Mission: Develop technology to combat sexual assault and harassment, empower survivors, and advance justice. Our technology empowers victims, giving them options and allowing them to disclose in a way that feels safe. Our unique matching system securely connects victims of the same perpetrator to identify repeat offenders.
Programs: Callisto is a web-based college sexual assault recording and reporting platform designed to provide a more empowering reporting experience for survivors, facilitate the identification of repeat assailants, and improve data on campus sexual assault. Callisto launched on two campuses in 2015. By the 2017/18 academic year it served 13 campuses with 149,000 students. Student survivors can securely create time-stamped records of their assault, reporting if and when they're ready to take action. Without callisto, student survivors who report begin the process 11 months post-assault. Callisto allows survivors to immediately preserve evidence on their own terms, at a time, place, and pace that is best for them. No one can see the details of a record without explicit consent of the survivor - they are encrypted in a way that not even the callisto team can view. The platform facilitates faster, detailed and credible reporting for survivors who choose to report. Universities that partner with callisto receive a school-specific callisto website (including custom content on reporting options and resources), along with training and materials to roll it out to their students.
callisto expansion adapts the unique callisto matching model and moves beyond the college setting. It will address sexual harassment as well as assault. Initially, it will focus on one industry or profession at a time. In 2017 callisto explored models specific to the venture capital, entertainment and new york theatre industries, working closely with decision makers and advocates in those arenas. The expansion model will provide unique support options to victims of serial perpetrators of sexual misconduct.
private results is a phone-based std test result delivery system built in partnership with the baltimore city health department (bchd). It delivers std test results to patients via an automated toll-free number. Patients can call in 24 hours a day/7 days a week to receive a clear explanation of their test results. Providers can log into the system to see which patients have or have not accessed their results. Although callisto was not able to deploy private results due to delays on the baltimore city health department's end, callisto was able to provide them with the codebase and instructions for deployment.
