The work of GREY2K USA Worldwide continues to grow, combatting dog racing across the globe. It is such an honor to be part of this wonderful non-profit campaign.
You want candid? Ok then! Liars and scammers of the first order. Anyone giving money to these shysters needs their heads examining-the two founders love running round the world on your money, whilst doing pretty much zip for greyhounds and you lot donating keep falling for it! See the two attached photos for one of their lies about retired greyhounds being voluntary blood donors-they quickly deleted their post once it was shown up to be a lie, bit like the tine they lied about another picture. claiming it was a picture outside a 'training premises' when it was actually a quarry then they blanked out the quarry sign . Not to mention them blagging cash under false pretences, the third picture shows them shamelessly hustling money for dogs that they have nothing to do with-racing and their adoption groups would be sorting out all rehoming of dogs in NZ, and NONE of them have anything to do wirh Greed2k or their money. CT also blocked people who asked them where the money they blagged in the same way for the Mexico dogs went and wouldn't answer any questions posed as to what happened to the cash.....
GREY2K USA Worldwide stands out in the animal advocacy nonprofit sector because they get results. Look at their twenty-year-plus history, and you'll see victory after victory in the animal rights field. They have absolutely never swayed from their mission of ending greyhound racing. Their level of commitment, conviction, strategy, and sheer grit is something that every animal rights nonprofit leader and volunteer can and should learn from.
GREY2K USA Worldwide works tirelessly on behalf of greyhounds. They draft legislation and lobby to get it passed. They educate the public about the humane issues that are inherent in dog racing. And they financially assist greyhound adoption efforts around the world. The interests of greyhounds have representation in the form of GREY2K USA.

GREY2K USA Worldwide is a fantastic organization dedicated to ending the cruelties of dog racing. They work hard to fulfill their mission of passing greyhound protection laws worldwide. Their dedication has benefited countless greyhounds who deserve the opportunities to live the same lives as all other dogs.

Read moreG2k is a complete scam!! They don’t use your money to “help” greyhounds, they use it to have 6 figure incomes. These dogs in the USA don’t need your help. They are loved through every stage of their lives. It’s sad what people believe when they have seen nothing, yet they dish out money to these scam artists.
Grey2K is a group of caring people that tell truths that are backed up by facts . They have not been intimated by the racing industry and their threats. Their goal is to keep Greyhounds safe and well taken care of, just as other breeds in our country and around the world have experienced. They spend hundreds of hours uncovering the dark stories of what happens in the dog racing industry so that the world is educated on the abuse and neglect of these gentle dogs. They have been endless advocates for Greyhounds well being and hopefully the end of this abusive "so called sport".
GREY2KUSA Worldwide advocates protecting greyhound dogs because they are intrinsically valuable. The organization has been outstandingly successful at drawing public attention to the ethical, social and political issues that surround greyhound racing and human relationship with greyhound dogs including the way greyhound dogs are harmed by their association with their human handlers and owners that can rationally be defended. That is, the organization fosters conversations impelled by the principle of progress through reason. In so doing, the organization has informed and created knowledge relevant to an understanding of the greyhound racing industry worldwide, the everyday lives of greyhound dogs, and the conditions in which racing greyhounds are kept.
The organization provides; legitimate solutions to problems embodied by the greyhound racing industry; a forum and language for discussion of issues that attend greyhound racing; systematic analysis and assessment of the greyhound racing industry; and policy advice. I know from personal experience that in challenging the pervasive institutional and ideological influence of the greyhound racing industry social media platforms are often the site of abuse of those who hold contrary views to industry insiders. Grey2K Worldwide is noteworthy in that it promotes, indeed amplifies, mutually respectful moral deliberation on fundamental values.

My experience of GREY2KUSA Worldwide cannot be summerized in few words. Writing as an academic animal ethicist and volunteer I can say without hesitation that GREY2K USA Worldwide is an important nongovernment organization (NGO). It is a site where individuals across the globe work in concert with others. GREY2K USA Worldwide fosters knowledge exchange, informed public debate, public learning, shared purpose, and solidarity with its global outreach program to protect greyhounds and promote the interests, welfare rescue and adoption of greyhounds. GREY2K USA Worldwide often gives voice to values, normative ideals that might otherwise go unheard. It demonstrates through actual practices that society’s moral codes regarding greyhounds can change and are changing. GREY2K USA Worldwide is not what I would describe as an ideological organization; rather it is a pragmatic organization that recognizes what can be done one step at a time. It is the success of its practices and ideals that has sped systemic change in the lives of thousands if not tensor thousands of greyhounds for the better and hastened the decline in the greyhound racing industry globally.

Thank you for your thoughtful analysis and support of the campaign to end dog racing worldwide!
This organization knows nothing about greyhounds. They spread misinformation, outright lies and steal pictures from unsuspecting dedicated greyhound people, all to get $$$ from their followers. They block anyone who disagrees with their agenda and delete posts & comments that try to provide a more balanced viewpoint. Very disturbing that this organization is allowed to go unchecked.
There should be an option to give negative stars.

