Turning Point Center

I volunteer with St. Mark Luthern Church as well as once a month with our bible study class. Without the local chapter, our church would not be able to help 100 plus people at Turning Point Center Unfortunately, the need is there and these folks at the Turning Point are so helpful and supportive and have so many programs to help those who have nothing try to get on their own feet as well as help them keep their dignity while receiving free food and bathroom supplies

Peanut Butter Brigade loves helping Turning Point They ring the complex bell and the people come we give out food, razors tp, soap and this is my 3rd time. The people always say thank you and are very apprciative.

I come to volunteer from St. Mark Luthern Church I love coming here! we are the peaunt butter brigade we come once a month to bring toilet paper etc Turning Point does a great service to the community to help get people back on their feet.

While I did volunteer work it was a learning experience, I learned that they all had different reasons why they were there. They were nice and trying to do better. They spoke out and made a difference in my point of view. I would love and plan on going back to help out. I liked to serve them and talk to them because all they need is someone to believe in them. These people are very smart and have been around the world, they just went down the wrong path but I believe they will find their way back.

The time I spent at Turning Point volunteering in the kitchen was a great experiance. This is not a shelter but rather a safe haven apartment home. Turning Point needs everyones help to help our homeless community. Please help Turning Point too they are what and how a non-profit company should run.

I arrived at TPC Dec 2007 I was a broken down person. I was at Spring Branch hospital. Lost and alone. I had nowhere to go. I lost my job, my income when my case worker talked to George at TPC and he told me to cpome on down.
George helped me through my darkest days and today I am a much happier person for all that George and TPC has done for me.

I came to Turning Point this afternoon to deliver some left over sandwiches from our meeting at work. When my co-worker explained all the wonderful things they are doing there I was happy that I was able to bring the sandwiches Which I know they will be thankful for.

Turning Point helps so many people in our community.

Senior Citizens live in a apartment like setting and work together to run the center. They are served a nutritious breakfast, lunch and super Without the help of Turning Point this may not be possible for many homless people this facility is there only chance of getting on their feet. Keep up the good work!

When I came to TPC I was physically & mentally drained. I truly hated the man I had become but I did not know or understand that I had the disease of alcoholism. Turning Point Center taught me to attack my disease as well as being responsible for my own actions. While I was there I was given the responsibility of guard duty and I took my job very serious. I also attended the aa meetings and was able to dig deep down and finally admit I had a problem. I stayed at TPC for nearly 8 months I was told as long as I was working on me there was no time frame for me to leave. I am now out on my own i share a 3 bedroom townhouse with others and i continue religiously to attend my aa meetings. If it was not for the direction and support i received at TPC I might still be battling my addiction instead of in recovery.

My pastor suggested I go to one of the AA meetings held at Turning Point. It was very helpful in helping me as a parent dealing with an adult son struggling with addiction Just setting teaching me not to be a enabler. It also helped me with my feelings of guilt since there had been a divorce when my son was just a child.
Everyone was very kind and helpful.

This not for profit organization touches the most people in Harris County and the greater Houston area.. I have worked as a volunteer there for many years for this organization. Turning Point takes homless people off the streets and provides a structured environment that rehabilitates them back into society.

Everyone has a need at some point in their life for services and not very many focuses on elderly people who are the lost and forgotten souls. Turning Point serves the homeless and the community outstanding.

George Gomez is without a doubt one of the most caring individuals I have ever met in my life. He helped me, I am a senior, focus on what the real things in life matter. He taught me respect for myself, which I had forgotten, he taught me respect for others and their needs, he reminded me of basic things my parents taught me, however we let these things seem so unnecessary, but without RESPECT, we really have nothing. Another tribute, while working through my time, I have learned about patience. We are always busy in this hurry up world. Turning Point has changed my life in a very good way. Many Kudos to George Gomez!

I have heard about Turning Point and today we left a meeting and had about 20 Jason Deli sandwiches so I called and spoke with Jeff and they were very grateful that I thought of them. I was very surprised the first thing you see when you enter is a beautiful statue of an Angel. It looks more like a retirement home rather than a shelter. I will plan to come back and volunteer soon.

Through Turning Point I was able to take charge of my life. I wanted a life free from alcohol and drugs and they gave me the tools to do just that! It has now been over 2 years and I am substance abuse free, I have went back to school and am working on my lvn certification. Turning Point was the beggining of my path and I will always go back.

