The Heart of Giving Inc continues to give back to the community in which I was raised by donating to my annual toy drive. We are grateful to have them live what they do for not just out community but for everyone!
I have worked with this organization by giving and receiving. I know it has helped so many with a multitude of needs. The emergency food and help with emergency needs being provided has been life saving to many. Especially single moms and children.
We first became involved with The Heart of Giving over 5 years ago while we were both still full-time employees in secular businesses. I owned a van with seats that folded down into the floorboard. So on Saturdays or holidays when there was a donation of furniture or small items to be picked up or delivered, the van could be used. I was amazed by the number of donors and the quantity of items that were received. I became aware of the importance of spreading information into the community. Many very nice items were given to people and saved from the alternative of being wasted in the dump. Three remarkable things impressed me from the very beginning. First, God knew there was going to be a need for those donations and the Director of The Heart of Giving was open to His direction and matched so many - sometimes the receipt and the delivery to the need was the same day. Second, there is never any charge to the recipient. The Heart of Giving is simply a conduit of blessings. Third, many volunteers are needed and the Director and a few primary assistants are very skilled managers of logistics and organization.
Now we are retired and assist every week with donated food distribution. We receive items (usually frozen sandwiches) one day a week about 10:30am at the central office and deliver to individuals or families with some situation that these food items will at least partially relieve. We have lots of insulated bags and blue-ice packs and divide whatever we receive quickly. Currently we are delivering regularly to 13 families. The youngest person is about 6 (the father of the family died with Covid at Christmas in 2021). I am guessing the oldest is mid-90's (mobility difficulty and almost deaf). Besides delivering free food, we can visit with each family and encourage them. We usually finish before 5pm. I want to express to anyone who reads this, that partnering with The Heart of Giving is our ministry and that we feel blessed every day by it. We look forward to our next delivery day and we don't schedule any activity to conflict with this. I observe every week that The Heart of Giving continues to bless the community with household items and many other activities that we do not regularly assist with at this time. Our Estate Sale, home clean out company began working with The Heart of Giving about 8 years ago. They have always responded with a great group of people helping them pick up items for donation. Have always gone out of their way to schedule their time with us. Whenever we meet with a client and they ask us about charitable donations regardless of whether we will work with them or not we always advise them to use The Heart of Giving. They are professional, Caring and a worthy cause. We thank them for their help dozens of times over the years.
Always finds what my clients need. Always on time. They really care about helping others. The director Amy Jones is a great example of poise, passion for helping others and always treating people with respect and dignity, no matter where they fall in the line of financial stability.
I had the pleasure of working with leaders of the heart of the giving where we collaborated on community projects. Mrs. Jones and her husband are wonderful leaders and the amount of work they do for the community can’t be overstated. From caring for the needy and homeless to providing a space for the youth in the heart of a princess. This organization represents and embodies community service and is worthy of recognition.
They have always provided food, clothes, and furniture whenever my family needed it. I am very grateful for them and all their help. I also love to help them when I can to provide for others as well.

This non-profit organization helps the community in so many ways. I have personally experience how the founders out their heart into helping others, from feeding the homeless, to providing furniture to families in need, to giving clothes to the less fortunate. This organization gives back to the community , and has so many volunteers that help support the community.
This is the best group ever . They always help people find them a place to stay, they feed them, and they even help get stuff out of people houses. This is the best group I ever worked with.
This program has helped me so much, I started off needing help then I started to give because of the help I received and now I am a board member.