This fake "review" was posted by a dog racing supporter, as part of an organized campaign to try to drive down our review score on this site. GREY2K USA works to pass greyhound protection laws, phase out dog racing and promote greyhound adoption. We have a strong record of accomplishments. Thirty-one dog tracks have closed or ended dog racing in the U.S. since our formation in 2001. During the same period, gambling on dog races has dropped by 70% and greyhound breeding has declined by 60%. We have passed sixteen major greyhound protection laws, including prohibitions on commercial dog racing in Colorado, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Arizona. We are an efficient non-profit organization. In 2016, 81% of all expenditures were used directly for programs including legislative advocacy, ballot initiatives, legal research, and public education about the cruelty of greyhound racing. Greyhound breeders resort to cynical tactics like this because we are ending their cruelty.
Review from Guidestar
This organization is based on lies to trick people into filling their pockets with your donations. Your money does not help the lives of any animals. Greyhounds have the most successful adoption rate of any breed worldwide. Racing greyhounds are also treated better than any breed worldwide from birth to racing to breeding to retirement which makes them the BEST companion. Grey2k steals, lies, and does not put animals' best interest at heart. Grey2k does not care about the thousands of animals being killed in shelters on a daily basis but wants the breed that has the highest adoption rate to die. Visit a farm, race kennel, or adoption kennel, or a race track and get educated before filling the pockets of liars.

I have supported and worked with GREY2K USA since their inception. A dedicated, effective group accomplishing what many of us have tried to do for years. Their work is recognized worldwide. This inspirational group deserves to be rewarded for their tireless efforts to shut down the cruel dog racing industry.
Grey2K is that rare nonprofit that began with a well defined mission, dedicated enormous human resources to developing the skills and knowledge to accomplish it and are a modern day David taking down Golliath. It hasn't been easy but their commitment has never wavered and their optimism and resilience has led to exposure of inhumane treatment of racing greyhounds that in turn converted the animal loving public into advocates for change. As a veterinarian with my own animal welfare nonprofit organization I know how difficult this is to do and success comes directly from the passion and commitment of its founders. I can think of no better example of what an animal welfare organization can be and can accomplish than the example of Grey2K. I only hope that once they succeed in ending dog racing globally they will teach others how to have similar success. There are few mentors in the field of creating change through nonprofit organizations. Grey2K figured it out on their own and have done it superbly. We would all do well to have their success recognized so that others may emulate them. Sheila Lyons, DVM

Thank you for working with us to end dog racing in Florida and worldwide, Maurice! Christine Dorchak, Esq. President, GREY2K USA Worldwide
It's rather amusing that any time a person leaves a less than "five-star" rating for this company, its executive director (Carey2 - aka Carey Theil - "husband" of Grey2k USA president Christine Dorchak) claims that it is not a valid review because it's from someone in the "commercial racing industry". What a load excrement. It's a proven fact that Grey2k uses misleading propaganda and outright lies to slander individuals who own and race greyhounds. It's also proven that Grey2k USA donates less than 1% of its "take" to actually help greyhounds. Carey Theil has also spoken out AGAINST the Greyhound Safety Act in Florida. Legislation that would actually prevent injuries to racing greyhounds.

christine 03/11/2015
Nothing in this comment even approaches the truth. GREYK2K USA is a non-profit entity with a Gold Star Rating from Guidestar as well as GreatNonprofits Top Rated Nonprofit for 2014. The organization was indeed formed by two greyhound advocates who, finding common goals to protect the greyhounds, were later married. GREY2K USA Worldwide and the GREY2K USA Education Fund contributed to over 50 greyhound adoption groups last year alone, with an average gift of over $300. That said, we are a non-profit ourselves and not a foundation formed to redistribute the donations received. Dog advocates support our work because they want to see dog racing end, and that is what we are aiming to do worldwide. Finally, the poster is misinformed and ill-willed about our position on the Florida Greyhound Safety Act. We are in favor of its language, some of which is language already proposed and filed by us in separate bills before the legislature or lobbied for administratively before the Division of Pari-Mutuel Wagering. Unfortunately, a dog was just electrocuted at Palm Beach dog track despite the adoption of the "safety device" that breeders say will make injuries a thing of the past. http://www.mypalmbeachpost.com/news/news/state-regional-govt-politics/greyhound-electrocuted-at-pbkc-cited-as-need-for-l/nkSGL/#f08a66ad.3563902.735668 GREY2K USA works to pass laws to protect greyhounds and we support any meritorious bill to accomplish this aim. Our clear goal, however, is to end dog racing and stop the cruel breeding and disposal of innocent dogs by industry promoters such as the poster. As long as dog racing continues, greyhounds will suffer. That is the inexorable fact that motivates us to keep working every day to save them. See our newly released report on dog racing in the United States here: http://grey2kusa.org/pdf/USreportWeb.pdf Board of Directors, GREY2K USA Worldwide
This organization is bogus on so many levels. Grey2K rakes in thousands under the pretense of helping poor abused greyhounds. Firstly, the greyhound racing industry is tightly regulated, greyhounds are well taken care of and I have seen the lies and deceit that this organization stoops to advance its primary goal--which is separating you from the cash in your pocket. Not one solitary dime goes to helping re home ex racing greyhounds. If people want to help dogs in need, I strongly suggest giving to your local animal shelter. That is truly a worthy cause and those animals ARE often abused and neglected.

Between GREY2K USA and the GREY2K USA Education Fund, we have given more than $34,000 to non-profit greyhound adoption organizations since 2009. We also maintain a national listing of greyhound adoption organizations, and regularly gives adoption referrals.

It is a never ending source of wonder to me how this organization (Grey2K) can so easily manipulate unknowing people through mass indoctrination of what is often outright lies and self serving propaganda. As a person involved in greyhounds and adoption for over two decades, I have seen first hand hundreds of greyhounds that have walked through our doors and on to new homes. They come in as beautiful racing machines and owing to the quality of care and level of professional training, we can adopt them out to new homes with little fostering.
I am greatly saddened to see so many lies and misinformation touted as fact by people who really should know better. I have visions of grey2k advocates wearing white pointed hats and banishing torches, because that is exactly what they are doing. And they aren't doing a damn thing to help those of us who work diligently to adopt out these wonderful canines.
And as a response to the accustions posted by carey2 below, I find it typical of their conduct. Anyone who opposes them is an enemy and labeled as such.
and btw, you may remember carey2, our adoption agency refused your donation of $500, and the strings you wanted to attach. The end of greyhound racing would spell the end of this noble breed of dog. A fact you have not mentioned to your followers . . .not surprised.

