Mission: Advertising week's mission is to galvanize the industry by creating an entertaining, enlightening and engaging platform for disparate parts of the business. Along the way, advertising week is a tangible force moving key industry goals around talent and diversity forward via generationext, advertising futures and a broad partnership with virtual enterprise.
Programs: In broad terms, there are two "categories" of organizational activity: internal (industry specific) and external (public orientation). All the activities tie directly to the objectives and fundamental mission of the project: to create and execute a promotional platform for the industry and to help foster the next generation of industry leaders via a series of talent & diversity initiatives. Under the heading of "internal", advertising week serves as a central conduit and clearinghouse for more than 30 other advertising and media trade associations who stage programs and events during advertising week. These run the gamut from the advertising education foundation panel honoring industry legends; to a multi-pronged program with the ad council around the issue of mobilizing communities in times of crisis. Advertising week plays a central role for these and many other industry initiatives, which leverage the platform the week affords to the public as needed or helpful. Advertising week also led the charge on a successful initiative to start a dedicated public high school with a special curricula in advertising & media in canarsie, brooklyn. Under the heading of "external" is a series of events, exhibitions and related activities which include a public ceremony honoring america's favorite advertising icons and slogans; public panels featuring leading industry luminaries at such venues as the times center and the paley center for media; live music acts with major national performers and a show featuring up and coming acts.