The people are so grateful to receive food, furniture, etc. It is a blessing to know there is a smile on a customer's face when furniture is delivered to their home when they have nothing at all. this organization goes above any stardards ive seen. no matter what the need they are met . people are treated with respect and love is freely given. doesnt matter who you are ,sex,gender perfence, status all are helped,prayed for,counciled,fed ,whatever is needed . if your down on your luck, just need a hand up, they are there to freely give without explatation. I had two seniors in need of appliances. Both had very limited income and could not afford to purchase an appliance. THOG graciously provided a stove to one senior and to the other senior they provided a washing machine. THOG also provided furniture to my aunt when her senior’s apartment burned down in Chesapeake about 3 or 4 years ago. They blessed her abundantly to start rebuilding a new place to call home. THOG is truly a beacon of light in the community. God bless your ministry Mrs. Amy! Thank God for The Heart of Giving!
We met the Director when we were volunteering for Serve the City. She is the kind of woman who reaches back to support other women. She offered my daughter a job and has been an excellent mentor for her. The company is so much more than a clothing and furniture donation warehouse. They provide food, toy drives, educational supplies, hygiene items and more to those in need.
This is one of the best organizations I have seen, the hearts that involved in Hearts of Giving is amazing they show so much LOVE, they are caring, kindhearted, compassionate, and a joy to be apart of whether you giving or receiving, if you are receiving you don’t hear anyone talking about you or putting you down they are more than glad to help in anyway.
I currently have the opportunity to help this nonprofit by providing food for the youth. I have web cooking for the children for a while. It is truly my passion. This group has insured that these youth have a hot meal everyday and are safe. This is very near and dear to my heart. So I jumped at the opportunity to help in any way possible. They also help the community with clothing, food, and household things. They are truly a blessing to our community!!
I cant remember exactly how i connected with the Heart of Giving Organization. But what I can remember is that from the moment I connected I've been in awe. For as a young child I've always been taught to be a cheerful giver. So for me The Heart of Giving is the perfect resource where I know my "trash" will become someone else's treasure. But not only that The Heart of Giving is also a place where the community can help one another just as Iron sharpens Iron. I love this organization for it is all this and so much more. This organization is the best!! I had recently moved and barely had furniture. I reached out to the organization via their Facebook page and was extremely blessed by Ms. Amy and the organization. They furnished my home with everything that me and my children needed. They're the best for sure!!

I collaborated with THOG on a community initiative to end homelessness. Months later I became a Board member and I am forever grateful. When an organization lines up with your purpose and helps others in such an authentic way, there is nothing better. Truly an organization touching the hearts of many.

I have been a part of the Heart of Giving Organization for the past 3 years. In my opinion, this is a very essential organization. Unlike other nonprofit organizations, there is not any red tape to be had. Members simply make their needs known and the generosity of the community takes over. You never have to worry or wonder if needs are being met. We see it every day. It is so heartwarming to see new home owners or new parents come to this organization to request blessings, have their needs met and once they are able, come back to this very organization and pay it forward. I have been affiliated with this organization for more than three years now. I love this organization! There isn't any red tape or middlemen. It is simply a giver blessing another person in need. I have observed firsthand how this group offers hope to the community. I have observed friendships and partnerships formed. This organization has helped me tremendously with food with furniture with anything that I've needed that other people could possibly be there for me to help me with it's just been a great organization to me and my son here recently I need it furniture for my living room and I got a couch and loveseat that was actually delivered to me and brought into the house for me . I didn't have no way to get it to my home. I paid a small fee to have it deliverd to my home the two gentlemen brought me the furniture and they even put it in my home for me. I honestly had no way to get new furniture . there have been times I didn't have food and I asked for help and I actually was givin food. If I know of anyone who needs help with just about anything I tell them about this wonderful group of angels here on earth.
Today I received, a dresser for my daughter's room, a tv stand and a computer desk for work. Moved to a new apartment and started all over. Such a huge help that Heart of giving provided. Very nice and nonjudgmental people . Which is important, especially during these trying times in this world. Thanks again!

On behalf of the Blessed Hands program , I would like to say Mrs. Amy Jones has gone above and beyond the average person in giving thru her organization "The Hearts Of Giving ". She has provided children's toys, and other needed items for them , also Kitchen and house ware items to name a few. The items she provides help others in our community Of Portsmouth "The Blessed Hands Program " we provide essential items such as diapers formula, wipes, and other baby and children items. . We also have varies clothes and household items. The program is open every Saturday 62 Bainbridge Ave in the Craddock section of Portsmouth , one to three pm and is open to all . Many people come from surrounding cities such as Norfolk and Chesapeake . I have been so blessed to have had face to face contact with Mrs. Jones because of her untiring and beautiful spirit of giving though her organization .Having blessed so many people in need so far , I pray this will continue because there are still so many in need .

The heart of giving is the best! I have 2 children since the heart of giving was founded. Over the last 3yrs I have gotten free stuff for all 4 of my children. We are a 1 income household with 6 people. Just last week I posted if anyone could lend me their carpet cleaner for the weekend. The founder Amy Jones was nice enough to let me borrow hers.

