Three months ago, I started interning at Bhumi with the HR(General) team and the work culture here is beyond any praise. Over the past few months, I noticed how this organization gives effort so that education reaches the most vulnerable. In this phase, my skills in communication, data management, recruitment, website handling, etc., improved drastically. This is surely a platform to learn and improve for some, whereas a platform that makes dream come true for others.
I have been volunteering with Bhumi since 4 years now. For me, Bhumi is an emotion. I just love and feel blessed to be a part of this noble cause. I have seen underprivileged children getting benefitted in terms of education, resources and awareness of our surrounding. I hope to continue my volunteering journey as long as I can.
My internship at Bhumi NGO over the past three months has been a truly rewarding journey. Working in volunteer recruitment, I had the opportunity to connect with a diverse group of motivated individuals eager to make a difference. This role challenged me to refine my communication and interpersonal skills, and I learned so much about the intricacies of volunteer management and engagement. The team at Bhumi was incredibly supportive, providing me with the guidance and autonomy I needed to thrive in my role. Overall, this experience has deepened my understanding of community impact and reinforced my commitment to social work.
"I had an enriching internship experience at Bhumi from September 25, 2024. The organization provided a structured introduction, clear communication, and diverse responsibilities. I developed skills in:
- Team management
- Recruitment (screening interns, creating call templates)
- Data collection (researching college contacts)
- Communication (addressing doubts, emailing supervisors)
Bhumi's work culture emphasizes teamwork, adaptability, and proactive learning. I appreciated the supportive seniors, flexible work environment, and opportunities for growth.
Recommendation: Bhumi is an excellent platform for interns seeking hands-on experience and skill development in a dynamic nonprofit organization."

I have been volunteering with Bhumi since 2018. It has been a lovely experience. Bhumi offers a variety of causes all under one roof and they have an extremely inclusive culture which makes it different from other ngo’s. Volunteering with Bhumi has not just enhanced my skills but has also helped me grow personally
I had worked as a Social Impact Intern in Bhumi NGO on the month of Feb-2024, where I have learnt various skills like fundraising, team management, Research skills, Community engagement, etc., I would like to thank Bhumi NGO to give us a new learning experience on these areas. A special thanks to Ramya Jayalakshmi Iyer, who had been our mentor for this internship, helped us in guiding and learning new things during the Internship.
It is inspiring to see the passion of the founders's with great vision to provide education to the underserved has transformed and expanded to various schools in various parts of the nation. Also, I feel Bhumi has touch-based a child's education journey in their life through diverse school Education programs. The educational gap that was created by school closure during the COVID-19 pandemic was a massive disaster, but Bhumi which was already actively engaging in this innovative education programs was able to bridge the gap brought positive impact/changes for the underpreviliged section of the people. My best wishes for more interventions.
Bhumi is doing exceptional work for the community causes. It is making a difference in the society and needy people's lives. I appreciate the organization's dedication.
Bhumi offers a nurturing environment where volunteers and employees can take on new projects, lead, learn and drive self and impact!
Bhumi offers a great platform for passionate individuals to create a positive impact through volunteering. My top three reasons for cherishing Bhumi are its autonomy, the strong sense of community, and the nurturing atmosphere it fosters.
It was amazing and I really love working with such an amazing team. I get a lot of exposure and on field experiences. On top of that I get to improve my interpersonal communication, teamwork and this internship taught me to be more efficient. I am really grateful for the opportunity.
A great platform to contribute to the society. There are many civic volunteering events as well as scope to teach kids at shelter homes. The entire process is very systematic and gives a lot of satisfaction. Thank you bhumi.
I immensely value the 6 months long internship period with Bhumi. I learned, grew, and got many fun-filled opportunities to implement my learning. Every task I did help me grow and I never knew I could do so much. The skills I learned actually helped me grow and last but not least my manager was the best. He has put so much effort into me, I owe a lot to him. He's not a manager, but an absolutely amazing mentor. Thanks to Bhumi and special thanks to Suraj!!!
I had recently done an internship with Bhumi as part of Eco champs program. It was truly an amazing experience, the people over there make us take ownership and responsibility and they give full support to our decisions.
Overall I had fun and enjoyed the experience. The cause they are working for is truly needed at this point of time. It was a refreshing take on society and my small contribution towards its betterment.
I have joined Bhumi as a facilitator for School Transformation Programme 4 years back and now working as an Assistant Manager for Ignite Communities project of Bhumi. The number of opportunities that we get is very high and the organisation is very open to new ideas and initiatives that a change driver or a volunteer brings to the organisation. The opportunities that I got from Bhumi has helped me evolve as a professional. It showed me working in a social sector requires a lot of self-discipline, self-motivation and a lot of intent. I would always thank Bhumi for all the learnings that I had till now.
I have been volunteering with Bhumi for 4+ years now. I have been teaching kids here, their energy and curiosity to learn something is what that makes you motivated and the sense of satisfaction you get after they learnt something new because of you is one of the best feels. This provided me a platform to not only give back to society but also groomed me in all aspects. No doubt it pays you in six figures - SMILES!
I have been a part of Bhumi as a CD since last year. A lovely and friendly working environment, where I can gain more knowledge every day. I feel proud to be a part of Bhumi.
I am a part of Bhumi as a volunteer and a CD. I love to be a part of the organisation and very happy to work with the team in all kind of situations.

I volunteered with Bhumi for their Socio-emotional learning program and was very impressed by how they had structured the program, the content they had developed, and the professional yet involved way in which it was delivered. Bhumi has a highly committed team, that's truly passionate about making quality education available to every child.
Since then I've had a chance to see how other Bhumi teams work and how they mobilize volunteers, and it's very inspiring. No idea seems too small or no effort too large if they think it will help to further their goals.
I did an internship in Bhumi. I gained lot of knowledge during that one month period. It was very useful and very much relatable to the current education system in India. The team also did a great job in coordinating events for us. I was a great experience and I was happy to be a part of this team
It was great experience while working as an intern here. I learnt a lot and got chance to interact with many people.
I had a great experience working with Bhumi, the mentors guided throughout my internship and i gained valuable experience.
The NGO is worth and helped me to do my internship very effectively. The staffs are very supportive and motivated.
Highly Recommended.
This 2-month journey with Bhumi has helped me groom my skills and explore my passion. The immense support and flexibility provided by the non-profit allowed me to function with full creativity and independence with the right amount of guidance. It was indeed a great journey and the lessons learned during these 2-months are going to stay with me forever. Thank you Bhumi for giving me this opportunity.
it was a very good experience working with bhumi.everyone was friendly and cooperating my overall experience was good
It so a good opportunity for college students for communications, I enjoyed the internship ,But I have online classes and assignments so that's while I wind up my volunteer internship Tnku saravanan sir for a better experience .
It was a great experience communicating with registrants and researching on top educational institutions in India and Tamil Nadu and devoting time for the welfare of the youth. I absolutely loved this platform. Lots of good wishes for future success. Keep spreading smile, love and laughter.
Bhumi is a dedicated non-profit organisation, pulling in all the youth of the nation to make this world a better place through its various projects.
As a volunteer, Bhumi has and still helps me to become a responsible person!

Volunteering with Bhumi has been incredibly satisfying with a sense of happiness from the kids. Bhumi has opportunities for volunteers to enhance themselves at the same time benefiting the needy people of the society. The various initiatives taken during the alarming time makes it unique and an organization which fosters development in the country.
Bhumi has given me opportunity to develop my skills through Volunteering. Bhumi team is very friendly and you will feel like you are working with your friends and everyday is learning and you will enjoy Volunteering.
I joined Bhumi in 2018 and these 2 years has been something spectacular for me. I had so much to learn and I had so many opportunities. My learning not only helped me grow as a leader but also develop self. The amount of trust they show on us cannot be shown even by the individual on himself. They motivated me a lot and made me what I am today. A lot more learning to come.
There are many NPOs working arround with different ideologies, but Bhumi works in slightly different way, here we can see young India working for the society. Moreover the youths volunteering owns the organization. To give an example, I once had a desire to do a distribution drive for underprivileged children, this desire turned into my passion after joining with Bhumi, now any thing I want to do for the society , I do with help and support from this NPO. Along with volunteering this organization I developed many softskills. Experienced a lot co-volunteering, got the opportunity to lead a cause.Honestly speaking its better to join volunteering with Bhumi and experience rather than reading my review, because that will help you learn about this NPO.
:) Volunteer and become a saviour ☺
I love working with the team of Bhumi. Such an enriching experience. Great way of building connections and skills.
I’ve worked with NGO’s previously so I was expecting to experience something similar with Bhumi too. But my experience as an intern was different and really enjoyed. I’d wish to work for longer but couldn’t for personal reasons. Im glad I’ve been part of Bhumi and would love to be part of the time in the future again.
I have been volunteering with Bhumi for 3+ years and never looked back the date I joined.
This nonprofit organization has become my constant motivation personally and simply one of the greatest platform for Children at Shelter Homes. Not only education for Kids but Bhumi strives to help the society in all ways possible, starting from aspiring youth Volunteers to strive their young minds and skills towards making the impossible things possible.
I'd always give a 5 star for Bhumi for its excellence.
One of the best NGO i have ever worked with.
Being a social enthusiast, BHUMI gave me option to serve at a greater scale adding to my knowledge and work.
I thank BHUMI for all the opportunity it gave and would love to work in future as well.
It's almost a year since i started volunteering in Bhumi. It first started with a sport event held by Bhumi in Madurai with HCL foundations from there to RTE, I'm extremely delighted to be a part of this NGO
It really feels good to be part of and working up with Bhumi NGO, as we together, give awareness to people on RTE act and help many children who are unable to study because of their family situations, when you realise that many children are getting benefited and you know that are one among them who helped in getting that benefit, it really feels great. Kudos to the BHUMI NGO and it's staffs.
I'm really happy to with this Bhumi NGO. It's useful to develop my patience and interpersonal skils. While calling for RTE, i had a different experience. Thanks for it
I am part of bhumi fot past 5 years and its been a great experience for me to learn more about our society and the need we have in our society. Its a great platform to meet great and Passionate Leaders and amazing people. Being intern in bhumi just adds icing to the cake.
It was the experience of a lifetime. Although I have been working as an intern for just a few weeks now, I could gain a great deal of unique and fantastic knowledge concerning my career. I would like to thank Bhumi for giving me such a wonderful opportunity.
It was a great experience. Everything related to marketing of the ngo to painting shelter homes to teaching students, everything was really well organized and I learned so many new things.
Bhumi is one of the finest, well- structured organizations. It has provided me a platform wherein I learn everyday while leading others to the same.
After being a part of the YRCS club of my degree college, Bhumi NGO provided me a wonderful experience. Bhumi has provided me an amazing internship experience as a volunteer and intern. I too was able to give hand to many needy in and around the city. Eventhough I was not able to change an entire society, I was able to make few handful be aware on Right To Education (RTE) ACT. I had a wonderful one month with Bhumi.
My experience with Bhumi has been a very pleasant one. Bhumi gave me a sense of satisfaction in being able to part my knowledge to the children. Help them with there necessity, fulfilling there wishes through the "JOY to the WORLD" campaign. Building my skills to interact with professional people, corporate bodies for various donations. I can't thank bhumi enough for the opportunity it provides for every individual to volunteer and give it back to society.
I had a holistic experience interning with Bhumi. I had the opportunity of working on important aspects that happen behind the scenes at this lively organization. This made me aware of the plethora of events Bhumi had conducted in over the past couple of years with the aim of making a difference in our society.
Was a good experience but i was expecting more on Bhumi . May be the time provided for us was less to explore. Overall a neat amd good experience.
I would say this one month is the bestest part of this pandemic time for me.I done cold calling internship.I would say it is really a bliss speaking with people all over Tamilnadu and creating awareness about an important thing this time.
Bhumi is one of the largest youth based platform that works towards education of underprivileged children.
With this said it looks after children's future and also youth so that they get engaged and they also have some direction for their good future.
Started my journey in 2017.
Being a young widow (Age 30) had hardly any dreams next.My name is Swapna and I did not have a dream to Bhumi Volunteers came to me introduced the largest youth based platform to me.
It was not just Volunteering for me for me it was a medicine for my resurrection.
As said had no hopes what I would be doing further before Bhumi .But slowly started with their LES chapter.Every Sunday 2 hours I used to go spend time with children and teach them. For them it was initially Swapna Akka comes.Slowly life bonding with the kids became so much that we even took them to a Dairy Farm
I also happen to participate in one of the School Painting Competition.
With the above said life also turned positive. And today placed in one of the relatively good organizations.
What an organization Bhumi is!!
In my resurrection journey Bhumi really played a important role
Thank you Bhumi and Bhumians.
For every youth(20-30) I would say I joined late in Bhumi still I made a child smile
But young teens must join Bhumi it is very much recommended.
Some one told me once Bhumi is Volunteer Volunteer is Bhumi and I believe that..
By done internship in Bhumi organisation I have gain my knowledge in script writing and doing survey
The organisation teaches kids new and volunteers to come up with innovative ideas from daily lives and also how can we do n number of things to execute it and help the underprivileged children get the basic that is essential for a human infant.
Would thank the organisation from my behalf to help me develop and grow.
Bhumi is one of the best NGOs that I have worked with. The organisation is very structured and works for a novel cause involving but not limited to environment and education. I request more volunteers to join us and act towards the cause.
Bhumi is not just a non profit organisation, it is an actual emotion. The causes which bhumi works for is commendable and the unity, team work and strength of this youth based volunteering organisation is really appreciable. I am glad to be a part of such an organisation, where I am not only helping the cause but growing personally at the same time!
Awesome place for volunteering, to spend our free time at something productive, to work for a cause in education, environment, animal welfare or any field, Bhumi helps us to get that platform easily.
"We don't have to be great to start we have to start to be great",... A step into Bhumi, was a step into a constructive change in me. It's been more than 7 years since when I joined Bhumi, but, today, when I turn back, I could just Mark my life as Before Bhumi and After Bhumi... A lot of experiences, a lot of friends, a lot of unforgettable moments...!... A positive catalyst that brought in a constructive change in me, through many angels in here, through their experiences and much more.. ... I am proud to say, I Change Today, I Change Tomorrow, through Bhumi... #foreverbhumian

