Absolutely five stars! I had started my career working as a lawyer in a Dallas law firm. When I came here I had not worked for years. These people gave me confidence where confidence was much needed! Thank you for helping me with my resume Brenda.

I've had the pleasure of volunteering for WHW for almost 15 years. I began my "volunteer career" as a Personal Shopper working with the ladies to find the perfect work apparel. I also became very engaged with their Funding Raising Committee chairing multiple luncheons and galas and helping with their annual Silent Auction and Fashion Show. In 2008 I assisted with the grand opening of Deja New, WHW's re-sale store. The absolute most fun was volunteering at the Quarterly Saturday Sales. These sales were well attended and was a good revenue stream for WHW. When they moved to Irvine, they were able to expand Deja New and didn't require Saturday Sales any longer. Deja New is a great gem, so shop there whenever you have an opportunity.
It has been such an honor to be associated with WHW over the years and to see the expansion of their programs and the people that they have empowered. When I first started to volunteer, WHW only supported Women in their Apparel Program and Job Opportunities. They have now expanded to support Men, Teens and Veterans with business apparel, comprehensive job support, computer skills training, mock interviews and job placement.
Another opportunity to support WHW is through their Club 259. Originally this program was conceived to pay for the cost to support one client. However, since all the programs have significantly expanded, so have the costs to support them. So Please join!!
A non-profit organization like WHW cannot be successful, expand their programs and client base without strong leadership. I've had the privilege over the years to work and learn from the greatest; Jeanne Flint, Brateil Aghasi, Janie Wolicki-Best and now Trina Fleming. With Trina at the helm along with her management team, I'm looking forward to seeing even greater success for WHW. THANK YOU for the privilege of working with you!!
There are plenty of opportunities to volunteer and support WHW, just give them a call..

WHW has been a lifesaver! I first discovered them in Fall of 2016. I have not only worked with them taking most of their classes to get my job, but I have become a donor, speaker at several of their donor events and enjoy shopping and donating at Deja Nu. The staff are amazingly kind and compassionate and I have stayed in touch with them. ANYONE looking for a job in the OC area, these people are the ones that will help you and support you!

WHW has provided the guidance and encouragement to continue my job search through a career transition and a pandemic. Initially, I came to WHW for a free suit for job interviews.
However, I discovered that WHW also offers an abundance of workshops to improve my job searching abilities.

The workshops helped me develop a better idea of what I wanted next. I decided that a career transition was what I wanted. WHW helped me craft my message. They also partnered with an organization that offered me an internship. Most of all, the volunteers and staff at WHW provide empathy, support, and a safe space to talk about my experiences in my job search.

I always feel uplifted after a visit to WHW or after I attend an online workshop. The facilitators do a phenomenal job to not only deliver the content of the workshop, but also to include the participants in a collaborative experience. I feel lucky to have found WHW and very grateful for their assistance in my career transition.

WHW gives you the confidence, skills and support to get into a great job!! They go that extra mile (or 10 miles) to help you determine your dream job, tailor your resume or LINKEDIN profile, learn new skills, brush up on interviewing, and learn from others who are in jobs you'd like to do. Brenda and David have made job sessions packed with tips and even during COVID have continued to bring in new content and support. PIMCO, Capital Group and Citizen Business Bank have been generous companies supporting job seekers as well. Thank you WHW and partners!

I was referred to WHW thinking it was some kind of mistake. I thought for sure it was only for women. Well the moment I walked into their door I was assured that they are available to assist anyone! I was amazed at the amount of resources available. I took the introductory class which reviewed all available resources...which are ever growing. Even a tour of the impressive facility was part of the introduction. So much is there to assist people like myself who were seeking new employment. I immediately made use of some of the classes which I felt would make me a better qualified candidate for a variety of positions. Excel, Microsoft Office skills, resume critique, mock interviews and much more all helped me to land interviews. The skills and assistance I have gained, as well as the guidance of the professionals at WHW helped me to get the interview with more than one of my top choices to work for. Special thanks to Brenda Walters, as she helped make it easy...even virtually during the pandemic.

