It’s difficult to put into words how beneficial joining the sangha of Blazing Wisdom Institute has been to me and my family, but will attempt to explain what BWI and Tibetan Buddhism has gifted me over the past three years. <br><br>BWI places a strong emphasis on teaching mindfulness and daily meditation practices. These techniques have helped me cultivate more inner peace, reduced my stress, and have made me a better husband and father. Our guru, through the example of his compassionate activities and teachings has shown me how to develop a deeper understanding of my thoughts and emotions that I don’t believe would have ever been possible without him. <br><br>Tulku Sherdor is a kind and loving family man who leads us along the path of life with his boundless love and peerless wisdom. The teachings of Tulku Sherdor encourage compassion and altruism towards all living beings, from the smallest insect to the trouble makers in our lives. For me, practicing compassion in this way has lead to improved relationships and a more caring harmonious life.<br><br>Blazing wisdom has taught me that Tibetan Buddhism, if we are courageous enough to listen, offers us path to true enlightenment and spiritual awakening. For my entire life I always had this strange and subtle unhappiness that made me feel unfulfilled and I could never seem to shake it off. Now, through the study of these profound philosophical concepts and meditation practices I’ve gained some insight and wisdom into the nature of that subtle suffering, and more importantly, how to free myself from it. It’s not easy, but I can assure you, it’s worth it. <br><br>Tulku Sherdor taught me that through self-reflection and being honest with where I am on this path, real profound inner transformation is possible. I learned that by examining my beliefs and behaviors I could work towards personal growth and a more meaningful life. BWI has been my constant support throughout this journey. <br><br>When students are appropriate and committed, Lung and Wang (transmission and empowerment) for special teachings are offered. These teachings bestow blessings and open the way for spiritual progress. These transmissions are not only for our benefit but they also help <br>preserve our Longchen Nyingtig traditions. Blue Lotus Buddhist Meditation Center has been based in Venice Florida since 2014. Our building was destroyed by a tropical storm in 2021. Since that time we hold classes in the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Venice. <br><br>Our dream is to one day have another home of our own where we can continue classes in loving kindness, mindfulness, and Buddhist Wisdom. I have been a volunteer with Tzu Chi for almost 20 years. To me, this is a faith based organization which inspires me, guide me and be the best of myself under the guidance of Dharma Master Cheng Yen. It is not only an organization of helping people, but also a path for me to practice. <br>We practice our guiding principles through all missions (charity, medical, culture, education, disaster relief, community work, bone marrow donation, and environment protection). <br>As volunteers, we pay our own expense while we do our volunteer work, and we buy our own uniforms. Donors of the foundation are from all different backgrounds from children, seniors, housewives to entrepreneurs, the amount can be any amount as long as donors has a giving heart.

I have visited this beuiful, serene, retreat and meditation center. It prompted me to consider starting a comparable center in Oregon , maybe arond Ashland. What about people who seem to be evil or lost or dangerous to the well being of others. What about child molesters, serial killers, dictators, for example. How could we possibly screen membership in this type of association to exclude individuals who do not really adhere to the values set forth in seeing all of us as significant and worthy of our kind and generous treatment. It is a difficult proposition. <br>The best we can hope for is to state our intent and have faith that those who wish to participate, will indeed act accordingly. The buddhist premise that our life’s purpose centers around the betterment of all sentient beings which could easily act as a guiding premise, whether you are a buddhist, a christian, a Muslim an atheist or a scientist. It could hold value for all of us. <br><br>Where do we start? We simplify.our principle, “all humans are significant, valuable contributors worth the respect, kindness and generosity we want to experience.”<br><br>We can engender faith as an umbrella to embrace or belief as a sword and shield to protect us. <br>How can we bring this to our daily life, what game plan can we use? <br>

This is one of the best temple I have ever visited. Most importantly, the Great Master GuangDa has helped me to step out of my issues, and given me long term guidance. His personalized teaching of Zen, and how to change our point-of-view has been one of the most amazing thing I have ever learned through my entire life.

This foundation was founded bu Buddhist Monk Lama Jigme Dorje of the Khawalung Tashi Choeling Monastery in Kathmandu Nepal. In 2005 the Monastery was built and almost immediately found its doors bursting with children that needed a home, food and an education. Lama Jigme Dorje has cared for over 50 young children, some have grown up in the temple as they have no families or their families are too poor to care for them. Each child is striving for a better life for them selves, their families, communities and the world. I think it is important to help them. There is even a programs set up to visit the monastery and stay and help teach the children proper hygiene and English. I am looking for ways to help them now. <br>

I have given to this organization for many years and my donations have been used very wisely and the organization have wonderful voluteers that are dedicated to this organization .

Weekly meetings on Tuesday evenings for guided meditation and a presentation. Teachers are superb - gentle, experienced, caring. Attendance is free, with donations encouraged. Also offers short courses at introductory and intermediate levels, and retreats. I have been to three retreats and they were beautiful experiences.

<br>The teachers left me more wounded than when I started meditation. They're into a very narrow view of Buddhism that leaves one feeling wrong for "Having your own experience." They attract survivors, addicts and vulnerable people and abuse their power in subtle and profound ways preaching the message in such a convoluted bunch of words luring one into some path and missing the point of Buddhism completely. There is such a thing as over-teaching which they are very good at. Be ready to run for the door when you find you are on a different path and disagree with the precious teachings. They are hard-core but come across as benevolent. They do not tell you up front with what they are about and thus are very misleading to those who just want to heal and be with themselves perhaps for the first time. You can do Buddhist meditation in whatever way that works for you and enjoy the perks and feeling better and more alive without needing a strict path to enlightenment. Enjoy the side views and enjoy being yourself.

I joined Joshua Tree retreat in early 2009 conducted by Bhante Vimalaramsi and experienced an amazing result of equinimity which I had never experienced before during meditation with other techniques/teachers. Having to deal with my husband's condition who had serious infection but I was so balanced and calm, then I went to the center to continue my practice which went deeper. I knew the teaching is correct and immediately effective so when I went back to Indonesia, I organized retreats in Indonesia for Bhante Vimalaramsi and Sister Khema, totalling 5 retreats in the last 2 years, so many people benefited in a consistent progress we can witness among the students, and they're teaching with so much compassion, kindness and passion... I can say the teaching which Bhante Vimalaramsi does by following the suttas is excellent and closely following the dhamma, taught by the Buddha... May many more benefit from their teaching and reach final happiness in this lifetime... sadhu3x