I looked at organizations that would put the money I give to back into the community that I live. I have given to other local charities and will continue to do so I as my family and I can afford. Turning Point is unique in that they offer services to older individuals that other shelters may not have the facility to cater to. They also have a tour where they tell you the story of how the place came to be and on how it is maintained. If you are looking for a place to give your time or $ that makes a impact on the Houston community then Turning Point is the place you should start.

We are part of a church group that comes to TPC once a month on the weekend to provide a hot meal. (their kitchen is closed on weekends to let the staff have a day off) I always enjoy interacting with the residents and leave feeling that I was succesful in doing my part even it though it is small. Turning Point is a one of a kind non-profit that delivers services no other place does.

This is a great organization that connects people with needs such as shelter , food and clothing but also takes part in developing the determination these people need in order for them to once again join mainstream society. Any help in sustaining the viability and goals of this organization should be strongly considered!

The Turnig Point Center is an innovative and caring resource for the homeless in Texas. Turning Point provides needed support for the homeless- from food and shelter to programs that help people get off the streets and into jobs. They also have assistance to those needing mental health. No other non profit in the Houston area does as much for the homeless.

The staff is top-notch and continually provides care and support for the needy..

Turning Point is a safe and secure place that takes you off the streets. there is people that pass through there that are drug addicts and alaholics but at Turning Point thgey sober up and become people again. Turning Point forces them to work on their addictions with the services they make each and everyone do. I have been living here since 2008 I love Turning Point, Isha & George have been so very kind to me.

.My sister in law is currently living at Turning Point she has a nice room and says she really likes it there. She has her job there in the kitchen and once every two weeks gets to take a pass and stay with us for the weekend. I have seen the change in her from everything to her attitude her desire to help others I can say Turning Point has made a substantial difference in her life. I must say Turning Point is a very worthy place takes to heart the people they care for

I worked with TPC as an community organizer volunteer at Make a Difference org. I saw so many people get a good start, and I learned so much spending time with the homeless. Turning Point continues to work magic into the homeless lives.

As a member of United Methodist of Houston we have been volunteering for many years. The Turning Point Center is a shelter with a heart they never turn anyone away. The curriculum there is structured and people are excepted to work on their problems as they get beneficial services allowing them to get back on their feet.

My name is John and i was a resident back in 1999 I came in a mess and left with a new direction. I had a drug problem and though i relapsed 3 times after leaving I kinda got it straight finally. They keep a tight ship there and the things you learn about yourself help you continue your lifes journey.

I came to volunteer today I had no place for my son to go (he is 7) I They made an exception to allow my son to be here with me while I voluntered I think Turning Point Center is a model other non profits should copy the staff and the people living here were all very nice. I reccomenbd Turning Poiint.

I first came to the Center last week with a group of us from my school who had a clothing drive. I returned today to deliver some items from my house that we do not use I thought they could use.
I feel comfortable in giving here because i support their cause.

I come here a couple times a month and have been since 2004. I have seen beautiful changes like the new computer building. This place is doing Gods work for the community

I was ordered by the court to do community service and I never knew there was a place for homeless people like this. Two very big thumbs up for Turning Point Service

I spent the day at Turning Point and I must say I am very impressed. The people who stay there all pitch in and contribute to the upkeep and the running of the center. This is a very well thought out recovery for the homeless if your in the Houston area and wish to volunteer for a good cause then do it at Turning Point.

I work for The Grantsmanship Center in a professional capacity and we are partnering with the Turning Point Center to bring a grants training workshop to Houston in June 2011. Jeff Fleming has been very helpful and professional in offering their facilities for the training. The training targets nonprofits and government agencies who want to make a difference in their communities. We are looking forward to being in Houston and partnering with the Turning Point Center.

Turning Point Center works with older adults. It's an amazing place of caring. The people there have a working garden to grow their own food and all work towards the running of the home.

There are so many people that need help- with homeless people they need everything food, shelter, clothes and Turning Point does all the above and more they provide assistance in helping seniors get their medications , mental health and even transportation to the various resources., Turning Point does a great job of going the extra mile to help as many people as possible who may not otherwise be able to find services to get back on their feet. Next time you see a homeless person don't judge them not all are addicts or on the street by their choice I know becuase i was once one of them.

I think this property is one of the cleanest I have seen, and the staff was very friendly. This place is doing a great service for those that are less fortunate or just down on their luck.

I have volunteered in the kitchen garden for the past few months and am impressed with Turning Point. It's a rare organization that recognizes the importance of fresh, wholesome food as one facet of it's community's well being.