WHW has been very helpful in educating me on how to navigate the challenging process of looking for a job. After 31 years, my job was eliminated and I was suddenly put in the position of seeking employment. Through WHW's informative webinars, I've been able to understand the various steps that are required to search and hopefully gain a job. I appreciate WHW's staff and volunteers who have been very warm and caring in my interactions with them.
I'm grateful for all WHW's services and have recommended them to anyone seeking employment.

Without a doubt, WHW's core team is the source of "goodness" that helps WHW continuously stay focused on it's primary mission, providing job seekers with the skills and resources needed to get and keep a good job at no charge. To supplement the strong core, WHW has developed strong ties to local corporate partners, which helps to ensure WHW has the resources it needs to continuously deliver these valuable services. The opportunity to directly engage as a corporate partner with WHW (through a community service impact day) serves to further strengthen our partnership and hopefully WHW's continued success in carrying out it's mission.

I've been volunteering with WHW since 2016 and have loved each interaction. I loved what they were doing to empower women by helping them rejoin the work force. Many of the women they helped were coming out of difficult situations and it felt good to participate in a process that brought positive energy into their lives. When Women Helping Women became WHW and started providing support to men as well I was even more impressed because now they are able to impact even more people. What I loved best is that WHW is right in my community. Whether it's a clothing drive or volunteering at the WHW facility, I feel a part of something special. WHW is an amazing organization that is doing great work.

As a homeless grandparent, who first entered the doors of WHW on my 60th birthday in 2019, I came in expecting to receive information about a vocational program offered at a local community college. However, after meeting with Brenda Walters for an in-depth intake, I left as committed new client. WHW was a rock of support during that difficult season of my life.
The workshops, 1:1 Microsoft Suite training, CISSP textbook, and other resources helped to catapult my young granddaughter and I out of homelessness.

I will be forever grateful to WHW for their dedicated and caring support.

I am proud to support WHW as they work tirelessly to lift up everyone in our community by helping people find the right job for them. The concept of giving people a hand up, not a hand out helps to create sustainable change for individuals who are willing to invest the time to find the right job. By creating an environment that supports and challenges its constituents, WHW prepares their clients for a career rather than just another job.

As an organization, WHW has strong leadership team and dedicated staff that is constantly adapting and improving to make the most out of the resources they have. And I am sure they will only continue to build upon their success in the future. Keep up the great work, WHW!

I have been volunteering for Women Helping Women for 15 years, serving as both Vice President and President of the Board of Directors. I currently serve as Chair of the Advisory Board of Directors. I’ve watched WHW grow from a small organization focused on providing clothing for women looking for jobs, to becoming a thriving organization providing comprehensive job support services to both men and women. I am impressed year after year on how they run their organization with such a lean, hard-working staff and continue to serve so many job-seekers in desperate need of jobs. Now more than ever during the pandemic, WHW is in a unique position to change people’s lives by assisting those who lost their jobs due to Covid-19. Recently, my daughters and their cousins – through their philanthropy club CA Kids Giving Back – held an event to raise money and donations for WHW. WHW’s CEO Trina Fleming took time out of her day to come personally thank the children. WHW’s CEO cares not only about making WHW a great non-profit, but she cares about teaching children about philanthropy and supporting their efforts. WHW is a wonderful non-profit, with an extremely caring staff, and I’m honored and privileged to be able to volunteer for WHW.

My relationship with WHW began as a shopper in their Deja New store. When I learned about their fabulous programs to serve unemployed and underemployed men & women - I immediately wanted to contribute my skills and experiences. I serve as a workshop facilitator and present programs to encourage and support clients with their job search. The staff are responsive and eager to explore new ideas & opportunities to better serve clients. And the clients are eager and responsive to the information and advice I shared. Overall, it is an empowering environment that truly embodies its mission to empower employment success.