People need to look behind the false image that they want the public to see and really do some deep investigating to realize that they are nothing but extremists stealing your hard earned dollar... Recently there was a animal cruelty case in Boston there own back yard why didnt they jump in to help with that? No money in it for them thats why.. UPDATE: Carey2’s comments below are not surprising. The first is basically accurate (except for the word “bizarre”) as it was indeed posted by a dog racing supporter as part of an organized campaign to post truthful reviews about Grey2K. If one encounters terrible meals or service in a restaurant, is one not entitled to express one’s opinion with an unfavorable review? If one purchases a product that does not live up to its hype and is a disappointing waste of money, does one not have the right to share one’s unfortunate experience? It’s time the racing industry stands up and defends itself against the bullying tactics of Grey2K, who themselves have perpetuated a “smear” campaign to malign greyhound racing and the good people who own, breed, train, care for and love these dogs. To paint an entire industry as villains because of the sins of a few is unconscionable. Do we close all churches because of a few aberrant priests? Do we shutter all schools because of some vile criminals with guns? Do we outlaw all amateur sports because kids might get injured? Yet Carey2 and Grey2K would have you believe that every person who is involved with greyhound racing is the devil incarnate. It’s disheartening to think that Grey2K and their supporters harbor and spread such hatred.
The only thing factual in Carey2’s second comment is that greyhounds compete 6-8 times per month. The timeline presented below is an accurate depiction of the daily routine of a racer, written by a professional trainer who works with these dogs day in and day out and can attest to the veracity of their habits. Carey2’s assertion that this schedule only holds true on the day of a race is baseless, and patently illustrates his ignorance. On off days, other activities are substituted for the race, as well as allowing time for rest after the enormous expenditure of energy a race entails. And Carey2, PLEASE give the mantra a rest – “cages that are barely large enough for the dogs to stand up or turn around” is a broken record. This notion has been disproved time and again with videos and images posted every day directly from racing kennels.
In summary, if you were contemplating open heart surgery, would you consult your hairdresser or auto mechanic? The last time I looked, Carey2 did not work in a racing kennel, nor does he hold a trainer’s license. That he feels he is more knowledgeable about greyhound racing than the professionals who work with the dogs 24/7 is profoundly absurd - and if you believe him, I’ve got a bridge to sell you.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: Hello, I am a racing greyhound whose official name is KerrysLion, but you can call me "The K." I figured since my distant cousin Zoe is allowed to write letters for her handlers at Grey2K, I would add my own two kibbles as a review. There's been a lot of action here lately, but I just want to address one topic in particular. The folks at Grey2K keep saying over and over and over again that: "Racing greyhounds endure lives of terrible confinement. They live inside warehouse-style kennels in rows of stacked cages that are barely large enough for them to stand up or turn around. They are confined for long hours each day, with shredded paper or carpet remnants as bedding." Nothing could be further from the truth! We spend the first 12 to 16 months of our lives just being dogs! We hang out with our brothers and sisters, competing and chasing each other up and down the huge outdoor runs. We are fed and watered, receive medical care, have shade and shelter, and always have lots of humans handling and playing with us. When we're old enough we get to go to school and start learning manners and how to live in a civilized community with our peers. Most of us who have a strong, inherent desire to run and chase prey will then move on to a racing environment and will compete against our kindred. This is where WE decide our career path: to run or not to run, that is the question! You see, it is impossible to force a greyhound to run or race - we will or we won't. Those who would rather play with the bunny than chase it get a fast track to their second career as a beloved pet.
Anyway, back to the topic at hand. I gave Grey2K one star, because you can't pick no star. Far from living a life of terrible confinement, here is an account of my actual life in a racing kennel:
6.30am: Rise and shine. I get to wake up to all of my caretakers letting us out. I go outside in a group 15 boys, and we hang out outside for about 30 mins. We sniff, smell and take care of nature's call. We have 3 different pens that we get to go into ... and more sniffing and smelling take place. At 7am I come back inside.
7am - 8am: my caretakers are cooking rice and pasta in the kitchen. This will go in our dinner once its cooled. My caretakers start cleaning all of our kennels. Some dogs get to leave the kennel and go exercising.
8am: I get to go back outside with my group of 15 friends, while my caretakers clean my kennel, check my shredded paper bed, change my water and sweep up bed area. I spend 30 minutes outside, relaxing and sniffing ... and going through each of the 3 different pens. At 8.30am, I come back in
8.45am: I get weighed and my weight is recorded in a kennel log. My caretakers groom me, check my feet, check my nails and my ears, and then brush me with a grooming glove. I got back into my kennel and nap till dinner time
9-10am: Dinner time! I get a 1/2lb meat ball with some vitamins and vanilla Ensure on top. Yum! Because I got a 1/2 "snack" that means I am racing today!!!
10am: I go back outside with my group of 15 buddies and we take care of nature's call, do a little sniffing, watch some of the other's kennel staff and just lounge around for 30 mins, getting to go into each of the 3 pens attached to our kennel. 10.30am I go back inside to the kennel. When we come back inside, my caretakers sweep, mop and clean the kennel, so its all clean and comfortable
11am - 11.30: I hear leads clinking!!!!!! Woohoo. I am going racing!!!! My caretakers put a lead on me, and I go walking with 2 of my buddies. We walk from the kennel to the racetrack ... we pass the grassy area with trees, and we sniff and take care of nature's call ... and if we are really lucky, we will see a squirrel!! We love watching the squirrel run up the trees! We walk to paddock area of the track, and get weighed. I have to be within 1.5lbs of my set-weight or I won't be allowed to race. I am 84.5lbs, the clerk of the scale records my weight and my caretaker brings me to the racing kennels. A track employee takes me and puts me into kennels, where I will stay until its time to race
1.30pm: Track leadouts come and get me! They put my leash on, and we go and walk outside in the warm up area. A lady in a lab coat follows me as I take care of nature's call, and my sample goes into a plastic container and a label gets put on it. The track vet is there watching us walk, and making sure that we are all okay. Then we get to go to the Paddock area, where the Paddock supervisor will check my weight and then put on my racing blanket. The Paddock Judge comes and checks my ear tattoo (to make sure I am the correct dog), and then he checks that my racing blanket fits correctly
2pm: I walk onto the racetrack wearing the green blanket of post #4. I am pulling at the leash, and the leadout walks me onto the track for the post parade. We walk in front of the spectators, and I catch a glimpse of the toteboard .. I am 5/1 to win my race. The leadouts walk us to the starting boxes, and we wait for about 5 mins. I get loaded into the starting box, and I can hear the lure coming towards the start .... the boxes open and I am in 3rd place. I close ground on the greyhounds racing in front of me, and when I turn into the homestretch I accelerate and leave the field behind me! I won! I won! I am so excited. The lure stops at the pick-up, and we all stand there wagging our tails, so excited! The leadout puts my leash back on, and I walk off the track to my caretaker
2.15pm: My caretaker brings me to the cool down area, and I get my feet cleaned and cooled off, and then I get to walk through the cool-down tank ... its a cool water tank that we can walk through to cool down on a hot day. I walk back to the kennel with my caretaker, and when we get there they clean my face, feet, and wash my eyes. I go back into my kennel and drink some water. I nap for an hour or two. When I am all cooled down, I get my dinner!!! meat, kibble, rice, pasta and some vitamin supplements. Yum! Then about 4pm, I go back outside for a few mins to take care of nature's call. I come back inside and get a couple of milk bone cookies!!! Yeah!
5.30pm: my caretakers come and let me out with my 15 buddies. We spend about 30 minutes outside
7.30pm: the night races start, and my caretakers are in the kennel taking care of other racers
8.30 - 10pm: my caretakers come and let me outside with my 15 buddies. We are outside for about 30-45 minutes. We get to go through the 3 different pens, and sniff, smell, lounge and hang-out
11pm: my caretakers wash dishes, sweep, mop and tidy up the kennel. They leave about 11.30pm and the radio is left on for us with some easy-listening music. We sleep and dream. I have water if I am thirsty, and a nice bed of shredded paper. I dream of winning races!
6:30 am Rise and Shine!

