Mission: The foundation promotes marine education and encourages public interaction with the marine environment. The foundation pursues this objective through support of various programs that are detailed on schedule o. The foundation supports:* public events at the channel islands harbor* junior lifeguard programs* junior sailing programs* development of a marine education and boating instruction andsafety centerthe foundation supports opportunities for the public to experience the marine environment and learn about marine resources, conservation and stewardship. The foundation supports junior sailing, junior lifeguard, and other marine-oriented activities that promote self-esteem, independence, and cooperation. The boating instruction and safety center will provide a location for public recreational and educational activities, including sailing instruction and exhibits on marine ecology and conservation.
Programs: Provided recreational and educational activities for the general public at channel islands harbor; events included the july 4th celebration & fireworks, coordinating tall ships visiting the harbor, fairy tales in the park, celebration of the whales, music in the park events, & youth programs including sailing and introduction to marine environment to innercity youth; thousands of people benefited from these programs.
performed fund development for the channel islands boating & safety instruction center; assited in coordinating other entities who are directly involved with constructing the center, including other governmental and non-profit entities, architectural & engineering contractors, and others providing goods and services for the construction.
