Review for GREY2K USA Worldwide, Arlington, MA, USA
I have been rescuing greyhounds since 1992. I have been behind the scenes at tracks, breeding and training farms and in the kennels where these dogs are housed. No person would ever treat their beloved companion animal the way these dogs are treated. They are purely a commodity to the dog racing industry. Make no mistake in believing all these dogs receive daily massages and whirlpool baths. These dogs are expendable - when one breaks down or gets too slow, there are plenty more waiting in the wings to take that dog's place.
Breeder/trainers/owner of racing greyhounds are not concerned about longevity, thus the genetic pool has been contaminated with genes that cause cancer and all sorts of other diseases. This has been proven in a study by one of the world's foremost experts on racing greyhounds, Dr. Guillermo Couto. His findings were published, and specifically stated racing greyhounds are at a higher risk of cancer due to breeding purely for speed. AKC greyhounds do NOT have the same high rate of cancer as those registered through the NGA (National Greyhound Association) for racing.
GREY2K USA understands the only way to protect these greyhounds is to end racing. This organization is committed to their mission, as are those of us who have seen the death, pain and suffering of greyhounds we rescue.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Give them more of my time and money to expedite their mission of shutting down the dog racing industry.

Review for GREY2K USA Education Fund, Arlington, MA, USA
Having been involved in greyhound rescue since 1992 and seeing the abuse and neglect so common in the dog racing industry, I was thrilled to see the formation of GREY2K USA in the late nineties. These dogs need advocates to help end their suffering. I knew long ago that we needed to start educating people about the plight of the racing greyhound. The work GREY2K USA Education Fund has so successfully introduced is proving to be one of the most effective programs in teaching children the importance of kindness to animals. Thanks to GREY2K USA Education Fund, children across the country are learning exploitation of animals is the opposite of compassion.

Review for Animal Protection New Mexico, Albuquerque, NM, USA
Animal Protection of New Mexico (APNM) is one of those rare organizations that fulfills their stated mission on every level. Thanks to APNM, New Mexico has one of the best advocacy organizations legislating to protect wild and domestic animals that otherwise would have no voice.

Review for GREY2K USA Education Fund, Arlington, MA, USA
GREY2KUSA has done more to protect racing greyhounds than any organization devoted to the goal of ending the suffering and killing of greyhounds. All animal lovers would be proud of the accomplishments of this esteemed group. I've been rescuing greyhounds since 1992 and have seen the worst of what the shameful dog racing industry can do to a magnificent creature. Without the efforts of GREY2KUSA and others who support their work, abuse and killing would still be the hideous secret of an industry that has no defense for what they do to make a buck.