carey2 10/04/2013
This review is so incredibly strange, it is difficult to offer a substantive response. I will say, however, that racing greyhounds do not compete every day. Instead, they compete 6-8 times per month. Further, the notion that greyhound kennels have five daily "turn-outs" is nonsense. The fact is, thousands of greyhounds do endure lives of confinement in the racing industry. They are kept in cages that are barely large enough for the dogs to stand up or turn around, and are confined with two exceptions. 1. A few times per month they are taken to a racetrack to compete, and 2. A few times a day, greyhounds are "turned out" in a large group to relieve themselves. As this bizarre essay points out, these "turn outs" are generally 30 minutes long, if the dogs are lucky. The remaining 22 hours is spent in a cage.
Review from Guidestar
It seems that some supporters of this group are still under the mistaken impression that they actually save and rehabilitate greyhounds. This couldn't be farther from the truth, and a close look at their own website and literature will reveal that they are solely a political lobbying group with the goal of ending greyhound racing. Absolutely none of their funds go toward adoption efforts. They do nothing to 'save' greyhounds Unless you think that they can be 'saved' by eliminating the reason for them to exist.
The people who are involved in greyhound racing are just regular people, most of whom care deeply for greyhounds and love to work in a field for which they are passionate. As a veterinarian and adopter of ex-racing greyhounds, I have gotten to know many in the industry, and I've seen how much they care about their dogs. As with any group of people, there are some bad apples, who are quickly dealt with when they are discovered. To fight to eliminate the entire racing industry because there are a few bad apples, is the same as fighting to end pet ownership because there are some owners who abuse their pets. This is an animal rights group who would eliminate our right to live with and love pets if it was up to them.

Also, this phony "review" contains inaccurate information. For example, the notion that GREY2K USA "would eliminate our right to live with and love pets" is complete nonsense. GREY2K USA has a very specific mission: to pass greyhound protection laws, phase out dog racing and promote greyhound adoption. We have no position on any other issue. Similarly, the claim that GREY2K USA does not support greyhound adoption is false. In reality, we support adoption in many ways. We make direct financial contributions to adoption groups, we give greyhound adoption referrals, and we encourage our supporters to adopt. I am also personally a greyhound adopter.
Just to be clear, this is not a "fake" review. I know more about greyhounds and greyhound racing than Carey Theil or Christine Dorchak. And I have an honest opinion about Grey2k USA.
They are animal rights extremists, much like PETA and ALF (Animal Liberation Front). For Dorchak and Theil, it's not about specific conditions, it's about humans profiting from animals. Dorchak and Theil are vegans. They are supported by PETA, ALF and the HSUS. They try to hide behind their extremist views by using misleading propaganda, negative connotations and outright lies about greyhound racing.
They lie about the size of the crates and condition of the kennels. They lie about the amount of time greyhounds spend in the kennel. They withhold data about racing injuries. Data that would prove that greyhound racing is very safe.
Why all the lies and propaganda? Because if they simply said that "greyhound racing is bad because people are profiting from animals", they wouldn't get the financial support from the public.
Grey2k USA uses deceptive practices to slander hard working Americans in the greyhound community.
Once again, Carey and his wife caught in a web of lies. Here a link to the ALF Hall of Fame induction for Christine Dorchak:

