Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County is one of the most influential and authentic organizations I've ever had the pleasure to serve and support. Not only is their mission noble and very efficient, but I have yet to encounter anyone within the organization - either on the build sites or in the corporate office - that isn't friendly, helpful and genuinely committed to their duties and the organization itself. I have been a "regular" volunteer on the 8-home build site in Santa Paula for several months now, and there's never been a day that I've not been excited and inspired to get in my truck and drive to the site. Construction not being the trade I've worked in my life, there's never a day that I haven't learned something new at the hands of very supportive and knowledgable "leads" on the site. I look forward to serving this organization for years to come on many build sites! I HIGHLY recommend to ANYONE wanting to "give back", to contact H4H of Ventura County and get out there and have a truly rewarding experience!
Habitat for Humanity is reaching so many families through the "Preserve a Home" program and through lending a hand up with affordable new homes each family purchases. Every family deserves a decent home. It brings so much joy to see a family acquire a home that they would not normally be able to afford. Our experience volunteering has been so positive that we keep coming back every week. Great people coming together and having fun. No experience needed. We have learned so much. The Preserve a Home program helps so many people like seniors, the disabled to keep their homes. Building ramps, making them wheel chair accessable, etc. Several veterans projects have been completed as well.
If interested, contact Habitat. The staff is awesome!
This is an amazing non-profit to lend your time too. If you enjoy meeting new people, fun people, talented people, people who love to share of themselves, their talents, their time and just feel good about giving back
Even if you have never lifted a hammer, shovel, climbed a ladder, painted a wall, etc. join us. It will so be great to meet you, get to know you and see you much fun you have when you join us. Hope to see you very soon.
I enjoy volunteering for Habitat for Humanity Ventura County and am inspired by the teenagers and young adults that volunteer. I am concerned though about the lack of site supervision. There are so many safety violations. OSHA would have a field day! I often wonder how the volunteers avoid getting seriously injured.
What a pleasure to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County! The executive director Stacy is extremely committed and I love their emails. The worksite manager Buzz was really helpful and kind. He put our group of college students to work and we felt like we were able to make some headway in framing the house. The other volunteers are inspiring – a group of retired men and women who work like bees. They put our group of college students to shame. It was a great experience and I will never forget my two days of construction! The family came by and brought us fruit to go with our lunch. It was really rewarding. Thanks so much HFH!