Change today...Change tomorrow
I have been with Bhumi of the past 6 years. When I started, Volunteering was a weekend getaway for me, but now it's my everyday job. And am enjoying each and every bit of it.
I have volunteered with various non-profits but Bhumi always holds a special place in my heart. It is one of the few NGOs I know which puts in dedicated effort for the growth of volunteers. The Learning Opportunities that Bhumi has provided me has helped me a lot in Personal and Professional growth.
Bhumi is more like to platform for us to Volunteer, Lead, Thrive.
I have been volunteering since 2017. Bhumi gives you an opportunity to learn and grow. you can develop leadership qualities. Working for a good social cause gives you the real happiness.
I have been working with Bhumi for about 4 months now and it has been a revelation because each day is a different experience. The different people I meet, the varied volunteering opportunities, gives me the satisfaction of working towards a good cause. The NGO is multi-faceted such that it works in all social needs i.e. environment, animal welfare, community development with primary focus on education. I also love that Bhumi gives the freedom to its employees to work with any projects that they resonate with and the organization fully supports them with any form of support.
As expected, the words "One Team, One Dream" strongly echoes with Bhumi
I was in search of an NGO to start of my social service career. At that time itself, I came across Bhumi and I was totally attracted towards it looking at the wide range of causes they have. Bhumi was the one to help me get my real happiness and understand my career area. I have been with Bhumi since 2018 now, but got to take ample number of roles to bring out the leadership skills inside me. Here, is where I learnt, 'There is no "I" in Team, but there is a "U" in Volunteer.'
Hello all ! I am Alankrita volunteer in bhumi since 3 and half years . Initially I was very much eager to join an NGO when I was in first year of my college then I started surfing on Google about the list of ngo's and this was the first NGO where I got immediate response and I was very happy to join as a bhumian . Frankly to speak the day I joined bhumi I was really introvert and did not have any contact later on I got to see a lot of change in my self irrespective of whatever it is now I am really proud to be part of this organization . Because of this organization I was able to build my self in a better version and for the better cause . Have volunteered for Right to education , Nakshatra and Eco champs and now I am coordinating for our new project Care for elders which is really great . Thanks to Bhumi for providing me this opportunity ☺️
I m Tejaswi . I love to do social work but was in search of best platform to do service and then I found Bhumi . I stared as an a volunteer Eco Champs season - 1 and now stared our own project "Care for Elders" . Bhumi is the best platform to serve the nation . I just love & proud to be in Bhumi .
"Share good and you will get back Good "
I started my volunteering four years back. Bhumi thought so many things in this short span of life. It helped me to develop myself in so many ways. It thought me money is not the only way to help the society, it thought me value of so many things which i neglected before. It thought me diferrent way of showing empathy and anger is through working your way in the field! Bhumi not only an organisation to me its a inspiring tool where many inspirational people are sculpted!
Hi...My name is Satish Puthran & i have associated with Bhumi since 02nd September 2017 with Bhumi India Run Mumbai on 03rd September 2017 at Bandra Fort...Its been 2 years i have been associated with it...I was part of Nakshatra Arts & Nakshatra Sports event Mumbai chapter...Working with Bhumi is like a family...We work as a team & not as individual... Volunteers r so energetic once they start won't stop...Currently associated with Bhumi Mumbai Catalyse Team these volunteers are extra ordinary...All filled with energy...Hardwork pays off finally with smiles on everyone's face...
I joined BHUMI NGO around 1 year prior. This NGO cover all aspect of public issues from education to underprivileged childrens to civic activities. It has 3 main branches i.e. Ignite, Refresh and Catalyze. Which ever group you join u and your ideas are not only appreciated but implemented with appropriate action. That makes volunteers bind to this NGO as long as they can. I am now mainly in catalyze group. In catalyze we are not only volunteering for events but also can organise cleanup drives by our own, and bcoz of this enthusiastic team we are now able to volunteer two events on a single day.
I would like to thank BHUMI for this opportunity, and I am surely gonna be with you as long as I can.
HAPPY VOLUNTEERING FOR OUR MOTHER EARTH.
It's a great NGO for Social Civic Activities. Everyone got energy and responsibility to do something for environment and People around.
It is really a nice experience volunteering with Bhumi. I have been attached with Bhumi since a year. People here are really cooperative. People in ' lead bhumi ' are really justifying their role in very effective manner. I think bhumi is really a great platform to contribute something towards the society.
Bhumi reaches out to the masses in its unique way. Volunteers are given freedom and are also groomed to be leaders.
The reach out of Bhumi has helped many beneficiaries. It helps all the willing people to develop the society into a better one by constantly working for various causes.
To me Bhumi is like a family connecting as many individuals possible, for the betterment of the country.
The Best NGO who mostly focused on Volunteering which is needed in society and it will build future for us. They have Ignite project in which SUPPLEMENTARY EDUCATION is provided to under privilege kids on weekends. And once you join Ignite project, it will be your Life...! Also for social welfare they have Catalyst program which focused on different causes like Environment, Traffic and others. The Best part of Bhumi and my Fav is NAKSHATRA, just imagine more than 600 under privilege Kids having Talent Fest for one day, showing their skill and talent in front of world, dancing at a time with 200 volunteers. Thats on another level. Bhumi is best place to volunteer.
One of the best NGO in world to volunteer, here we can volunteer for eduction to kids and we can volunteer for animal welfare, environment, health and civic initiatives too.
You will get self satisfaction for helping others and learn leadership skills too.
I had worked with Bhumi on a project called Nakshatra'18. The project was all about giving unprivileged kids an opportunity to participate in various cultural competitions including singing, dancing, painting, quizzing. I personally had a great time being there and helping the team for operations. There was a huge team of volunteers who were helping in operations and on ground execution. The event was a huge success for a team having very less experience in event management and It got a really good response from various shelter homes across Mumbai as well. I feel very very proud to be associated with Bhumi. The core team members of Bhumi were extremely nice and cordial, throughout the event they helped all the team members to get things done quickly. I am really looking forward to engage in more initiatives like these in future.
Its a amazing experience being a part of BHUMI. Its good platform for those who really want to help others ,stand for them as well and lot more.
Great place to start over or restart your social volunteering experience. Great team. Diverse field of work. Great for personal and professional development. Join us fast
Ever since I' ve joined Bhumi, it pushed me beyond my limits. I've participated in flash mob, made new friends, instilled in me a new sense of confidence to communicate proficiently as well as respect for every other individuals. It's more than just a NGO, it's equivalent to a family driven towards the common goal of establishing a better society through volunteering.
I am Anushka Chopra, Jewelry Designer.
I have literally experienced the Joy of Giving, by being a part of BHUMI.
It is a pleasure to work towards organising, planning and implementing the Events designed for Volunteer Engagement and Simulataneously spreading good in the world.
Happy Giving!
I have been working here for like one month. Its a great experience.I have always wanted to be a part of such an institution and Bhumi has given me that opportunity.Bhumi is really doing a praiseworthy job and I am proud to be a part of it.
I have been working with bhumi from August 2018. And it have been a wonderful experience. It helped me to become a part of change that we hope to bring in our society.
Best experience I've had in my life. Great community of hard working people committed to bringing on a social change.
Bhumi ha given me the opportunity to share my knowledge with underprivileged children and at the same time I can be a part of the civic initiatives too. The employees and volunteers are too great to be around and the fact that we are making volunteering a habit is just amazing.
It has been a great journey in bhumi.
Have been a part of lem in the past and currently in catalyst.
We have received lot of good things from society and with bhumi I feel that we can give good back to the society.
All the volunteers And co ordinator are always encouraging which motivates us to go another step ahead and take new responsibilities.
I used to teach computers during my initial days of volunteering, one fine day when I was teaching to my kids, suddenly a kid whom we used to teach the year before came into the class and thanked us by stating that because of our classes he was able to excel in his school when they introduced him to computers. That one incident was the turning point in my journey as a volunteer which motivates me to date to continue on this journey.
Bhumi is not only a great platform for you to make an impact in the society but also for self-development and gives a wide array of opportunities to bring in the leader within you.
Hi
A upset and lonely girl, whose work and worth was appreciated by herself which gave her confidence to say she is good.this task was completed and dream was materialised by bhumi
With the motivation to Change Today for a Better, equal and a sustainable Tomorrow, Bhumi works in the field of education,Environment and many other civic initiatives. They train and provide a platform for youngsters and students to contribute to a equal society and motivating them to pursue their passion at all levels. Bhumi also works to increase awareness on various schemes like Right to Education,Road Safety Awareness programmes etc. which directly impacts the public. Bhumi is an enabler that drives youngsters and other public to be the change they wanted to see.
Bhumi - One of the best in the field of NGOs.
Operates from multiple cities in India. Very well organized and has an unique structure, hierarchy and provides a great platform for Volunteers to explore their own talent and knowledge to teach, facilitate and educate the unprivileged of the society.
Bhumi is a fun nonprofit for volunteering. Though it lacks organization a little bit, the work we do at Bhumi is fun and satisfying, making us happy by seeing the smiles on the childrens' faces whose life we touch as well as the smiles in the community were we implement environmental safe keeping measures.
Bhumi is a great place to volunteer. I am part of Bhumi's Ignite team. The greatest feeling that you get by volunteering is by knowing by the end of the day you have impacted some lives for the better or worked as a team for conserving our environment. And, to be frank, by volunteering with Bhumi, I get that feeling.
Joining Bhumi had been one of the life changing experiences for me. I started up as a volunteer and got more involved as a coordinator after an year. The key differentating aspect of Bhumi is that it has something for everyone. For people who could give an year-long commitment and interested in teaching, there are a number of teaching options. For those who are uncertain of their commitment timings, short term volunteering options such as event coordination is available. Bhumi had also been a platform and helped realise a few volunteer ideas into full scale projects and that's something very special. The time with Bhumi for me has been really great and I'm looking forward for a lot more of it!
Bhumi , in the vernacular language means "world", and is indeed a little world of its own! My one year association with Bhumi has drastically changed the way at look at others, my society and at myself. As a volunteering platform that encourages people to share love by doing what do what they love to do, i presume that this is one important factor for bhumi having such a strong volunteer base, and even with such high number of volunteers with varied thoughts, it has been able to keep all things organised. So if u were one, in the pursuit of - wider horizons, a contentful life, handful of people to mentor and motivate you, and looking up on opportunities to little-by-little develop a better tomorrow, bhumi could be ur best hit. But beware, the unconditional love of our little kids could leave you awestruck.. And the enthusiasm of the volunteers here are very much contagious :P !!
As in the case of many Bhumians out here, there are highchances that ur " pleasure of volunteering" could transform to a "passion" then!!
I've volunteered in Bhumi since 2015 and it has been a great experience. You not only get the satisfaction of helping an underprivileged child or the environment, but alsl get the opportunity to develope yourself. Bhumi trains you and exposes you to various opportunitys where you deelope yourself as a leader. Bhumi family welcomes everyone with a open hand and give you and unforgettable experience.
Bhumi - The best thing in my life!!!
I started to volunteer for Bhumi from 2014 and that was the best thing that I did ever in my life. Bhumi primarily focuses on supplementary education to the under privileged children. And also it supports all other possible work to make a change in this society.
Volunteering at Bhumi has always been not only giving something to the society, it has been also learning a lot of things. Yes!! Bhumi is also a platform for every volunteers to improve their skills in many aspects.
I had the great privilege to volunteer for Bhumi chapter in Kolkata. Initially I volunteered short term with them on "Joy to the World" . I was blown away at the incredible work the were doing, the kind of impact they created in terms of actual change. The commitment of the Chennai Volunteers was Inspiring, most were volunteering along with their regular jobs. I decided I wanted to volunteer for them and now even though I am not a full time volunteer I know I will always be there for Bhumi.
Bhumi believes in bringing real change in education system, I believe in the structure of Bhumi, of facilitating education during weekends by young college students and professionals. Its a two way exchange of values and I can say with confidence, the experience brings in more Integrity and Authenticity in the Volunteers.

I have been associated with Bhumi for more than a year now. I cherish every moment with Bhumi. It has given me an opportunity to do what i have always wanted to do. A platform to help out children who need it the most. I am helping out more volunteers to help out as many children as possible. Bhumi is driven almost entirely by volunteers, and for a pan India non profit organisation to work, the volunteers need to be self motivated. This self motivation only comes when we have an organisation like Bhumi. Three cheers for Bhumi!
Bhumi - NGO ! One of the most beautiful part of my life :)
Bhumi is amalgamation of everything in life.
Learning, childhood, fun, helping, mentoring, future, social, environment, leaders, love, family, friends, dreams, daring, caring and all things !
Going by my personal experience of being an introvert and now getting recognised for my people skills has been great.
Its an platform where the volunteers gives in completely to the cause and receives double in return. Be it in form of fun, experience or the learning for the lifetime.
I believe its privilege and lucky to be a volunteer.
Volunteering has become a hobby and a passion !
Bhumi is a wonderful platform for gelling up with kids .. It also refreshes our minds and makes our relationship with kids more stronger. It's a very good thought and the leaders should keep it up!
Been volunteering since past 4 years. Not a dull moment and more than I could teach the latest ds they taught me a lot in return. This experience has been life changing... And I cannot thank enough everybody associated with it. It's a mega network of volunteers fastened together by common interests and Bhumi employees at the same time. Always full of help and advices, suggestions to the volunteers that seek. Plus ample opportunities within to explore one's own potential to the fullest!!
Bhumi is dedicated towards the holistic development of the children associated with it. It not only provides education for the children but also extract the best out of them, recognizing their talents and providing a platform to boost their confidence.
Do you want to be "a part" of change or "a driver" of change? The choice is yours!
...If you have a vision for a sustainable community and possess an unquenchable thirst to convert your vision to reality, BHUMI offers you the platform!...The platform to "drive" your vision and create a communal impact! With a wide array of basic subjects to ignite the flame of literacy amongst the unprivileged kids, I chose to teach Computers and was able to reach out to some of the most isolated corners of our social framework ...and let me tell you the experience has indeed been rewarding! Strong systems are in place to promote volunteerism, cover more and more areas and centres by expanding operations year-on-year, and hone not only the unexplored talent in our kids but also the "leader" in our volunteers.
You grow as a person, you learn to be patient, you make new friends, you become responsible........
.......
Bhumi has given the best platform to a lot of students and i believe it has helped in nurturing the life of many kids.the teaching is very systematic and it is an amazing experience volunteering with them
Great work being done by bhumi. I can see kids doing great in their exams after our help. Without bhumi it wouldn't have been possible.
working with bhumi from last 1 year . it is an orginasation wich working on pure basis of volunteering for childres. transprant clear & well organized NGO
Bhumi. Makes my life Complete. Started volunteering to give something to society. But ended up getting motivated and flooded with positive vibrations. Thanks Bhumi!
A cause is all that matters for all the works you do. I found how it should look like after volunteering with bhumi. A satisfaction, impact, understanding, meaning, sustainability, efficiency i have understood how to add it in everything i do. Most of all doing everything with a smile, no actually a laugh... laughters... a roaring fun. Its going to be 2 years now but it has made me learn more than the decade i spent in classrooms.

Bhumi this word these days means a lot to me. This is a place i lookout to reach out to the society; the society that gave me so much so far. I have realized that my potential is exploited best here via volunteering which has internally changed a lot of me. Which i get to know from people reviewing me. I feel just as if i found a way to reach my inner sanctum and satisfy my zests hidden so far.
Bhumi, the best thing that happened to me. I had always wanted to help the underprivileged children but was clueless about "how". Bhumi provides us with a great opportunity to connect with kids and help them as well as ourselves while volunteering. My journey in bhumi, till now (2 years) has been nothing but fulfilling. It also helps us get connected to like minded people, providing room for discussion , innovation and improvement for the causes we work for. Happy volunteering :D
Bhumi deserves more than 5 stars! Bhumi molded me into a responsible citizen. The happiness and pleasure we get by volunteering is the best feeling I've ever had and the credit goes to Bhumi. Its not just the kids who benefit from Bhumi, benefit is for volunteers as well. bhumi has made me what I am today. Thank you Bhumi, for all that you have given me. The kids, the environment, volunteers, everyone wand everything in this world will be thankful to you, forever

Bhumi is one of the best things that happened in my life. The best stage I got to lend a helping hand to the under-privileged. Most of the children undergoing this programme turn out succssfull. It helped me realize my own worth and in many cases, it made me grow as a person. The amount of pleasure I gain during each minute when i do some bhumi task is priceless. Thaks to Bhumi for helping me to give the kids the best ever possible gift, the of education. I am thankful to bhumi for whatever it has done to the society as well as myself.
It's unfortunate that I can give only 5 stars to Bhumi, how I would love to give so many more! I have been associated with Bhumi since 2008 - actively until 2012 and not so actively now and forever. The association has given me more than I could have imagined - freedom to ideate, support to implement and motivation to do more.
The time I spent with the organization has changed me in ways which have helped me excel personally and professionally. I gained some BFsF (Best Friends Forever) and amazing memories which I will cherish always.
This is the kind of organization which makes volunteering sound cool and believe me, for 2 hours you spend every weekend you will get so much selfless love from the kids and you will learn things about yourself which you never knew existed. So whenever you want to give back to the society, don't look too far; Bhumi is there everywhere now. ;)
Happy Volunteering!
I have been volunteering with Bhumi since 2007. With a masters degree in Operations Research, I volunteered to teach computers at a children's home. But today, that has evolved into something much bigger and has become my identity. I hold the cause, its people and its beneficiaries close to my heart. Bhumi has given me the platform to understand real life, meet and interact with like-minded individuals from different pockets of the country, and most importantly, transform the lives of children who need us the most. Thank you, Bhumi. You've become an inseparable part of my life.
Bhumi is a great platform to work towards the betterment of the society and playing a part in shaping the future of our country by providing quality education to the kids.Education and creating awareness are the best possible way to serve nation as the famous quote explains "Give a man a a fish, you feed him for a day.Teach a man to fish, you feed him for lifetime".Quote says it all.
Moreover,Bhumi has been amazing and full of learning experience.I have learnt a lot from kids and events like Hi5,JTW have taught me a team work and have added extra value,self-satisfaction and confidence to the life.
Proud to be BHUMIAN :)
Its just two years i have been with bhumi but it seems to be long time as i have so many memories with kids and volunteers..I always wait for weekend to see how we can implement our thoughts & activities for kids but kids surprise us with their input in each.Everybody is so involved and excited ,whenever we plan any activity for kids it seems to impossible but that doesn't end over there. All of us put great effort to make it successful. When we are alone hardly we get an idea for any activity and when we are with kids oh my god !! it seems brain is flooded with ideas ....we truly justify hours which we are stealing from kids play time.whenever any event comes in all pitch in irrespective of project, zone etc that's make perfect team and event.
Working with Bhumi has given me a lot of Inner Peace. I am very much fond of Children and engaging with them and my co-volunteers gives me immense pleasure. Apart from Volunteering, Bhumi also nurtures the potential skills and leadership qualities from within. Bhumi has also given me the platform to express myself and share my views, where they are equally respected and taken into account as well. Caring and Sharing is what Bhumi is all about. In the end of the day, bringing Smiles in the faces of Children and Volunteers gives me the satisfaction. Happy to be associated with Bhumi and looking forward to do more. Thank You Bhumi

I am very proud and happy to be a part of this wonderful family. I took up volunteering at Bhumi, through my friend. At first, I wanted to spend some time with kids here and make some good moments. But later, it kindled the responsibility into my mind that I'm personally responsible for what these children will become and how they see us and inspire. I'm highly satisfied with what I'm doing and will continue to do this service forever.
Being with NGO Bhumi for 3 years as a volunteer. I was involved in lots of NSS & Rotaract club activities during college days. When I moved to chennai for job, I was searching for good platform which should be an empowerment to the society. I got to know about Bhumi through a friend, which has similar goals of mine. Bhumi is having wonderful platform for volunteering and contribute towards society. Be in education, environment, society, it has an opportunity for all platform to contribute. Moreover you will have the freedom to pour-in your ideas and witness the change by yourself. Also Volunteers have given opportunity to groom themselves personally, socially and professionally by giving different roles in the organization. If you wish to see change in yourself and society, Bhumi is the right platform for you!
It's almost a year since I joined Bhumi now. I was looking out to join an NGO since two years, but every orientation or meeting I've been to, I've never found any work progress and I would eventually drop out of that organisation and I finally lost the interest. But later a friend of mine asked me to check out about bhumi and that's where I found the change. The orientation itself gave me an assurance that altogether we can help alot of kids to achieve their dreams of becoming a successful person. When I first joined bhumi I was hoping to create a change within the kids, But I also realized that I had found changes in myself, Improving each day as a better person. My every weekend would be memorable and eventful with the children at the centre. Their dedication and hard work tells us that there are alot of hidden talents in the city. Also my co volunteers in Bhumi have been of great support to me and I must say I found a new family. A growing family. A family working together to create a change.
being with bhumi for past two years has shown me an insight on what i can actually do for this society. it has brought out the hidden strengths in me and all this comes with a tag of happiness. also the bonding with the fellow volunteers is awesome!!! being with the kids is the ultimate gift of all. i have always wished to be the change i want to see, and being a volunteer with bhumi is one big step in that. instead of complaining on what is there, being with bhumi has helped me to create a solution instead. happy to be a bhumian!!
well it all started two years back where a friend of mine told me about bhumi... just joined out of curiosity to know what actually happening in this organisation... i still remember my first day of my class perplexed without knowing what to do, but the way my kids treated and welcomed me i was overwhelmed.. now bhumi has become my second family, i spend most of the time with these people.. bhumi has tuned me as a good mentor , a good orator and most importantly it thought me to be a good human being.. bhumi is a wonderful place to volunteer, a great platform to showcase your volunteering interest.. it has been a wonderful journey so far and i hope this journey continues...
My two years with Bhumi has been the best phase in my life; I so eagerly await every weekend of every month to get to meet the children and my co-volunteer friends...The thought that my contribution is towards these children's betterment is so self-satisfying...I have learnt a lot from these kids too in turn...I feel so good about myself and I have indeed become a better person after joining Bhumi!
I have forged the best of friendships in Bhumi and being around so many like-minded positive friends is a morale boost like no other.
Love Bhumi!
One of my friend informed me about BHUMI and I knew from the start that it was the right platform to give something back. It has definitely Been a life changing experience so far. At first it was jus a matter of spending a couple of hours with the kids but slowly it became a kind of an addiction. Evey single volunteer will wait the entire week for the weekend, Not to party with friends but with the kids. That's how much we loved our centers. BHUMI can proudly say it has some of the best talents who are leading the organization to a whole new level. We have much more miles to cover and much more chapters to start. All the very best for every single step. :D
I have been volunteering at Bhumi for past 3 years, It is an amazing place to volunteer, where you will have the opportunity to empower the fututre of our nation with the education! Fellow volunteers become your extended family here and the enthusiasm towards serving the society never goes down... One should never lose out on such opportunity and i can proudly say BHUMI played an important role in shaping my character and personality.
Wondering if there could be a better family for me! Two years almost and with each and every day I’ve been inspired by the people around me gaining more knowledge, letting myself out of the box to get trained for various events, meetings and scenarios. Kids.. the best part of happiness and yes I learnt so much from those tiny hearts as much as I learnt from my fellow volunteers. Wishing forward to Live, Laugh and Love more with Bhumians!!
BHUMI is the best thing ever happened in my life. The satisfaction of being with the kids, creating positive impact and spreading more smile is just a small part of BHUMI experience. BHUMI taught me a lot of things, moulded me as a better person. I will credit BHUMI for what ever I am today!
I'm feeling happy and proud to be a part of Bhumi. Being an orphan myself, I have found relations here in the form of Volunteering friends, Children and Mentors. Such a wonderful platform which respects your views and also guides you in a path which benefits the under-privileged children, also inculcates Management Skills of Time, Money and People. Bhumi has transformed me from a normal citizen to a useful citizen to the society. Thank you Bhumi for giving me such a wonderful opportunity. Looking forward to do more by your side. Cheers :)
I have been a part of this organisation for almost 3 Years now. It has been a roller coaster ride for me so far and hope to continue it for long time. Bhumi gives me reason for Joy , celebration . The volunteers energy is high and i have been lucky to work with children at root level .