Carey searches the internet and finds a link describing the "minimum allowable size" for a greyhound crate. He just assumes that all greyhounds are housed in crates of that size. Someone who really wants to find the truth would visit a greyhound kennel and determine if they are in size appropriate crates. And you would find that they certainly are. Visit Grey2k Deception on Facebook for photos of the actual crates used.
Carey, if you don't withhold data from your injury reporting statistics, then how many races and starts were there during the 5 1/2 year reporting period for injures at Wheeling and Tri-State? These numbers are required to determine the possibility of an injury occurring.
As stated, Carey and his wife aren't really interested in the truth. They are interested in generating income to support their lifestyle.
Carey, you seem a little quiet. Care to answer my questions, or are you afraid of a little debate?

As I have said previously, this "review" was posted by an individual who profits from the greyhound racing industry, and spends hours every day trying to defame GREY2K USA on the internet.

carey2 09/30/2013
There are so many false claims in his phony "review" that it's hard to know where to begin. 1. The notion that GREY2K USA is supported the "Animal Liberation Front" is complete nonsense. 2. The claim that we "lie" about dog track cage sizes and conditions is false. We report the facts, straight from the industry itself and state records. 3. The notion that we "withold data about racing injuries" that would "prove that greyhound racing is very safe" is laughable. These are all lies that Robert Gross and a handful of others tell about GREY2K USA, because they are angry that dog racing is dying and we are having an impact.
Previous Stories
I have been involved in the greyhound racing community since the early 1980's. Grey2k USA relies on lies and misinformation to make people think that greyhound racing is inhumane. They lead people to believe that they are involved with greyhound adoption, which they are not. They actively troll news articles related to greyhounds and attack those who do not support their "cause". No money donated to Grey2k USA helps greyhounds. All money donated to Grey2k USA is allocated to salaries and "miscellaneous expenses".

carey2 07/11/2012
This review was posted by a dog racing supporter and is not factually accurate. GREY2K USA supports greyhound adoption in several ways. Specifically, we make adoption referrals to adoption groups across the country, we directly contribute to local adoption organizations, and we promote greyhound adoption on an ongoing basis. Regarding humane problems in the dog racing industry, we use information that is recent, from credible sources like mainstream news reports and state records, and specific to local tracks. We simply provide the public with accurate data regarding this industry, and ask them to make a humane choice. All of our fact sheets and policy reports are on line here: http://www.grey2kusa.org/about/fact_sheets.html Finally, GREY2K USA does have a full-time staff because it would otherwise be impossible to function as an effective national, non-profit organization aimed at passing laws. Our staff is highly skilled, and earns modest wages. We use our resources efficiently. We have made a lot of progress, and that is why so many greyhound breeders are angry about our work.
This review is not intended to drive down your review score Carey. My purpose here as a greyhound lover is to educate people about the misconceptions they have about greyhound racing after joining your group. I think you have every right to stand up for what you beleive, but lying to the public, twisting words and misrepresenting facts is a LOW LIFE way to make a "non profit" You already know that in the greyhound racing industry our biggest threat is your spread of misinformation that is intended to have your supporters donate $ that will ultimately go towards ending greyhound racing and very likely increasing the extinction of this beautiful breed. When we stop breeding where will you get your donations? The fact that our adoption rates far surpass those of any other breed or advocacy groups should be a clear sign that a greyhounds career after racing is not a death sentence, its actually a oppurtunity for families to witness first hand how well this breed has been taken care of from day 1. Your false claims of abuse and neglect have only shown through a handful of bad apples in this business and none of them are involved in racing after the fact. Every industry has a few sucky people, don't let the .001% paint a picture of the other 99.9. If you want an open dialog or a debate of facts stop erasing PRO greyhound statements from your page. Yes we go there to spread truth, not be censored. We watch numbers just like you. Does it sting when one of your supporters hears our story and sees the truth and leaves your organization because they've had enough. Why do you censor the facts and highlight the BS. Google greyhound lies and myths, better yet call any greyhound adoption group (they have no intere$t other than our awesome retirees) and ask them what has Grey2K done for you.

carey2 09/26/2013
Virtually every claim in this "review" is false. I will agree, though, that GREY2K USA is indeed the "biggest threat" facing the commercial greyhound racing industry. That is why reviews like this have been posted on this site.
I am a veterinarian, and I support the work of GREY2K USA. They have scientifically brought to the public the statistics of greyhound racing, including the injuries and the lack of profit for this form of animal abuse. Public awareness is one of the most powerful methods of reform.

carey2 09/25/2013
Thanks for your review! We take great pride in our research, and strive every day to understand the dog racing industry better than it understands itself.
Grey2K is the only organization that devotes everything they got in changing legislature in helping eradicate a horrible and cruel industry. They have been ridiculed for not rescuing greyhounds. They are the only organization that has been able to make a difference in closing these profit making institutions called race tracks that are one of the most despicable cruel and inhumane organizations out there. True, they don't do adoptions but we have some of the best and wonderful adoption organizations doing this.
They are unique and the only organization that rescues greyhounds by fighting the tracks, breeders, owners, and making the public aware of what goes on and they change legislations. This is why we are seeing less and less tracks due to Grey2K. Thank you Grey2K without you we would not have gotten rid of some of the tracks. Hopefully you will get rid of all of them. and thank you to all the rescues that take in the greyhounds and find homes for them.

