Mission: United cerebral palsy association of michigan connects people with disabilities to the opportunities and resources to live productive and useful lives.
Programs: Regional inclusive community coalition (ricc) coordination:the ricc project teaches people with disabilities to use their voices to advocate for themselves on all levels. People with disabilities have the opportunity to organize and run their own coalition meetings, talk with their legislators about disability issues, and learn personal advocacy skills. The ricc served individuals through the program. The ucp ricc coordinators hosted and participated in many events during the year. The program ended in december 2016.
the michigan assistive technology loan fund and the michigan employement loan fund: the michigan assistive technology loan fund loans money to people with disabilities to purchase assistive technology (at) devices. These low interest loans allow people to buy at that leads to greater access to the world at large, increased mobility, and enhanced communication and job opportunities. Examples of items purchased through the at loan fund include hearing aids, voice simulation systems, telecommunications equipment, environmental control units, computers, adaptered recreational equipment, accesible home modifications, and modified vehicles.
work incentives planning and assistance is a project that helps social security administration (social security) disability beneficiaries to understand and use work incentives to start or return to work. A community work incentive coordinator (cwic) works individually with people who are currently working or seeking employment and helps them plan, through using work incentives, to build a more secure financial future and better life.
ucp michigan also provides information and referral services, public policy and individual advocacy and several other grant programs that promote the voice and advocacy of people with disabilities.
