Review for SOROPTIMIST INTERNATIONAL OF HUNTINGTON BEACH, Huntington Beach, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I am entering my fifth year as a member of this great organization. Last year our membership soared by 25% as members in our community are learning about the fruits of our labor. Last year, we exceeded our goals in improving lives of women and girls in our community by adhering to our two signature programs: Dream it! Be It! and Live Your Dream! We conducted a 7-week career mentorship program to 30 high schools girls who, otherwise would not have experienced such an opportunity. We also awarded $10,000 in scholarships to 6 single moms, who are head of household and attending college. We have partnered with various other local organizations such as The Assistance League of Huntington Beach, C.A.R.E programs at Goldenwest College and Orange Coast College, Huntington Beach Senior Center, Collette's House and that's just to name a few. I am looking forward to another successful upcoming year as we increase our footprint in this community by helping other organizations who are in line with our mission.

Review for SOROPTIMIST INTERNATIONAL OF HUNTINGTON BEACH, Huntington Beach, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Soroptimist International of Huntington Beach (SIHB) is an organization whose mission statement is to improve lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment. In the fiscal year 2016 -2017, some of their activities/donations/service projects were 12 donations to various organization in Huntington Beach. These donation were made in cash as well as in items that the organizations needed. SIHB held at least 13 service projects to benefit various organizations in Orange County. They awarded 6 scholarships to students who fit the mission. SIHB's plan for the 2017 -2018 fiscal year is to exceed their 'giving' from last year. So far, the service projects are a diaper drive to benefit the C.A.R.E. programs at Goldenwest West and Orange Coast colleges, a donation of a scooter to an elderly person and a donation of a bed to an elderly person. This group of women are passionate about their work!!!!!