carey2 09/25/2013
Thank you for this review Helene, and for everything you have done to help greyhounds.
Grey2k is a lobbyist group whose sole mission is to end dog racing and eradicate gambling entertainment options. While this 501c4 is a non profit, it is not a charitable one, nor even one with much ethics. They utilize donations to lobby to eliminate the livlihoods of thousands of dog professionals, wipe out a century of history and thousands of years of careful breeding that make up what the greyhound is today. They pay themselves a salary, take vacations in the name of 'lobbying' and travel the world asking for donations. Even looking at the President's response to some of the honest reviews on here from adoption people, general public, their own donors and, yes.. industry people, you get them actually asking for money to shut down honest reviews. The racing industry has for years had open discussions and offered to open up farms, kennels and operations to Grey2k board members but they refused to accept these invitations. Instead, they delete and ban comments that might have opposing view in their quest for additional dollars in their ongoing donation drive.
I am an adoption person. I have had greyhounds for nearly 20 years as pets. I did come into direct contact with the racing community about 3.5 years ago and realized that there was a lot of good, honest people who love their dogs.

carey2 09/24/2013
You're a real person, Leslie, who is a dog racing supporter. You have come here at the request of people in the greyhound racing industry, and asked to post a "review" in the hopes of driving down our review score on this site.

carey2 09/24/2013
The claim that GREY2K USA employees take "vacations in the name of lobbying" is completely false. Similarly, the claim that we use photographs from other countries to depict what happens in the United States is not accurate. These are some of the conspiracy theories that greyhound breeders have circulated, in an attempt to save their cruel business.

carey2 09/25/2013
As of October 2012, Leslie Csokasy owned at least two racing dogs that were competing at a commercial racetrack in Iowa, a fact she omitted from her "review."
Review from Guidestar
I have had a total of 13 grand greyhounds, each one was special! truly grateful for being rescued and was openly thankful for the love they received. If not for GREY2K, all,of the rescues would not be taking place.
Grey2K is the most outstanding non profit organization I have ever had the pleasure of working with.
This organization has and continues to lead the way to closing down dog racing for good. I will support them in any way I can.
Dog racing and the conditions the dogs are kept in are horrendous.
Grey2K is leading the nation in their efforts to end this heinous act.

Thanks for your review, and thanks for adopting so many greyhounds!
As a 20-year adoption representative for a greyhound rescue organization, I have received invaluable help from Grey2K USA through their educational outreach. They have provided excellent, non-biased information about the industry of greyhound racing which I could then pass on to my local volunteers in order that our group can be as well informed as possible. Grey2K USA never resorts to smear tactics to make the greyhound racing industry "look bad". They report well-documented facts about the industry.

carey2 09/24/2013
Thanks for your review. We are very proud of our research work, and truly strive to know the dog racing industry better than it knows itself.
GREY2K USA is one of those wonderful, underdog organization (but not for long, I hope) that's been working for stronger protection laws for racing greyhounds. They've had great success already in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Florida and even Texas.
They're fighting for incredibly basic things getting the public informed about the number of greyhounds injured while racing, and forcing breeders and racers to report on the ultimate fate of current and former racing dogs. GREY2K helped pass the first state-funded greyhound adoption trust fund in US history! They're doing the angels' work, and I'm so glad they're around.

carey2 09/24/2013

They do great work, and get the job done !!!! for the greyhound dogs..
Very dedicated -- and tirelessly fighting for the greyhound dogs --
and to stop this racing industry that has hurt in so many ways these beautiful loving dogs
and to mention the killing of these dogs from this horrific industry..
Saying that one of the high members of Grey 2K USA -- should have been at the Marathon bombing -
Well, that shows the mentaility that your dealing with here ??? THAT ALONE IS NOT AN EASY JOB..
So YES -- shut down all dog tracks !!!!!!!!
Best Wishes to ALL THE GREYHOUNDS AND GREY 2K USA

First of all, this is not a charity. All they do is exploit people who know nothing about greyhounds or greyhound racing to get their pity money. The owners of this group pay themselves big salaries, and have never, ever lifted a finger to help one greyhound.
Greyhounds are taken very good care of at the tracks. Grey2k likes to lie, and to use very old information, usually from other countries to get people to donate to them. The people who follow them don't think for themselves, but follow their "leader".
If you want to learn more about them, it's easy to do your own homework on this "shell" organization.
Now this is the stuff they spew when the truth comes out:

Finally, the notion that our data is based on "very old information, usually from other countries" is completely and utterly false. It's very easy to search the internet to find the information that tells the truth. The IRS needs to look into them. Carey2 knows most people will just donate and not question where the money is going, but some of us want to see where the money goes, and doing some digging has proved over and over this is a bogus organization that does indeed need investigating. They do NOTHING to help anything but themselves. Check them out like I did!