September 2, 2012 - A unforgettable day in my life. The day i joined BHUMI. At first i just wanna spend some time with those kids and just wanna help them. But the actual thing that happened is : I need some help and i want them (volunteers & kids) to spend some time with me :).. Actually, what i thought is : I want to improve myself more so that i can mingle with those kids.
Its my pleasure and i am too happy to be a part of such a great organization. Its better to say family instead of organization. Even some times i try to come out / leave Bhumi, but i learned that its impossible to live without family. Thanks to everyone for making the days more special.. Nandri..
I have been associated with Bhumi for the past two years. I had had immense pleasure in being a art of an organisation whose core value is to impart Quality education to the children. The dedication and zeal Team Bhumi showcases is indeed a great source of motivation for all the young volunteers to do their bit in making a difference. I am also proud to say that many of my friends have enrolled as volunteers after hearing my story and experiences. I shall continue to put in the best of my efforts to keep up the spirit of Bhumi. Kudos to Team Bhumi.....

One of the best forums for youth to bring about change that they want to see in the society. Lot of opportunities to develop their own skills while working for a worthy social cause. The learning that they gain is immeasurable.
Bhumi is one of the organisations that provides opportunities to youngsters to experience the joy of volunteering! The number of volunteers bhumi has been instrumental in the way they think and grow has been immense. Every single soul who is a part of Bhumi, is a proud volunteer of the organisation! Having been volunteering with bhumi the last 4 years, i personally have experienced the change bhumi has brought in me. One of the organisations that every volunteer, after joining, never wants to leave! Bhumi has given birth to many volunteers. year after year, who take up social service to a whole new level and want to give more to the society. It is because of organisations like bhumi, there will be always be a change tomorrow! proud to be a bhumian!
It's a wonderful experience to be associated with Bhumi as a volunteer and Donor for past 1 year. Though being tired after hectic week schedule in office, weekends making me fresh when I'm entering to schools for classes and mentoring sessions. It's immense pleasure to be part of an association where we are making kids to understand their education needs and making them master in their basics.
Bhumi is great place to spend your worthy time for an social cause. You will get lot of opportunities to build a mastermind for future India. How much effort you are giving, you will learn double from those kids.
Welcome to Bhumi and get experienced your joy by giving!
Been with Bhumi the past 2 years, and it has been a wonderful experience. What Bhumi taught me is something I never imagined..
As I see myself two years ago and now, I notice the difference.
Bhumi has made me a confident individual, and a responsible citizen of the country contributing for the future.
Not just that, the kids taught me more about life, and the friends i made here taught me more about team work, management and organization.
Bhumi made people with similar thoughts meet. As Economists like Amartya Sen, Anne Case, Esther Duflo, Abhijit Banerjee and many more insist - education is the path to development!
Bhumi is thus a stepping stone towards a future developed India.
I am working as a volunteer for Bhumi since last two years. Its been a very good journey with Bhumi. Bhumi provided me a wonderful platform to serve the society.
Its been 5 months since I volunteered for Bhumi and it has been very good journey. Everything is well organised. I am working with group 'Kanini' where we teach computer to kids and one thing that I particularly like is the Syllabus. Its very well written keeping in mind the age group of kids.
Bhumi has been an excellent platform for years to learn, try, initiate, bring change and add value both to the society and personal skills.
After schooling , i was searching for an oppurtunity to serve the society and thats how I ended up in Bhumi . From the day one it has been a great learning experience with so many oppurtunities , u only get to learn more and more :) My experience with Bhumi has got only better every day :)
Bhumi, a new world for me, after entering i experienced the satisfaction more enough in my life!! :)
bhumi has made me a better person in every way. on various occasions i felt i could learn some thing new from the kids They are open and full of love for everyone. They get attached to everyone very soon. They ask u to click their pictures and pose in a way as if they are gona star in a movie. In their own way they end up doing some thing different every day
bhumi has made great effort. the volunteers are leading the way but its the organisation which empowered them to do so.
its changing kids future and also ours, i can say so by my own experience. It gave the satisfaction i needed.
Bhumi gave me a platform to do something for the society in my small way.Providing a platform that involves young students and corporate makes it dynamic and ingenious. The extra care they take to ensure the best for the kids under them is truly exemplary.
My experience with Bhumi has got only better over the last 5 years. I'm really happy to share that I belong to first set of volunteers who got officially inducted into the organisation. The platform which Bhumi has set for youngsters to give back to the society and attain holistic growth both personally and professionally is truly commendable. Having involved in most of the edu as well as annual projects of Bhumi, I can boldly say that Bhumi is one of the best professionally manged NGO in the world. And yes, we always take immense pride and happiness in calling ourselves "Bhumians" *Collars up* :)

Its been more than a year... and still I wonder how i made it to BHUMI. Inspired by Dr.APJ's Vision 2020, I always wanted to do something useful for my society. Orkut came in handy in helping me out to find out the perfect destination - BHUMI. The democratic and transparent rules of this NGO really impressed me a lot.Among the various programs like kanini, MAD(teach English), Think green,Career counselling & little Einstein I preferred to volunteer for MAD. When I walked into the first day of my class for teaching english, I found lot of enthusiastic & energetic students, who had that interest to learn. But I was bit annoyed by the given syllabus as it contained too basic stuffs.Later We understood that these kids doesn't have the proper knowledge about the subject and need to be groomed effectively. Realizing the importance of the structured syllabus, the contents were scrutinized by the tech team. And now we are happy to listen some broken English from those kids, Which we consider as our first success. In the course of year,I found the sustainable-development in terms of programs, number of volunteers and achievements. This gives us some reason to rejoice. As our mission states, We the BHUMI volunteers are sacrificing our today to provide a better tomorrow!!!
Bhumi has been influencing not only the kids but also brings lots of like minded youth to work for a cause and rejoice their work.
Bhumi's projects would take you so close to the beneficiaries which ensures satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment.
I have been associated with Bhumi for more than 5 years and i feel extremely rewarding and would recommend for others too..!
Experience at Bhumi will always be special to me as it was the first place that i had the self realization that i had a larger role to play in society apart from fulfilling my personal needs and enjoying life.It has strengthened my cause to work for educational inequity in our country. Bhumi's volunteer are a motivation to the youth of our country. They belong to the section of society who both continue their jobs to sustain themselves and use their free time to repay back to the society by volunteering during weekends. Bhumi believes that every little contribution matters to make a bigger change....
I don't know where to start. I've been a volunteer of Bhumi, nay strike that, volunteer is too common a term. I've been a family member of Bhumi since June 2010. Most people have a life altering experience once or twice in their lives. I had my experience every week. To have my heart strings pulled by their sweet innocence. To be awed by their never ending enthusiasm despite their social conditions. To be inspired by their passion to change India. They never had money. Not one, and yet no one's life's goal was to earn more money. It was to impact society more. They gave me a welcome break from the every day routine of life. They used to hound, jump, scream every time I came. Made me feel like a Rockstar, and if I missed even one class, the next class they used to be full of questions, concern in their eyes. Was I not well? Am I ok now. They gave me a fresh perspective on life every single day. I'll be back. Once a Bhumian, always a Bhumian. To be surrounded by volunteers, pumped up with passion, that was a different feel. Every volunteer was the epitome of Mahatma's words - Be the change you want to see.
I never went every week to teach. I went every week to learn. Jai Hind.
bhumi has given me a great opportunity to serve the childrens and proud to say that now am a member of a bhumi family. am looking forward to change the society with help of my bhumi family :)
we the bhumians gona , change today nd change tomorrow.
Bhumi's passion and the way they approach the work towards a better society is astonishing. It taught me many aspects of life and made me to understand what good deed is. This sowed the seed of helping others and will continue to do so in the future.

Bhumi!!! I am speaking about a group of vibrant young people who have a vision and stretching by all means to do that. Its not always easy to achieve what you think. But in Bhumi, we youngsters like us doing that with joy and perfection. I am surprised how the whole unit is organised and carrying forward despite so many hurdles. The main weapon we carry to eradicate many social disease is Education. Basic education can eradicate all the basic differences in society. I involved in MAD (Make a Difference), to teach basic English to kids. After every week of teaching to many under privileged kids, my heart fills with joy. When i come out of class and when i leave the school every weekend, the kids come to me and greet in English. I can see the joy and interest and the feel from their eyes. As Gandhi said, "Use English as a medium to communicate only to Foreigners", I come out keeping my heads high and think that when these kids grow up and bring glory to our country, they'l speak at least a word in English what i taught to them. One thing i teach them is whatever heights they reach, don't forget the past and don't forget to help kids like them in the future and don't forget our country. Bhumi has changed my life forever. Life is all about sharing. Sharing gives happiness. Whats the use of learning and keeping in your mind. I feel God has chosen me to share something to someone. I'l teach my kids to share in future. I can see a better India in near future. Jai Hind
My association with Bhumi has been very special. The hard and smart work the volunteers put behind every action is commendable. Every volunteer has the opportunity to be heard. I have had innumerable unforgettable experiences teaching the kids. You get to look into the lives of more people, think and try to do something that could change the way they live. Running behind the kids and making them sit in class adds a lot to the fun quotient in the class. Thinking of new ways to handle the class also kindles the creative side in you.
To quote Winston Churchill,
"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give."
Great to be a part of Bhumi. I wish to see it grow even further. I hope to keep working with Bhumi for as long as I can.
Jai Hind..
I always wanted to do something for the society and bhumi was thr most apt place for me to fullfil this need. Such a brilliantly set up and managed organization, clear and perfect in its motive of serving the society. I loved the experience as a volunteer. Bhumi is the best for both the children we help and the volunteers who help out.
I joined Bhumi in the initial stage of its setting up in jaipur. Wasnt sure of the efforts it has made so far. After coming to pune , i realised how much efforts the people involved are taking for the unpriviledged ones. I am so very grateful to be a part of it. The different types of ways n efforts Bhumi is taking is to be appreciated. I love the work i do being a part of. And hope to contribute in every possible way.
I always wanted to educate the needy. According to me knowledge and lessons which will help someone in life to grow are the best things you can give someone and Bhumi gave me the platform to do that. with Bhumi's activity based classes it is easy and interesting to teach. While volunteering at Bhumi one also learns a lot which helps them in their personal and professional life. For me Bhumi is an extreme fruitful and enjoyable journey.
Bhumi is one among many organizations that strive for social development, venturing into all possible paths of service.
There are quite a lot of groups working for the welfare and development of the needy, but what sets Bhumi apart is it's holistic approach for the development of the under-privileged. It doesn't merely focus on education, but also dedicates a lot of effort in identifying their talents, be it fine arts or sports or any other hidden skills, which generally goes unnoticed and thus often fades off through time.
Bhumi clearly sets priorities in service. For instance, in critical activities such as teaching children, volunteers are diligently selected with great care and professionalism, thus ensuring only the best for the kids.

Bhumi swayed my life from a totally academically oriented one to a socially active one. Being a totally non profitable organization, there simply is no possible chance for controversies. And the factor that the YOUTH play the key role in the organization, development and functioning of Bhumi, makes it unique unlike most other such groups. For the first I got to see like minded people with the same frequency of thoughts and beliefs which creates quite an amiable environment for any.
I learnt a lot while volunteering with Bhumi, it was a life altering experience working for devvelopment of kids in a planned and focussed manner.

There was always a thought somewhere back of my mind to work towards social upliftment.. I am with Bhumi being part of Career Counseling team and also add up as an HR of this organisation.. because I am very very selfish.. Coz, Rather than shy away and criticise the society for its bad state, I always believe that criticising doesn't help but working towards eliminating problems is the right step forward.. this is what gives me happiness and pleasure.. This act of mine also acts as an absorber of my own different small problems.. Coz I get so busy with whatever I do at Bhumi each day that I really don't get time to worry or think about problems and everyday I am left with pleasant memories and thoughts of doing something and not just criticising..
I had always thought of serving the society ever since my childhood. Bhumi gave me the right platform to channelize my energy and pursue my passion. It has not only nurtured my interests and skills but gave me adequate opportunities and groomed me as a leader.
The way they educate children who are in real need are great. They are different, not like other schools where children comes to class with their head down. Bhumi makes children to involve in education. They plant trees. We have lot of fun while doing services.. this makes us to involve more in serving people.
Hi,i'm Vignesh Ramesh,I joined BHUMI last year december if correct to my memory.I must say its been a great privilege to be a BHUMIAN cuz you can actually see your life changing and also you get a chance to change other lives too. I was like a cat in the dark room.... but now ma life has been a bird flying out of sunshine.. thanks to bhumi.... CHANGE TODAY CHANGE TOMORROW
I have been working for Bhumi for the past two months. Bhumi has given me an oppurtunity to give back to the society. It is an organization which channelizes its resources in the best possible way.
I have been associated with Bhumi for a very short period through the TeachIndia Campaign and have not yet got the opportunity to render a helping hand, I would like to appreciate and publicize their laudable services to the children at ICCW. Their MAD ( Make-a-difference) campaign is what impressed me the most
As the name indicates, this organisation is a for the peoples in world.. there is no partiality.. It treats all as same.. I`m proud to a bhumian... I love my INDIA and I like BHUMI... JAI HIND..
Bhumi has given me hope that people still have some humanity left in them and they still think of and care for their fellow beings who are less fortunate, even admist their busy schedules. Bhumi is endowing young minds with the treasure trove of knowledge. And I am happy to be a part of it.
Bhumi changed my life :) Learnt many things from the kids :) It was a great experience. I dont have words to explain.
I got to know about bhumi from some of my friends, many of whom are volunteers. It is heartening to know that there is really a non profit organization which truly works at developing our nation in the midst of many organizations that loot money in the name of social service. Bhumi, which aims at educating students who are less privileged, is a very good attempt at helping the people in the society who are not as well endowed as the others. Hats off to the founders of this organisation and the volunteers.
Hi this is Vijay "I came to know about this organisation through my colleague. The organisation has really did a great job by giving education to underprivileged students. Hats off to bhumi" I think every person who have a inner heart should follow what they do... Help some one if you can..
I was a former volunteer and a present donor. The kind of effort the volunteers put in to provide service especially education to the poor children is commendable. They even have a career counseling program running parallel which provides guidance for higher studies for them. Volunteers mix various activities even while teaching which make the children interested all the while. I really feel they extend their services to other social development activities like neighborhood development etc. All in all I feel, Bhumi encourages the meaning of life through service
It is wonderful to be o part of Bhumi.Bhumi has made me take a step forward to do something for somebody else.It has united people with a vision of doing something for the improvement of the society.I feel honoured to be a part of such an organisation that does not only preach but also shows it in action.I was inspired to join Bhumi as they had projects that involved teaching simple communicative english and computer skills to young kids at orphanges and i thought that was really a great idea as education could get anybody anywhere today. We all realise that this is just the beginning and that there is so much more to do but i am sure that Bhumi will be able to do it , in time.
It has been a wonderful experience working with bhumi.i have been with bhumi for the past 1 year and it has provided us with a lot of opportunities for us to interact with children and it has opened a window for us to learn and teach, educate more than educate it has empowered.
i came to know about bhumi through my friend,i was really a very good organization. Many children got benefited from this organization.
i got into this organisation through TEACH INDIA.. i got into this out of my own interest and its seriously worth it now!! good training sessions for the needed courses are conducted before every session at the orphanage or any other respective centre. co-ordinators and volunteers are at good communication level both in person and through mails... on the whole its a very good organisation to work with three cheers to bhumi:)
A committed bunch of volunteers and mentors working together to bring about radical change in society by doing a very basic thing, ie giving primary and computer education to under privileged children. Not only that working as well for conserving mother nature.
Its really good to know that Mr Prahalathan the founder of bhumi has come forward to help the under privileged childrens in education and to provide them all they need for education. I am very happy to be a member of bhumi.
Very enthusiastic team to work with, and a pleasant experience with a great bunch of folks, whose main is to help others, and make them much more special than they really are.
Bhoomi is an organisation that is very focused and that really wants to make a difference. Any Charity channelised through this organisation i feel will benefit the grassroot level and help in building a better India tomorrow.
I have been associated with Bhumi from Sept 2008 and it has been a quite a journey where personally i have learnt many things. Bhumi gave me a oppurtunity to interact with kids who cannot afford the best of the education and facilities and in sharing my knowledge & experience with them and spend my free hours in a constructive way. Bhumi, as a non profit organisation has been making a huge difference in the lives of many underprivileged kids in chennai by providing support in all possible ways. BHUMI, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK GOING!!
I taught basics of computer science to the students below proverty line. Those students are from government schools and colleges.Bhumi gave that happiness to share my knowledge which i didnt get while working as software engg in india and in US .
I came to know Bhumi through my niece. In a country like India, where millions of underprivileged and unprivileged children who didn't have even one square meal, taking care of them and to educate them is a herculean task for any Govt which has to be supported by the NGOs like Bhumi.

There is a saying in Bhagavadgita, " The world is imprisoned in selfish action: act selflessly without any thought of personal profit :: Strive constantly to serve the welfare of the world: by devotion to selfless work a man attains the supreme goal of life". I always wondered if there can ever be some selfless organizations which would have there goal just to serve the needy, the orphans, the deprived. I now can see that happening in BHUMI, the devotion is true and pure. Such a selfless organization which i admire for their services like MAD, Kanini, Think Green, Little Einsteins, Art from Teaching etc Brilliant programs from which kids can really benefit. They even help the common people with career counselling services. What a boon to a place we live in. They speak not with their logo or advertisements but with their humanitarian service. I am more than happy to be a part of it now and I wish the organization gets the necessary aid for it to perform the best.

My experience with bhumi cannot be expressed in words. It should be experienced by every1 who are willing to join bhumi. Really its a team of young minds with innovative thoughts and very friendly co-volunteers. Happy and proud to be bhumian.

