Mission: Animal Shelter Adoption Partners was founded in 2001 as an extension of our production of Rescue Me!, a 30 minute weekly television program that features every animal at the San Luis Obispo County Animal Shelter.Our organization uses only volunteers. We have expanded to provide other services that will reduce unnecessary euthanasia, primarily through increased adoptions and redemptions of animals at the San Luis Obispo County Animal Shelter. We designed and execute a series of web pages that are automatically updated daily and which display all the shelter animals.The Web Pages and TV program have led to significant increases in adoptions and redemptions from the county shelter, thus fewer animals are euthanized for space.We also coordinate foster programs and an interim housing/adoption program at a local kennel to address temporary shelter overcrowding.As of 2007, the San Luis Obispo County Animal Shelter continues to have one of the lowest rates of euthanasia in the US.
Programs: Our weekly TV program, Rescue Me! is broadcast to 60,000 homes in San Luis Obispo County 7 times each week, and is also playing in the front window of a local pet store on the main shopping street of San Luis Obispo 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.ASAP provides Adoption Fee Rebates to encourage adoption of hard-to-place unaltered animals, coordinates adopt-a-pets for shelter animals, and coordinates emergency transfer of county shelter animals to other shelters in times of severe overcrowding.