So I wrote a review before however I've come to find out that this group has it's ups and downs. Amy is a terrific admin however they other admin have completely dishonored this group name when they turned off a comment and block it when a young lady asked for prayer. Simple prayer she wasn't asking for money or anything. I don't understand how you could do such a thing. I'm so disappointed

Early this ya I had a cousin that just had a newborn and a 6yr old. She need help. She was just getting out of a bad situation and back on her feet. This time I called upon Mrs Amy Jones for help with my cousin. All I can say after our phone conversation Mrs. Jones had my cousin whole apartment furnish, food in cabinets, clothes for children, pampers for baby. VA Information Bulletin Board, “The Heart Of Giving” has changed me in so many ways. I have always been a giving person but not as much as I am now. I used to try and sell my used belongings but after being apart of this organization and being able to hear the impact it has on someone's life just by giving has been a great experience for me. I most recently started donating food to a local organization who prepares food for people in need. It warms my heart to be able to help someone out. It is such a small gesture on my part but so big for someone who is hungry. This is also teaching my children to be givers as well. We need more people in the world like this.

They work so hard to bless the community. I have been bless along with others I know. There moderators work hard to make sure people follow the rules... May I... is used when asking for a blessing, and we all should be polite when asking for something. THANK YOU HOG & AMY!
I love this site and all that these woman stand for and after being blessed and blessing others I get a chance to actually be a big part of the organization
Amy Jones and Heather Reeves are God sent angels. I would not be where I am today had it not been for these ladies. When I met them my family and I were living out of our car. These ladies invited me to church, loved on me, made me comfortable, and helped me as much as they could to make sure we had a home, jobs, furniture, food, clothes,ect. The world definitely needs more Amy Jones's.
Unbelievable, we had some pay issues and needed a little help putting groceries in the house for our 3 boys. The stress was crushing us feeling hopeless. We prayed and were guided to ask for help, not something easy to do. We recieved way more than we could have dreamed of. We are so greatful for everything we have been given. There are so many wonderful people willing to help out. This is an amazing group, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Almost three years ago I had the pleasure of meeting Amy Jones when I was in need. I had to stop working to take care of my daughter and home school my autistic son. This had put a strain on our family's finances, but God always provides! I started to volunteer with the organization, because I felt compelled to help others like I have been helped. I now use the skills I learned (working over all those years) to provide resources, advice, and encouragement to those who face homelessness. I have watched the organization grow from 25,000 members to over 70,000 in a matter of years! Our members are my friends, the volunteers are my family. I couldn't imagine my life without them.
My family have been both blessed by others and had been a blessing to others through this group. I have been a member of this group since the very beginning and I have seen countless blessings from every aspect of life, from food to furniture. The Heart of Giving deserves recognition for having such an impact in families lives such as mines and countless other in the community!
I have benefitted by both giving to others and by receiving blessings throughout Heart of Giving. Amy helped me give away 50 dozen donuts , and by happy blessing also helped me replace my then-broken washing machine. God gives and blesses as we bless others and Amy and Heart of Giving have provided a tangible way to see that in action every day.
The Heart of Giving has changed my life. This organization has actually saved my life. Before I started volunteering I felt as though I had no purpose in life. When I joined my eyes were opened. I saw where my purpose was suppose to be, to help people in need. The Heart of giving has shown me exactly where I should be in life. I love life now and the family we have become. It has restored my faith.
Mrs. Amy and her organization is great and helped me when I was in need of different household items. U also enjoy how I am able to bless items out I no longer need. I also enjoy when people enjoy dinners I make from time to time. This is a great organization overall
When I lost my job because of a shoulder injury this group helped me find resources to keep my family going through the 5 months it took before I could find a job that would allow me to work with a weight restriction especially through Christmas when I thought my two girls weren't going to have anything. And Amy even made it possible for moms to get a little something to feel special too.
I joined The Heart of Giving a few months ago when I was trying to help a friend, who was in desperate need of clothing for a new job. The response was nothing short of amazing. People were donating clothing, shoes and offering kind words. A few weeks later, as I was preparing for a new baby, I started to clean out some of my kitchen cabinets. I had a glass cookware set that I hadn’t used in a while. I asked my daughter to just throw it out but as she started walking towards the door I remembered about the Heart of Giving. I listed the set on the site and the next morning a young woman picked it up. She messaged me to thank me and told me she would be using it to cook dinner for her family that evening. The feeling that I helped someone provide food to their family, was so rewarding. And to think I was just going to throw it out!! Over the next few weeks I continued to list items around the house that we hadn’t used in a while. Not only was I getting rid of things that were taking up much needed space in my home but I was helping people while doing it! It was a great feeling. During this time, I was also blessed with amazing items for my newborn son that I might not otherwise be able to obtain. The site is run very well. The admins are amazing at keeping everything in order and ensuring that people are respectful and fair, which is a nice change from other groups. God is an awesome God who is always on time and I can’t imagine if I wasn’t introduced to The Heart of Giving when I was! It truely has changed my life for the good and I’ve met some pretty amazing people along the way!
I was a member then became an admin. I have learned through this that we shouldn't judge people. I'm still learning. I love to give to others and watch their faces light up. I've gained new friendships through this group. It's great!!
I work in the human services field and this group is one of the best around for having needs met and being blessed. I have seen many lives change due to being in this group.
I've been a part of this organization for approximately 1 year. In that short time the membership doubled in my area! I'm thrilled to be associated with an organization where giving in love is the core! As a member I don't have to wonder if my contribution will reach the recipient. I'm able to bless people in person. Therefore I know I'm truly helping my community. I've made many new friendships! To witness a homeless mother transition into her new house and make it a home off the blessings this group provided, truly warms my heart. Then to have that same person give back to the group is an even bigger blessing. Examples like these prove that if each one, reach one, we will reach and bless many ! This group has reaffirmed for me, that good people really are among us! The leaders of this group truly lead by example! I pray daily for their strength and I do hope that the community do not take this fine group for granted!
As a strong believer in Christ it has always been instilled in me to always try to lend a hand to anyone that my be in need . i have always want to be apart of something big that thinks and acts out of kindness as i do
When i came across the Heart Of Giving page i couldn't believe such a great caring Organization existed . being able to bless people and see other people being blessed on a daily basis was truly heart melting