Have been part of bhumi for more than a year. Its been both inspiring to the volunteers and the kids whom they serve. Bhumi's aim of equipping kids english speakingskills and imparting computer lieteracy, its sure going to pave a better futue. The efforts have been awesome in collaborating volunteer resources, computers, scheduling classes and managing diferent locations. Its one network which is grwing with efficiency. And sure it adds a lot of fun.
I have heard muchabout bhumi and impressed with its services rendered to many needy ppl and children. Also My friends are involved in this making it one of the best NGO.
Aims at providing education aid to orphan and poor children. can organize social-cultural programs. Can give support to stand on thier own by help/direct them to start Small scale industries/ business etc
Bhumi is an organization which so far has happened only in films. Only when we see such organizations that all is not lost for humanity. It's a glimmer of hope for the underpriviliged to whom Bhumi has been reaching out so that thier dreams are realised. Hats off to its volunteers and members and wish it to grow even further. P.S : I have just enrolled and I have not been able to take part in any of thier activities. But I have been following thier activities for 3 to 4 months and I can be sure this is not a run-of-the-mill thing where people who want to do good meet and go away. This is something which can sustain itself for a long time.
I am working as a volunteer for bhumi from the past one month and it had been a great journey with them . I feel that education is the only way to fight poverty and hunger in the country . At bhumi , i am happy that i did contribute my part as an individual to make india a better place to live . Thier work for the environmental sustainability is worth mentioning .
The experience with Bhumi was wonderful.. i got the opportunity to give basic english workbooks to the orphans. The work done their was amazing. All the voluneteers interacted with them and taught them with fundamentals of maths and english.
Having been involved with BHUMI for past 1.5 has given a typical sense of fulfillment to me.From times where i just wasted my weekends to times where i looked forward to the weekend for being able to work for the society with like minded volunteers and enthusiastic kids brought in a completeness in me in both personal and professional life.It has been a wonderful platform for me do my little bit for the society. The experience in BHUMI helped me to realize that a little honest effort from each one of us can help us bring huge changes to the society. Our Efforts, which is a drop today will turn into an ocean tomorrow...waves of changes will bring about significant development for all strata of the Indian society.
BHOOMI! i came to know of the organization through my friends who were volunteers in it. within months that they joined, i was as interested in their activities as they were. the thing that impresses me most about Bhoomi is the kind of people they are reaching out to. the destitutes, children, who usually don't get the education and opportunities that normal children do. the fact that Bhoomi lays its focus on them, is to be appreciated. though i've not been an active member of the organization, i am really happy with the way they conduct their activities. one of their activities that caught my attention was their program to educate young children, impart the young boys and girls with the knowledge of math, science and English through volunteers who are generally school and college students themselves. i have personally seen the rapport that the students share with their teachers. it is, indeed, a commendable initiative. Kudos to Bhoomi for the good that they have done, and best of luck for all their future endeavors
I was a volunteer in the kanini group of Bhumi. It was a great experience. I haven't seen such a kind of enthusiasm and dedication in any group. These people are really doing a great job.I was not able to continue there because of my tight schedule but my moral support is always with these people.
its the best experience one can get out of doin somethin helpful for our society. I urge all to come an help us
I came to know about bhumi by my friend . it us the finalist for the asia pacific future 100 youth entrepreneurship. it is a non profit youth volunteer organisation of students and youth professionals
Well..Bhumi is doing a great job in creating awareness. Be it the educational programmes or environmental programs.I feel that education is the true solution to most of the problems we face as a nation. And Bhumi is working hard on this..at the right time and at the right place-Educating the future of any nation is educating the children. They are making a difference! It is great to be a part of it.
1.I came to know abt bhumi through my friend 2.non profit organisation of student young proffessional 3.its very good organisation to join
Science is my body….. between service is my soul……. Both was combined with the help of Bhumi….. thanks to BHUMI……
i am not directly involved in BHUMI but i came to know about it through mu friend.it is currently doing great things to the needy people.hope they will continue the same forever..
I had visited bhumi once as a volunteer and I should say it had been an eye- opener for me. The kind of work they do is phenomenal. The computer courses they teach was such that it made the learning a fun experience. I also took part in raising funds for this organization through plays. Overall it was an immensely satisfyin experience working with bhumi and am looking forward to working with them in the future too. ALL THE BEST TO BHUMI!
It was wonderful experience to be a part of Bhumi. Sharing knowledge is the most satisfying thing to do which bhumi does. Proud to be a part of it.
I came to know about this organization through one of my friends. Educating kids is a very important thing since children are the future of this country and even the world in the broader sense and this has been undertaken by the organisation. Its very nice to see that people are taking such initiatives. They will definitely bring a change.
A year and a half back, I joined Bhumi, a non-profit youth volunteer organization of students and young professionals providing supplementary education for underprivileged children at orphanages and community centers in and around Chennai. I had no prior experience at community service but what drew me to them was their simple concept, devote 2 hours a week on any day of my choice. I could teach English, Computers or be involved in other initiatives of Bhumi like Think Green and Career Counseling. This simple concept helped many a busy working professionals like me, do their small but important bit for society. I was quite happy with this concept as it meant I could chose a convenient time and a convenient subject, English in my case. Within my first few classes, I understood managing children in a class was far more difficult than what one would think it to be. A year and a half now into teaching, I feel I have learnt more from the kids. I have learnt the very meaning of the word patience. Today taking classes is an enriching experience. I see the eagerness and hope in the young eyes. I then feel that I should take my work to any level for them. Bhumi has given individuals a platform to help underprivileged children who have a dream to achieve.
I came to know about this organization through one of my friend, Educating kids is one of the best service that could be offered by an organization. Its very nice to see that people take such initiatives and will definitely bring a change.I would like to take part in bringing that change.
Bhumi- Initally i had a feeling that this foundation is one among the public service foundations for children but then when i had a chat with one of the member (Friend of mine) i got to know that most of the members are young blood and they do these services for social cause and not for any personal benefits. They do this whole heartedly. I wish this organization should reach higher heights and if given an international exposure then i am pretty sure that most of the poor childrens will get benefited to the maximum extent possible.
This organisation involves more youngsters ranging from 20-30 years ols than any other organisation that i have known. The organisation has a lot of initiatives that has attracted so many youngsters to participate in the various work it has done. Bhumi has been publlicised by all its volunteers and has brought help from around every corner.
My experience with Bhumi is very close to my heart. It have made me appreciate small things in life which I had been taking for granted. I am a part of 'Kanini' - A program for educating students in orphanages and corporation schools on the basics of computers and programming. Teaching with Bhumi, has been a great learning experience and it is always a wonderful to be with the kids. Hats off to all the volunteers.
Its a great experience to be a part of BHUMI , a group of vibrant young people , joining hands with determination to change India
i really admire the steps BHUMI is takin to make sure we make a difference.its a gud experience.. teaching kids.
“Nobel Peace Prize winners say: "War and conflict are perpetrated by adults. But every adult was once a child and grew up with experiences and guidance that shaped their lives”. BHUMI is one of those organizations, who were making a change in the development of our nation. I am proud to be a part of BHUMI and I am sure it will make a big difference in the future. JAI HO…BHUMI !!!!!!!!!!!!!”
I am a new member of Bhumi.. I have joined before one month.. I have joine with the help of my friend shakira.. I was very much interested to become a member of bhumi.. I would meet other bhumians coming sunday in career counselling team..
it is one of the greastest organisation ever i have seen. which helps children to a great extent in their education.
I have known about bhumi thru my friend who has been an active member of this organization. It’s impressive to see what a bunch of young talented people who care about a social cause can do. It’s been amazing to see Bhumi's journey from a bunch few friends to a full fledged non-profit organization. I think they are much better managed (professionally) at this stage and have come a long way from their initial days. It's not just a cause that they work for, but they help shape the lives of these young kids in a way which is not only the right of every child but is essential for our country's future as a whole. Its been an absolute pleasure and proud moment to be associated with bhumi (directly or indirectly). Wishing them greater milestones and success.Way to go guys..!!!
I am happy that i could help in fullfilling the dreams of village kids through BHUMI. I also got chance to get in touch with my college friends. The kids are really interested in learning and outshining.
I'm a general member of public I know about Bhumi through my friend. They teach computer thro kanini and english thro MAD and do many more..
okay...so... BHUMI.. this is a Teach India Program, a non-profit organisation as all of us know. Little did know when I went through this article in The Times of India and when I went through about it on the internet.I got to know about this through my friend who was already in this organisation and i also wanted to join after listening to his feedback about bhumi. All i could figure out was this was completely an organisation to teach the needy. When i joined MAD-Make A Difference, say a few months back, i wasnt sure of what i would have to do,if i would be eligible for teaching some one else as i had no experience about this. One more thing i had in my head was that whether i would have time for all this apart from my college schedule. Ok..all this got clarified the very same day i joined Bhumi and went for my first class to teach the kids! wowww.. that was an awesome splendid experience. There are so many people in this organisation, people who study, work almost evryone. The Methodology for teaching the kids, which is ususaly split into different sections based on the way the kids would be able to understand easily is simply mind blowing. I have really wondered if this was the same way all of us were thought during our childhood, we could hav learnt faster and easier !! now, apart from the teaching, small tests are conducted after every unit just to ensure that the kids have learnt everything correct! there is MAD, KAMINI,Career councelling, and many more which are a part of Bhumi.also there are many centers for teaching the kids. the idea on the feedback,i.e.,after every class the volunteer should give a feed back on that particular day's class so as to know where we are lacking, where we have to improve, where we are good, etc etc. Also every week we are updated on our friends, kids birthdays for the wholle week through mails, along with it comes the birthday wishes. now thats a very nice idea for wishing the birthday babies!!! mails regarding the classes schedule, students name lists, volunteer name n batch list and the teach material for the following week are also mailed to all of us!! On the wholle Bhumi is a wonderful organisation where each one could not only teach the kids but also learn atleast one thing new a day by sharing personal experience with each other. Its the Best!!! I have found a lot of difference in myself after joining this org. i have started to plan any task i pick up and make sure i accomplish it without any difficulty. To be honest, i have learnt how to speak in Tamil after talking to the kids after joining Bhumi. !!! I not only Teach the kids but learn for it myself and have ultimately Earned so many friends!!!!
Stupendous!!! I am really glad to take part in this.. I would love to recommend more people to this activity.
Words fall short when we do something that makes us feel happy. I experience the same every week. I really want to thank BHUMI for giving me such an opportunity. Being a part of Bhumi always make me proud and happy and I always want to be one among bhumian.
its so far been a great experience though I am very new to this.Every weekend has become a combo of service & entertainment with the volunteers getting to interact with and teach the children..
Bhumi chennai is a very good Non profit organisation i have come across. Members and volunteers being so young they have wider goal and great enthusiasm in making our society the enriched one. i feel so happy to be part of this NGO
Hi It was a good when i joined the team and helping with their study activities and Bhumi had a good role on their career aspect as well.
I came to know about this organization through Times of India and the activities carried out by them. Activities carried out by them are very useful to poor and children not from good background like unable to spend much money for education. Wish them great success in all their future endeavours. i got a great chance through BHUMI to give something useful to our society especially our youngsters. Past three months i had a wonderful experience to teaching Kanini & CC at PVR Orphanage Kids... they also enjoyed lot and keen to learn more...
I always wanted to do something worthy to my society .. to give back to the society the good things that i received as a child. Although i knew ,this is what i wanted i did not know how to start. I joined Bhumi this year just through browsing in the net. Then after attending the induction program , i realized this is exactly what i had been looking for :- a volunteering program where everything was well organised and people who knew exactly the best way to teach kids i.e in a fun loving way . Every weekend , i realized not only the kids improved their English but also manners and looked upon us as a person they wanted to be.So the kids also become better as an individual. I absolutely believe Bhumi changes lives .. not just life of kids but also the volunteers for the betterment of the world that we live in.
Bhumi is like my another home during weekends. If you really think and feel that you want to spend my weekends valuable, then BHUMI is best. "Spending time with kids and sharing your knowledge who really needs it" - Is this not enough to spend your weekend valuable? "Tomorrow's nation is the hands of todays youth" BHUMI deserves to these words, in fact we are helping to build a strong nation in future by educating kids. Thats why our mission is "Change today... Change tomorrow..."
I got associated with Bhumi when I registered to teach English to children at orphanages (for their MAD program, which was started by my colleague). Bhumi is involved in teaching the underprivileged children, working for the environment, and community development programs. I'm happy to see that every volunteer is fully committed to whatever they do. The teaching program with MAD is systematically planned with orientations, syllabus training and shadow sessions for the teaching volunteers. The children get fun learning materials to work with, which the teaching volunteers get/ make for them based on the syllabus. I appreciate the regular feedback sessions that Bhumi has for its programs, so it can make itself better going forward. Bhumi organizes events like 'Bring smiles,' 'Joy to the world,' and 'siragugal' for the underprivileged children.
hi everyone i have been this community for the past 1yr and it really helped me with technical and non technical also in sense i will be troubleshooting the system to which this community gave me a way to face my fear and also thought me that we are responsible person in this society. In here nobody is king and nobody is slave everyone r equal i liked the way dealing with projects and we have mutual understanding with each and everyone in this group and whatever we do it is transparent and no hidden information is here
this is the great organisation seen, which directly helping the poor children n who realy needed of this kind of teaching n guidence getting the profit from this this is realy benefited for whom who r not financial strong and realy want to do some thing in this growing world
The work that is carried out by the Bhumi organisation is awesome.Lot of us have a tendency to help but a right channel to implement it is still far from reach.Organisations like this Can really change the demarkation lines in the society.Hats off to "BHUMI".
I have been a part of Bhumi from oct 2008.When I joined, I had very little idea how this will become an important part of me.It made me realise that every individual can make some difference to the society and I am proud that through Bhumi I am able to contribute to the society. The best part about Bhumi is that every individual is very enthusiastic about what they do and contribute whole heartedly. The whole system is well organised and every one gets a chance to improve the system with their innovative and creative ideas.
I cherish the day I started working as a volunteer in one of the education centers of Bhumi(WET,Pallavaram,Chennai). It was then that I realized, that how happy one can feel when he shares what he knows with the less fortunate ones. In my view Bhumi distinguishes itself by taking the relation, between us volunteers and the kids, to a different level. We are more than mere tutors for them. For kids we are like their elder brother and sister at home, helping them out and its quite evident by the way they fondly call us “anna”(elder brother”)or “akka”(elder sister)but at the same time doing some mischief or the other!! I have worked in a couple of organizations before, but have never seen such zeal and energy of the volunteers. This energy continues to inspire my wonderful journey with Bhumi. Three Cheers to BHUMI!!! Nath Vivek (kanini WET PALLAVARAM)
Normally people think about youngster they simply do fun related activities and they don’t have any responsibility but in reality totally different because youngster have a capable do anything. Real example for all Bhumi members. I really enjoy every moment with Bhumi. We have to go a long way to make a smile on poor children’s.
I know BHUMI past few years from the time it has actually taken shape. Its a great work and contribution by each and every indiviual to bring BHUMI to this level. Many have been benefited from this till date.I wish all members invovled in this journey to help people around and making a BETTER INDIA.
I was workin for bhumi few months back .. unfortunately i got transferred to another place.. but i m still keepin track of the progress they are making everyday..it was a wonderful experience to interact wit so many people .. i was in kanini and a part of the Career counselling team and used to teach kids at avvai home.. i got to know so many ppl thro bhumi and was thoroughly impressed by the excellent planning and immese hardwork they put in to achieve excellence in whatever they do.. it needs a lot of efforts to bring together so many people and make them work under one common platform .. i wish them all the success in watever they do and for their forthcoming project siragugal
I worked as a volunteer for Bhumi for 2 months and it has been an amazing experience interacting with kids and teaching them. I would like to thank Bhumi for providing me with this opportunity.
I am very proud to work for bhumi ... helping children to grow their knowlegde .... i am not involved in bhumi directly with all activites ....but i am extending techical support to bhumi by hosting the site bhumichennai.org ... to gather people around the world to work for bhumi ... If you want happiness for a lifetime - help the next generation. thats the moto of bhumi .... i am realy thankful to bhumi to make my life happy
Though i have not done my part being a volunteer. I always do my level best in helping people in my own ways. I congratulate the people who actively involve in this activity.
I am having the time of my life.An year ago i was this guy who didn have a purpose in life. With bhumi i get to meet my kids every weekends and share something.I truly am able to make a difference.
