I went to see a couple dogs at this local shelter about a year ago and was very offput by my experience. To start with it was very hard to find the right office to go to for dog adoptions questions. When I got there I was rudely welcomed by who I assumed was the adopting manager. I understand some dogs bark alot, but they also has a very hyper active and loud dog right by the front desk, and she could not do anything to settle him down. So we were forced to shout over this dog. As she showed me around to the dogs I was interested in she kept asking me if I knew how much work it was having a dog and was almost trying to talk me out of adopting. She was also very rude to my brother when he asked some innocent specific questions regarding dog breed. When I told this to someone at the shelter I now volunteer at, they said that the lady might have had animal hoarding instincts....

Mission: To rescue, rehabilitate and adopt abandoned, abused or unwanted animals.
Programs: Operation of a "no kill" animal sanctuary and activity center providing veterinary care and rehabilitation for over 50 cats and 40 dogs at a time. Adoption services to qualified homes. Successfully placed 43 cats and 41 dogs this year. Also runs rescue program to capture & rehabilitate dogs living on the streets of phoenix & the surrounding cities thereby reducing the continual breeding of these animals. We also assist & counsel other rescue groups as well as members of the community on stray dog rescue.