Just recently I had the opportunity to experience and witness first hand how amazing this organization is and what an impact it has made in many people's life. I first learned of WHW back in 2016 when I myself was struggling and in need of professional clothing for my interviews, at the time that is all I utilized as far as their services but was aware of the many different opportunities they offered such as Employment Readiness Workshops and Computer Training Workshops. This year I had the chance to volunteer my time within the organization 3 months to be exact I worked alongside some of the most genuine people! Volunteering at WHW was one of the best decisions I made, everyone that came into this organizations was always friendly and professional that includes all the Staff, Job Seekers, Volunteers and Interns.

I am grateful that WHW gave me the opportunity to volunteer and learn how a Non Profit Organization works. As a volunteer I helped in many areas from the front desk to helping as a resume coach working alongside the Program Manger on special projects for the workshops to assisting the Operations Assistant and Office Assistant with their daily tasks. WHW is definitely an organization I would recommend to everyone and anyone! I cannot tell you how proud I am to support this organization.

Thank you WHW!

I wish I knew about this place sooner! It’s amazing how such organization exists without government’s help.

Not only they take care of people in need of brushing up their skills to go back to work but also they help with education of new technologies, preparing resume, dressing up for interview and much more.
I know going back to work after a gap is not an easy task specially with new growing technologies and WHW has thought of every step to help out the community.
My story, I had to take a break from work and go back to school to continue my education so I thought in my spare time I’d help out my community. I reached out and found WHW. All I can say is they are the best! I’m so proud & honored to say I have volunteered there to and I am hoping to do more.
P.S. I have experienced such a kindness and care with Mr. David Vevia, WHW’s program manager. He was so welcoming and available to answer any question and all together a great help . He was there in every step of the way so I could do my volunteer job .
wish them all the best.

I have been a volunteer stylist for two years, helping clients select their interview outfit and learn how to present themselves to prospective employers with confidence. I have also observed the class on "7 Seconds to Impress" and find the counsel provided to be excellent, and everyone that has been through the styling process as well as the class leave buoyed and have a new perspective as well as a professional outfit. Their whole countenance changes in the process of an hour as they see themselves with renewed confidence and hope for the future.

I have been a volunteer at WHW since 2000. I am a personal stylist as well as a resume coach and it gives me so much pleasure to see the clients improve their lives as they are supported by this great organization. WHW provides free employment services to the clients, including computer classes, job interview preparedness, confidence boosters, etc. I enjoy seeing the transformation that takes place when clients take advantage of the classes that are offered. I am a personal stylist who readies our clients for job interviews. It is one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. Many of our clients have touched my heart but none so much as a gentle giant of a man recently released from prison. Due to his size, he was sure that we would not have anything to fit him. We were, however, able to completely outfit him with a suit, shirt, ties and shoes. He stared at himself in the mirror with awe. He had never seen himself looking like this. He asked if he could wear his new clothing back to the shelter. I was delighted that he wanted to do so. He took my hand and said that he felt that he had been reborn. At that point we both started to cry.

As I begin my twelfth year of volunteering with WHW, I am continually reminded about and excited to reflect on the tremendous growth that has occurred. From the small "storefront" in Costa Mesa to the lovely building we now enjoy, the efforts of so many are obvious! When I began, I, too, was a victim of a layoff after many years with a law firm, but I was fortunate to be able to devote my efforts to volunteering in special places rather than have to look for work. There have been many changes, but the overwhelming spirit of dedication and empowerment have led to continuing success. I have made many close friends among the volunteers and received so much joy from helping others to continue their forward progress that the years have gone very quickly. Nothing matches the delighted faces of people who have received clothing of which they are proud and feel empowered and lifted from their struggles! Along with the valuable training offered, those who come to WHW definitely receive a new lease on life!