For me, Bhumi has helped me rediscover myself. When I first came to know about Bhumi through Teach for India, I considered it the perfect opportunity to give back something to the society as well as discover some meaning to our otherwise toutine life. On joining, I found Bhumi to be a very enthusiastic, dedicated organisation, where the key objective was never lost. Highly motivated volunteers, absence of hierarchial structure, open welcoming of any ideas - and all this from the sourice of tomorrow's strength, that is, today's youth makes it a refreshingly different organisation. Truly, the affection and energy shown by the kids towards their 'akkas' (elder sisters) and 'annas' (elder brothers) at each of the classes is true proof of how Bhumi has reached out to these kids. Recognising their potential, Bhumi strives to nurture them and make them successful in the future. As they say, the proof of teh pudding is in the pudding - the kids have shown enthusiasm, dedication and definitely better grades. I'd say all this is due to: 1) Extremely fresh teaching methods that stimulate interest and involvement 2) Single minded dedication of the volunteers to move towards their goal 3) Involvement of each and every member in any discussion. Kudos to Bhumi and here's wishing they carry on the good work!
Bhumi has given me a chance to share what i was given to without being asked. this organization has helped me understand how important it is to educate the kids and how wel youngsters can go about doing that.
I joined in Bhumi as a volunteer recently and started taking classes for the childrens in corporation schools.Bhumi is a very organised NGO where everything is done in a structured way, which attracted me a lot.All the volunteers in Bhumi was so nice that a new person feels like he is with a known group of people. After i joined with Bhumi i felt lot of changes within me..Taking classes for the childrens gives me a good feeling that i am doing something better.
Bhumi, is helping young under privleged kids to read/write/learn which is pretty much what every parent wants their kids to be. Unfortunately these kids lack the background which is required to make them stand on their own feet. Bhumi equips these kids with education, which is most essential so they land up getting a better job and more importantly become educated citizens of India which is more important, being a volunteer I am glad to be a part of bhumi, and contribute myself in what ever way I can give my time in teaching these sweet innocent kids. I feel really nice in teaching them computers coz that is something im good at and I am happy that I can transfer my knowledge to these eager kids who are most willing and excited to learn so that they can also use a computer not only for their basic works, but to see that they grow up well equipped, educated individuals, and make a mark of their own. Change Today! Change Tommorow! - Murtuza.
It has been only 4 months for me @ BHUMI.. But, right from the story of its conception, to the everday work that BHUMI does for the less priveleged I find all of them to be so encouraging. The best reward that we consider is the love and the smile on the little faces expressed every time we meet them.. The closely knit volunteers every week deliver the best in a collective "V".. And this is simply bcoz of which I am proud to be a "Bhumian".
Bhumi is a energetic group focussed on igniting the minds of youths to help the society through the power of knowledge. The enthusiastic levels of its members are unmatched.
bhumi is an organization that aim to help the under previlged children.....though the children go to school they are better educated through bhumi....i seriously like the way they plan it...it is really very well organized...i have been as a part of bhumi for about 2 months... and i really enjoy teaching the children...though i found it hard for the first few weeks now i am very much comfortable working with them....
HI Its great to be a part of Bhumi As reference to its name Bhumi the earth, it is laying foundation for being conversant in the language of the world English for those who hardly exposed to it mainly slum and poor children. not only this but also this very organisation is making sure that these children get help in future professional decisions. and also these children get exposed to world of extra circular activities and become succesful in it by sirungal. Now comes the experience of being a volunteer which is indeed gr8 though decided on the spur of the moment the journey from orientation to cc to doing motivational presentation looking for professional courses as avolunteer has been interesting. the interactions with kids have been good and indeed a learning experience. In every front being a part of Bhumi has been truly a mindblowing experience indescribbble in words review by vyshnavi
Bhumi is an amazing institution. they hav worked out very well to bring up the underprivileged children of india. i'm sure this institution will take them to great heights. i like the way the syllabus is formed every week and how well it is followed up.. the team spirit is always there.
It is said that life’s finest decisions are taken in a jiffy, likewise today I take pride in myself for having replied to a friend’s mail on Bhumi. My association with Bhumi began in 2008, and I can vouch that my weekends for the past one year could have not got better than this. I joined Bhumi mainly for the cause they are associated with, which is educating under privileged kids. However, I also noticed that Bhumi as a group of young minds has not restricted itself and has extended its services even in the areas of think green, career counselling and many more which will eventually benefit our country’s next generations. Through this review, I would like to express my gratitude to Bhumi for having given me an opportunity to answer Luther’s question “Life’s most urgent question is: what are you doing for others?” and today like me, many volunteers from Bhumi have a reply to this question.
Bhumi! Ha,the word itself gave me a fresh feeling when I first attended the orientation programme. I adore the services they offer to the underprivileged children. Who knows, many of them can turn into slum dog millionares one day or the other. It's our duty to teach them what's life is all about and I think Bhumi is marching forward in the right direction. Not only teaching, the career guidance project has helped a lot of young minds to choose their own path in their life. Bhumi, on the whole is a organisation for which I would like to work for and Bhumi will be a major contributor towards INDIA 2020.
Much has been already said about Bhumi and its activities and how it has positively changed each one of the kids and the volunteers lives. Im not going to say anything new to it..Just that in short "Bhumi Rocks"
Bhumi is a grt organisation its simply due to the multifacet social work it contributing to society especially to unprivileged peoples in our country.....education which lacks in our country and which has always been the problem for our perfect growth & lots of problems like corruption....poverty...etc....we as a individuals definitely raised questions about govt. i quote "what this govt is doing" it may be related to any thing in our society ....but very few have taken the lead to take charge and do something for the cause to change. But here this "Bhumi" an organisation created by individual and the spark has lead to hundreds of intellectual to work in this grt organisation......for a change in the society especially by means of education.....thanks a lot....
Bhumi a platform to return back something to the society with the time and skill you possess. Thats how the youth brigade in Bhumi work, in a way enabling kids with a better future. Have been associated with Bhumi for more than a year. Sure it has been a motivator for both the volunteers and students. With special attention to english and computers it improves the lifeskills to face the society much confidently for the kids.
I joined Bhumi in the month of August 09, sincerely speaking this is the place what I wanted. I teach Computer to the kids of six to 12th class. All volunteers are dedicated to work. Everybody knows what they have to do so the kids. All volunteers are self disciplined. Not only I teach them but I myself learn with them. Just to teach them I learnt a new language in computer which I would not have learnt. I am very proud to be a bhumian.
For ppl with fire.. for those u really really wanna make a difference in the society be it small or big.. Bhumi is the place.. its so open and target-oriented that anything u even barely suggest can be and is implemented and it happens! that Bhumi.. Committed team of charged people aiming for a better India!! its been amazing being with Bhumi and the joy u get outta being a part of the activity is unexplainable! Jai Bhumi!
I have been with Bhumi since inception and what I like most is the commitment of people in working for the social cause.
Bhumi makes a huge headway in Enlightening India. I thank Bhumi for giving me the chance to share my knowledge to the underprivileged students. I m feeling proud to be a member of Bhumi. A Candle loses nothing by lighting an other candle. Bhumi stands for the above proverb. For sure its gonna light millions.
Bhumi is a well structured, disciplined organisation which really practices what it preaches. The sheer enthusiasm of people involved leads to fabulous results & change in lives of countless children.
I have started taking classes in one of the Bhumi centers and i am extremely happy to say i am a part of this organisation. I think its a great initiative to provide good quality education for the poor people.
Am proud to be a volunteer in Bhumi. It does the great job in giving knowledge to young under privileged children’s. Am happy that i am part of this great movement. Its Bhumi, Its mother for all with love & care in giving knowledge..
This year I decided that I wanted to do something meaningful which I would enjoy and which wouldn't be only for me..Heard about Bhumi through Teach India.Choose to join Bhumi after seeing the work they do which reaches out to so many kids.I now work with 8 to 14 year olds teaching them english. Its might be at times a lot of hard work for me and sometimes even frustrating teaching them basic stuff which we as adults take for granted. However the efforts of the kids and their final understanding(maybe after a lot of attempts)makes it worthwhile and fulfilling. Most of the kids are truly dedicated and seem to have a lot of fun and get very animated while learning. And what do I get? The difference that I make to their future is my joy.
Bhumi is a potent mix of responsibility and fun. The kind of passion and commitment the volunteers possess is not only commendable but also infectious. The organisation certainly deserves all the accolades and praises it receives.
I have been at Bhumi once and it has been a very good experience. I bonded with them in April and have been associated with the Kanini initiative. I could not be regular because of work issues. Though i look forward to contribute as much possible for all the endeavours in the future. Its fun to work at Bhumi, to be with the kids. They are very receptive and sharing is always two-way. We, at Bhumi, look to create lot more opportunities for many more kids through our initiatives :)
I always had an urge in me to do something for the society.Something with which I could Make A Difference. Initially i had a misconception if i could actually do something. I came to know about Bhumi through the net and for this very reason i am so thankful to the entire world which got me to bhumi. Its a complete different world here in. I am one among many who teach young kids the basics of english. Such kids who are otherwise deprived of even the basics which may in turn be cause of lack of money or unavailability of proper educational systems at an affordable rate. Here we work out of will and not out of compulsion which itself is a great advantage for the work being covered up. And the experience there is mind blowing. The simple smile of the kids who look as if they have been deprived terribly by the Mother nature. At the end of the session when the children run up to me and say those simple sentences which they have learnt during the day with all the pride... that glow on their otherwise dull faces gives me the joy and that joy could be something i consider no less than heaven. And for all this i thank BHUMI from my heart. It has given me the opportunity to give back to this world what i have learnt here.
I joined Bhumi about an year ago and my life has changed a lot since then.I teach English in one of the Orphanages. I'm learning a lot from the kids as well as from my fellow team every day and feel very happy to be part of this Vibrant group.I'm completely amazed with the way each and every project is executed by my friends. The results are amazing.Recently, one of the new volunteer had come to our center and that was his first day. Before the classes started, he was interacting with the kids from my group in English as he is not a native Tamil speaker. My kids were able to answer all his questions fluently. He was genuinely surprised when told these kids didn't know all these words three months ago.I was "THE PROUD TEACHER" that day and I thank Bhumi for giving me many such wonderful moments. I'm a proud Bhumian and can't compare the happiness I get whenever I wear Bhumi T-Shirt and tell the outside world "I'm part of Bhumi".
It has been a truly wonderful experience for me with Bhumi. I've been able to understand and appreciate the social responsibility that we carry as youth of this country. I am thankful to Bhumi for providing me an opportunity to be part of their team. I was involved in teaching English to the kids at P.V Rao in R.A Puram. While we have faced several challenges/issues, what stands out is the commitment shown by our core members in finding ways to overcome them. Proud to be a Bhumian. Jai Hind
I'm really gifted to be a part of Bhumi and to help kids in learning. Spending two hours a week is wortha bringing a change for tomorrow!
everyweek i look forward to spending time with the kids.. it gives me immense plesure doing something for a good cause..
my experience was very good and interesting i had a very good exposure and i like helping people a lot and that satisfies my mind
serving in bhumi gives me a lot of pleasure.a weekly visit to this place makes me feel awesome. a weekly visit gives immense satisfaction that i hav given something to the society
Walking into a coffee shop to meet my school friends after a whole year of college i was elated to share with them my experiences at college, all the wild things i had done, all the classes i had bunked, all the places i had been..little did i know that my story would be nothing compared to what they had to tell me. Sitting there with a cup of coffee, i first heard about MAD-"Make a difference", A volunteer organsiation of enthusiastic youth who teach children English.Looking at their faces while they animatedly told me about the kids they were teachin and what a blessing its been in thier lives, i decided i wanted to 'Make a Difference'too!!So i returned to chennai and got in touch with Bhumi to enroll myself wid the 'MAD' programme.I learnt that Bhumi had a variety of programmes i could involve myself in, right from caring for the environment to teaching to career guidance. The first thing i noticed about the organisation was the level of commitment, the devotion, the dedication and the enthusiasm bubbling in each and every one of the volunteers.Ever since i have joined MAD there hasn't been a day that i have regretted it.. in fact i find myself looking forward to the weekends not because of parties or waking up late but rather cause i get to see the kids, interact with them and help bring a smile to their faces. Its been a wonderful experience right from day 1... and i think i speak for all the volunteers when i say that we've learnt much more than any textbook could have ever taught us during our interactive sessions at the various homes that we teach at. I'm immensely proud and ever so grateful for having gotten an opportunity to be a part of the Bhumi Family and i sincerely hope that more people join us to help us "make a Difference".
Bhumi is one of the most memorable moments in my life.I have always wanted to do something different apart from work.I was looking for a change that was more fulfilling. Then Bhumi happened.I was so impressed to see the network of ppl at work. The first thing I thought was where was I all these days.Bhumi has taught me some of the most valuable lessons in life.I am a part of the MAD programme at Bhumi.I teach a whole lot of enthused little kids.I look forward to be with them every weekend.Sometimes I feel I learn more from them than they do.They make me realise that there is so much more to life and the petty things i get worked up for is nothing at all.The best feeling in life is when you enjoy what you do and I feel that every time i am with these kids.KUDOS to Bhumi to make it all happen.
Bhumi ! After being with bhumi- MAD for more than a year, I feel that Bhumi has been changing everybodies life through its activities..to the children it gives fun filled education, to the volunteers it gives a sense of satisfaction and pride when we see the children speak english. It is thus making a difference to everybody. To me, Bhumi means happinesss, relaxation and fun !its is a path which helps me to fulfill my social resp.teaching a bunch of naughty children cud be the most hardest task on earth, but bhumi has made it easy to us through their innovative methodologies and the activity based sylabi. Bhumi is bringing this change in the minds of the people and it is sure to rok in the coming years. ThAnK yOu BHUMI. !
I m part of bhumi for past one month..i had a different experience in bhumi...i have a student pavan who s super brainy for his age.. very naughty I had a tough time contolling him.. he used to bully other students... finally if he knows that he is behind... suddenly finishes his work very fast..one thing wanted specify about bhumi is they do it everything with a perfection All activities are done in a planned way. happy to be a part of it.
Bhumi gives youngsters the opportunity to really make a difference in children's lives. Personally i have found the experience very rewarding both from a personality development standpoint as well as the satisfaction that one gets from teaching children. The content is well structured which makes things that much easier for the volunteers to work with. The credit system ensures that volunteers are regular and provides an air of professionalism. Sure, Bhumi also would have its teething issues, but these are relatively few in number considering that it is just the 3rd year since inception. Overall, Bhumi has achieved a lot in a relatively short span of time and we look forward to other non profit organisation following in its footsteps.
I am proud to be a part of BHUMI and it as been a fun fulled experience and The org aims in Educating children as one amongst its primary acts and I am part of such a work.As Bhumians we are putting in our sincere efforts to change today for a better tomorrow.
i've had an amazing time working with bhumi.. the kids are amazing and the teaching methodology is very structured..bhumi is a brilliant non profit organisation!
“It has been a nice experience working with Bhumi, especially in Kanini(One of the Project in Bhumi). I have been taking classes for the past one year in P V Rao school, its an Orphange cum school with nearly hundred students, The students in PV Rao are really creative and adaptable, even a small introduction session in MS Paint have enabled them to design creative images, this really invoked our interest to teach them more concepts other than what was planned in our syllabus. This is my first time working as a volunteer for a NGO, where I have seen lot of self motivated young professionals and students working together to eradicate ignorance from our future generation. I am very happy to be a part of such a mission, which aimed to bring bright future for the helpless children.
The volunteers in Bhumi are very dedicated and passionate about what they are doing. It is fun to work with a group which really believes in what they do.
Bhumi, an NGO where there is so much to teach and learn. I joined Bhumi months back as a volunteer teaching kids English and I realised that this was the best i have done till now. Be it planting a tree or teaching a kid, Bhumi tries to involve as many people as possible. When i was kid, i never liked to study but if i was taught the "Bhumi" way, i am sure i would have done better. Bhumi makes learning easy, they bring a balance between study and play. There is a lot of attention given to every individual child in Bhumi. They regulary assess the kids and give updates. Bhumi is a great NGO that is trying to make this society a flawless one and a better place to live in... I rate Bhumi really high and as Bhumians we have a long way to go.
I've been a proud member of bhumi from the past few months and i'm a part of Career Councelling group. As of now i've been getting to know about how members of CC carry out their work and other responsibilities required of them. I wanted to do something towards leading a purposeful life and thats when i decided i should join an NGO and came across bhumi's community at facebook. Initially i felt sort of uneasy about joining this group which was only then coming to the spotlight through its activities but after getting acquainted with its members i felt i was on the right path.I am using the term right path as i was able to come across certain people who were just like any other ordinary humanbeing with an extraordinary desire to bring about a change rather than waiting for the change to happen. These people, I felt had definite views, definite ideas , definite targets to be achieved all aimed at helping those kids out there who are not so gifted as us. Each and every member i come across inspires me in some way or the other and that always makes me realize my purpose of being in Bhumi. I am glad i am a part of Bhumi and looking forward to play my part in the days to come...