We appreciate your review!
I have been rescuing greyhounds since 1992. I have been behind the scenes at tracks, breeding and training farms and in the kennels where these dogs are housed. No person would ever treat their beloved companion animal the way these dogs are treated. They are purely a commodity to the dog racing industry. Make no mistake in believing all these dogs receive daily massages and whirlpool baths. These dogs are expendable - when one breaks down or gets too slow, there are plenty more waiting in the wings to take that dog's place.
Breeder/trainers/owner of racing greyhounds are not concerned about longevity, thus the genetic pool has been contaminated with genes that cause cancer and all sorts of other diseases. This has been proven in a study by one of the world's foremost experts on racing greyhounds, Dr. Guillermo Couto. His findings were published, and specifically stated racing greyhounds are at a higher risk of cancer due to breeding purely for speed. AKC greyhounds do NOT have the same high rate of cancer as those registered through the NGA (National Greyhound Association) for racing.
GREY2K USA understands the only way to protect these greyhounds is to end racing. This organization is committed to their mission, as are those of us who have seen the death, pain and suffering of greyhounds we rescue.

carey2 09/23/2013
Thank you Judy, for this review. You are a true hero to us and an inspiration, and we are grateful for everything you continue to do for the dogs.
I have known about this organization since it's inception. I have written to them many, many times over the past ten years to ask for everything from humane education materials I could distribute in the schools and at animal events to advice on holding a demonstration at our local dog race track. The more I learned about this organization, the more I felt I wanted one myself. Grey2KUSA inspired me to adopt a greyhound from a local rescue organization. I adopted a dog I named Eli and had him for six years before his death of natural causes.

carey2 09/23/2013
Thanks Michelle. We are so happy that we helped inspire you to adopt! We also wish we had more local representatives around the country, and will continue working on that.
This organizations main goal is to siphon money from people who believe they are placing greyhounds into homes. This is a LOBBYING organization that does not place any greyhounds. What that is a lie? When this group did take in 6 greyhounds to place after the tracks closed down, they were placed in a kill shelter. Their success in ending racing has been limited however they are financially stable. A closer look at their tax forms paint an interesting financial setting that is a maze of misinformation. If you believe your money will be placing greyhounds into homes, you are mistaken. Donate to your local greyhound placement organization and not these crooks.

Review from Guidestar
This is a scam...They are not helping one greyhound find a home after racing. Less than 1% of their donation money goes to actual greyhound charities. They are strictly a lobbying group to eliminate greyhound racing, and wagering on greyhound racing. They are always saying on their websites, if you want to help greyhounds, donate to grey2k. However if they ever succeed in eliminating greyhound racing there will be 1000's of racing greyhounds with nowhere to go. Grey2K will not help any be adopted. They will have created the problem with zero help in solving it.

Review from Guidestar
There was a protest by G2K on approx. January 28, 2012 at a retail shoe/sneaker outlet in Boston against the store selling their product due to a ad where they displayed a video involving greyhounds racing. Their agenda was "Greyhound Racing Kills" on one of their signs at the protest. I was there in defense of the greyhound and their adoption after racing. As they were telling people passing the negative agenda I was telling the postive side. I asked the G2K people involved how many greyhounds have they adopted out after racing in the past year in finding their "Forever Homes". They had no figures for any adoptions done by this group but continued to try and stop me from my postive agenda by saying" we have no idea why you are here". I told people the money donated to this group does not find homes for greyhounds and it is a waste of your money. I was informed by one of the leaders they would be at the state capital in Florida to continue to aid in the de-coupling of racing from the tracks. They are a political action group, not a adoption group for greyhounds. Told him I would meet him in Florida to add my side of the real truth. The Florida Bill was stopped in committee and never got to the senate floor for discussion.

Review from Guidestar
I adopted my first retired racing greyhound in 2001. When I first heard about this group, I assumed it was a non-profit 501c3 that supported the rehoming of retired racers. After learning more about retired and current racing greyhounds, I also discovered this is NOT a 501c3, but a 501c4. BIG difference when it comes to what I "thought" was a group supporting greyhound adoption after the track. Instead, this is a group trying to put the end to greyhound racing and our NGA racing greyhounds. They do NOT support ANY greyhound adoption group, but spend their money on lobbying efforts to close down the greyhound industry. NEVER will I allow myself to be so fooled and NEVER will I give another cent to Grey2K. Their are misrepresenting what they are all about. Any potential donor, dig a bit and all their nastiness comes right to the surface.
OF COURSE CAREY2 WOULD RESPOND. I AM NOT PART OF AN ORGANIZED GROUP NOR DO I REPRESENT ANY GREYHOUND OWNER,BREEDER, KENNEL OR TRACK. I SUPPORT ADOPTION GROUPS AND HAVE RETIRED RACERS. G2KUSA MIGHT WANT TO CHECK THEIR MAILING LISTS AS THEY CONTINUE TO SEND ME SOLICITATIONS FOR DONATIONS SEVERAL TIMES A YEAR. WHAT GROUPS DO THEY DONATE TO AND WHAT PERCENTAGE OF THEIR DONATIONS GO DIRECTLY TO HELP GREYHOUNDS? I HAVE DONE MY RESEARCH AND ANY DONATION IS MINISCULE IN SCOPE OF THE MONEY THEY RAKE IN TO SPEND ON FIGHTING RACING - NOT SUPPORTING ADOPTION. PEOPLE - YOUR DONATIONS ARE BETTER USED DIRECTLY TO ADOPTION GROUPS IN YOUR AREA - NOT THIS 501c4!!!

