Programs: Trailnet's travelgreen program worked with businesses to support employees with bike friendly practices and helped 1,500 people log nearly 500,000 car-free miles reducing their carbon footprint while commuting to work in 2014. In 2014, trailnet as a partner in onestl-regional sustainability plan, published "streets for everyone" a guidebook of best practices for improving livability. In 2014, trailnet's youth programs including walk-to-school days, walking school bus, and steps in the right direction, reached more than 2,000 kids in st. Louis city and county giving them the knowledge they need to walk and bike safely.
in 2014, trailnet completed bike walk master plans for webster groves and a four communities plan, which consists of woodson terrace, edmunson, overland, and st. John. Trailnet's bike walk master plans recommend bicycle and pedestrian routes and infrastructure that increase safety and connectivity throughout the st. Louis region. In 2014, trailnet also continued to communicate with and encourage several communities who have previously received bike walk master plans, including brentwood, richmond heights, clayton, university city, old north st. Louis neighborhood, and maplewood.
trailnet's advocacy work includes developing a list of policy priorities which includes to 1) pass complete streets (cs) policies 2) get vision zero (vz) policies passed in st. Louis city and county 3) get stop for pedestrians (s4p) policies passed in st. Louis city and county 4) create a state comprehensive transportation funding (ctf) policy for bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure and get it passed. Trailnet collaborates with partners on the implementation and evaluation of all policies it helps establish. In 2014, trailnet educated more than 800 city of st. Louis residents about our neighborhood greenways st. Louis project at community events. Neighborhood greenways are residential streets transformed into low-stress, family-friendly routes that encourage walking and biking. Their design elements include rain gardens, traffic calming measures, signage, and pavement markings.
