There are no words for this phenomenal lady. She has poured her passion for her son and his disability onto a platform that has brought the autism community together as a family. For the majority, isolation and decreased socialization is the norm for this group. ABSASD has enlightened loved ones that there is a Brighter Side in spite of having a different ability.
Kalishia's love for her son is why we have this beautiful organization. I have known Kalishia and my nephew JeQuan; for over 20 years and love is all she knows. It is her love that shows up for the people she knows and so many others who cross her path. Kalishia knew she had to be the voice for JeQuan and along the way she has given so many others their voices; I am one of those mothers. She has educated and inspired me and countless others. This organization is grassroots and deeply loved by the community of families it serves. I am proud of the resilience, integrity and generosity that its CEO and members have shown every step of the way.
This nonprofit organization is absolutely amazing. Kalisha Mitchell is truly passionate and dedicated to her organization. She along with her amazing team has been able to bring more awareness to the community. This nonprofit organization has truly created a tremendous amount of opportunities to those who have participated with this family oriented organization.
Very helpful. This organization goes above and beyond. Love how they include art activities as well.
ABS2ASD is a great organization that specializes in doing events for people with disabilities. The Awesome Artistic Art Show is an annual affair that brings together artist to display and sell their art. It brings together families that otherwise would not participate in events such as this. I personally recommend this organization. The founder is full of knowledge and this has been her passion since 2015. Please check out this organization. You will not be disappointed.

A Brighter Side is an organization that allows children and adults with disabilities to share their talents and abilities. I’m speaking from personal experience as my daughter is living with autism. Kalisha attends performances, art shows and other activities of her members. She has even visited my daughter at college to which I am truly grateful. The annual art show has allowed my daughter to display her art work which will help her begin her journey to own her own art studio. Please join us as we build something great.
I found out and heard about A Brighter Side through the news and reached out to Ms. Mitchell to see about getting my son to be a part of this wonderful organization. My son is one of the newer artists and Ms. Mitchell welcomed us with open arms and made us feel like a part of the “family.” She is doing a wonderful job raising awareness and giving the artists, including my son, a platform to showcase their talents. Shonn is such a warm hearted, talented artist as well as the others and we appreciate and are so glad to have the opportunity to be a part of A Brighter Side. We look forward to what’s to come!
This organization has enlighten me to a new world of children and adults that I am grateful I have met.
I have been working with Kalisha on and off for about 4 or 5 years. Kalisha gives 100% everday for her "kids". I have never meant someone more dedicted to the mission of making sure every child on the spectrum lives a fulfilling life and receives the helpnand resources to achieve this. I have heard her passionately welcome new parents and share her knowledge. I am extremely pleased to work with her and A Brighter Side and welcome them every month for our Sensory Sensitive Sunday at Chuck E Cheese.

Mrs. Kalisha Mitchell and the brighter side family has supported my family throughout the past few years. I remember when my son was having a hard time with his behaviors and she invited us over her home. We talked for hours, her sharing advice and experiences. Her and my son bonded. She has a breathtaking energy that caught him. She made me feel like everything was going to be okay. This women is paving the way for our babies!!
I love A Brighter Side because I learned a lot about Autism through the organization. I work with kids but had never had the opportunity to work with any kids on the spectrum until I meet Kalishia and Jaquan! Jaquan was my first interaction with a child who had Autism up close. So I joined A Brighter Side so that I can gain experience and feel more confident in how I work with the children on my job if I ever got the opportunity to work with a child on the spectrum I wouldn’t feel like a fish out the water. I Love that we show the Best of our children and not what people without knowledge think all the time. Brighter Side is family always!!!!

A Brighter Side to ASD showcases their talents to allow growth in their self-esteem. They also provide events and opportunities for our amazing young people to spend time with friends, make new ones, and share fun and laughter in a comfortable environment. They don’t have to worry about being pointed at, stared at, or bullied.
