Mission: Thinkfirst of the ark-la-texs mission is to prevent brain, spinal cord and other traumatic injuries through education. Our programs cover driving safety, drunk driving, gun and gang violence prevention, and general community safety education.
Programs: Thinkfirst for teens, a program of the national injury prevention foundation, is an award-winning public education effort targeting this high risk age group. The program educates young people about personal vulnerability and risk taking. Thinkfirst provides speakers with brain, spinal cord, or other traumatic injury to come speak to the students and share their stories for a first hand view.
state farm awarded us with a grant and thinkfirst was given the opportunity to present our life-saving message to the newest generation of drivers through local drivers education programs. The program was presented to over 675 students. The program consisted of several components such as an educational presentation designed to reach awareness of consequences. A trained speaker, our vip speaker who has sustained a traumatic injury due to risky driving behavior, giving an account of how choices they made led to life-altering changes. A question and answer session was conducted for the students, and activities were organized in order to increase student interaction and retention of the thinkfirst message.