2 Fold for Turning Point. My sister was almost homeless and in dire need of support, rehab, friends, faith and somewhere to live & be around other people until she got better. I say 2 Fold, because my son was over in Hawaii and had a psychotic episode. He came here to Texas and Turning Point along with George Gomez, helped my son throuh a rough spot. Just giving him a place to go in the day to volunteer or help with filing in the office. At the same time, while I had to go to work, I felt very comfortable taking my son there each day. Knowing he would stay busy and not feel so alone. My sister stayed there as long as they would let her. While she was there, they helped her with some emotional problems, got her all the health care she needed, provided a place to live and she now has been living on her own for several years, has a great job and just recently got promoted.
My son is struggling, but he lives with me and is currently looking for a job. Not only were the staff and volunteers great, but the alot of the people there are just like you and me, only need a little guidance and support. I apologize, I do not know the managers name, but George Gomez gave me 100% support and still does to this day. His faith is always strong and comforting.

I am located in South Bend Indiana I am not able to actually visit your facility. But, I do believe that any thing that helps the homeless is a wonderful service. But, with regards to setting up a volunteer to work at your location. Jeff was very helpful and quick to respond.

I came with my son we helped in the kitchen today. I was here last year and was pleasantly surprised to see the new training center built.
The people seem very polite and the work the center is doing should be commended.

Turning Point is a needed facility in the Houston area and the staff and volunteers there consistently demonstrate caring, compassion and understanding for the clientele that they serve. Many of our clients have been able to improve their lives with the assistance of Turning Point.

I am a employee of MHMRA of Harris County and we are pleased with Turning Point Center help and professionalism over the past five years. Turning Point Center will be and continue to have our greatest acknowledgments towards the population that we work with.

We have known of Turning Point and the level of its services for many years. The caseworkers at COMPASS view it as an excellent housing option for our homeless clients with disabilities. It has always been my impression that it is well run, that Mr. Lopez is very dedicated, and that the residents are happy to be there. On another note, my daughter's middle school does community service there from time to time, and she and the other students are also impressed. And it is not easy to impress a middle schooler!

I have known George Gomez for several years in this field and he has worked tirelessly with our YMCA Community Services Program to help coordinate services for at risk and homeless individuals. Turning Point is a great resouce in our Houston community. Turning Point's staff has always been responsive to needs, kind, friendly and very, very supportive to those at risk.
I can't say enough about the about of incredible support that the YMCA Community Services program has received from this organization.

Great facility - they have helped many of my patients and have been very helpful to work with.

Turnig Point has helped me get my life back. It has help me get a gold card get my eye glasses my teeth fix. Turning Point has help me get my self respect back. I thank God for sending me here. Everyone here has been so nice to me.

My daughters and I have been involved with Turning Point on and off throughout the years since the early 1990s. It has always been a remarkable place and the mission of providing odler people with shelter during the hardest times of their life is a very admirable endeavor. It is a well maintained facility and people that I have interacted with always speak well of the facility and of the founder and Director, Isha. Everyone at Turning Point, from the guard at the gate to the office staff and residents that I meet, have been welcoming, cheerful and helpful.

I first heard about Turning Point last summer when on channel 2 had a report about all of their air conditioning units were stolen I mean who steals from the homeless? The service they provide are so needed here in Houston and homeless people arounf our country is at all time highs. I wish all the best to Turning Point a truely great operation.

Me and my girlfriend got the tour this morning after we came to volunteer. I heard on the local news this am about the shelter downtown being over capacity due to the freezing weather. Turning Point does such a needed service in our community and what I was most impressed with is that the residents here all participate in the running of this mission. Turning Point is a very nice place and I would recommend everyone come and volunteer.

Our children volunteer there with our synagogue and work in the garden. They always come back with stories of inspiration but more importantly like planting and working in the garden knowint that what they are so lovingly planning and tending to is going to help out the residents of the turning Point center.

I volunteer with my church and I can cotest that The Turning Point Center is a safe haven for people homeless and in despair. The founder started I think 20 years ago and it has grown to be the go to place for case workers placing clients matter of fact my husband use to be a case worker for the city and he has told me the reputation of this place is stellar. I am always happy to support this wonderful non-profit.

My wife and I visited the Turning Point Center to meet with one of the clients there. We were very impressed with the facility and the staff. The Center deals with some of the most forgotten in our society and the programs at the center bring their clients back to reality and make them part of a civil society again. The rules are strict but fair and the strict rules make sure that those who live there are safe and looking forward to the future.

