's core programs include Individual & Family Services, Community Education, a Resource Center and Policy & Advocacy. Many of our programs are not offered anywhere else. Many services are interpreted in Cantonese, Mandarin, Spanish. Our professionally staffed assistive devices room is the only one of its kind in Northern California where the public can be shown demonstrations by experts. Staff contributes to national journals, textbooks and conferences and teaches courses at major universities.