I came to WHW after a long career in the legal field where I had both personal and work-related experiences with many non-proifts. Although it is difficult to have to depend greatly on donations from the public, I feel that WHW does a remarkable job in securing clothing and accessories to help ensure that its clients present the best image possible when attempting to improve their circumstances. The volunteers make a determined effort to put together the best possible composite (clothing, accessories, reinforcement of positive attitudes, etc.) for both men and women, and the very talented and likable staff complete the circle by providing information and training to add to or improve the skills of clients. Wardrobing is an important part of the process, but the overall successful product is made possible by the many opportunities for self-improvement which are available at WHW. The volunteers receive tremendous pleasure from the change in demeanor and self-confidence of clients which results from the many positive experiences and encouragement at WHW, and it is most rewarding to see the ongoing expansion and improvement of services offered to those in need. There is nothing better than hearing a client say, "Now i feel that I can do it!"

Came to WHW back in September 2017 while in the midst of being unemployed and being in an abusive relationship, which led to a major depressive episode. I love literally everything about this organization! The classes and group discussions were always super helpful in addition to the rest of the resources they offer. If I had to select the number #1 thing that helped me the most in my job search, it would be support staff that work here. They were always encouraging and rooting for you to rock an interview and hopefully get a job offer. Thanks to them, I got a job offer within 3 months of going to their workshops. Not only that, but I finally managed to get myself out of my abusive relationship less than a month after starting my new job. Thank you WHW! I came to WHW in 2015 when the office was located in Santa Ana, I was able to take some classes then. I decided to go back to school instead of working at that time. Fast forward to 2018 I was done with school and needed help on how to find a job. I remembered WHW and how helpful they were back in 2015. I decided to go back to WHW, I took as many classes as I could. The one that helped me the most was Mastering the Interview. It taught me how to tell someone about me. It also gave great insight on possible questions that an interview would ask. I went over these questions until I was able to answer with confidence but not sound like a memorized answer. I said them in the mirror and watched my expressions. I eventually got enough confidence to be recorded and of course have it be erased, of a mock interview. WHW is the place to go if you are unemployed or underemployed. They help you even with professional clothing.

I believe my story is not different from any one person's story when you're unemployed. It is a struggle. I started to second guess myself with feeling I did not have value...

I was employed for 20 years with the same firm. Everyday was met with purpose. Then, I resigned because my workplace was mentally and physically taking a toll on me. I was met with an unfamiliar landscape. I had not looked for a job in many years. No longer do you apply for jobs with paper, no longer do you get to speak to a person... Everything is now electronically processed and done online. I was LOST.

In my job search, I was introduced to WHW. I was not aware of what they had to offer. I attended a workshop on how to build a resume. When a person walks through their doors, you are greeted with people who are sincere and genuinely wanted to help. I felt no judgment on their part. For the first time in months, their volunteers had me feeling like I mattered. I did not have to be alone. I started to believe in myself again. I am so impressed with how this organization is run. I am so thankful for their staff and volunteers.

I originally got involved with WHW while in transition from a highly specialized technical position I held for just under 15 years. Their program was perfect for what I needed: they helped me cope with the loss of my "beloved career," their extremely knowledgeable staff and volunteers helped me give my professional image the overhaul it needed; they helped me with make my resume current to job seeker trends; they helped me with my interview skills; they helped me with fresh job leads from their extensive network of partners.

What a great experience! It was such a pleasure working with them and everyone involved in their programs that it made me want to give back, seeking volunteer opportunities and helping to spread the word!

