Causes: Centers to Support the Independence of Specific Populations, Children & Youth, Children & Youth Services, Human Services, Job Training, Vocational Rehabilitation
Mission: To provide child and adult daycare services, vocational, therapy and support services for individuals with acquired or developmental disabilities or other special needs, and their families.
Programs: Adult day activities and daycare services: (persons served - 200 - 250 per year)adult day programs provide personal care, social activities, meals, recreation, and some health-related services. The vocational training program teaches and reinforces concepts related to work such as: responsibility, attendance, task completion, problem solving, social interaction, motor skill development and safety. Special needs childcare (persons served - 100 - 130 per year)our 5-star rated early childhood education programs provide programming for all children, including those with disabilities or other special needs. This unique combination of services includes education and childcare programs, nursing services, onsite therapies, summer camp, service coordination, respite care, and parent education to vulnerable and high risk families.
therapy services: (persons served - 250 - 350 per year)therapy services include occupational, physical and speech therapies. We serve a vast array of clients with diagnoses including cerebral palsy, developmental delay, genetic disorders, orthopedic injuries, autism, adhd, mental illness and sensory processing disorders, including complex cases with multiple diagnoses.
employment services: (persons served- 300-350 per year)employment services are for individuals with disabilities, age 14 years and up. Employment services is a goal-oriented program of vocational services designed to increase an individual's independent functioning by increasing vocational skills and helping the individual find competitive employment in the community.
home based care: (persons served 15-30 per year)attendant care is provided for individuals with disabilities, ages 18 and older. Trained attendants provide assistance in the home with basic personal care, grooming, housekeeping, meal preparation and laundry. Respite care provides short-term temporary relief for families of children or adults with special needs. Respite is designed to give families a break from the stress of providing daily caregiving. Home based care services were discontinued midyear 2017 due to funding cuts. Community education and volunteer (1,000 - 1,400 per year)united rehabilitation services provides community education outreach to raise awareness in the community of the challenges and needs of individual with disabilities. We provide presentations on disability etiquette and creating a more inclusive and welcoming society. Periodic educational seminars and workshops are also offered to families and professionals on topics such as guardianship, autism, sensory feeding etc. Volunteer opportunities are provided for both individuals and groups. Many create interactive experiences with our clients, both young and old in addition to project participation/completion. In addition, we assist in identifying community-based volunteer opportunities for our clients so they too can give back to the community.
