The work of GREY2K USA Worldwide continues to grow, combatting dog racing across the globe. It is such an honor to be part of this wonderful non-profit campaign.
A fraud of an organisation who spread lies and propaganda to drum up donations and havent helped a single greyhound. Avoid like the plague.
This is a sham "review" by a dog racing supporter, placed here as part of an orchestrated campaign to post negative comments.
Grey2K does nothing to help retired racers after they have racing banned, they are in it for the money only , they are scam artists and dont deserve any donations and should be put out of business, they lie and are deceitful by admitting it themselves
This is a sham "review" by a dog racing supporter, and has no basis in fact whatsoever. It was posted here as part of an orchestrated campaign to post negative comments.
Grey 2 k is the biggest scam perpetrated on the greyhound racing industry they have made millions in donations spreading lies and demonizing hard working Americans ... yet have never helped an American greyhound once !! Because the racing industry is supported by nearly 400 adoption groups nation wide ... that bend over back wards for this wonderful breed grey2k has scammed millions off the back of the greyhound industry yet no greyhound has ever benefited from it !!
This is a sham "review" by a dog racing supporter, placed here as part of an orchestrated campaign to post negative comments. It has no basis in fact whatsoever. It's actually a testament to our effectiveness that the dog racing industry feels the need to game the system like this.
Grey2K does nothing to help the breed and as an organization they will destroy a healthy and vibrant breed of dog. They have never worked in a kennel nor on a farm and their experience in not firsthand.
Grey2K's connections to PETA, the HSUS and ALF are well known, but not known by the people that donate to them.
This is a sham "review" by a dog racing supporter, placed here as part of an orchestrated campaign to post negative comments. Every factual statement is false, except for the comment that we have worked with the Humane Society of the United States. That's true, just as we have worked with the ASPCA and every major animal protection group. They collaborate with us because we're effective.
Grey2K does nothing for the greyhounds. Grey2K is against the Smith Greyhound Safety Bill in Florida. This bill would require injury reporting, have the tracks install a breakaway lure and cover the live rail to help stop greyhounds from getting electrocuted.
Now grey2K will come on here tell you that the track at Palm Beach has installed the covering on the rail and a dog still got electrocuted there and that is true. However, instead of donating money to try and find a way to cover the rail in a spot that was still exposed, Grey2K wants to leave the whole rail exposed so anywhere on the track that a dog or person might come in contact with the rail will get electrocuted.
When I said person I wasn't kidding. A worker at the Woodlands track in Kansas dropped a tool on the other side of the rail and as he reached over he touched the live part of the rail and was electrocuted.
Grey2K may tell you they didn't know about the worker, but they do because I have mentioned it before on forums they read.
So don't you have to wonder why a group that tells you they are all about protecting the greyhounds, doesn't?
As a follow up to Carey's post
Carey that isn't what you said in this article.
But executive director Carey Theil of the Boston-based non-profit Grey2K USA, promoting greyhound protection, says the Greyhound Safety Act Cory is backing is not the way to go. Theil's organization supports Senate Bill 2 and greyhound injury reporting in general.
It's like you supported Rep. Young's bill that was for expanded gambling and casinos in Florida, but in Massachusetts you are aligned with Repeal the Casino Deal.
This "review" was posted by a well-known greyhound breeder, as part of an organized campaign to lower our review score on GreatNonprofits. His claim that oppose the Florida "Greyhound Safety Act" is nonsense. This measure was filed this year by Senator Chris Smith and Representative Kevin Rader. Here is the thank you note that Representative Rader sent GREY2K USA a few weeks ago, thanking us for our support of his bill: http://grey2kusa.org/pdf/Rep.%20Rader%20Version1.pdf
Greyhound advocacy group Grey2K USA Worldwide works tirelessly to protect greyhounds, to raise awareness of the horrors of dog racing and to campaign for the end of dog racing altogether. The board, staff and volunteers share a passion for and commitment to these goals. The scope of their work includes the welfare of greyhounds still trapped within the dog racing industry and extends to facilitating the rescue of greyhounds from tracks via adoption.
Since 2001, Grey2K has championed stricter laws concerning the care of racing greyhounds in states where racing is still legal. They’ve shined a spotlight on inhumane practices once rampant on tracks and in kennels. Grey2K impelled state legislatures to enact laws concerning what the greyhounds are fed, limits on the amount of time they’re kept in crates each day and the conditions under which they’re made to race. Grey2K proved instrumental in strengthening the penalties against track operators found liable for injuries sustained on the track, as well as against dog owners and handlers who abused their greyhounds off the track. Grey2K’s unwavering effort to expose the barbaric treatment of greyhounds has brought once secret practices out into the open. Those who formerly mistreated their racing dogs without fear of consequence must now answer to a public that’s increasingly aware and disapproving of this behavior.