I have been associated with BHUMI since August'2009. I am a part of Make a Difference (MAD) programme, which involves teaching under privilege children to speak, read and write English.I visit a orphanage every week on saturday and spend 2 hours with the kids. I feel great to be associated with this noble cause. Those two hours of class, lifts my spirits.
Bhumi an NGO started by my close friends, their dream, their commitment towards the society.my friend used to talk about this a lot n all his planning .Initially i thought it would be difficult to execute but my friend proved it not to be so.Initailly wen they started i said to them i was not in a position to join as i was suffering from other things, but i promised them later or soon i will join it.And at present i am in it.I have joined in one of it's project called KANNINI where the motive is to to teach all students basics of computer. The students are from Govt schools n orphanages who cannot afford to even dream abt a computer. These classes goes on Saturdays n Sundays free time of our's and goes on regularly. At present we have 5 volunteer's in our centre allocated and about 25 students at different levels. We have a special batch students from 11th n 12 th grade who wanted to learn C Programming language in specific n as requested we have arranged one, which goes on in parallel with the regular classes.
I'm a 4 month old volunteer at Bhumi ,I teach English every Friday , at one of our centers . The best part about being with Bhumi is the professionalism they maintain , everything is taken care of so perfectly . If under unavoidable circumstances our volunteers are not able to make it , then we can always be sure we have a substitute , Id like to narrate one particular story about a girl called Karuthamma . When I went for my first class , Karuthamma was in my class, she was a bit of concern for all of us volunteers , always lost in her own dream world , we had a tough time asking her to listen , she would sometimes walk out of the class, laugh for no reason , and the other kids would also tease her . But that was four months ago , I was patient with her , I called her into group discussions , made the kids work with chart paper after every session , asked them to work in pairs , and 2 weeks ago when we were in class, she kept asking me to ask her questions , what was surprising was that all her answers were perfect and even more surprisingly as soon as I reached the place she ran to me and quoted something from the previous class.. It was an amazing transition . Im also very proud to say , Ive trained my kids to use the golden words " PLEASE ,THANKYOU , SORRY " and they actually practice . Bhumi has become my way of life now , I have so much fun thinking up for the lesson ahead . Just once I had to miss class because of an exam in college , that whole week I felt empty . Besides our visits to the center , are a way of bringing the outside world to these children. I'm so happy and contented that I serve as medium for exposure for these unprivileged kids .... After all they deserve much much more
Computers, English, Mathematics, counseling, songs, activities, games, meetings and what not! It’s really worthy being a teacher. These are the some of the activities that I do over the weekends. Though being Software professional, my instinct has always been focused on to help the less privileged. I realized that “Education is the tool that has the power of creating miracles with in a short period of time”. It was not too late when I joined the NGO Bhumi. With high motivation I was expecting to start off as soon as possible and as expected, with in a week of joining Bhumi launched its Computer teaching program at Thirumullaivoyil, Chennai and joined hands with Nightingale Social trust (NEST) and I was given the opportunity to handle classes there. We started operating in a community center model. It’s still green in my memory when we started our day1 class with 13 students and 1 computer. Within a month’s time we had 30+ students and one more computer. What was more interesting, motivational and special was, most of the students have to travel more than 4 KM in cycle or bus or by walk to reach our center. It was their efforts and interest towards learning made us to teach on Saturday and Sunday regularly with almost no breaks for months together. It was quite difficult during the early stages but adapting to it was quite comfortable as we had new volunteers joining and we were a strong team!! From then I started realizing how much responsibility, focus and dedication has to be invested in order to give a good listening and understanding experience. Every hard work yields a fruit of its own taste and flavor. Today, Student welcome all our volunteers with smile and they come and learn happily, this motivates and creates an impact and also gives me complete satisfaction at the end of the day. Thanks to Bhumi and its Kannini Program!!
Ever since I got a job I wanted to use some portion of my first salary to do something good. In search for it I found out Bhumi. Unlike other NGO's I found Bhumi to be much reliable and less prone to corruption. Once I spent my time for Bhumi I started loving it. It was a beautiful experience. It gave me such a happiness as I never felt before. When I go to teach, there is a custom, where the one of the students would bring me a glass of water. Once when a kid brought me water I thanked her and she felt so happy (I could see the twinkle in her eyes), probably that was the first time someone thanked her. I never had a memorable childhood. But when I spent time with the kids, not only are the kids benefiting from it, but I also have started to re-live my childhood :)
Bhumi is a stupendous organization that not only brings joy to the children also there is equal joy that is nourishing with all volunteers of Bhumi.Childrens come forward with a great compassion towards Bhumi and they blossom just like the son growing up on the mother's lap.It molds the children with the right attitude, ensuring a bright future for them.If Bhumi gets greater recognition, it can spread its wing all over and bring out childrens with flying colors.Lets join hands for such a noble service and take pride in it.Proud to be a BHUMian.Jai Hind!
Bhumi is an organization run by the spirit of youngsters. Education improves the standard of life & I can see the change Bhumi is trying to bring through education which I believe will make a change in the generation to come. Their 'Thing Green' project brings in a sense of the environmentalist within us. Engaging increasing number of volunteers into the organization needs focus. Environmental initiatives can be increased.
I volunteered myself in teaching the students of age 10 to 15 years which includes subjects like Maths, Science and English. BHUMI is a developing with great energies of present youth for the bright future of tomorrows youth and world. Its the energetic group of youth dedicated themselves in servicing for the needy. Being volunteered my self for teaching the students, I experienced the happiness in bottom of my heart when my teaching reached the students who are not provided with elementary education. This happiness kept me continuing again and again. The members are active and well planned in executing the each and every projects, more than projects we take it as our duties and responsibilities in doing the work. I am really happy to be part of this great organization. My support will always be there for BHUMI which is working for the welfare of needy and also for the society which needs changes.
my experience with bhumi is something i would cherish forever in my life..!!..i came to know about bhumi through posters that were put up in my college..i then called up the organisation and later attended an orientation after which i was absorbed keeping in mind the center where i wanted to teach..and after that there was no looking back..i look forward to every sunday when i get to meet the kids..the kids there are also very enthusiastic and teaching them is altogether a nice experience, stress buster and also makes me feel happy!...i have been involved with the MAD team and teach english to the children by adopting various interactive training methods!!!i love it every sunday!!thanks to bhumi for giving me such a good experince!
Bhumi is one of the best things i have experienced in life.As a part of Make a Difference initiative of Bhumi, every week I volunteer at the Bala Mandir school to teach English to underprivileged kids. The whole method of teaching is by means of games and fun.I totally fell in love with my batch of kids.Their enthusiasm is overwhelming. They shower their love and respect on me in return for the time I spend with them.
This group is one of a kind, evoking a social consciousness from youth. Boasting of a robust, under 30 years, bunch of young people, Bhumi, strives to educate poor children in communication english, interactive sciences, as well as computers. For someone like me, Bhumi serves as a platform to contribute my bit to my society. It is a humbling experience, the whole being part of this group. Bhumi, has a vibrant and enthusiastic task force always keen on improvement, be it the teaching methodologies, curriculum, or just ways to have fun. Over the past year, Bhumi has grown tremendously and has brought several like-minded people together, and i am proud to be associated with them. If nothing else, it is inspiring to see so many people with such oneness in thought and a focus to accomplish, that i truly believe, change is possible.
“Charity begins at home, but should not end there”this was what that made me join Bhumi!for me it was another ngo but the dedication and sincerity shown by my fellow bhumians inspires me!!every week i prepare for my classes now and unlike before i feel very positive and optimistic..the thought that u can make a difference too is enough to get you through any difficult situation!! “If you haven't any charity in your heart, you have the worst kind of heart trouble.” i strongly believe YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE AND THOSE DIFFERENCES ARE MIRACLES FOR MANY!!SO WE MAKE MIRACLES HAPPEN IN BHUMI!CHEERS FOR OUR BHUMI!!
Apart from the basic human needs such as food, shelter and clothing, the most important thing is Education. BHUMI is committed to providing education to the needy children. The power of youth in building a society is apparent in BHUMI's work. Long Live BHUMI!
Bhumi is a wonderful world to spend your weekends valuable. Bhumi help us to make a bond relationship between the kids who are underprivileged and whose talents are hidden and help them to get exposed to the world.
“Make A Difference - This is how I got to know about Bhumi. At beginning, I thought that the classes would be like any other normal class which will be conducted during the week ends. But in reality, the classes were really amazing. It taught me many things such as patience. I also got many new friends over here. It was such a fun time with those kids. Their huge set typical question over the syllabus that I handled and their mischiefs with the computers were amazing. I am awaiting the next session of classes to commence...”
i have been involved in this org for more than 3 months. An very disciplined organization which can think about people all the time.I was amazed on seeing the volunteers who were so dedicated simple and friendly.Even the founder of bhumi is so simple and too friendly.we are like an family.now speaking about the students , they are very interested to interact with us.they welcome us with a josh. And can see a smiling face when we arrive. These experience cant be expressed in words can only be felt in person.
Teaching 2 hours a week makes me feel happy and gives me a feeling i have done something ,atleast a small bit to Make a Difference in the society. Im proud to be a BHUMIAN!!!
I wanted to do something for the environment and fortunately one fine day I got in touch with bhumi through Vivek. I am with the think green team, helping them in developing a park @ kotturpuram(PWD). We protect the plants and ensure that they don't get damaged. I would surely like to say that at the end of the day the satisfaction that one gets in giving back something to the nature is amazing. reg, Vaibhav
I have had a great experience volunteering for this organization. I have been teaching computer and basic english language skills to kids of the age group 10-14 for about a year and believe have helped them as well as myself tremendously through this NGO.
I am proud to say that i am a Bhumian. I always believed that "Be the change u want to see..." Like many people i wanted to change India into a better country but i had no idea how to do it till i came across Bhumi where people "stopped talking and started doing". I teach kids about computers during my weekends at Roshini Home which is a great experience. Seeing their smiles when the kids actually understand a concept makes my weekends worthwhile.
I am Arunkumar Govindarajan, Bhumian belongs to center running at Thamaraipakkam village & working in an MNC(IT). I will say My Happiest moments of my life were the moments after i joined Bhumi. If Bhumi is not there, no way i get a chance to play a minor part in building a brighter india. It is medium through which i can transfer the knowledge to the kids. When we teach a new thing, once the kid started to understand it, we can see a smile in those faces, which gives satisfaction of what we do. I would like to share few moments that i enjoyed & learned from kids. In the first day, I started to teach basics of computers. Since that was the first time I am handling for kids I don’t know what they can understand and what they can’t. Class continued for 10 mins, All kids are looking like watching a horror movie. Janakiraman, styding 4th STD in Magaral GOVT School (Tamil Medium) was one among the 17 kids in that particular batch. He stopped me. This is what he said “Sir I don’t know what you are talking about, can you please repeat it”. I proud of his boldness and learned the thing that ‘Before start speaking we have to know with whom we are speaking’. Another learning experience. Usually I ask questions before starting classes. Vinodhini, styding 6th STD in the same school. She didn’t answered me not even single time, even I advised and scolded at last. After that I stopped asking her questions. At last I conducted a test. The wondering thing was… she got the first mark in that batch. What I learned was ‘Don’t under estimate a person’. I personally thank Karthika, Our center head who introduced ‘Bhumi’ to me and I thank all Bhumian’s to their dedicated work.
That was a pleasant dusk, me and my brother were discussing about the education system and its deliverance condition in India. Suddenly I announced that when I would have money, I would open a school for poor infants. Then he said that for doing anything in education system I don't have to wait, I can start right now by joining any NGO. Then I searched and found a valuable name BHUMI CHENNAI, its like dream come true. Now I am actively participating in it and really tell you that it seem like I have started the journey of my dream.
I was introduced to Bhumi through a friend. I am very passionate about teaching, and teaching underprivileged children sounded even better. My first encounter with the Bhumi team was at Asha Nivas when i had gone there for the orientation session. At the orientation session i found the atmosphere to be very friendly and welcoming. We as first time volunteers felt completely at home. We were given an introduction to the various functional facets of Bhumi. We were then assigned to the various centres where we would be teaching. I was assigned to Bala Mandir, and my first class there was as an observer. I soon found out that teaching a group of young, inquisitive and intelligent minds can be very challenging. I started liking my new job right from the first minute. Looking at life from the perspective of an underprivileged child was something totally different and it changed my outlook on life. Bhumi has given me the opportunity to do something that i ve always wanted to do for my less fortunate fellow beings. Wishing Bhumi all the success for its future endeavours :).
I was introduced to Bhumi by a college senior of mine primarily to help with their digital artwork (logos, posters and the like). At first, I thought this was one of THOSE NGOs where funds are misappropriated (it is the case in most NGOs in India today). I was wrong. In Bhumi, they are really transparent about funds. They even have a google spreadsheet where each and every paise donated or spent is accounted for then and there. I was happy to see this. Work wise, its been fun working with the design team (though I haven't contributed much). My head in the design team is wonderful and I've cherished working here. As I'm writing this, we volunteers at Bhumi are busy making preparations for "Siragugal", an inter-orphanage cultural meet which is less than a month away and is aimed at helping underprivileged children grow culturally and socially. I'm really glad to have found such an organization (with which I've had only a brief association albeit) and I will always love associate myself with Bhumi in future and chip in with whatever I can.
It just 2 months ago i joined bhumi,i am waiting for the sundays to come soon it just gives me immense happiness which i am not getting in any other part of my work...............i LOVE to be a bhumian.....i am just teaching them computer science under kanini program but those students are teaching me WHAT IS LIFE??.......this experience i am getting here makes me more matured and understandable towards people.........its a duty of every educated indian to join bhumi ........jai hind !!!
On every weekend, I use to spend some 2-3 hours with little budding flowers who are interested in knowing something and unknowingly trying to excell in their life. when all my co-volunters trys to teach computer to them, I use to play with them. After a weekful of tension, playing with them gives me alot of energy to lead my next week. Funny questions, meaningless answer, reasonless reasoning, small small fighting between them are most enjoyable in that two hours. BHUMI is a growing child and i am proud to be one of the mother to her who is holding her hand while she is learning to walk.
Every week I meet a bunch of superstars . I go to teach them English, but in the last one and half year i have ended up learning about life ,about caring, the joy of giving and sharing. Personally Bhumi has been an life changing experience and a lot of what i am today is a result of my association with Bhumi .
My encounter with Bhumi changed my life forever. It made me a more responsible person and I started to realise the importance of selfless service for the society and mankind. It gave me an opportunity to serve the under previlied students who had very limited access to modern education. I always felt proud to be part of Bhumi because it was creating a social revolution quitely and without much publicity and funfare. It has given a platform for a lot of students to explore as well express their talents to the outside world. Thanks to Bhumi for providing a platform for me to serve the society.
I am part of bhumi which is offering to bright future for the students who are all wiiling to be bright.
I have always wanted to share the knowledge that i have on computers with others. I answer many questions in forums, yahoo answers etc. But when i came to know about Bhumi, i was thrilled and happy to be a part of it. Here i could directly interact with small children who were eager to learn and know about computers. Not only computers, we also help out with the global language English, give awareness about eco-friendly way of living, help them in choosing a right career. Am sure these kids will have a real bright future with the help provided by Bhumi and I feel proud to be a Bhumian :)
Bhumi is well formatted and processed to provide and facilitate education and awareness for the poor and needs. Initially didn't realize the importance of the time being with Bhumi but on the course of time, response from the students and people driving me to a new world. Thanks to Bhumi.
"Be the change you want to see in the world." -Gandhi's principle is the motto of Bhumi's volunteers. I really feel very happy to be a part of this enthusiastic youth organization since it started. Tiredness never crept in while working for Bhumi because of the highly motivated volunteers and eagerly learning students. Bhumi is the second home during weekends for most of the volunteers like me. My heart is fully loaded with the smiles of innocent faces after each class. I simply love Bhumi and am proud be a part of it.
My experience with Bhumi is and has always been an adventure of sorts. In the process of learning how to teach, I discovered that we also teach in order to learn.Bhumi isn't just about teaching however. That's the beauty of it. Think green- for those with a green thumb, MAD- for the teachers with a difference, Little Einsteins and career counselling for the budding professionals. Bhumi, I realized, not only helps children we teach , but also the children who teach; bringing out, and cultivating talent in both alike and this is what is truly unique. As cliche'd as it may sound, Bhumi has helped me to grow; to empathize, to look at the world in a different perspective. At the end of the day, isn't that what life is all about- to live, learn and grow.
Doing great work with educating children. Very friendly volunteers, willing to help out each other and the students enjoy the classes.

