Mission: The mission of common visual data foundation ("cvdf" or "the foundation") is to enable open, community-driven research in the field of computer vision study by bringing together leading academic researchers at universities and other research partners for scientific and technological advancement for the benefit of the public interest.
Programs: Cvdf works to advance scientific research and provide educational resources in the field of computer vision research through the development of academic datasets and corresponding research competitions. The availability of high-quality labeled data is essential for enabling and evaluating state-of-the-art academic research. The research competitions sponsored by the foundation help the computer vision research community gain insight into the progress of the field and help identify remaining challenges. In addition to the academic datasets and research competitions hosted by the foundation, the tools used in their creation are open-sourced and made freely available to the public on a non-discriminatory basis in order to aid data related research across the computer vision research community.
