Soroptimist International of Huntington Beach is a fantastic organization made up of talented, generous women. SIHB serves the local community both financially and emotionally and many prior recipients stay in touch with members. I am proud to be associated with SIHB.
Soroptimist International of Huntington Beach is highly involved in the Huntington Beach CA community. They offer a generous scholarship to single moms who are going to school and continuously support self-sufficiency for women in our community.
Soroptimist International of Huntington Beach is an awesome non-profit organization. We support so many different charities in HB and we have a ton of fun while doing it. I have been a member for many, many years and it is so exciting to be able to give back to our community in so many different ways. All the members are fantastic and all of the local charities that we support are so deserving and so clearly in need of the additional funding and hands on help that we provide.
I strongly encourage women to join this organization and I hope that local businesses will support us in the work that we do for the community.
I first learned about SIHB many years ago through another non-profit I was President of. SIHB has a program in which they adopt a local single parent family for a year. Most years it was a family from my other organization. Additionally, they have a Day of Self-Esteem for 20 low income women each spring. The majority of these women were again from my other organization. I got to know the wonderful, caring women of SIHB and wanted to be part of their group and great programs. I have now been a member for 4 years and love every minute.
Soroptimist International of Huntington Beach (SIHB) is an organization whose mission statement is to improve lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment. In the fiscal year 2016 -2017, some of their activities/donations/service projects were 12 donations to various organization in Huntington Beach. These donation were made in cash as well as in items that the organizations needed. SIHB held at least 13 service projects to benefit various organizations in Orange County. They awarded 6 scholarships to students who fit the mission. SIHB's plan for the 2017 -2018 fiscal year is to exceed their 'giving' from last year. So far, the service projects are a diaper drive to benefit the C.A.R.E. programs at Goldenwest West and Orange Coast colleges, a donation of a scooter to an elderly person and a donation of a bed to an elderly person. This group of women are passionate about their work!!!!!
This group helps women and girls locally and internationally. They're also a terrific group of ladies!
To watch a woman or young girl gain her power and her voice is an amazing thing. To work to improve the lives of women and girls both locally and throughout the world is my greatest passion and Soroptimist International of Huntington Beach gives me opportunities to live my passion. In addition, the women who are members of our club are phenomenal as well in their spirit of caring and sharing. I am proud to be a part of it!
Soroptimist International of Huntington Beach is an amazing organization! The women that are a part of this nonprofit organization work extremely hard to empower less fortunate women in our community. They have been instrumental in helping our low-income, single parents in our EOPS/CARE Program at Golden West College. The Dolly Wakeham and Live Your Dream Awards not only provide scholarship money, but also emotional support to the recipients. The organization is like an extended family of loving individuals who truly care for the betterment of others. Terry Rose has been a blessing to our students for many years. She has a heart of gold! Everyone in the EOPS/CARE/Guardian Scholars Program is truly grateful for her work and all the work of the committed women in Soroptimist!!
Soroptimists means Best for Women, and this organization is exemplary. The Huntington Beach Chapter is a small group of dedicated women that organize and support women's causes with no paid staff. Their small year-round fundraisers -- from beach walks with their dogs to Bunco nights and fashion shows -- support single mothers returning to schools, combat domestic violence and providing scholarships to exceptional young women throughout their lives. Local, regional and national meetings build camaraderie and lifelong friendships along the way.
I highly recommend this nonprofit organization. I have been involved with them for many years and the work that Soroptimist does, both locally and globally, makes a huge difference in the lives of women and children. One of our supported charities is "Project Self Sufficiency", which provides assistance to single mothers who are trying to make a better life for themselves. I have personally mentored many of these young women and seen them go on to get degrees at wonderful institutions AND go on to have great careers, many of them becoming involved in the helping professions themselves! Whenever we have one of our "moms" speak at a meeting, there are tears and huge applause - these women have been through so much and have struggled to survive, but they power through and keep plugging away so that their children's lives will be better. I am so inspired by the women we help through Project Self Sufficiency and this is just one of many philanthropic organizations that Soroptimist of Huntington Beach provides assistance for.
I have been very appreciative of all the good work that SIHB does for women and children and have also been very grateful to belong to an organization of such wonderful women who are all gathering together for friendship and service.
