Mission: Listening is an activity of the Heart, not merely the ear.
CONTACT is a non-exclusive Christian ministry of caring.
CONTACT's continuous telephone ministry and community education programs are available to everyone. These services are provided from a foundation of confidentiality and acceptance by trained volunteers under the leadership of a professional staff.
CONTACT serves everyone in the Hampton Roads local calling area. In addition CONTACT volunteers provide Crisis Intervention services after hours for: Newport News/Hampton Community Services Board, Newport News Healthy Families Initiative, Peninsula Aids Foundation, and the Middle Peninsula-Northern Neck Community Service Board.
A caller may be lonely, depressed, troubled or in crisis. In this complicated and busy world, there may be no one to talk with... except a CONTACT volunteer.
We accept volunteers from all walks of life: What's important is that they care about people and are willing to learn how to use active listening skills to help the caller in distress.