I would highly recommend the Turning Point Center to anyone who has a need for their type of services.

George Gomez the client manager asked me to come here and say somthing about Turning Point well all I can say is fantastic thingsa about it This facility walks the walk and talks the talk. I know that the founder has been given awards from more then one US President and with rightous cause. They take people with nothing no home no foof , clothes or hope they rebuild souls they do what no other non-profit is doing here in Houston. Where other shelters give a place to sleep Turning Point does all of that and more they help people get back to being self sufficent. I am highly impressed with Turning Point. It is a facility/program to help those literally out on the street turn their lives around. I have met several of the clients. Many of them worship at the church I go to, and some have even joined. My whole conceptualization of what it means to be on the streets has changed. I was a resident at TPC from June 2010 until this January altough my story was not as drastic as others ther TPC allowed me to get my fianances together and now after several months i have a new job and apartment. I thank TPC for all the help they provided me i was so close to being living under the 59 freeway. I lost my job was eventually evivted and thank God i found TPC. I was happy when asked to help them with this review.

Turning Point is a wonderful place to volunteer. The residents are always appreciative and there are many ways to feel helpful, from the garden to dropping off food or providing holiday meals and entertainment.

Turning Point Center epitomizes the concept of helping those who sometimes can not help themselves. The staff is dedicated and extremely competent. The director (Mr. Gomez) is a true humanitarian and lives to serve his fellow man. I have seen the work that takes place there and emphatically endorse this facility and the dedicated staff. One of the best run non-profit organizations I have ever had the pleasure of visiting.

Once upon a time I was a lost drug addicted failure lol now I own my own cleaning business and me and my kids just move into our first house last November. Thank You Turning Point you saved me! I will always have a soft heart for Turning Point and we will be there on Sat the 19th to help in the computer lab.

I was a resident and I would recommend Turning Point Center although this was the lowest time of my life (I lost my apartment, job etc) Turning Point was my savior and I met my wonderful husband Christopher and we have been happily married and doing good ever since.

As a former resident I can attest to the great service TPC offers I was out on the streets with nowhere to go TPC helped me back to being on my own. I am now married and I can thank TPC becuse this is where we met. I live in another city now so I do not go back to visit as much as I would like but this is a place doing Gods work.

I am a director at Whole Foods. We have been donating breads and other various food items for several years. This organization is worthy place for our donations. I am extremely impressed with the outstanding work they do. Homeless in America is at all time highs and it serves us well to be a partner with Turning Point.

I came by today to drop off some items I donanted. We are moving and instead of hauling evberthing or having a garage sale I decided to give them to Turning Point Center. The place is beautifuly landscaped and everyone was very proffesional. I learned that over 100 homeless people live there and that they all contribute in running the center. I am very thankful that our city has a haven for people who are homeless.

Over the years, I have picked up and del donated food, served lunch and sang Christmas Carrols to the residents. Worked in the garden… Everything I have ever done with Turning point has been a positive experience. Turning point is truly a wonderful place. George Gomez is fantastic, I have come to know him over the years and he really cares about all the volunteers and residents.

As Volunteer Coordinator for Urban Harvest, Turning Point Garden is an affiliated community garden that I refer volunteers to. It is a model for many of our "donation" gardens in that everything grown there is donated to the kitchen for the residents at Turning Point Center. All the gardeners are volunteers and the organic practices provide food that the Center may not be able to get otherwise. The garden hosts visitors, young and old, teaching them and showing them how a garden enriches the community.

I was a client or resident in 2005 I spent 8 months at Turning Point. They took me from the street helped me off drugs, helped me receive my SSI and basiclly change my life. This place is the Angels who save people and I will never forget what TPC did for me.

I have been volunteering with Turning Point Center in a variety of capacities for years. I have served lunch on Xmas every year for the past 6 years. Our congregation runs their organic garden. It is a remakable center with vision and they make a differnce in the lives of their residents.

Isha has created a very unique shelter for the aging homeless community. They deserve major kudos for all they do.

Turning Point Center provides an important habitational and critical training service for those older clients who still have much to contribute to society and gt them on their feet. This client base is often overlooked and at worst, forgotten. Turning Point Center tries to make sure that does not happen.