Between 2001 and 2018, Grey2K played a major part in convincing the voters or legislatures in seven states to outlaw dog racing. In those states where racing remains legal, Grey2K’s influence proved instrumental in closing down several tracks. As of 2019, dog racing remains legal in only five states due in large part to the determination and dedication of Grey2K’s board, staff and volunteers. Its most recent US success was the 2018 ballot question by which Florida voters chose to end dog racing by 2021. Beyond the US, Grey2K spent years campaigning vigorously to close down China’s most notorious racetrack, the infamous Macau Canidrome. Its 2018 closure gained freedom for hundreds of greyhounds and prevented the future suffering of untold numbers of dogs. Grey2K continues its work to bring about similar change here in the US as well as abroad. Grey2K’s commitment to improving the lives of greyhounds and its compassion for these unfortunate creatures drive Grey2K to work continuously on behalf of the greyhounds.
Grey2K USA protects greyhounds. Their work has resulted in the elimination of greyhound racing in some states while ensuring greater protections for the greyhounds in the states where racing is still legal. By shedding light on the practices of the racing industry, Grey2K USA makes people aware of the need for stricter laws regulating the treatment of racing greyhounds.
Thanks for your review Leon!
I applaud the work of GREY2K USA Worldwide. What a committed, determined group. I recommend them highly and predict that they will succeed in ending dog racing on a global basis.
We appreciate your support very much! Christine Dorchak, President, GREY2K USA Worldwide
I love dogs and I love this group! I cannot recommend them enough.
Thanks for your support! Christine Dorchak, President, GREY2K USA Worldwide
Amazing group that works to end dog racing world wide and has racked up the victories over the years to prove how good they are
I've worked with GREY2K for over six years on many different projects and campaigns. What continues to impress me about this organization is the professional way they comport themselves and address the work they have chosen. The best way to represent your side of the story is to state the facts and back it up with examples of the issues you are combating. All the people working at GREY2K focus on this with laser precision. It is their goal to get the information out and let it speak for itself. For this reason I give GREY2K the highest rating for ethics, for professionalism and for the compassion they bring to this work.
Thanks for your review Jay. It has been an honor to stand with you and fight for greyhounds.
There is no other group of folks that work as hard as the folks at GREY2K . No one has accomplished as much as this group, in one year they saved 8,500 dogs from the horrors of dog racing. Thank you.
Thanks for your support! Christine Dorchak, President, GREY2K USA Worldwide
GREY2K USA Worldwide is composed of the hardest working folks I have ever known. When I contribute my precious funds, I can rest easy knowing that my money will get results for the racing dogs. They are extremely motivated and smart. Thank you.
Thanks for helping us to make this cruel industry disappear around the world, Connie! Christine Dorchak, Esq. President, GREY2K USA Worldwide
The team at GREY2K USA Worldwide combines hard work, organizational savvy, political acumen and local organizing to accomplish their mission of ending the barbaric practice of greyhound racing. After their efforts have closed a track, they work with local and international activists to ensure that every dog freed from pain and torture finds a good home where they can live a healthy and loved life.
Thanks for being part of our team! Christine Dorchak, President, GREY2K USA Worldwide
The work that Grey2K USA Worldwide did during the Florida campaign to end greyhound racing was tireless, effective and crucial to victory for these innocent dogs. No question was too minor to be answered, no concern too small to follow up on. Their organizational abilities and their commitment to telling the truth about greyhound racing was a big factor, if not the biggest in freeing greyhounds from the daily suffering they endure in racing gulags.
Thank you for being a treasured member of our team, Fred!
Tertullian said “The first reaction to truth is hatred” and you can certainly see that in the virulence of the reaction to Grey 2K from members of the greyhound racing industry. Grey 2K was substantially responsible for ending greyhound racing in Massachusetts; they have been involved in campaigns to end the cruelty of greyhound racing from Arizona to Florida, and have been successful. They constantly shine the light of public awareness on an industry that treats living, sentient creatures as commodities to be used and discarded. It's no wonder they've made enemies, but the enemies they've made are fighting to maintain a brutish industry built on brutality and one that, thanks to the efforts of Gery 2K is slowly moving to the ash heap of history.
Thanks for the review!
I am grateful for GREY2K USA Worldwide for fighting endlessly to save greyhounds around the world, and in particular for raising awareness of the plight of the Macau Canidrome greyhounds, a track that killed roughly 18,000 greyhounds over 5 decades for being too slow, sick or injured. Little did I know that this campaign would forever change my life.
When international pressure finally forced the Canidrome to shut down on July 21st 2018 leaving 532 abandoned greyhounds behind, my heart led me to Macau to help. A brave seven year battle to close the track led by the now legendary Albano Martins of Anima Macau to whom these dogs owe their lives, alongside partners GREY2K USA Worldwide and the Italian association Pet Levrieri, had been won against all odds.
