Programs: Tsoknyi Humanitarian Foundation (THF) has been raising funds and coordinating fundraising for annual support of approximately 220 Tibetan Buddhist nuns in Nepal, beginning in October 2011. This annual support is used for food, clothing, cooking fuel, educational materials and supplies. Thf raised funds in october of 2011 for the purchase of a new vehicle for the tsoknyi gechak ling nunnery on chobhar hill, outside of kathmandu, nepal. This vehicle provides transportation for buying groceries and medical supplies. It also is used to take nuns as needed for medical attention. Thf and its volunteer staff in kathmandu also organize multiple medical camps each year at tsoknyi gechak ling, provide ongoing medical care for the young nuns and provide medical attention to the adult nuns as needed. The tsoknyi gechak ling nunnery has 160 people living at the nunnery. In february 2012, a capital campaign to build a new nunnery and educational center called tsoknyi gechak ling on chobhar hill was begun. Marketing and fundraising began and we expect it to continue through 2016. Three new buildings were begun at the nunnery in 2012 and one was completed in 2013. We continue to raise funds for ongoing support of the nuns. The tsoknyi humanitarian foundation provides assistance to other organizations around the world to raise funds for this project by operating a website, social media, printing brochures and coordinating photography, slideshows and videos about the project.