The Turning Point Center offers a fortunate clientele the chance to straighten out their lives by offering a comprehensive support system. The center offers a comprehensive package of support services geared toward getting a person back on track.
The first time I visited the center, to place my brother, I was impressed with the practical approach administered there. Seeing bus schedules hanging on the office wall told me that these people knew what their clients needed. This was a small thing to an outsider but someone without transportation would find them essential.
Later I found the staff took a genuine interest in the success of each client. Everyone is treated as an individual with their needs being accessed and then dealt with.
The Turning Point Center and its programs are for real as are the results they provide.

The property was always in great shape and clean. Without the Turning Point Location there definitely would be a lot of good people in need of help.

The staff was always friendly and great response time whenever I needed to get in touch with someone regarding the project. Plus the tenants were always eager to give a helping hand in any matter and definitely took pride in the location.

I have represented individuals who are receiving services from Turning Point and became familiar with their services. It is truly a wonderful organization that helps individuals who want to be helped to rehabilitate them into the communitiy. Although the organization is serviced by its tenants they provide a broad number of services such as, mental health care, on the job training, transportation to and from doctors appointments, monitoring individuals to make sure they take their medications as prescribed.

Keep up the good work.

Turning Point Center is a great example of how we should be helping others in our community. Not only do they help those that come to their organization, they help other people in the Houston community by giving their time.

I have been volunteering at Turning Point Center going on 2 years now & I fully support their efforts. This is a one of a kind place that helps individuals that society has forgotten seniors 50 and up. Too old for the work force and to young for government sservices. Remember we all get old , have family members reching their elder years this is a place that helps these people. I highly reccomend you contact them and do your part.

My children participate in volunteer efforts at Turning Points through our synagogue. It has been a wonderful experience for them working in the organic garden. It provides a truly hands-on way for our children to do community service and they never get bored helping. It is a place they think about often and I know it has made an impact on them. In fact, they wish our family or neighborhood had a garden like that to eat from and help grow. Turning Points provides a wonderful and much-needed service in our community.

Wow i I can't belive this place is still going strong I was a resident way back in 1992 and they helped me get off the streets. I just went to the website and I am amazed at how it has changed when I was there we had about 50 people living there now they say up to 180 I must go visit when I am back in Houston next month. I woulsd like to kmnow if Percy still works in the office she helped me so much.

I have been here just since January 7th but i already am use to it here i like it i dont know where i would sleep if it wernt for here.

Turning Point Center is not just a place of business. It is somewhere for real people to learn more about themselves and learn how to be productive members of society.
I have known Geoge Gomez for over 10 years and his character speaks volumes. The work and time he gives to each and every individual in the center is given with unconditional love and concern for mankind.
A dear friend mine actually paroled to this center and is now successfully employed and training dogs for disabled veterans. What a great way to give back to those we caused suffering.

I came with my girfriend and her class It looked like better apartments then mine This is a great place if your homeless

I with my classmates spent 3 hours at Turning Point It was def a rewarding ecperiance. I use to go to Star Hope once or twice a year but theres was real dirty this is the nicest homneless shelter I have ever been to. The grounds were very well kept and everyone seemed happy there.

I came with my school mates to bring our donation of blue Jeans everyone was very helpful.

Friday i spoke with Jeff & asked If I coukld have a large truck to pick up my donation on Monday morning since I had to drive to Arkansas which is a long drive after the pickup. I told him that was why I did not donate to Purple Heart they excpected me to be home from 8-6 well the truck never came and and after several calls George finally came to my rescue and the truck arived after 5 pm. I was upset but George went the extra mile in correcteing the problem and even offer to have someone drive me to Arkansas and/or pay the gas. I understand things go wrong sometimes but George went out of his way to make it up to me.I am glad after all my stuff got deliverd there because I know they can use it. On being on time I give 2 stars but George helped them out so I give them 5 stars.

I was very impressed with Turning Point Center the work they are doing for our homeless is special! The economy being as bad as it is I know that places like this are in great demand I will be back to help as I can.

I came to know Turning Point from my dorm mate I helped out in the delivery of our donated items. Everyone there was cordial and assisted us in unloading our delivery. It was a very nice way to spend my afternoon helping those in need.

Turning Point Center helps people in so many ways --- it is not only a shelter for the homeless, it also assists residents in 'turning' their lives around and becoming happy, productive people once more. Resident/clients become involved in their own recovery and are not only directed, but taken to, specific programs which assist them. Their community outreach includes individuals and other groups, such as houses of worship. The residents I have met are generally very polite and helpful to the public and to each other; they know the meaning of the phrase 'we're all in this together,' and the power that comes from that relationship.

