Mission: Goodwill rescue mission, inc. Is a non-profit charitable religious corporation with the purpose of ministering to the spiritual and material needs of men, women and children by: providing for the physical welfare of needy persons through emergency services, a comprehensive non-medical christian recovery program, community outreach programs providing relief to the poor, conducting religious services, diseminating religious literature and materials, salvaging used goods for resale and use, and in general performing any other religious and charitable works consistent with the provisions of the amended and restated certificate of incorporation of the corporation.
Programs: Goodwill rescue mission (grm) is open 365 days a year providing food, shelter and guidance to some of newark's most needy men, women and children. Each year grm provides care for over 100,000 chronically homeless individuals, many with life controlling addictions. Grm serves between 250 -300 meals a day and has approximately 200 beds available for men and women between our emergency shelters and comprehensive life transformation programs. Meals and shelter are provided 7 days a week. Approximately 51 men and 14 women sleep in our emergency shelters each night. Our long-standing relationships with a variety of other community organizations and agencies uniquely position us to ensure that all of a person's felt needs are addressed, including physical, medical, emotional and spiritual. Weekly, we distribute 50 to 60 pounds of assorted baked goods. We are a distribution center for "one warm coat- and distribute coats throughout the winter to those in need. Free clothing is provided to anyone in need. During the major holidays the mission provides celebrations and special meals.