Having realized that money alone cannot change the inequalities in the society, I was looking out for ways which would help the not-so-privileged to solve their problems permanently by themselves. "Education" was one of the answers I found. Having got helped by many good people when I was not so fortunate, especially for my education, I wanted to contribute to the society by educating others who are not so privileged. The result - I ended up in Bhumi as a teaching volunteer. There are a lot of positive things about Bhumi. A group of young, dynamic and determined individuals making a difference! Anybody can easily take good ideas across because nobody's boss here. And there are no words to describe the dedication and commitment shown by Bhumians. Not only they do everything well, they also do it with a professional touch. Be it the crisp meetings or the clean decisions or the seriousness in implementation. I'm happy that I've got a chance through Bhumi to bring about positive changes in the lives of some children. And there is nothing splendid like watching them improve over time due to your efforts! It has been only 4 months since I joined Bhumi and I've already started experiencing it. Bhumi is really a life changer not only for those kids, but for me as well! Just being a part of Bhumi, is giving me huge energy and immense motivation.
A planned , professional and consistent non -profit organization. As the volunteers are expertise in different spectrum, it gives a common platform to share the knowledge base and tune our actions in service of the children. A place where everyone learns - a student, teacher, organiser and observer. it feels great being with Bhumi
The kind of work that BHUMI does is amazing!Every single guy i have seen here wants to give back to the society what he has taken from it!And there is no better way than serving the under priveleged! There is only one way we are headed towards!A better future for the kids!A better INDIA!!
I joined Bhumi recently and stunned with the way the team works. Its heartening to see the immense contributions of each member to the social cause beside their busy schedule. Every activity of the team is well planned, discussed, communicated and executed properly. I am so happy to be a part of this wonderful organization which works with great selflessness.
I had really good time working with BHUMI. The way the entire program has been structured is brilliant, and it makes you feel that you are doing something back to the society.
I am one of the volunteer in Bhumi, and I tell you, I am the person who lost many things in my life with the age of 27 as like my father, my big home etc. And with a dream to start a orphanage. But after joining this NGO, the work i do like teaching a children and meeting the kids to discuss on their education and career, The amount of satisfaction i get tells me that i lost nothing. At least if i can change one kid in my life time, I made success to Kid, Society, Bhumi and myself (Please note down the order as well)
i have been in bhumi for the past 1 year... and it has teached me a lot of things.... the joy seen in the children's face is something worth to live for... seeing the children helped me bring out a purpose in my life.....
everytime i am a part of BHUMI the time spent is full of fun and innovative ideas its an entirely new learning experience.
i wish i could add etra stars....!! experience in bhumi is definitely worth a lifetime..seein those happy faces and the childrens determination to reach the top is totally amazing. i m glad i joined bhumi... bhumi wil reach great heights...!!
The first thing which strikes to me they need volunteers under the age group of 30. This is really an energetic group. I have found people of Bhumi more positive. As of now I know people in Bhumi much more than the organization Bhumi at the whole. And I am inspired by those individuals. They are very consistent in their responsibilities. Regards Jagan jaganmohan.vangapelly@gmail.com
It was great working with Bhumi..made me realise how easily we can help in the upliftment of the downtroddens by just making a simple effort..all we need is the desire to work towards the betterment of the society and a guiding organisation like bhumi..
Bhumi has a simple down to earth approach to help the orphans and needy - Just extend an helping hand. There has been no compulsion to perform. The driving force has been the fire within and the example set by fellow Bhumians. Yet there is thorough professional outlook. I am into the Career counseling team where i have been lucky to know the reality in India.
i teally njoyed wrkin with this organization. some students were very Affectionate to me. there desire to learn more is what that draws me to them.
Change tomorrow..."
i had great time with the 9th grade children in government high school thousand lights. They were very Affectionate to me. there desire to learn more is what that draws me to them.
Bhumi is a thoughtful and inspiring cause. It works towards educating the under-privileged in some parts of South-India. Even in the 21st century many children in India do not have the minimum necessities for them to get the basic education. Bhumi's role in making this dream a realization. Thanks to Bhumi and keep the good work going :)
I am teaching computers to kids every week end. They are really enthusiastic to learn. I am getting a sense of satisfaction for teaching them.It is really useful for these kids who may not get opportunity to learn computers otherwise.I am very happy and proud to be with Bhumi.
It has been a great experience teaching kids to learn computers. The questions that these kids ask, sometimes amazes me. The volunteers are also a dedicated lot.
I have seen people working in this organization and was also involved with one of my friend who was a volunteer at this organization. These people helpo the kids a lot.
What if you were given a chance to go back ages in your life and learn all those you loved and rewrite your career again? I feel the same when teaching the orphans and kids so they could get all guidance that we yearned to get. Through Bhumi , I teach Mani, Balaji, Sankaran, Rama, Hari, Viji, Thomas, Suresh all part of an orphanage under Indian council for Child Welfare (ICCW). Bhumi provides activity based education in English and creating a platform for building their career. This pleasure in giving back was possible only through Bhumi. “He who wished to secure the good of others, has already secured his own.” - Confucius Bhumians have secured it, so do I.
Bhumi - the mere name will rejuvenate the kindle the enthusiasm in me, its not only because of Bhumi's work, but because of the people in it. The first thing you will notice in here is the kindness and friendly nature of the members. Each volunteer's voice is being heard and supported, i am sure as a volunteer my thought will be given importance and discussed. I have been with bhumi from the time its been initiated, from that time till now its growth in phenomenal, mainly due to its strong volunteers. I am happy to be a part of this active and vigor youth organization.
Extend a hand, there’s always someone in need of yours. And that is exactly what Bhumi has done. Their hands extend not for a momentary aid, but for a perpetual gift...the gift of education, something that can make a future when there is none. We all have the desire to serve but only a few turn that desire into reality. And kudos to Bhumi for having made that desire a dream, and that dream a reality. Today, i see that smiles are no longer strangers on the faces of the children who have felt the warmth of Bhumi’s hands. Bhumi has changed my life for the better. I finally got my chance to write that love letter to those kids' lives!
I have been with Bhumi for about an year.. Bhumi is the best example for the sentence "today's youth are tomorrow's pillar of strength for the nation".. Rahul Gandhi and may others who want youngsters to play an important role in the betterment of the Indian society, will have every reason to be proud of us.. Personally, working with Bhumi, teaching English to bright, enthusiastic kids has given me, in one word, SATISFACTION.. That means everything-Joy, happiness, enjoyment and what not !! It is also a learning process for me.. Bhumi has brought together people from all walks of life.. The values we learn and teach are plenty.. team work, sharing of ideas, initiative, honesty, nobility, duty, unity, integrity, dedication, yielding, ambition, loyalty and of course VICTORY- not only for us but for the nation..Our aim is to bridge the gap in this society through education and we are confident that we will succeed.. last but not least.. I AM A PROUD BHUMIAN..
My friends are there in the Bhumi association and I've heard alot about this mission.. They do a great job and I'm really happy to see works like this done by such organizations.. And that it is non-profit.. Running a non-profit organization is really great.. Hats off!
Bhumi teaches maths & science to 7th & 8th grade students. Teaching is based on live experiments, presentations & animations. Once, I was handling a class on Integers. I explained the concepts (through presentations)with some real life examples. Towards the end of the class, to summarise, I was asking questions about intergers' applications. To my surprise, One student gave sensex indices as an example. I never gave this example when i was handling the class. I appreciated the student and was extremely happy that I could kindle his thoughts. Infact I learnt from this student to teach for my subsequent classes. In short, I learn to teach in Bhumi.
As a Teach India volunteer, I thought, teaching under-privileged children was a step towards fighting to make this country better(through education). But as a Bhumi volunteer, I discovered numerous other ways to do so. Education, undebatably, remains the first step towards making a better India. But here in Bhumi,we have other issues of concerns too, like environment, computer knowledge, community development. And Bhumi is constantly working towards these and the success stories will be heard through every proud Bhumian. Bhumi, as a family, has two wings. One is the volunteers and the other is the receiving end like the children. Each and every volunteer in Bhumi has joined, bearing in mind specific ideas, big or small. No heirachy appears among the volunteers and every volunteer gets to contribute even in the most trivial of matters. The Bhumi family has created such a transparent environment for everyone, that it is pure joy to work with them. Every single volunteer, be it anyone, is very down to earth, despite the pride we possess as Bhumians. I have seldom seen any network with zero politics. Bhumi is it! Joining Bhumi was the most clear decision I have taken. The other wing, is the main one. Our very own children and our environment. They are the VIPs of Bhumi. All our hardwork goes into them and they have never failed to recognize that. The knowledge we received during our childhood is polished and being transfered to them with hopes that they become more than what we are today. And any weekend, if you see people toiling under the hot sun,in the kotturpuram park, take a little time and say Hi BHUMIAN to them.I cant promise about India, but Chennai seems a better place with BHUMI! Heres to all the BHUMIANS who have made BHUMI possible.CHEERS!!!!
I was a volunteer and I taught English more focused on spoken English for gals kids in an Govt gals school at purasavakkam on every Sunday. We were group of 10-12 volunteer who taught ard 50 kids at that school. Each volunteer had small group of kids so that we could help them better and we adopted many interactive, fun and easy learning methods which would help first generation English learners. I had amazing time teaching & learning from kids. BHUMI has been doing other projects addressing issues on climatic change, community development, teaching computers etc.. . On the whole BHUMI ROCKS and iam proud to be a Bhumian. :)
Bhumi is perhaps the best answer for Obama's "Yes We Can". It needs to be noted that this non profit organisation was started by a group of very determined young people way before we even got to know about the man. Though I have not been the most active member of this organisation, I am well aware that every child Bhumi helps comes with a story, a dream and hope that it would be realised. And Bhumi works towards it by providing what is considered the most elementary need: Education. At Bhumi, every volunteer is 100% there, provides the most down to earth care and makes the world of books and ink fun for the children. Hats off to you guys!
HI everyone, This is Rishikesh.R.. PROUD TO BE A BHUMIAN!!!! JAI HIND!!!!
through teach india campaign when i first met bhumi, i was amazed with the list of projects done by bhumi. it was just an normal interaction with two volunteers. But the Bhumi induction program and the subsequent induction program for MAD(make a difference) was really good. It had lot of team games, presentation, experience sharing and most important it was a fully energised environment. I teach the kids of Anbu karangal home in trivanmayur, chennai every weekend. it is great experience to work with bhumi associates
First of All I feel great to be a part of Bhumi, & when I joined the Kanini I don‟t know what I have to do... & had many Qns like how I‟m gonna manage d studentz?? & so on... but all the volenteerz in my center helped me 2 feel comfortable & to manage d classe!!! & frankly speaking I learned MSWord only by taking classes in BM. It was good to train as well as getting trained @ d same time ... & Itz always good if some1 can get use of our knowledge & that 2 if this can help d career of student dat would be really great!!! Earlier I was really worried dat I‟m wasting all my week-end & now my worries are no more... And I‟m happy dat I got new friend thru Bhumi & I wish diz should cont...
I am a Health professional. I am giving financial and technical assistance to the organization. I teach the children about leading a healthy and hygienic lifestyle.
It was after my 12th when I was wasting time doing nothing useful, my friend told me about this organisation.Teaching underprivileged kids English was great as i felt I was making at least a small change in their lives.Even if i have not helped them much, I have learnt a lot the past year teaching them. This is all thanks to Bhumi.
bhumi has been a great experience! every sunday i teach a bunch of energetic n enthusiastic students spoken english. at the end of every class i attain n sense of satisfaction n achievement that m able to do something small fr my country. i thank bhumi for such a great opportunity!
This is Raakesh T an Information security Professional; I have been with Bhumi for 1+ year taking care of the installation, troubleshooting of hardware and software's for computers of the project Kanini. Bhumi procured about 120 + systems from an MNC which are gradually inducted to Kanini. This academic year, i too joined the league of teaching members of Kanini. Doesn’t our society lack Visionaries and Mentors was the question in me and this pulled me into the journey of these lovely kids who are in par in intelligence to any other kid in our country, But they just lack the opportunity to expand their vista of knowledge for their life and career. Bhumian’s have significantly introduced some unexplored world to these kids to fill in those fissures and I am happy to be part of them. These days Education have become a serious business and this have widen the reach for the kids of this calibre. So Bhumi have been with various projects to shape their future. Projects like Kanini, Career Counselling, and MAD are some of them. The whole world is really concerned about the climate and many nation have even failed on talks on these issues and Bhumi doesn’t believe in board room talks on environment rather we toil ourselves planting trees under the shade of “Think Green” Project. Though I toiled myself only for 2 months, I am happy for the reason the tree is growing. Though our effort is a drop in an ocean, we believe the wave generated by the impact drop might widen things to the unreachable.
The Bhumi experience has been very fulfilling and rewarding thus far. The organisation is honest and focussed, and is likely to change the world for the better.
This organisation started by the youth of Chennai, has lived up to the expectation of a lot of children adopting more than 6 schools and helping them out. When I went to teach the children English, the enthusiasm shown by the students as well as the volunteers was incredible. I appreciate the hard work being put in, for the development of the children.
Being a Bhumian, we're a part of the change we wish to see in the country. Teaching english to school students and making them feel as special their urban counterpart is a great feeling in itself. We at bhumi educate people, plant trees and work for the environment with a positive approach.
Well,i started as a voluteer for bhumi 3months back n i really enjoyed the entire process of teaching the kids. We the present generation has the guts n desire to make the requisite change for ourself and those around us. We follow the policy of Shut Up and Work. Bhumi is an organisation which has help us to channalise our desired rnergy in a definite directon an hope it goes on strength to strength.
BHUMI... normal people meeting for a great causes... the awakening of the GEN neXt in chennai... bhumi has played a major role... i was there for the orientation jus 2months ago.. i had talked to bhumians before i joined about my ideas of making student's career better... when i was at the orientation, i was appreciated and recognized... we had a chance to discuss about our idea.. i was part of CC and MAD at chennai.. they made me realize wat real life is.. we usually don't differentiate between giving a life and giving a living ... they made me understand the difference, i learned many things from bhumi's openings and activities it has always been mutual.. unfortunately i have not been able participate actively, but even now when i get involved in any social cause... bhumi is famous every where, for the work we do.. for every up coming NGO, bhumi is more than example.. its a ROLE MODEL>> PROUD TO BE A BHUMIAN...
I have been with Bhumi for almost a year now along with my education at India's premier technology institute - IIT Madras. This year of involvement with organization has really helped me to discover myself. Everytime when I interact with the kids from orphanages where we operate from and see their smile its an amazing experience. Celebrating festivals with them, playing sports with them, teaching them, etc. has been an unparalleled experience to me. Education is our main aim and we believe that these under-privileged kids are the future of India. From organization point of view things are very smooth and democratic, nobody is the boss or dictator here. Opinions of all active volunteers are taken before any major decision. This has led the organization to grow thick and fast, one of the examples of which is Bhumi getting highest number of volunteers among all NGOs in Chennai through Times of India's - Teach India Initiative. I love the organization's motto which we are closely following: "Change Today.. Change Tomorrow" , Bhumi is here to stay and make a long term change.
My name is Jaishree. I signed up as a volunteer with Bhumi as soon as I knew I could help in a productive way, with helping less privileged kids in the neighborhood. The first meet focused on our awareness, and we had a lot of instructions as to how, where, when, why our actions would influence the kids to behave better. What you see is what you get. Even if I had to relocate to another place soon after, it was great knowing people united toward a better cause/society and working proactively toward it.
I joined Bhumi by July'08. After i had registered they called me and had phone interview asking whether i would be in Chennai for nxt 1 year at least. That made me realize how serious they are and imm joined them. Bhumi has always been giving the best to students. The hardwork that goes on to prepare the syllabus is excellent. They plan to perfection and spend a lot of time in it. Bhumi takes care that the teachers don't get stagnate and constantly change sharing responsibilities with diff volunteers and arranging train the trainers program periodically. Off late I have been missing sessions and students. Hoping to be back to be with students and a proud Bhumian!!! Bhumi rocks and sets benchmarks for upcoming NGO's..
I am a proud member of Bhumi since november 2008..Little Einsteins was the program for which i was volunteering and it was an initiative to teach science for the secondary school kids.. The over all execution of the program was very well organized by weekly meetings, constant feedback from the volunteers as well as the school kids, periodic updates of the test taken by the kids along with their grades and performance and an orderly allocation of the volunteers for the days.. More than teaching, I got to learn a lot of things from the kids..their enthusiasm to learn new things, coming up with creative ideas and a cloud of curiosity around them was what made my experience a wonderful one..! Thank you Bhumi for giving me such an experience ....
I joined Bhumi two months back. I am really amazed to see the vibe in the team members here. Working for children is not only the motto but also passion of Bhumians. I am working in the field of collecting course details and preparing a database that can be used for career counselling. Despite this task being cumbersome, I really enjoy doing it. The way we people connect with kids, it brings in a feeling of a family altogether. Bhumi is perfectly working its way on the tagline that goes like: CHANGE TODAY, CHANGE TOMORROW...
A relatively new member in the Bhumi team,I joined this organisation three months back. The first thing about Bhumi that strikes you is the organised approach towards attainment of the goal. With a clear vision it moves forward striving to change the face of India.I am a volunteer of the Little Einsteins program that teaches science and maths to children building their fundas right.Though I ve attended just one class session teaching these enthusiastic little children is very exciting. These kids have a never ending thirst for knowledge and their energy levels keep you on the go.The supplementary lessons provided to them help them understand the subject thoroughly.Apart from educational activities I ve seen Bhumis role in raising environment consciousness throgh Free the Tree campaign and its fund raising activities through plays. My experience with Bhumi so far has been an eye opener to the potential that exists in each and every one of us to help shape the world we live in. Bhumis contribution to the society will help India a big way in the long run.
BHUMI - Change today, change tomorrow..... has had a great part in changing my life and bringing the best out of me. It was my long time plan to involve myself in a volunteer organisation and then i found about BHUMI in facebook and it was my right choice. BHUMI is a youth non-volunteer organization and involved in educational projects like Make a difference (MAD), Little Einstens, Kanini, Career counselling and enivornment based projects like Think green. Once i registered in BHUMI i got a mail regarding my first orientation. Bhumi is a very systematic organisation. On the day of orientation i got to meet the Entire team and was enthralled about the part played by bhumi to the society. I was personally interviewd by the Bhumi team regarding my interests, why did i choose BHUMI in the first place and the team emphasised my roles as a volunteer. I joined the MAD team. I was looking for my first class at Bala Mandir. The day had finally come and i was supposed to handle about 10 kids and teach english. This was my first experience in teaching and i take great pride in it. We follow lessons provided by EZVIDYA wherein there are many activities and fun learning games in english. One among the activity is singing songs emphasising english words so the children get to learn english better. I was first hesistant to sing a song with all the actions and in my own tune. But when i did that all my BM kids liked it and they wanted to sing everytime when we begin a class. The students have influnenced me a great time and i had learnt a lot from them. From them i learnt to be patient, ever smiling and many more. When i see my kids enjoying my class i feel i have achieved greater in my life and there is nothing par with it. Bhumi is on its next step in hosting 'Siragugal' which is an inter-orphanage cultural event, a great cultural mela. Bhumi You rock.... Proud to be a Bhumian... JAIHIND.
I have been with Bhumi for the last one year and this has been the most productive time of my life. Though I go to classes each weekend to teach, almost each day I learn something new and there can be no better joy than seeing the improvement in the kids by each day right in front of u and knowing u have played ur role in that.
Hi all.. Am writing this whole heartedly and not just for the sake since I am a member of Bhumi.. Before Joining Bhumi & YHM my life was just like - dont know how to explain. My child hood dreams was building an orphanage and educating the street childrens. But i dont have any funds or investments and I lost hope. But still i have planned not to marry till i start an orphanage for street childrens. Tried for foriegn jobs for investments. God gifted me with good friend and lovable sisters and parents. They were very gud tat i dint got a chance to know how selfish were others till my college life. And i was very deppressed since every one are selfish and even my friends cheated me (even though i helped them in many ways).. I started hating life.. When I joined Bhumi I was shocked to see a number of persons who were working for six days and spending sundays for educating people. I cannot explain I was really very happy and it gave me a hope that there are many selfless people who are ready to sacrifice many things for the cause of gud and also i felt that i can really start an orphanage. I am really happpy and I am ready to cut office for Bhumi.. I feel that i have did a great mistake by joining MCA since I was forced to spend my week ends by attending the classes & i cannot take full responsibility.. If I had joined b4 2 years I wouldnt have took MCA.. And about Bhumi the persons who impressed me a lot is Vaishnavi, Mini, Mani and Vivek..
its been only two months since i joined BHUMI...but i learned a lot...great organization with very great enthusiasm..I am enjoying my time with kids because of their interest and their love..because of their structured syllabus its easy to give importance to every child...bhumi not only gave me opportunity to help society but also to mingle with great minds....every day with them i feel like a new born since i get to learn a lot from them......the power of youth can be realized very much from us.........proud to be part BHUMIAN........wish i could do more......BHUMI ROCKS
Bhumi changed my life to a great extent. I am a volunteer of program "Kanini" at Roshini Home. I teach computers at weekends to the kids over there. I see myself to be a better human being and responsible. Previously i used to be totally self-centered and ego-centric, after i became a part of bhumi things started to change and people see me as a better person. I was never involved in any kind of team work before and will never adjust with others. But seeing how bhumi works and the volunteers i tried to change myself and still doing that for the betterment of myself. I see myself evolving into a good soul and respected by many these days. It feels great to be a part of such an organization where everything is like a family and each activity is done with a lot of perfection. To be part of such a noble cause makes myself above my friends and still makes me humble. Thats what BHUMI gives you. Thanks a lot to BHUMI and its volunteers(to myself too :) )
My association with Bhumi has been awesome ! i personnaly feel that bhumi is a doing a great job in helpin the children to develop as an individual. It feels really great to go and teach the children every week, spend time with them and help them in any way that i can !! Personaly i have developed as an individual myself because of my association with Bhumi..the best part about the initiatives taken by bhumi is that we teach the childen through activities and games which really help them in understanding better and its also fun !! all together its really nice to be a part of bhumi..