These aren't canned responses Tibbi. We know very well who you are. You are one of the dog racing supporters who has been organizing a campaign of phony "reviews" on this site. The fact that you won't admit what you are doing speaks volumes.
Carey in reading all your comments your statement says you take modest salaries, could you please tell us what you consider a modest salary? It is my understanding that you've recently gave yourself a raise even though donations are down. How much money has been donated by grey2k to adoption groups to help them--- When you brag about closing Mass. tracks did you see that all those animals were place or was that not your problem? And referring to cwood review regarding when you "closed mass race tracks they were given a 14 month notice" well 14 months is nothing in the greyhound industry. A pup doesn't even start on the track until the age of 17-18 months old so what happens to all the pups on the farms, how are they to be fed ? Do you plan on donating money to feed them, pay the farm payments so they have a place to live or finding them a home, I think not -this would be another "not my problem" I don't even think you thought about all those beautiful puppies NEXT TIME YOU DECIDE TO TRY AND CLOSE A TRACK there needs to be a 4-5 year window. We love our animals and they love to run !!!!!!!!

carey2 07/25/2012
This isn't a review, it is a rant from someone in the dog racing industry. The "reviewer" is wrong on several substantive points. 1) When dog racing ended in Massachusetts, virtually all of the dogs that left the racing industry found homes. According to state records, during the final year of dog racing in Massachusetts 781 greyhounds were adopted. During the same period, only 11 greyhounds died or were euthanized. GREY2K USA worked with non-profit organizations throughout the state to create an adoption plan, and were prepared to step in and help. Greyhound breeders refused to work with us, and found homes for the dogs themselves -- a great outcome. 2) The dog racing industry knew for years that greyhound racing could end in Massachusetts. Citizens very narrowly voted, 51% to 49% to continue allowing dog racing in 2000, and it was a full eight years later that citizens opted, in an overwhelming vote, to end the activity. Finally, I do agree that greyhounds love to run. That is one reason why it is so cruel for them to endure lives of confinement, kept in small cages for long hours each day.
Scam Artists! This group pretends to be about greyhound welfare. In fact, everything they do hurts greyhounds!

This review was authored by a dog racing supporter, and is not factually accurate.
Any group that spreads falsehoods in order to perpetuate its views is pretty worthless in my estimation. This group uses shock photos of greyhound racing atrocities that are either decades old, predating most animal cruelty laws, or that originate outside the USA where there are no such laws. They allow the public to think their funds are going directly to help find homes for greyhounds, when in fact, none of the money goes for this purpose. Lots of money, however, goes toward salaries for its board members. Give this one a miss and give your donations to a group that prefers finding homes for hounds over lining their pockets.

carey2 05/18/2012
This review is from a dog racing supporter, as part of a campaign to try to drive down our review rating. It is not factually accurate. The photographs we use to illustrate the problems with greyhound racing are recent, local to the track that is being discussed, and from credible sources. For example, when we passed a ballot question in Massachusetts in 2008 to phase out dog racing, we used photographs and video footage that had been taken by the Massachusetts racetracks themselves. Regarding greyhound adoption, the claim that we do not support adoption is false. In reality, we support greyhound adoption in several ways. We give adoption referrals, promote adoption efforts, and make direct financial contributions to local greyhound adoption organizations all over the United States. Finally, other than one exception (a board member who also happens to be a full-time employee) members of the GREY2K USA board of directors are volunteers and receive no compensation.
GREY2KUSA is a great organization. They work tirelessly to help greyhounds.

Thanks for this review.
Grey2k started out with an idea: to end greyhound racing. It is possible that they started out with the best of intentions, but, their two directors have turned it into a cash cow for themselves: a way to make hundreds of thousands of dollars off the very dogs they say they are trying to protect. Their media savvy is impressive, and their ability to turn a phrase, and to twist any news story to their own advantage is quite extraordinary. Their support of greyhound adoption groups has been dismal. During their successful efforts to close the tracks in Massachusetts for instance, they promised to help adoption groups place dogs when the tracks closed. They said that they had lists of hundreds of adopters and organizations prepared to help. What happened when the tracks did close? Grey2k was nowhere to be found. Recently I read a blog post from Carey Thiel, one of the directors. He was bragging that his organizations has since 2009 made financial contributions to 50 adoption organizations. Nowhere in his blog did he say how much: for all we know it could be $1 each. Neither did he explain why there were no contributions in the eight previous years of Grey2k's existence, though with $300,000 to $500,000 per year in donations, you'd think that they could find a few dollars to actually "protect greyhounds". We find Grey2k tactics and honesty questionable at the very least.

carey2 05/15/2012
This review was posted by a dog racing supporter, and is not factually accurate. Our non-profit staff all earn modest salaries and are very effective at what they do. Regarding greyhound adoption, we give adoption referrals, regularly ask our tens of thousands of supporters to consider adopting, and directly support local greyhound adoption organizations.
As the founder of a Greyhound adoption group, A Place for Us Greyhounds, I can state that Grey2K does nothing to help the dogs. They come in and leave nothing but destruction in their wake. They leave people without jobs and dogs without a place to go. When asked to help with the dogs, they say, "not my problem" and walk away. Grey2K has an effective propaganda machine. Much of the info that they divvy out to the unsuspecting public is either old, from overseas, and/or an outright fabrication. They take "facts" and distort them. One such "fact" surrounds injuries. G2K makes every injury out to be catastrophic, when the greatest portion of them could be something as minute as a broken toenail. Examples of this exist in all of New England, especially MA, RI & CT. G2K takes in hundreds of thousands of dollars. They pass themselves off as an 'adoption' group. None of that money is ever used to provide direct services for the dogs & the groups that serve them. All that money, which could do so much good, is spent on lobbying, propaganda, and salaries. None of it is tax deductible. Also, Grey2K is under investigation for election fraud. Grey2K is a sham, not a charity.

G2K is nothing more than a sham. They claim to help the greyhounds. Yet, when they close a track, people are left without jobs, and the greyhound adoption groups are left to try and help them. G2K does nothing, and I mean nothing to help these dogs. They lie about everything they do, and the only thing they do is line their pockets with the money they take from people who don't know better. I could go on and on about everything they do that is wrong.