I visited the center today with a group that held a clothing drive ( we brought over 500 pair of jeans) The people there were so courteous and grateful It was a lot of work but a awesome experiance.

i am very grateful to turning point. i had sufured a stroke and they helped me when no one else would. i was able to get my @#@! back together and prceed on with my life. i dont know if i would have survived without tp. doug

Turning Point was amazing we learned on our tour how many people they help and all the wonderful programs they have.

I came with a group of people from my University. We spent 2 hours volunteering and delivering the clothing we had collected with our ddrive. The facility is beautiful at Turning Point I have never seen such a nice homless shelter.

I was a "fallen professional" who utilized the services of this center. I lost my certification to prastice as chemical dependency counselor and became homeless. (1) The Director of Client Services (George Gomez) gave me the opportunity to "reestablish" myself in the Social Services industry and return to college. (2) I remained at TPC as a resident manager and returned (after successful discharge) to conduct a Substance Abuse Education group. (3) I filed for and received Social Security Disability. (4) In my return to college at HCCS I have maintained a 4.00 gpa. (5) I moved to a Single Room Occupacy SRO (after discharge from TPC) and am currently residing in my own apartment, drug free for three (3) years.

I had a good time with my wife volunteering with our church. The staff especially the homless people there were very enjoying to hang out with.

I was very suprised at how large a complex this was. They have a entire apartment building with a sprawling resource compter lab set up for their residents. This is the Hilton of homeless shelters the grounds are very well grommed and the people all seem happy to be here and were eager to join in our bingo event we sponsored. Me and my husband both were very imppressed.

I had a wonderful night volunteering here at Turning Point. I plan to bring my whole family maybe on a weekend so my kids can get the full effect of the meaing of community service.

I came this evening to volunteer with my church and upon leaving was asked to leave this review and I am happy to do so. This facility is a great place doing great things for the homeless seniors here in our city.

As a former resident of Turning Point I now volunteer and lead my church, United Methodist Church of Houston Texas to return and sponsor a weekly bingo game for the residents. We bring little prizes like towels, perfume and some neat things i pick up at WalMart. We always have a big showwing (maybe 30 each Monday)
This is the place i lived for almost 6 months and I have been returning to volunteer for the past 2 years. I would encoorage everyone to do their volunteer work at Turning Point it had helped me in my time of need and I will continue to come back to do my part.

I came this eveing to Turning Point with United Methodist Church to hold a bingo event. This is my first time to visit with my church group & the residents seemed to thourgly enjoy us being there. The new building is quite large and very nice. I learned more about all the services offered here and was quite impressed.

When no other facility would help Turning Pont Center took me in provided me food, shelter and the resources to get me back on my feet. Thank You to everyone at Turning Point you Angels

My name is Cynthia Tremont and Turning Point Center rescued me from a very trying time in my life. The love they showed me I will never forget especially George Gomez who gave me a roof over my head a warm pillow to sleep on and the path back to my self respect.

I came to contact with Turning Point Center to help with their bedding needs. Jeff Fleming has been very professional in all of our dealings. The property seems to be very well managed, that is my impression. The people at Turning Point Center seem very friendly, it has been an excellent experience.

Turning Point help get my life back under control. George the programs director took me in off the streets & helped me file my State SSI in December of 2010. George is a awesome individual and as a director of services he has helped thousand of people like me.

I look to a lomng lasting relationship with Turning Point Center the center has so much to offer people in need but first they must desire to change once at Turning Point the people here will guide you thru the nessacary steps to get your life back on track.

My best friend lost her job and home and now stays at Turning Point. I spent today visiting with her and she gave me the vip tour. I have seen what this place has done for her spirit she has a job there has made some new friends and she is making progress from her bad situation. I think what they are doing is so honarable.

I found you on twitter and have checked out your web page Wow thats anmazing you have helped over 10000 homeless. Me and my husband volunteer and feed the homelss here in Seattle it is a huge problem here.

I am a Teacher Parent with a childrens home called Boys and Girls Country of Hockley Texas. We came down to Turning Point to volunteer and do some community service. The residents seemed very appreciative of our efforts and were very friendly.

Before I got to Turning Point my course had been darkened by (9) personal care hospitals. This was a result of my dependence emotionally on my loved ones in-laws and even my pets. I became a "drop Off and then a "no show" over 15 times from hospitalizations. After the open and free shelter life i realzed the next option would be on my merit.
On this resolution and a strong foundation with Maker, my quest began here. As with many of my past experiances positive in my life. No one knows my past being here only a few days more then a month it seems most everybody respects me as I have regained it for myself. These folks have alrady extended hands for volunteers in office 28 (30hrs aweek) This is where I have regained confidence, responcibility & show upendness.