The next daunting task lay ahead: to air lift the survivors to safety and into loving homes.
GREY2K asked for my help in photographing Brooklyn for their newsletter, the poster child for the Save the Macau Greyhounds campaign, who had long been thought to be dead. Pet Levrieri asked me to character assess 50 of the greyhounds and photograph 76 of the dogs heading to Europe and the UK for their bios.
I quickly realized that while everyone thought these dogs were now safe, they were not safe at all. Their only chance of survival was to get them all out as quickly as possible. The deadline to accomplish this enormous task had originally been September of 2019. It was shortened by the government to March 2019. Thanks to GREY2K, Anima and Pet Levrieri it was miraculously achieved!
For many shifts during my 14 days there, I was the only volunteer and felt completely alone and distraught. I burst into tears so many times witnessing what these gentle souls had to endure. Dark, wet, concrete cells with decrepit rusty, sharp bars. Greyhounds lying on the cement floor with open wounds from lack of soft bedding and some without any bed at all. Greyhounds very underweight, with rotting teeth, some with mouths full of blood. Their only stimulation other than 2 meals and 2 short walks a day was chewing on their metal bars or scratching on the wall. Greyhounds with scars, ragged coats and red raw feet as their cells and the pavement for their walks were never dry. There were many old ones, who had somehow survived this living hell. And the adorable young ones still full of life who were born in their cells. Greyhounds being rough handled, hit on their walks and dragged along while trying to pee. A worker who thought I was too soft demonstrating how to grab one out of her cell, as if she were some sort of wild beast.
What I witnessed at the Canidrome will haunt me for the rest of my life. But I will be forever deeply touched by the light of those gentle greyhounds who were the kindest creatures, and their unconditional love. So starved for affection and a kind word, yet showering me with more love than I could ever return. So willing to forgive, despite the heavy hand of abuse they had suffered their whole lives. So resilient and ready to move on, as shown by all of the stories and photos shared by the families who have given them a forever home.
I will forever be grateful for GREY2K for creating awareness around the world of this horrific track, and for sharing my photos, allowing people to see inside this very dark and troubling place. And I am grateful for the global community too, so many who joined together in one powerful voice, and who never gave up to save these precious souls.
Robin, you are a greyhound angel! Christine Dorchak, President, GREY2K USA Worldwide
A dynamic and effective group working to make life better for greyhounds the world over, GREY2K has earned our respect and gratitude. Within the last year alone, they and their partner organizations successfully concluded a years-long battle to close the horrific Macau Canidrome (including evacuating all of the over 500 surviving dogs and helping them to begin their journeys to safe and loving homes) AND worked to pass a constitutional amendment ending greyhound racing in the state of Florida by 2021.
Thank you for sharing our dream of ending dog racing across the globe!
GREY2K USA Worldwide rescues and saves greyhounds; has successfully shut down the race tracks in nearly every state in the US; helps educate the public about the disgrace and cruelty of this so-called sport. This organization truly makes a difference.
Thank you for your steadfast support of our work to free the greyhounds! Christine Dorchak, President, GREY2K USA Worldwide
GREY2K deserves mega-kudos for the work they have done to protect and save racing greyhounds from neglect, abuse, exploitation and death. I've been involved in greyhound rescue for over 20 years and have seen the suffering firsthand. GREY2K has worked tirelessly to help these special hounds. The win on Florida's Amendment 13 in 2018 was a colossal victory, with a whopping 69% of Florida voters voting to ban racing in that state by the end of 2020. A very effective non profit!!! My heroes. The racers' heroes.
Thanks for speaking for the hounds! Christine Dorchak, President, GREY2K USA Worldwide
This non profit is completely committed to helping greyhounds around the World, they have accomplished so much over the years to get tracks closed and expose the extreme cruelty inherent in Greyhound Racing. I know the staff works non stop, with very little compensation and dedicate their lives to helping these wonderful, gentle dogs.
Go team! Christine Dorchak, President, GREY2K USA Worldwide
GREY2K USA Worldwide simply gets the job done!
They have earned victories ending the cruelty of
greyhound racing in the U.S.A. and around the
world and are relentless in their fight to speak
truth to power. They are global in scope and
work endlessly and selflessly to give a voice to
those who have none. Nothing will stop them
until they have rooted out the evil of greyhound
racing around the world. They have so much to
be proud of!
I am proud to work with you save hounds far and wide! Christine Dorchak, President, GREY2K USA Worldwide
Amazing group! It is so nice to see an organization actually out there doing something greyt!
Protecting greyhounds is the most important mission for GREY2K USA and if you have ever met the team, you know that right away! These gentle dogs need GREY2K USA Worldwide to defend them against those who care less about these dogs' lives and more about money.
Thank you, we will keep working until this cruelty ends and the greyhounds are free!
