Mission: Leading the fight to treat and cure als through global research and nationwide advocacy while also empowering people with lou gehrig's disease and their families to live fuller lives by providing them with compassionate care and support.
Programs: The als association arizona chapter, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization is the only statewide voluntary health organization dedicated solely to the fight against amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, more commonly referred to as lou gehrig's disease. The als association's nationwide network of chapters provides comprehensive patient services and support to the als community. We are compassionate, committed, and relentless in the fight to defeat als. Since 1991 we have provided critical assistance for more than 2,500 patients and their families at every stage of the disease through patient care management, a medical equipment loan program, respite care, transportation, support groups and multidisciplinary als clinics. Every year, our national organization invests (continued on schedule o)millions of dollars in research conducted by the best and brightest scientists in the world. Because of the support of individuals, foundations, and corporate partners we can continue to give help and hope to those facing this devastating disease. The arizona chapter also operates a children and family education program which includes providing a child life specialist to work with children of our als patients.