Bhumi has been a good change for me. Being able to give back to the society what I got from it has been a heartwarming experience. It has also showed me how a group of unorganized people can come together for a good change
My experience opened me up to a whole new world, one different from mine, one where even basic things may sometimes be a luxury. Very importantly, it taught not to be wasteful. Teaching these orphanage kids some basic IT skills was a joyful experience, as they were quite an enthusiastic bunch. I hope that their enthusiasm in computers continues and guides them to a respectable position in their careers and lives.
Life in Bhumi has changed for me as a volunteer with equalance to the kids i teach. An year back a mere routine job for various reasons now has a significance in doing the same. Bhumi is doing wonders to the children in shaping up their future and also potrays studying as fun. I m so pleased to be a part of this fun. And my experience with Bhumi has been wonderful, is wonderful and will be so too. Rock Bhumi... =)
Honestly , i have never been a direct participant for any bhumi activity. But what attracts me more is the resilience and perseverance shown by every Bhumi member, since its inception. i have certainly watched it grow steadily from where it started . Wish you all the very bes in your every endaevour..
I've not worked with Bhumi coz i am at Vellore and Bhumi functions at Chennai, However I must appreciate the work it does, which I keep abreast with through the mails. They are serious about what they do. Thats why they have tried everything it takes to get people involved like a link in Facebook, a group for us to know whats happening and prompt calls or text messages as soon as people become members. In a time that people dont take responsibility for themselves, coming up with an organisation to help others and being good at it is something that Bhumi deserves an encouraging pat for!
I have been with Bhumi more than a year. Its been truly a amazing and fulfilling experience. Initially I just started contributing some money but they made me realize that only money alone doesnt make any difference. So I chose to spend some time in weekends to teach computers to the kids. The thing I like in BHUMI is they made us most comfortable. They put the volunteers into projects only based on the preferences of Volunteers.Volunteer can even given the choice of chosing the center. The time which we spends with the kids are truly a great experience... Iam proud to be part of BHUMI....
Bhumi has been a learning experience for me. What started as a mere way to finish college community service became a way of living. At every point one needs to give back to the society what it gives us and thats what I have learnt. Bhumi allowed me to communicate with children whom I had never thought I'd be a part of. Initially I was skeptical about this as there was a language barrier and it was a handicap for me. But as I got introduced to the concept of what exactly what happening, that is the teaching of spoken english to underprivileged children, things fell into place. Bhumi's Make A Difference program is unique and fun to be part of. Teaching children is not an easy job but this was more fun than anything else. My experiences with the girls of GGH( Government Girls Home) was a memorable one. Bhumi is a friendly place to volunteer with. Everything is everyone's. it involves each volunteer in every decision to be made and hence gives a feeling of belongingness. The projects done by Bhumi are very interesting and make people want to work! I feel proud to be a part of Bhumi.
i am proud to be a volunteer at bhumi chennai and i have now spent one and a half years with bhumi. the journey has been splendid. walking down the college corridor, a poster of bhumi struck my eyes and it invoked my passion of becoming a teacher, as a child i always imagined myself as a teacher and bhumi made this dream come true and it is definitely an opportunity for me to serve the society especially the new blooms-the future India. teaching these kids definitely gives us pleasure. i can find the spark in their eyes which wishes to touch heigths. i am a part of MAD in bhumi which takes up teaching english. when i stepped into my first class, the kids were very friendly, but they did not want to learn english. thus my first task was to invoke this interest in them and within a few months, i did it. Bhumi gave us the freedom to become innovative and design new teaching methods. i joined bhumi to complete my 90 hours of community service for completion of my bachelor's degree, and even after completing i never wanted to leave bhumi. spending two hours with the kids gives us so much of pleasure and this does benifit the kids also. when i joined, my class could not even say a few words and some did not know the alphabets. but now every child tries to communicate with us in english.i am now a center head of one of the schools under bhumi, which gives me great pridealso challenges me to make a difference now i consider myself as a member of the bhumi family and we promise to make a difference. change today, change tomorrow.
It's a ray of new light! Breath of fresh air! Something India needs! A selfless act! Kudos to Dr. Prahalthan! Feedback - People all over the world are willing to extend the support, look for the signs!
The best thing a person can donate is their time. I feel it’s every individual’s responsibility to help others in their community and beyond. That's exactly what BHUMI is doing.I truly feel proud to be a part of BHUMI, teaching kids and helping them to gain confidence. Also, through volunteering I started to gain more confidence. Spending my time, having fun while making a difference in a Child life gives me an immense pleasure and I now feel that I too do a very little for this society through teaching. Its so nice to see so many youngsters doing such a great thing. I really admire the way the other volunteers motivate the kids, giving self confidence, having fun. Its truly a wonderful feeling I have ever had in my life.Being honest I never thought I could teach somebody. But BHUMI has helped me to change as a person and I wish to continue the good work ever.Perhaps the greatest social service that can be rendered by anybody to the country and to mankind is to provide Education.I not only teach but learn myself.I wish BHUMI to keep up the good work and I wish that I continue to be a part of such a wonderful Organization more like a family in fact.
Its a wonderful organization and doing a great job. Would wish that it will expand its limits beyond any imagination. I recommend this organization for InDiya awards
I volunteered for Bhumi for about eight months in 2009 at the Girls Government Higher Secondary School and Juvenile Detention Centre (Chennai). The first few days that I went to the Centre, I must confess I felt like an outsider- I was new, but the girls in the Centre would run up to the other (old) volunteers with pure adoration and affection writ large on their face! I wondered if I would ever gain their affection, as these older volunteers had so obviously done. When we began class, I was grateful for people like Lakshmi, who did not treat the new volunteers like new people, instead gathered us all into the huge big family that GGH was! The Bhumi team was always there to help and guide and to to address any queries or concerns that I had. It was only a matter of time before the 'them' became 'us'. They are organized and plan in advance. Though that doesnt stop them from reviewing and changing if necessary. Thanks to them, I had one of the most beautiful experiences of my life.
Associated for about a month.joined Bhumi as part of Teach India initiative.I m teaching science & conducting Puzzles to school students at Mylapore(chennai).I helped a student, sumathi for a competition,in the next week she thanked me for winnning the competition. On a personal note this service gave me lot more confidence.
I had been a volunteer with several social groups before joining Bhumi. I had planted saplings, and the kids will play in the tree-shades. I had visited old-age homes, and the elderly relished a visiting-son in me. I had played with the children at an orphanage, and the children imagined a family. I had cleaned up the seaside a little, and my neighbors enjoyed a better beach. I had donated to temple-charities, and the Gods had a renovated earthly-abode. I had supplied free meals to the hungry, and the strangers savored a freshly-prepared food. I had always carried on making things a little better for those around me. But, only after starting to work for Bhumi, I had the feeling of fulfillment flourishing in me. I taught the less-fortunate kids the basics of English. Surprisingly, I stood as the beneficiary. I learnt to be as benevolent as the tree, as forgiving as the elderly, as original as the kids, as indebted as my neighbors, as pious as the gods, and as rewarding as the freshly-cooked food. My relationship with the kids was the much-needed nourishment for my soul. If the not-so-fortunate children of today are given the grasp to make the world a better place, children tomorrow will not have to visit old-age homes or orphanages, or clean up beaches, or mend up temples, or feed the hungry. With an organization like Bhumi, which is brimming with like-minded youngsters with invincible drive to bring about a cause, change for a better tomorrow is inevitable.
I joined Bhumi a year back. I have always wanted to give back to the society in the form of education and Bhumi is the perfect platform for the same. I have been inspired by many members, especially to motivate people and not just contribute. I enjoy teaching the children, through the fun methodology we follow! It's been a wonderful experience through this year. Bhumi has helped me change as a person and given me the opportunity to change today to change tomorrow.
Bhumi is one of the best things to have happened to me and i mean to from the bottom of my heart. I have had some of the best moments while taking English classes under the Make A Difference (M.A.D) program! The excitement and radiance on the kids face when they learn something new is something that no one would want to miss! I have taught in two of the places under this program and the experience has been nothing short of amazing! Since we focus on activity based learning, its more fun and does not make stuff monotonous for the kids. We play, draw, paint, prepare charts, flash cards and do many other fun activities. In the last class, we provided the kids with paper and colors and they made colorful masks depicting various moods all by themselves. To boost their confidence, i came up with a simple gift made out of used Ice Cream sticks. I drew a picture of a girl or a boy in each of them and wrote good boy/girl on it. At the end of every class, the most well behaved kid gets it. I'm really glad i got such an opportunity and i should really thank my friend for letting me know about Bhumi. I now feel that i'm doing something meaningful in my life and spreading smiles around. This is truly the best feeling ever! Apart from this, we also have a Think Green project where we have been working on spreading greenery around however we can. We have fun weeding, planting and watering plants!
I have been a part of the Make A Difference network of BHUMI for the past 2 months. This period has turned out to be one of the most memorable experiences of my life. The kids enjoy the English sessions as there is no orthodox 'blackboard-chalk' teaching. All the concepts are explained by means of fun filled, interactive ways like activities and games. It is immensely satisfying to play a small role in reaching out to underprivileged children and trying to provide what they deserve.
My association with Bhumi would have never happened if I had not seen the poster one day in my college. I applied for the very simple reason, “Complete social work certificate” demanded by my college. Very soon, I got a call from Bhumi. One-two-three-four..! Yes, after ignoring 4 calls, had I not received the call one fine day, I wouldn’t be doing today, what I have always been passionate about and wanted to do which was rediscovered by Bhumi.. And so started my association with Bhumi.. The joy that I get every weekend when I goto the orphanage and teach the kids is immense. And its even more happier when the kids gradually blossom into better learners every day. This transition is phenomenal. It is not an exaggeration but it truly is an emotional moment when a kid walks up to me and tells me something that I taught him few days back. It gives immense satisfaction that ‘Life isn’t all that a waste yet..!’ Bhumi has various projects, and each has its own criteria. The best part about all this is that, as a volunteer, I get to experiment in the rigidity set by the syllabus given for teaching. There is complete freedom to give something in the style of teaching that I’m comfortable with. Teaching has been something that I always wanted to since the childhood days when I played ‘Teacher-teacher’, but surprisingly, it is not this which makes me work with Bhumi. It is the way Bhumi functions and ideology that it has to serve the society. Once I found this attachment, I could not stop myself from doing the best. Every week when I prepare for the class, the only thing that runs in my mind is that, I am not doing this for myself or some person in Bhumi, it is just the cause that we all are working for. It is that kind of an inspiration Bhumi can give if one starts working with it. And.. something that is very exciting about this whole process is that, when I teach, I learn too!
It has been a wonderful experience with bhumi so far and it will continue to be the best in my life! Being a part of bhumi gives me great oppurtunity to teach and get taught simultaneously! Its been more than a year now and I still feel very ecstatic going to classes!
First time left my parents and came to work about 1500 km away to a place completely new. I was an alien. People here looked different, spoke different language and ate different food. One month here, I kept secluded and reluctant and then one day one of my friends took me to Bhumi. Then I realised that love speaks one language. I instantly made friends with all of them and then there was no stopping us. I witnessed the journey from 8 people in Januray 2008 to 1439 today. This was one place where my creativity flourished. My dreams got life and I had people who stood by me and help me fulfill them. I got everything that I could have asked for...great opportunities, great people, lot of fun, and most importantly right to expression. I was heard here and my ideas valued. It gave me a kick in life and is a sustained source of happiness. This is what gives me my 'Quantum of Solace'. I have grown as a person and this change is irrevertible.
I always used to think how much I ve given back to the society, what I have really done as a citizen apart from cheering for Indian cricket team, what i ve done ?. The result will always be null. Then I found Bhumi. Actually I should thank my friend for introducing Bhumi to me. Though my association with Bhumi is still at the grass root level (3 months to be precise) its been a wonderful experience. When I first went for an ice breaker session with my friend, apart from the ice the one thing that surely broken was my perception about the life. I thought I have suffered a great deal, but looking at the kids and I have not even faced 10%. Though I am doing career counseling to them, it was me whoz learning many things from these kids. :) What started with 4 people is now grown like anything with 1000 members. I can proud to say that I am one of those. I am a Bhumian. Together, we can make a difference.
I have been associated with BHUMI for more than a year though I've been actively volunteering as a teacher in their teach-at-orphanages programs for just over a month. My experience with the organisation has been extremely enriching, eye-opening and satisfying on many levels. Enriching because it has contributed to a great growth at a personal level, eye-opening because I watch unfolding before my eyes a wave that's carrying young India forward. Satisfying because I am a part of this wave. BHUMI stands out as an NGO with remarkable vision, compassion, commitment and a tireless enthusiasm for the cause.
Joining such a great organization gave me an immense satisfaction. Really, to work for poor children who can't afford education, who can't have few moments of happiness & affection, those who never knew how birthdays are being celebrated, what is the taste of exorbitant pizza & what is that amazing thing called as " video"game. Those ,who could have spend their life fetching rags from the slum of pudupet(Chennai's biggest slum)or running behind the cars just in the meager hope of getting few bucks for bread... If a group of people are working to bring smile on faces of these people whose rolling tears are even dried on their cheek, for me it's great to be part of them. whether its about educating these children , organizing an annual inter-orphanage cultural fest (which is in NOV.09) or adopting public parks for development "BHUMI", YOU ARE ALWAYS THERE to make the difference to evaporate the discrimination from the society. JAI BHUMI, JAI BHARAT.
I had a very good experience since i joined Bhumi. This organization has trained me how to teach the underpriviledged children with basic english. I am able to easily teach them due to the training Bhumi gave me also the system of saturday and sunday batch volunteers proves to be very convinient for teaching times. Career counselling is a very great experience so far. Since it targets the higher level students like 12th std it is very useful for the students. I feel some positive energy inside me every time i motivate the children with the various PPTs shared by various other volunteers of Bhumi. In short this is a very structured organization with abundant potential to train us the best and facilated us the best to teach the underpriviledged children. I feel very proud, self contended and satisfied as a Bhumian.
Bhumi is a bunch of extremely motivated individuals working for a common cause. I was impressed as well as ashamed by seeing them do their job with a kind of commitment that is rarely observed. One that does not deter with time. I purchased a few of their cloth bags and spread the news to friends of mine in other cities. I can proudly say that because of bhumi, there are atleast a hundred people who do not use plastic like they used to. I wish them the very best.
My experience with Bhumi cant be expressed with words at all. I first joined Bhumi through TOI, and my first day with Bhumi was on Diwali celebrations in one Orphanage. I still cant forget the happiness these kids had when we celebrated Diwali. I was also involved in Career counselling of the kids and also in the sports and Cultural event Siragugal.
I have worked as a volunteer, multiple times with different organisations for brief periods..But the joy and satisfaction I get from working with Bhumi is multi-fold. My role with Bhumi is as a volunteer, teaching English to 5th Std students. I have never till today experienced so much joy in goin to school! The sheer pleasure and satisfaction recieved from being with the children is an unforgettable experience. What makes me proud is when I see the students showing so much interest in what we teach and are so happy to attend these classes. This to me is the biggest achievement for Bhumi. At Bhumi we emphasize more on teaching with a fun approach and make sure that all our volunteers are of a young age. Beacuse of these two points, I think we connect with the students on a much higher level, as they can relate to us in a better way. Through Bhumi, Ive made so many good friends, that we make it a point to atleast meet once in a week! All in all, this is a fabulous Ngo, doing amazing work, making a huge difference to so many lives and Im glad to be part of it.
Our earth(bhumi) should be proud to have this BHUMI within it. I am really happy tat I am one of the volunteer of this.It has the young and enthusiastic volunteers with it. Really we can find how young people contribute for our nation through this. In this fast moving world the people mainly from corporate world spending their time for social activities is something really great and appreciable. As our ex-president Dr.Kalam sir said India's future is really in the hands of young people like here.If you once join bhumi never you will like to get out of this. I think bhumi is like my another house where I spend my weekends. Exactly I am not teaching rather I learn alot here. I can find my school days back here in BHUMI. Really I am proud to be in BHUMI. Proud to be a BHUMIAN. I wish BHUMI should be expanded all over India soon.
An excellent example of how much can be achieved by bringing together like minded youth to work towards the welfare of the society. Was able to meet a lot of people from diff walks of life all trying to do their part to help the people in need... Am excited on being a part of this organisation.
Bhumi has been my gateway to the world beyond just happiness, its given me the satisfaction of being a human. Every time i am inside this team, and with the members of this team, i feel really graet, that i along with fellow brothers and sisters are striving for a better India tomorrow. And the most wonderful thing is that, we are able to live upto what we dream for. "PROUD TO BE A BHUMIAN"
It is a divine opportunity for me to join Bhumi. As swami Vivekananda said 'My faith is in younger generation, out of them will become my workers, they will work out the whole problem. & We want that education by which character is formed, strength of mind is increaded, the intellect is expanded and by which one can stand on one's own feet'. One can find both these realities of these saying in Bhumi. I think only in Bhumi.
I joined Bhumi on september 2008 and then its ben a life changing and enlightening experience for me. It changed me from being a capitalist to a socialist ( not in political or economical tems) but from personal standpoint. Being a business graduate I alsways thought making profit and maximisng shareholder value is the sole aim of life but Bhumi thought me to be considerate and caring not only to the not so fortunate kids who need our help but also to the people around us both at home and work. I have learnt a very important lesson in my life forever. Last but not the least Bhumi is not a NGO driving change for better but a way of life for hundred's of young volunteers acting as change agents for a better tomorrow.
i love children! i love playing, spending time, making different kinds of faces, combing thier hair, etc etc. i could really go on. when i was about 14-15 years old, once i was walking in a street where i saw a slum dwelling, lots of children playing on the footpath,i looked at them and thought why are they deprived of a proper home, education and all that we got without asking, why are they roaming about on streets, i blamed their parents. i reached home and the same thought kept hitting me, then i realised it was the lack of education that had brought them to that state, same if they were educated they would earn and live a respectful life, havin all the basic amenities that they were rightful of. ITS THEN that i thought me as a human being should do something for my fellow beings, even little that i could. i then discussed this issue with my friends. and 1 sudden day a friend called and said come over to this orphanage, where we could spend quality time with small children.we went regularly for atleast 2 months but then that orphanage shifted elsewhere. after a long gap(where i was totally involved in studies and personal stuff) i came to know of this ngo called BHUMI through times of India. AND MY JOURNEY STARTED WITH THESE WONDERFUL PEOPLE SINCE THEN. i started teaching english to these orphan children. oh my God! great experience the first day itself! all the children gathered around me and i started asking their names. everybody would shout out their names, and after i was done, each one would personally come and ask me"akka do u remember my name? i am ...." that was so sweet. and thats not all, nobody could get to pronounce my name, so they decided to give me a name, and i got many names like, sneha, rose, leen.. these are few i can remember. i loved it!, as i was getting familiar, week after week, i found the kids to be so helpless not knowing the english language, hence not following what i wanted to teach, here was the major role played by the bhumians. they literally trained me! they took all the efforts, special time and care to make me understand how i should teach the kids, in the manner they would follow me the best. they gave me all the tips so that the kids could benefit the best out of me. and i tried it , the very next class, and it was very soothing to see the kids understand me better. ther's a lot of personal care given by each end every member of this organisation, bhumi, if you cant give in your heart mind and soul in those few hours spent with the children, then you cannot be a part of bhumi. they see to it everyone is doing that. they take updates from you themselves, give you tips themselves, and what not. i thought building up NGOs had become a good way to make money for many people, but i was wrong not all belong to that category! BHUMI works towards only one goal and thats EDUCATING INDIA!Which directly effects the growth and success of each and every single citizen of India! HAIL BHUMI, HAIL INDIA!
I can be proud to say that I have been a member of Bhumi since the times when it was merely a group of 5-6 youngsters in their final years in college, wanting to do something for the society. There were so few of us and there were even fewer resources. We would meet on weekends in Gandhi Mandapam in Guindy, Chennai and discuss on how to start working. It was in those meetings and some more in a garage that the idea of starting computer education for underprivileged children came, and thus was born Kanini- the first project and later the flagship of Bhumi. We contacted a few orphanages and some of them agreed to let us teach computers to their children. I was a volunteer at one such center along with Vaishnavi. I was very apprehensive as being a shy geek, I had never done any sort of teaching, except some seminars and my unfamiliarity with the local language was another issue. It was Vaishnavi, then new to the organization who took the reigns, never failing to amaze with her dedication and skills, and we managed to hold the classes for 30 girl students with the help of two outdated computers and a laptop. The situation was not very comfortable as the classes were often noisy and hot, but it was the affection of the children and their eagerness to learn which made us put an extra effort into whatever we did. Needless to say we managed to finish the whole course successfully. Although due to my personal commitments I couldn't resume teaching in the Bhumi projects, I remained an active member. Today when I look back, I realize how much Bhumi has grown- from 5-6 in 2006 to more than 1000 volunteers we have really come of age. In my journey with Bhumi, I have come across some extraordinary young men and women who has made a permanent impression on me by their hard work and commitment to Bhumi and society. Bhumi's biggest asset is its huge pool of young volunteers who are willing to work for the society. Together we have shown that given a chance to work, the youth of India can really make a difference..
Committed bunch of people for a noble cause. It is great to work with people who are so enthusiastic about working with slum kids and helping them out with any possible manner. Very Proud to be a Bhumian Elan
I have been associated with Bhumi for more than two years. The primary objective of the organisation is to empower the underprivileged through education. When I joined the organisation in 2007, the group was small and had only one active programme - Kanini [E-literacy]. Today, Bhumi boasts of a high volunteer ratio, with many ongoing academic and environmental programmes.