We came to Turning Point Center to plan a field trip that will inform the youth about matters that concern the well-being of those in our community, to break stereotypes about those who are homeless, and to empower the youth in contributing to our society
.
The housing complex seemed very homely providing lots of growth opportunity for those who want to provide for themselves again. Many services are rendered to residents to help them become independent again. I particularly liked the idea of having each individual contribute to the prosperity of the housing facility based on his/her skills set and experience.

I enjoyed being a volunteer first to see how the facility is run and how those in need can come to Turning Point this facility is also dependant on volunteers and donors and It made me feel good to help.
At Turning Point I experianced life with the homeless and interacted with the people here as we helped clean up the facility to maintain a nice and dignified living area.

I felt good today helping here at Turning Point I felt good i really like helping people i really get a kick out of it.

I came today with St Thersa Catholic church. Turning Point is the best homeless shelter I have ever seen i have been to Star of hope and it was not near as nice they are doing good work here.

I was so impreesed with my tour of Turning Point Center i spent 3 hours volunteering and left feeling with a warm fuzzy feeling. The work they do here in Houston needs to be reconized. I will be back!

I came as a volunteer with my church group and I hope that what we did was helpful... But I think the most helpful thing was simply our being made aware of what Turning Point does for the homeless situation.

I felt really good volunteering here. Each person that does live here when they saw us they said thank you and were very nice.

With the economy as it is today your services are needed by many that have never needed them before. Turning Point's property was clean and well groomed.

I came to Turning Poinrt to see how the program works and to complete some community service hours. I enjoyed the tour today and enjoyed working with the people the couple of hours we worked.

I have been donating our family clothes here for several years I don't want to give them to Goodwill or other places that re-sell my donations.

Volunteering at Turning Point Center made me feel like i was making a difference however little- in the people's lives. Even though we were there just doing basic maitnance the residents & staff were INCREDIBLY GRATEFUL FOR OUR HELP. EVERY LITTLE THING TO SUPPORT THESE PEOPLE HELPS & it was nice to know our little part of the contribution was appreciated.

They really came to us and tell us they apprciate that we come and help them and that just makes us feel needed and thanked. I know that they really do apprciate it and that just makes me want to help them even more.

I seen your request on twitter. I was once homeless and this place would be a great shelter to have in my state. keep up the good work!

I visited Turning Point Center with my church activity/volunteer group. I'm always happy to help but sometimes am not sure what I can do to help. I noticed how much little odd jobs were apprciated & needed. It gave me ideas and inspiration to find new ways to help out.

i am with St Theresa's Catholic Church and we came to volunteer on our conformation retreat. I love coming to see different life styles & enviroments that people live in. When I volunteer I love to just have a job to have and know that I helped.

We had to find a last minute service project for our team to take on this weekend & Turning Point offered us the Opportunity.to visit & volunteer.

It was a wonderful to see the opportunites that are offered here & the joy and appreciation off the residents.

I learned at Turning Point that homeless people are not actually as the public portrays them to be. Also that a homeless shelter is not always a run down place! It's possible to run a tight ship where everyone contributes and piches in for the group.

I came today to volunteer at Turning Point Center I am on a conformation retreat with Saint Theresas Catholic Church (I am in the process of being confirmed) I was surprised by the amount of aid they are getting here at Turning Point. It made me feel very good to come volunteer today. I was able to see that the residents apprciate our presence and I was happy that I was able to make a difference however small.

Turning Point helped me to get my benifits like SSI and TB test plus the warm room and 3 great meals everyday

I came with my chuch to volunteer on a retreat that I missed but I've always wanted to do community service with the homeless and old people. I intend to do a lot more projects for the homeless and more community service to help out Turning Point.
It made me feel great!

I came to Turning Point to help with the plumbing problems they have. It's a good place

I lost my home & was unable to afford my medications, I turned to drugs. The director at Turning Point Center assisted me & directed me to a service that helped me get treatment. For 2 months I detoxed when it was time for me to get released George at Turning Point Center allowed me to enter The Turning Point Center. I now have a new lease on life.

I learned by visiting The Turning Point Center with my ROC church group that not all homeless people are addicted to a substance. Some are really trying to get back on their feet and Turning Point is a one of a kind place to help them.

