Mission: The berkeley art center (bac) serves the diverse and creative citizens of this unique regional area through the presentation of visual art exhibitions and related programs that are relevant, engaging and inspiring. Nestled in an idyllic setting in north berkeley in an architecturally distinctive historical structure, bac has built a strong presence in the community as an established resource and venue with an emphasis over the last decade on exhibiting bay area artists in compelling thematic exhibitions. Berkeley art center is a unique community art center in north berkeley that develops and presents visual art exhibitions with a focus on regional artists and related public programs that include lectures, artist talks, salons, film screenings, professional development of artists and panel discussions. Its audiences are primarily local and reflect the incredible artistic talent and high level of cultural interest in the area's population.
Programs: Sales of art work, books and catalogs. Artists' work being exhibited is often available for sale. Catalogs for some exhibits are also for sale. The organization stocks a number of books related to exhibits which are also for sale.
members and general public are invited to submit their work for the juried shows. Fees are collected to offset the costs of jurors and installing the exhibit.
membership dues give the member discounts and privileges relevant to the organization's mission.