Not only does WHW help clients build resumes, prepare for interviews and search for employment opportunities, they empower their clients to find and keep jobs. This is not an organization that gives handouts---rather, WHW wants people to believe in themselves and to put in the work that is needed to be a valuable member of the community. It has been my honor and privilege to volunteer at WHW leading the Top Performer Coaching Program. WHW is well run by warm and authentic people who are not only passionate about the work they do but they’re also enthusiastic about how they serve their clients. Always leading by example and open to new ideas they’re ready to roll up their sleeves for any task. What they offer is more than attitude, it’s an intention that each employee of WHW comes with… an intention to make each client they serve and each program they run something special. And it’s infectious; just being at WHW makes me feel special. WHW clients become infected too with the unique WHW brand of authenticity, leadership and love. So much so that you can typically find clients volunteering on their way to transforming their lives. I look forward to each Top Performer Coaching session because I get far more than I give.

If I could volunteer here everyday, I would! WHW provides a positive and encouraging environment for their clients; and appreciates and recognizes the efforts of their volunteers. It's always an uplifting experience to be with the staff, clients and other volunteers at WHW. They make a BIG difference in the lives of those they serve! And, I love sharing their mission with others. Everyone has too much in their closet! I regularly remind friends and relatives to clean out their closets and donate to this worthy cause! If you are looking for a place where you can make a BIG difference with just a couple hours of your time, join us at WHW!

I love volunteering at WHW because the program is empowering, and impactful for women who have experienced unemployment and underemployment. The opportunity to give a hand up to women who need a good job to support themselves and their families is a gift.
Prior to joining WHW as a volunteer 3+ years ago, I searched for an organization that was as driven by metrics and compassion as I am. When I walked through the doors of WHW, I knew that this is just such an organization.
If you are looking for support in your job search, or want to give back to the community, I believe that WHW is the right place for you. Join us!

I first found out about WHW on Facebook. I decided to come in to their orientation and everyone was very friendly. I have since taken advantage of their classes which are very informative! They also got me in touch with the right people and provided me with two suits for my interviews. I love the extra things they setup for us such as the Sephora event where we had the opportunity to learn how to apply makeup and take some goodies home.
Thank you WHW! You're the best!

Before (and after!) I retired, I donated clothing to this amazing organization. I learned of them via the local newspaper, and, once I had some free time, asked if they had a volunteer program. HA! I was immediately invited into the Assistant Director's office, given an application and a "job interview", and signed up. When asked what I would be interested in, I said, "whatever you need--I just want to help." I was expecting to iron, sew buttons, sort clothing, or other necessary task. Instead,no doubt because I taught for 35 years, I was asked to write curriculum for 4 classes, including job preparation, resume writing, mock interviews, and "what to know before you go". I have been teaching for WHW ever since--and that was seven years ago! What a gift. Working with the amazing staff and dedicated volunteers, meeting and working with clients, helping with the Saturday sales--I have received much more than I have given, believe me. This organization is dynamite. If you need help, call WHW.

I've had the pleasure of volunteering as a Personal Shopper and Donation Outreach Ambassador at WHW for two years. And, I love my job! I've done all sorts of volunteering for my kid's schools and community groups over the years -- was even employed by a nonprofit working with major donors. But, my experience at WHW is very different from anything I've done before because it's working directly with the recipients of the gifts. I have the privilege of seeing the end result! And, I always get more than I give in a 2-hours shift! It's inspiring to hear about the difficulties unemployed clients have faced and overcome to get their lives back on track. And, they are so grateful -- not only for the outfits they receive; but for the encouragement and individual attention we give them to make them look their very best. I love having the opportunity to work side-by-side with the unemployed and under employed so they can get and keep a good job! I'm grateful for my friendship with WHW Program Director Robyn Williams for informing me about this amazing organization and bringing me on board!

WHW is a Great organization that truly embraces giving back!
I was looking for a way to give back to the community when I found an article about WHW in the OC register. I was so impressed with their charter that I called to find out how I could get involved. Lizet scheduled an orientation for the following week. She and Yesenia made the learning process easy and helped me to feel right at home. I shadowed an experienced volunteer, until I felt comfortable, then was off and running on my own.
I have always taken pride in dressing for the next role I hoped to achieve in the corporate world, and knew I would be able to help other men and women do the same to get started on their own path to success. Pride in yourself, and how you look is the first step to how others will perceive you for that all important interview and first impression.