I already love volunteering, but being here in this great center (Turning Point) just made me feel so much more comfortable. The people at Turning Point Center were so grateful (and sweet) They each have their own way to contribute to their little community. They are all great people that reside here. I have learned that being homeless is not a rare thing. The Turning Point Center have rescued more then 10,000 people. Being homeless is becoming a bigger issue because of the economy but The Turning Point Center is helping so many with this problem.

Turning Point Center has helped me to continue and grow emotiomnally battling back from my chemkichal dependancy.

I became familar with Turning Point Center while helping the center replace and upgrade their security cameras

I heard of Turning Point Center through my sponsor. He helped me & get accepted into the program. Besides providing the basic necessities as welln as a sense security and fraternity, Turning Point has enabled me to do much more then i could of done alone.

There AA and theraputic programs has given me the opportunity my rehab and helped with my copying skills. Turning Point has also helped with my medical and phychiatric problems. Their computer lab has made it possible to apply for enrolment, apply for jobs and a means to research social security disability.

You will never find a bettr run shelter for the homeless. Not only do they provide food and shelter to the forgotten elderely, disabled and handicap but they provide services like transportation to & from doctor visits, they also help homeless people get state benifits, State ID cards and provide job training and employment.

I came to Turning Point Center in March of 2010. I have now been here 11 months & I like the structure of how Turning Point is set up. The rules & policies here give you the hope and chance of a better life. I especially enjoy our weekly group meeting where George speaks words of wisdom &encourges you to stand up for yourself and make a better life.

I came in contact with Turning Point Center while helping the center get bids for the alarm sytem, sewer and refrigeration replacement. I think Jeff and the staff are caring people who are trying to keep up the shelter making sure everything for the homeless people living there is being reparied or replaced. Jeff wanted good prioces but more important wanted quality workmanship and I was happy to help with pre-screened contractors from Service Magic.

Turning Point Center has done alot for me & I am very grateful. They have helped me get my Texas Gold Card & I now get Doctor's visits and all my needed medication. TPC also helped me get into MHMAA to be treated for my severe depression & anxiety disorder with all the medications i need as well free of charge.
The structured enviroment has helped me feel productive again by doing my assigned chores I feel I am giving back something to Turning Point Center and at the same time learning new job skills & experiance. In the past I would isolate myself but living at TPC has taught me accoutabillity which i really needed.

First thing I noticed was how clean Turning Point Center was (Pride in Ownership). Giving people hope by allowing them to contribute to their growth.

I arrived at TPC in Dec 2007. I was a broken down person. I was at Spring Branch Hospital lost and alone. I had no where to go lost job, income. I had no place to live when my case worker called TPC and George Gomez told her to bring her on.

My health wasn'nt good I meet George the next day. Before ariving my self esteem was gone & my life skills were not working. George & TPC helped me through this. Today I can use my medical skills & the skills TPC has taught me to help others.

I throught the help of George at TPC now have my SSI I work and pay my own food and bills and most importantly I HAVE REGAINED MY SELF ESTEEM! i THANK GOD FOR TURNING POINT CENTER EVERYDAY.

I was asked to place a bid on some plumbing work at Turning Point Center in January 2011 I was amazed at the facility how clean and well maitained it was kept. I was truelly impressed with how the residents all had a position or job in keeping the place up. I never imagined a homeless shelter could be so well organized. This facility should be reconized for the outstanding work they are doing helping our cities homeless senior citizens.

I came to Turning Point homeless. I never had a real job they helped me apply for ssi 8 months ago and i got it in December 2010 Now I feel like I am feel like a up standing citizen

Ive been a here since Sept 2010 I was living on the streets I was sick and had no where else to go. I found out in Aug 2010 that I had Lupus. Turning Point took me in gave me a warm bed 3 meals (hot) a day I am disabled and cant get a real job. I get fatigued from my disese . Everyone here is nice especialy the owner Isha she is a beautiful person and is doing a wonderful job with this place

I have been working with Turning Point Center for 9 years I have seen the lifes of thousands of people changed in a productive positive way. For many elderly homeless adults The Turning Point Center is a remarkable organization that is truley making a differance.

Turning point Center is a safe & secure alternative to being on the streets. Even though the population is comprised of people with many problems it is a safe haven and all the residents contribute to the maintance and daily upkeep of the Center.

I have been donating to this Charity for several years. I think what they are doing there is great
