Mission: Common sense kids action (cska) works with policymakers, business leaders, and other advocates across the nation to ensure that every child has the opportunity to succeed. Kids action is driving policies at the state and national levels to ensure all kids 0-5 have access to affordable and high quality early childhood education and health services; that all children have state of the art digital-learning experiences; that their online data is protected; and that all kids have the opportunity to grow up with sufficient economic and educational opportunities to help them succeed in life. With more than 65 million common sense users, 300,000 registered educators, and potential advocates in every home and school across the nation, common sense's advocacy platform is building a movement dedicated to making kids our nation's top priority.
Programs: In 2016, common sense kids action launched the california kids campaign, hiring 20 parent organizers in communities across the state to organize parents around our agenda to make kids our state's top priority. As part of this campaign, we created the first-ever common sense voter guide, which broke down the statewide initiatives on the 2016 california statewide ballot to describe the way they'd impact kids and families using straight-forward language. Kids action advocates took 10,924 actions (5,390 digital tool actions and 5,534 social media engagement), including at least one action from each of the 50 states, on issues including student data privacy, digital citizenship, paid family leave, teacher shortages, and earned income tax credits. Our advocacy efforts also led to 36 mission-driven laws being enacted utilizing our new common sense legislative ratings program.