The mission behind this nonprofit is amazing and being an intern there I can attest to their genuine care and attention they take for everyone. All the staff, volunteers, and other interns are really welcoming and fun to work with. During my time as an intern I was able to assist in various areas within the organization and I really learned a lot about the nonprofit sector which I was unfamiliar about. One of the things I really liked about interning at WHW was that every time I would come in it would be different so it was not tedious for me. I started volunteering at WHW/M2W over a year ago. It began as an internship, like many others, and as a way to help others with my fashion merchandising knowledge. It soon became something I enjoyed more than my major and has ignited a passion for helping others and working in nonprofit. Not only am I able to make a difference in other people's lives, but I feel I get so much more back in the appreciation I am shown by clients and staff, as well as getting to be around such friendly and helpful people in a positive environment. It is like a little haven of happiness that I look forward to going to each week. They also do so much more than give people outfits. They give computer training, resume building workshops, interview practice, and hope and encouragement.

Our goal is to help each client have the skills and confidence needed to end up with a job. Many of the women receive clothes suitable for an interview as most of the women we help are seeking jobs. When women come to Women Helping Women they are provided with a personal shopper that helps them pick out the right clothes that are comfortable and well fitting for each woman. When women leave they are so thankful for what they have received and also feeling confident with what Women Helping Women has provided them with, will help brighten their future. Women Helping Women also runs many other events throughout the year such as outfitting and sending teen girls to Prom as well as many other fundraising events.

WHW is a great place to volunteer because of both the clients and the staff. The staff have always made me feel like more than a volunteer and that we were part of a team trying to make a difference. The clients are wonderful and they always appreciate the work you put in to picking out the perfect outfit. I am an aspiring physician and I first volunteered at WHW, so I can do something related to clothing which I always loved. I have continued to volunteer since 2009 because not only have I am been able to use my fashionista side, but I have learned a lot about myself and helping others.

As a personal shopper working with women, I've had an amazing time with them. They are so open to all we have to offer, from the resume writing to the wardrobe services. I've actually had a client drop off donations and hug me and tell me that I helped them with their job/career. It's an incredible feeling.

With over 20 years of experience working with non-profits in staff and volunteer capacities, it is important to partner with an organization that truly shapes positive change in the lives of those in need in a purposeful and meaningful way. After careful research, I learned that WHW (Women Helping Women/Men 2 Work) definitely "walks the talk" with their aim to empower disadvantaged job seekers with skills to achieve employment success. WHW's inside out approach meets people where they are, and provides relevant programs that build confidence and tangible capabilities. Their staff and core of volunteers are compassionate, dedicated and enthusiastic. Their humble and graceful demeanor make them a gem within the local community. I am amazed by what is achieved with their clear focus and disciplined management of resources, and I am privileged to serve alongside them as a committed partner in the process. Their myriad of programs and services offer a wealth of opportunities for involvement personally or financially. At a time when there are so many things competing for our time and attention, WHW's no nonsense approach offers a quick, lean and simple way to support the employment success of job seekers who want to secure a better future for themselves and their loved ones.

I searched for a non-profit earlier this year to become a board member. I chose WHW for many reasons. I'm so impressed with the work they do to assist those in need of wardrobe and in providing the skills to write a resume, interview effectively and find quality vacant positions. The CEO and Executive Director is so committed and talented. She has the skills and knowledge of a great leader and she will ensure the organization stays on the path which it promises. The personal shoppers really help instill confidence in their clients. We have many plans this year and it is exciting see them come to fruition.

I donate my professional clothing to WHW. I've been doing this for years, and I finally took the time to take a tour. Wow! It's an amazing place. WHW really does give jobseekers a hand up and help them to be the best candidate for the job they are seeking. I also learned that 89 cents of every dollar goes directly to programs. You can't beat that!
