Review for YWCA White Plains & Central Westchester Inc, White Plains, NY, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I am the Volunteer & Nonprofit Engagement Manager (sort of like a volunteer matchmaker!) at Volunteer New York!, and I love referring our volunteers to YWCA White Plains & Central Westchester's projects. Whether volunteers are teaching basic computer courses, donating essential supplies, collecting devices for the residents, or assisting with the Sisters' Closet, we appreciate the team's professionalism and the variety of their projects. Isabella in particular is delightful to work with! Thank you YWCA for keeping our volunteers engaged and for allowing us to connect with our neighbors in need to make our communities stronger.

Review for GiGis Playhouse Inc Westchester LLC, Ardsley, NY, USA

Rating: 5 stars   Featured Review

I work for Volunteer New York!, a nonprofit that helps connect volunteers to the local nonprofits that need them, and I LOVE sending volunteers to GiGi's Playhouse Westchester! Whether they're helping with one of the recreational programs or logging online as a literacy or math tutor, our volunteers and corporate teams always come back with the best stories about their experience. Thank you GiGi's Playhouse for doing such great work in raising awareness about Down syndrome and allowing our community members to take part in brightening the lives of young people with Down syndrome!

Review for Scarsdale Meals On Wheels Inc, Scarsdale, NY, USA

Rating: 5 stars

As the Volunteer & Nonprofit Engagement Manager for Volunteer New York!, I help volunteers find opportunities that they will love to do at local nonprofit organizations. We have a long friendship with Scarsdale Meals on Wheels, and I love referring volunteers there. Hunger is a real issue in our area and many people sadly don't know where their next meal will come from. Scarsdale Meals on Wheels does a fantastic job of engaging members of the community to step up and help deliver essential food to their neighbors in need. Thank you to Robin and everyone at Scarsdale Meals on Wheels for providing such a crucial service to our community!

Review for Westchester Library System, Elmsford, NY, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I'm thrilled that my organization (Volunteer New York!) is able to work with the Westchester Library System to engage volunteers in meaningful projects, such as tutoring adult learners, offering information sessions to seniors about important medical benefits, and the much-anticipated Battle of the Books event. Improving literacy skills and knowledge is critical to building a stronger and more informed community, and I can't think of a better place to accomplish that than with the local library system. Thank you for your tireless work as an accessible community center for people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds!

Review for Girls Incorporated Of Westchester County, White Plains, NY, USA

Rating: 5 stars

My organization, Volunteer New York!, helps connect volunteers to local nonprofits. Recently, I had the pleasure of facilitating a virtual project between members and staff of Girls Inc. with volunteers from a local corporation. The volunteers—all professional women in the science and engineering industry—got the chance to share their experiences with high school girls who are interested in pursuing careers in science and medicine.
I was blown away by the inspiring conversation between the volunteers and the girls, as well as by the incredible energy exuded by the Girls Inc. team. The staff empower the young women in their program to reach their full potential, and they have FUN while doing it! We laughed and danced and everyone had big smiles on their faces from start to finish.
I can't recommend this program enough whether you're a Westchester girl in grade school or a volunteer looking to support a nonprofit. Girls Inc., you rock!

Review for Westchester Parks Foundation Inc, White Plains, NY, USA

Rating: 5 stars

As the engagement manager for Volunteer New York!, I help recruit volunteers for other local nonprofits, and Westchester Parks Foundation is my go-to recommendation for families and corporate teams alike. Not only do our volunteers have a blast getting outdoors and helping the environment, but they have the opportunity to make new friends and to learn about their surroundings with the WPF's many park cleanups and other cool activities.
On my own time, I make sure to volunteer as part of the annual International Coastal Cleanup Day with WPF, and it's one of my favorite activities. Cleaning up local beaches—not to mention, weighing all that trash!—is so fulfilling, and I love seeing how much of an impact volunteers can make in just a few hours.
Special shoutout to Erin Cordiner for running one of the most well-organized and exciting volunteer programs around! I'm looking forward to the next park cleanup!

Review for United For The Troops, Mahopac, NY, USA

Rating: 5 stars

As the engagement manager for Volunteer New York!, I help match volunteers with projects at local nonprofits, and I'm always excited to refer do-gooders to United For the Troops. Jim and Patty are some of the most genuine and positive people I've ever worked with, and they truly go above and beyond to engage the community to make sure deployed troops and veterans at home alike receive the critical support they need.
We love helping United for the Troops host letter-writing projects throughout the year and especially during our annual 9/11 Serve + Remember community day of service; our volunteers absolutely love being able to show their appreciation for our brothers and sisters in uniform in creative and heartwarming ways!

Review for Alliance For Safe Kids Inc, Yorktown Heights, NY, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I work at Volunteer New York!, which helps recruit volunteers for local nonprofit organizations, and I'm so grateful to be able to call Alliance for Safe Kids both a partner and resource. ASK connects so many valuable—and essential—programs to its community members to ensure that local children and teens have the resources available to keep them healthy, safe, informed, and engaged. It's an honor to be able to collaborate on projects and to refer my volunteers to ASK's many incredible opportunities. Keep up the GREAT work!

Review for Pajama Program, Inc., New York, NY, USA

Rating: 5 stars

My nonprofit (Volunteer New York!) works with Pajama Program to find volunteers for its many wonderful activities. It's such an incredible organization with an important mission: to make sure all children feel they have a consistent, safe, and healthy home life. We've recruited volunteers for the Pajama Program's reading parties before, and it always makes our volunteers so happy to know they're helping young kids. A special kudos to Jyothi Nair for her dedication and partnership! I love working with this organization and can't recommend them enough!

Review for Mental Health Association Of Rockland County Inc, Vly Cottage, NY, USA

Rating: 5 stars

The Mental Health Association of Rockland County is a fantastic organization that serves Rockland residents with mental health challenges. I'm delighted to work with its Compeer Coordinator, Kathy Burns, to help promote its comprehensive Compeer Volunteer program. Kathy is a pleasure to work with, and the program is a wonderful way to give back to the community while investing in mental fitness!
