Mission: The AIDS Wasting Foundation, Inc. (AWF) was established in 1997 by a group of concerned people living with HIV/AIDS, physicians, nutritionists, exercise physiologists, and other care providers. AWFs mission is to raise awareness about AIDS wasting and other metabolic abnormalities associated with HIV/AIDS, and to support efforts in prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of these conditions. AWFs programs include national education initiatives and outreach activities for people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHAs), AIDS service organizations (ASOs) - both health care and social service providers - and the general public, providing information and referrals on nutrition, exercise, and medical therapies. AWF sponsors and participates in conferences and symposia, and advocates for people with AIDS wasting nationally and internationally.
