Mission: To support talented young musicians in their preparation for careers as instrumentalists and vocalists.
Programs: Debut orchestra and conductor in residence-the debut orchestra is one of the oldest pre-professional training orchestras in the country. It is comprised of approximately 70 talented musicians from around the los angeles area, ages 15 to 25. Debut alumni consistently move on to positions with top symphony orchestras and chamber ensembles in the u. S. And internationally. Adhering to a professional rehearsal schedule, the debut orchestra performs the full range of orchestra literature, from baroque to 21st-century, including works for both chamber and full orchestra. Musicians are selected each year through blind auditions. Orchestra members receive a scholarship to support their studios.
teaching artists program-provides students with dedicated teachnig artists and quality instruction in a an inclusive environment enabling students to develop their full musical and social potential. Creates, builds and cultivates strong and vibrant relationships through enlightening and empowering each student individually and each community collectively. Knows that learning music inspires passion, perseverance, teamwork, creativity, confidence, leadership and mentorship. The program is in eight schools in the los angeles area. During the year there were approximately 33 teaching artists who provide instruction in violin, cello, flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, low brass, percussion, harp, piano, guitar, voice and general music.
scholarship - offers financial assistance to young musicians. One of the few sources of aid to students below university level. The foundation granted and paid 30 scholarships throughout the year.