This organization has changed my life. It showed me that there’s still many good people in this world and that are willing to help one another. I’ve been given the opportunity to become a part of the team and is able to see the true goodness this organization has to offer. The founder Amy Jones is one of the most loving, greatful, and giving person I’ve met. She’s truly a preacher at heart.
Wow where do I start, this site has provided not only my family with items needed, but I have been able to claim things and be blessed to be able to help many friends and family in need, when my family went through some devastating times, this community pulled together and really helped out, more than being blessed I have been able to pay it forward, when I was raising my boys, I was blessed so many times, I am thankful I am now in the position to be able to help out some, and it feels good to have the opportunity to be able to pay it forward. I love helping with the heart of giving. The feeling you get helping others is beyond words can explain. Everyone I have meet has been so nice and so very grateful for the items.
I began my journey with The Heart of Giving 2 years ago. My family and I have been struggling with loss and depression for many years and financial ruin to top it off. Because of this amazing group of people we have been able to help our children have school clothes, our pets to remain home with us, my neighbors to thrive, and to top it off thanks to our amazing Presidents reach, I was able to become employed after being a stay at home mom for 5 years. Ive forever grateful for everyones love, prayers, and support over these last 2 years.
The Heart of Giving is so much more than just a nonprofit, it is like joining a family. The outpouring from everyone when you have a need is amazing. From all this comes the personal relationship with so many people. My experience with them has been uplifting, encouraging, strengthening and spiritual. God has his hand is this organization.

I began serving with The Heart of Giving about 1.5yrs ago. Not only had working with this group provided my family with valuable resources when a need has arisen, but I have also made valuable friendships. My life has been enriched through the opportunities to reach out to my community and make an impact on the people who live here. Every time I serve during an event or workday I come away changed, always for the the better.
The Heart of giving helped our ministry (Brett and Mike Hike BMH) to reach over 500 people through donations received through The Heart of Giving to make sock kits for the homeless and working poor. I have been faithfully serving with The Heart of Giving for over 3 years.
