Crayons to Classrooms provides a much needed service to the teachers in the Dayton, Ohio, and surrounding areas. Many families cannot provide their children with things as simple as paper, pencils, folders, crayons, etc. It is ludicrous, senseless, and laughable that in America in 2018 a student should have difficulty learning due to the lack of a .25$ pencil. So as teachers we frequently dig into our own wallets to provide much needed supplies and materials for our students.
I have worked in Dayton Public Schools for 4 years and I have found that my most important role is doing whatever was needed to help provide my students with the best education possible. Crayons to Classrooms greatly assists in that need for the students.
This is a great organization. They actually helped me provide materials to accommodate for my diverse group of students. The right materials.
Wow! I have taught for 43 years and felt so much support from this non-profit when they provided my classroom with the supplies I usually have to purchase with my own money. They even had items I could give to my students to use so they do not need to get supplies at home. When visiting their store, the volunteers taking care of us are wonderfully supportive and positive. We have only had access to this support for one school year, but I am looking forward to my first visit this school year so I can get my year started with the supplies we need.
This organization is amazing! I am able to get much-needed supplies and resources for my classroom and students as well. There is always something special for the teacher as well, thanks to the generosity of major companies and their donations. Crayons to Classrooms is an amazing resource for classroom teachers.
Crayons to Classrooms is such a blessing to all of the schools that are involved. For me personally, it is like a kid going into a candy store and be told you can pick out whatever you want for free! As educators we spend so much of our own money to help our students get a great education. I teach for Dayton Public Schools, and I am an Intervention Specialist, and we do not get a budget each year to buy whatever we need like most of the other teachers. So, when I heard about Crayons to Classrooms I got very excited!! Most of our families do not have money for school supplies, so us kind hearted teachers end up using our own money. Sometimes I hear teachers say: "I don't have time to go to Crayons to Classrooms" and, I reply "I can't afford not to go there!" I have not had to buy any pencils in the last 8 years!!!" That is huge!!!! It is so much fun going to shop at Crayons to Classrooms where I can get supplies for my students for free! Several years ago I got a few chair pockets that fit over a student chair that they can put their supplies in since we do not have desks. They worked out so great that I decided to make a math lesson out of it, and the students have to measure the fabric and make their own. We use scrap cloth that I have gotten from Crayons to Classrooms and the McMurf Recycling Center, and the students sew their own chair pockets. They are able to use the chair pockets for the entire 4 years that they are with me. I just can't say enough good things about Crayons to Classrooms!
Crayons to classroom is a blessing to my students. The support my class receives from the donations contributed cannot be measured. We are very grateful and appreciate all that Crayons to classrooms does.
I just absolutely LOVE Crayons to classrooms. The volunteers, coordinators and everyone I have ever talked to is always wonderful, polite and willing to help.
Please keep doing what you are doing as it makes a HUGE impact for our school and especially our students THANK YOU
My students looks forward to my shopping trips at crayons to classroom. New supplies at any time of the year are exciting. They love the items I pick up to put in the Prize Box. The process for shopping is so well organized. Staff and and volunteers are always friendly and helpful.
Crayons to Classrooms is an amazing organization that invites teachers of low income students to shop in a store for supplies-at no charge. The often leave with over $1000 of supplies (twice a year) but never have to spend a dime. The students can't wait for their teachers to come in the next day and share their supplies.
Very organized and knowledgeable of teacher needs! Very appreciative of volunteers! Fantastic organization!

I worked for the Dayton Public Schools for 32 years directly supporting eight Superintendents but my most important role was doing whatever was needed to help provide our students with the best education possible. Crayons to Classrooms greatly assists in that need for the students. After retiring, I have had the opportunity to volunteer at Crayons to Classrooms and they are a great group of people providing an invaluable service.
They are providing a way to make donated items available to teachers of students in need. They do an excellent job!
Teachers usually have to pay for supplies. This charity provides those classroom supplies. It's amazing-- they ship using carts like they are at Sam's, but at no cost.
They are very helpful and ready to be there when you need them. It is also a very organized organization, who seems to know what they are doing.
They are very organized and detailed, they secure high quality items for the teachers to select from, the staff is very personal and helpful. Not sure what can
I have had the privilege of serving on the crayons to classrooms advisory board as well as been a teacher that has benefited from their services. Every time I visit the store, the volunteers are so friendly and helpful. There are so many items in the store that have been a benefit to my students. I cannot say enough positive things about this non-profit organization. I know my students have loved being the recipients of such wonderful school items that I receive from crayons to classroom.
